Updates to AoC

Recommended Posts

As you all have noticed by now, Any Other Cards has been split into two forums: The main one (which you are reading right now) and Joke Cards (which will be referred to as JC for the purposes of this thread).

Striker, Saber and myself have decided to split this section into two sections, because Joke Cards do not deserve to be mixed in with new summoning/mechanics or cards that have been given a fair amount of thought.

Any Other Cards (main)

This section will largely remain the same as it has been, minus the inclusion of Joke Cards within its area. You are allowed to post new summoning mechanics and/or things that were existent in the anime/manga only. Such things include Dark Tuners, Dark Synchros, Speed Spells or any new mechanic that does not exist in the official TCG/OCG. You may also put alternate card image galleries in this area.

Divine-Beast and DIVINE cards are welcome here, provided you have put considerable thought into designing said cards.

Post count has been re-enabled for this section. Thus, some of you may see your overall post count rise a bit, depending on how active you were in this section prior to today and whether or not your cards have been deemed acceptable for this section or moved to JC.

That being said, cards in the new AoC are required to show some degree of thought and proper card balance (especially since the Advanced Clause is now applicable in this section). Much like the main RC forums, you are expected to back your opinions of a member's cards with sufficient reasoning.

We encourage you to express creativity in this section, but we also expect that you show us that you took time to consider balance/design whilst creating them. If you are designing a new summoning mechanic/concept, please specify it in the thread title (or use the tags for it). Keep in mind that just a name could imply either a regular Archetype/series or a summoning mechanic (or subtype).

Joke Cards

Effective today, 7/18/2014, this section shall be relegated to holding any Joke Cards and/or intentionally overpowered cards that do not belong either in Realistic Cards. In short, if you want to post a troll face card, you must do so in this section. Posting them in the main AoC will no longer be accepted.

All threads that have been deemed as Joke Cards from late December 2011 up to today have been moved into the new forum. This means that any cards that appears not to have any thought put into them or is intentionally OPed shall be moved here. (If you feel that your set does not belong in this section, notify one of the CC mods and explain why you believe it to be so)

Post count is disabled in this area. Also remember that the usual rules of CC and the overall site ones are still in effect.

----

If you have any questions or concerns regarding this change, please let us know.

Have a nice day.

So if I am reading this right (please let me know if I am misunderstanding anything), this section has been changed to "things that used to or could exist in tcg/ocg" while cards that "have no tie to the anime/tcg etc" will be moved to the "joke cards" section.
I had some cards that I posted that were moved to the "joke cards" section and I was confused and a little hurt that I tried to make "some of them" fairly realistic and usable and now they are seen as "jokes".
I'm not trying to promote any of my cards, I just would like to know if this section is strictly for cards that "are related but not currently in the anime/tcg etc" or if it is similar to what it used to be where one can "introduce ideas".
I am also wondering if it would be more acceptable to state that it is a new idea in the title of the post? As opposed to stating what the card(s) are.
I feel like some of my cards were changed over to the "joke cards" section without being looked at, again if I am wrong this is just what I have seen and I would like clarification if I can have some.
I do think this is a nice change by the way, a nice way to separate "usable cards" from "slapping a picture and text on a card".

In a technical sense, the new AoC forum is meant for cards with new or anime/manga-exclusive concepts and/or Divine-Beast cards that have thought put into them and have been balanced. The JC forum is pretty much, as you mentioned, just someone slapping a random pic/effect onto a card.

Looking at your cards, they are overpowered to some extent, but you did put some effort into designing their effects. Moved back to this forum.

You should just use the Effect Monster template for it; looks cleaner if you do it.

But yeah, the point of this switch was to make sure decent cards don't get mixed up with joke cards. In this section, it's pretty obvious that new concepts will be placed here [but you are free to say that it is new if you want to in title]. You'll need to explain how said summoning works, however.

New update, effective 9/1/2014:

Any Other Cards will now be known as "Experimental Cards" (EC).

However, if we mention Any Other Cards (AoC), since all of you are familiar with this name, just know that we're referring to Experimental Cards.

The reason for this is to alleviate any confusion with the old name, which may imply it's for non-Yugioh games.

Keep in mind that RC does have two sections in both Singles/Multiples for other card games (Regular/Written); please use those.

Otherwise, the section will remain as it has been; properly designed new concepts and/or anime and manga-exclusive cards such as Speed Spells, Dark Synchros / Tuners, etc. go here.

No problem.

Think the name works nicely. Saber even agreed that renaming it was a nice idea, as to eliminate confusion issues.

Though I haven't seen any newbies post Pokemon cards in AoC though [unless it's buried a couple pages back or something]. I know there was a joke one about me in JoC; but it's in that section [all bad cards go there].
