"Hello boys and girls, it's time for the greatest show in the world. The sheer Fan Service will make you quiver as if your body was being crushed by a thousand grinding saw blades, and your heart is being pulled apart by razor sharp strings. Yea, the Gimmick Puppets are a marvellous troupe of performers who are just waiting to get to know your opponent... intimately... with a knife.... maybe two."

"The Gimmick Puppet are a band of Machine-Type monsters with a mix of EARTH and DARK attributes. Their express purpose is to churn out an army of Rank 8 monsters to crush your opponent. However, they are very capable of also bringing out Rank 4 monsters to surprise and crush your opponent. These Dolls are not to be taken lightly."

"The Main Cast, these are the major players in the Gimmick Puppet's act, and they're sure to provide all the Fan Service you'll ever need."
300px-GimmickPuppetDesTroy-PRIO-EN-C-1E.

"A handsome steed, I could just rub that mane of his for hours. Sadly, he's not much for stage shows, as he bombs every single one of his performances. Thankfully his fellow actors come out to save the show."

As a card, I don't like it. Puppets chew through SO much hand advantage already. If this guy summoned from the Grave, or hell, even the Deck at the cost of only making Gimmick Puppet Xyz, it'd be fine. As is, this guy is too slow and too ineffectual to be of any use. 0 Fan Service out of 5.

300px-GimmickPuppetDrearyDoll-PGLD-EN-GS

"A sweet little doll, she's the star of the show. She is a bit selfish though, as she tends to shove her fellow Gimmick Puppets aside so she can take to the stage again and again and again. But the audience just loves her."

The Gimmick Puppet's shining star; this little lady will be found in any deck using Puppets. Her revival effect is what makes the Deck work, as she will always be the primary benefactor when making your Xyz, even if her range is only 3 Xyz. Machine Duplication is also a great way to get out the other copies from your Deck to reduce dead draws; which is always handy. 5 Fan Services out of 5.

300px-GimmickPuppetEggHead-NUMH-EN-SR-1E

"A very considerate gentleman, he always has a major supporting role in any Gimmick Puppet performance. However, he relies a little bit on luck as to whether his fame will elevate his position, or, whether he will bomb so hard that it is physically painful to the audience."

I love his wig. This is the Gimmick Puppet's primary beater, and also one of the major means to removing Dreary Dolls from your Hand. Both of his effects are very good, and you are much more likely to make Felgrand with this card. He got a decent buff from the anime, that literally made him a amazing card choice. 4 Fan Services out of 5.

300px-GimmickPuppetGearChanger-NUMH-EN-S

"A low rent actor, she is always leeching off other Puppet's fame, and has a tendency to photo-bomb whenever she can. Despite her selfish actions, she is a valued player in Gimmick Puppet Theatre."

The other main Xyz engine, Gear Changer is a stellar addition to the Gimmick Puppet arsenal. This little baby makes it so much easier for the Gimmick Puppet to Xyz, and pairs of quite well with Magnet Doll, Dreary Doll and Humpty Dumpty. Sadly, she cannot be Machine Duplicationed, which hurt her utility greatly. 4 Fan Services out of 5.

300px-GimmickPuppetHumptyDumpty-PGLD-EN-

"A relatively new member of the cast, he has proven himself to be very exceptional in two man acts. On his own however, he tends to get very nervous and has a tendency to make a fool of himself."

I thought this guy was going to be shit. Special Summon from the Hand, and no Level change. Dream on. Oh, how wrong I was. This little fellow opens up the Rank 4 toolbox for Puppets, and gives them a new edge to ram your opponent's face on. Naturally you can't give your entire Extra over to Rank 4s, but Normal Summoning a Gear Gigant X easily makes up for losing 2 cards from your Hand. Plus being a Machine Duplication target really helps his case when you turn 1 Gigant into 2. 4 Fan Servics out of 5.

300px-GimmickPuppetMagnetDoll-PGLD-EN-GS

"An older member of this cast, this jaded fellow has been around the block a fair few times. It's come to the point where he will not hit the stage unless there is an actor to upstage and there is an audience to please with his Fan Service."

A powerful card at that, he is hurt however by his summoning condition of requiring only GPs on your own field, and a monster on your opponent's. This gravely impacts his first turn utility by a lot. Despite this, he is very good friends with Gear Changer, who fulfils his summoning condition and also allows for the summoning of whatever Rank 8 you want, even though you're just going to make Felgrand anyways. I give him 3.5 Fan Services out of 5.

300px-GimmickPuppetNightmare-NUMH-EN-SR-

"A bit of a dodgy operator, he has a tendency to argue with the managers about nearly everything. He just keeps yelling and yelling until he gets his way, so then they allow him to hit the stage with his identical twin as well. He is incredibly xenophobic however, and doesn't like it when non-Gimmick Puppets hit the stage."

Ugh, what the hell was with this card? You're already sacrificing an Xyz for his SS effect, and you also need to waste a Foolish or a Scissor Hand dump on the second copy. You could have AT LEAST let us make whatever we wanted. This thing is pure garbage. 0 Fan Service out of 5.

300px-GimmickPuppetScissorArms-NUMH-EN-S

"A backstage charlatan, she loves backstabbing her fellow actors whenever she can. However, she's not as good an actor as she thinks she is, and tends to blow her performances. Dreary Doll has a habit of blowing her off after a pretty nasty backstab."

A sweet card, as its the Gimmick Puppet's own version of Armageddon Knight. Sure you could just run the normal Armageddon Knight, but you won't because of this card's second purpose: Banish fodder for Dreary Doll. Once you've got the dump that's it, so you might as well give it a final use by aiding your strategy. I give it 4 Fan Services out of 5.

299px-GimmickPuppetShadowFeeler-PGLD-EN-

"A peculiar Puppet with a very strange act, his job is to hit the field once the audience start to riot on the stage. He is very good at interpretive dance, and is quite immune to criticism. He just doesn't like to leave the stage once he gets on it."

Incredibly iffy on this card honestly. At times it seems useful, but at others... ehhh? It's a decent wall at least, even though it's just stealing a dump away from Dreary Doll. You can use it for Xyz if you want, even though it will banish itself once detached. I give it 2.5 Fan Services out of 5.

300px-GimmickPuppetTwilightJoker-NUMH-EN

"A real joker, he tries to save the show once a fellow actor bombs. However, his ability to hold up a show is very poor, causing him to bomb the same way as the performance he was trying to save did."

Terrible, just, terrible. We want our Gimmick Puppets to stay in the grave so we can summon our actually good Dreary Doll. Even if you Special Summoned yourself from the Grave it still wouldn't make you good. 0 Fan Service out of 5.

300px-Number15GimmickPuppetGiantGrinder-

"An absolute charmer and a swell guy to be around, once he hits the field you know the fun has begun. He loves to bring the audience his own unique blend of Fan Service. Fans love him so much that their hearts explode with excitement."

The major meat of your Extra Deck, this is pretty much the go-to card when you're using Dreary Doll. His effect is excellent due to the massive amount of Special Summoning around. And even if they aren't Xyz you still get to clean 2 monsters off the board like they were nothing. The burn is merely a cherry on top. 4 Fan Services out of 5.

300px-NumberC15GimmickPuppetGiantHunter-

"Number 15's second act, this guy brings a brand new twist as he invites any member of the audience to be sawed in half, and of course the trick is safe, he's only had 16 fatalities this year."

The upgrade to Number 15, and my WHAT an upgrade it is. Even if he only gets one use a turn, the ability to destroy any card of your opponent's is certainly nothing to be sniffed or snorted at. Hell, it gets even better when you Argent up from the Normal N15, as you can use his effect twice to clear some monsters, then use C15 to finish anything else off. 4 Fan Services out of 5.

300px-Number40GimmickPuppetofStrings-CT1

"Though often jaded with his need for repeat performances, the audience swoons with delight as he plays them a song on his heartstrings. And once his show is over, everyone dies from how beautiful his music is."

I gotta be honest here, unless you're about the Rank-Up to C40, I see very little reason to use this guy's effect at all. Monsters don't stay on the field for long, and that includes this guy. Both he and whatever had String Counters put on them need to survive until your opponent's next End Phase. It's just, not worth it really. However, despite a cruddy effect, he makes for an excellent beater. 3.5 Fan Services out of 5.

299px-NumberC40GimmickPuppetofDarkString

"A real crowd stomper; the audience get a real surprise when N40's gentle melodies turn into angry and vengeful heavy metal as his alter-ego C40 takes to the stage.."

Here's the reason why you even bother to use N40's effect. A field wipe of every other monster, burn, and a draw. It's a really amazing combo and potentially game ending. It was a brilliant move to have him nuke whatever has a String Counter when he was Special Summoned, rather than just Xyz Summoned. It brings a new utility to this card as well as justify why his normal effect still places poxy String Counters on the field. 4 Fan Services out of 5.

300px-Number88GimmickPuppetofLeo-CT10-EN

"The manager of the theatre, this burly lion has very little patience for tomfoolery. Once he gets annoyed, that's it, show's over."

Ngh, this guy. He is a complete deviation over whatever Puppets do, and while yes, his Alt Win effect is very nice, you still require no backrow and 3 turns to do it. Not to mention he needs 3 cards for his Summon anyways. Even as a beater, he's no good, as Strings might only have 200 less ATK, but he also requires 1 less material. 1 Fan Service out of 5

300px-NumberC88GimmickPuppetDisasterLeo-

"The manager of the theatre, this is what happens when he gets REALLY angry. His roars are known to scare the audience stiff and his presence on stage means the show is even more over once he's done yelling."

Ngh, this guy again. If you thought N88 was bad, this guy is, somehow, less bad. For what it's worth his win con is at least a lot less stringent, and, can actually happen honestly. He gets 1000 free burn a turn, and if you knock your opponent down to 2000 or less, you win. If you don't have backrow during the turn in which you made C88 he'd be down to 2 materials already. Plus, he can't be targeted, which is cool as this guy ends up equal with Apoqliphoth Killer. However, requiring you to RUM up from N88 hurts him too much to be considered playable, even with Soul Charge around. 2 Fan Services out of 5

"The Gimmick Puppet Rolling Players certainly isn't an exclusive club, that's where the Supporting Cast come in to help ensure a show-stopping performance."
300px-GearspringSpirit-HA07-EN-SR-1E.png

"All away from Japanese Theatre comes the Gearspring Spirit. This player fits right in with her fellow Puppets, and she bedazzles her audience with her Kabuki style arts. She is very xenophobic however, and refuses to hit the stage once a non-Machine-Type has trodden on it."

If Gimmick Puppets are the bread, then this card is the butter. This guy's summoning condition is ludicrously easy to fulfil, and also really easy to break. This guy is best played early game after you've managed to dump your first Dreary into the grave. His effect is also very handy in regards to weakening an opponent's monster for a definitive strike. 3.5 Fan Services out of 5.

300px-MachinaGearframe-SDMM-EN-SR-UE.png

"A curious character, as you'r never think he had acting potential, which, he doesn't. Machine Gearframe is the understudy for his older Machina brothers, and he's always put on stage first in order to warm the audience up."

I DO NOT like the Machina variant much, but, it exists so yeah. Gearframe is basically the key to any Machine strategy, as he searches whatever Machina you need for the moment, which is usually Fortress. Not much else to say beyond he's an important cornerstone to the deck. 4 Fan Services out of 5.

300px-MachinaFortress-SDMM-EN-UR-UE.png

"Even though the Puppets allow him on stage, he is always pushing himself ahead of them so the audience can see him in full action. Even though the act gets old after a while he just keeps coming back for more."

This guy is pretty much the replacement to Egg Head when it comes to ditching Dreary Doll from the hand. You guys all know pretty much why this card is popular, so I probably don't need to explain it much. 4 Fan Services out of 5.

300px-MachinaMegaform-NECH-EN-SR-LE.png

"Fortress' second act, he's a lot more compliant to move with the theme in this state, and he actually allows for other actors to get upon stage as well."

I have not tested this card at all, but his combo with Fortress is pretty obvious. His status as a Level 8 makes it much easier to begin the Xyz cycle. To put it simply enough the way the deck moves is defined purely by the numbers really. 1 Megaform can cycle through all the Fortresses in the Deck, and once all is said and done, he can then take part in the Xyz Summon conga. 3.5 Fan Services out of 5.

300px-MachinaCannon-PRC1-EN-SR-1E.png

"The final member of the Machine stage troupe, he's almost as selfish as Fortress. Almost, as he is willing to join in on the Gimmick Puppet's performances, rather than act in a one man show like Fortress."

This is pretty much the alternative to using Gearspring Spirit. Unlike Spirit he can summon himself regardless of what's in the Graveyard. However, Puppets have issues with the Hand as is, so tossing a card out just to summon this guy puts a lot of strain on your hand advantage. He at least makes great Fortress fodder at least. 2.5 Fan Services out of 5.

300px-BlackSalvo-DT05-EN-DNPR-DT.jpg

"He might have a short fuse, but this grinning madman is not one to bomb his performances. The Black Salvo always enters stage right, and makes for an awe-inspiring opening act that will blow you all away."

The star of Synchro Puppets, this grinning little bombshell is held back only by the slim pool of worthwhile Level 7s. He's not bad, far from it. The fact that he can Normal Summon Black Rose Dragon is wonderful in and of itself. Being searchable and salvageable by Gear Gigant X really helps his utility, and makes for a harmonious fusion of Synchro and Xyz. It gets even better since he perfectly plays into a Gigant play, so long as a Scissor Hand or Humpty Dumpty got dumped. I wouldn't use him anywhere else except for the Synchro build though, due to space being SUPER tight. 4 Fan Services out of 5.

300px-TinGoldfish-SP14-EN-C-1E.png

"Here fishy fishy, here fishy fishy. Aww, the fishy is shy. But when the stage comes on, your Puppets will ride this mighty whale to victory with their incredibly rendition of Swan Lake Meets Jack the Ripper."

Okay, creepy jokes aside, this guy is pretty good in a Rank 4 oriented build. Naturally, I mean that's just pointing out the bleeding obvious isn't it? You'll want to use this guy in the Seven Ate Nine build so as to get to your Gigants ASAP, so you can start pulling out Black Salvos in preparation for a big Synchro move. Nothing says screw you to your opponent like plonking down Black Rose Dragon or Moonlight Rose Dragon. And once Dark Strike Fighter gets unbanned in the TCG, all hell will break loose. 4 Fan Services out of 5.

300px-MythicWaterDragon-MP14-EN-C-1E.png

"A new performer who recently joined the Rolling Players, this dazzling dragon of the deep is one heck of a show stopped, and certainly gives the Oriental Kabuki styling of Gearspring Spirit a run for their money."

After doing some preliminary testing, this card isn't awful. It combos well with either Egg Head or Gear Changer, and lacks the incredibly stringent qualities of Gearspring that makes that card terrible late game. Naturally combing is a little harder, but being able to be used at any part in the duel makes up for it. He can also be Inferno Reckless Summoned, unlike Gearspring. 3 Fan Services out of 5.

300px-BlackRoseDragon-CT05-EN-ScR-LE.png

"A true diva to the stage, she appears in a cloud of Sakura Blossoms, and she leaves just the same. Her mighty wings herald the greatest show in the world that utterly annihilates any doubts in the audience's minds as she makes it clear that the show can, and will, go on."

Do I even need to explain this card? She's a nuke that can be Normal Summoned, need I go on? 4.5 Fan Services out of 5.

300px-BlackRoseMoonlightDragon-YF07-JP-U
Dragon / Synchro / Effect
1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters
When this card is Special Summoned, OR when a Level 5 or higher monster is Special Summoned to your opponent's side of the field face-up: Target 1 Special Summoned monster your opponent controls; return that target to the hand. You can only use the effect of "Moonlight Rose Dragon" once per turn.

"Black Rose Dragon's twin sister, this saucy little courtesan only makes her appearances at night. One by one her audience is entranced in her feather dance, until all bow to her grace, and her charm."

Black Rose Dragon's Duel Dragon incarnation, and it has been gaining a lot of speed as of late. And it's not hard to see why: She bounces. Bouncing is a very important part of the game, and she provides an immense amount of hate towards decks like Shaddolls, and... Shaddolls, I guess. Oh, Hieratics as well, kinda. Point is, this card is great for disruption and making your opponent hesitant. Plus, she's a Compulsory on Summon. That alone is worth the price of admission. 4 Fan Services out of 5.

300px-KarakuriShogunmdl00Burei-CT10-EN-S

"The great shogun from the East, his performances will either floor people, or having them standing and applauding. He might seem frightful in presence, but this Puppet sure ain't no Dummy."

This guy is essentially your beater. The moment he hits the field he's disruptive, and can make good of bringing shields forward, or threats to their knees. I recommend running 2 of him until Dark Strike Fighter appears. That's not to say he's a bad card, far from it. His potential is just wasted in Puppets. 3 Fan Services out of 5.

300px-DarkStrikeFighter-LC5D-EN-C-1E.png

"The infamous stunt man, the audience is always wowed by his daring do as he blitzes the opposition with quick order, ending things, like always, with a bang."

Compliments of the January TCG Banlist, this guy has been let loose, and not much has been gained. I overestimated his use, to be fully certain; however, he still nonetheless a 2600 ATK beater that can potentially burn your opponent by 1600 a turn when combo'd with Dreary Doll. I have yet to pull off this combo, but I know it'll be hilarious when I do. 3.5 Fan Services out of 5.

300px-ClearWingSynchroDragon-CROS-JP-UR.

Dragon / Synchro / Effect

1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters

Once per turn, during either player's turn, when another Level 5 or higher monster on the field activates its effect: You can negate the activation, and if you do, destroy it. Once per turn, during either player's turn, when a monster effect is activated that targets exactly 1 Level 5 or higher monster on the field (and no other cards): You can negate the activation, and if you do, destroy it. If this card destroys a monster by its own effect: It gains ATK equal to the destroyed monster's original ATK, until the end of this turn.

"Behold as a bright new shining star hits the stage. The ever elusive yet magnificent Clear Wing Synchro Dragon dazzles the audience with his sheer magnificence, though he is quite the hog for center stage."

Well, with CROS coming soon something wicked this way comes. From my experiences this card is pretty incredible when it comes to hating on practically every monster card to ever exist. Though backrow can and will almost always clean him off the field. But that's the price you pay when you over-specialize. This guy is the star of the the Synchro Puppets build, and is effectively your first summon. 4 Fan Services out of 5.

300px-StarEater-JOTL-EN-ScR-1E.png

"Here he is ladies and gentlemen! The sovereign of the stars and the sun, the great dragon who would curl around the world seven times. THE STAR EATER!"

I'll admit, it was only AFTER testing did I realize this guy could be Summoned, and frankly, the fact that he CAN be summoned with Salvo and Dreary is such delightful. He is a powerful presence that makes a lot of decks quiver in their little booties. 4.5 Fan Services out of 5.

300px-DivineDragonKnightFelgrand-SHSP-EN

"A majestic knight who comes in to rescue the fair damsel in distress, Felgrand is a well received performer who gets many honourable mentions during the play reviews.

If anyone hasn't heard of this card, then do tell me how you've been breathing whilst living on Mars. When you have the option to make this guy, you smegging make him. His ability to disrupt the field whilst protecting your nice things is truly remarkable. 5 Fan Services out of 5.

300px-AlseitheSylvanHighProtector-LVAL-E

"This cuddly performing cat is quite immune to criticism, as his age long bulk is enough to know that people are just never happy. He also likes yarn.

I'll be honest, I rarely use this card, if ever. However, he has one me some games every so often. Despite using him rarely, I must say: He has one massive ass. A 3200 DEF wall of an ass to be precise. Plus, he can do some spot removal whenever you need to. This guy is by no means bad, I just prefer Felgrand much of the time. 3.5 Fan Services out of 5.

300px-GearGigantX-CT10-EN-SR-LE.png

"This clockwork fighter is certainly quite lithe on his feet, but his skills are best used for chorus work as he helps his fellow actors back on their feet so the show can go on.

Pretty much your go-to for Rank 4s, this guy nets you whatever cards you need, which is mostly Scissor Hand or Gear Changer. His search on Gear Changer is incredibly valuable, as the card is a valuable asset to the deck. 4 Fan Services out of 5.

300px-LavalvalChain-HA07-EN-ScR-1E.png

"This serpent is incredibly selfish, hogging all of the limelight whilst leaving none for his fellow actors. However, his time in the sun is always short cut by his poor acting skills.

This card isn't used often, but is more of a desperation move. This guy is used in an emergency if you have no Scissor Hands to dump Dreary, or if you are in dire need of Argent Chaos Force. Though it wastes a general draw use and the recovery of Argent, sometimes it is precisely what you need to win the duel. 3.5 Fan Services out of 5.

300px-CXyzCoachLordUltimatrainer-NUMH-EN

"The man behind the curtain, this enthusiastic performer keeps everyone in tip top shape, as well as performing incredibly feats of athletic prowess that dazzle and amaze the audience."

When you're using Argent Chaos Force, this is pretty much your first choice. This guy, I cannot express in mere words as to how amazing he is. He slowly recovers lost advantage, might burn, can't be targeted, and can deck most cards with a 3800 ATK fist. There is very little that can stop this beast once he gets going, and he is the reward at the end of the Rank-Up Rainbow. 5 Fan Services out of 5.

300px-NumberC107NeoGalaxyEyesTachyonDrag

"The grand finale, the golden scales of this magnificent dragon douses the audience in pure light as it rewinds the clock right back to the start of the show, so your opponent can enjoy your performance all over again!"

I don't hate this card, but, it's just a beater really. I've never found a good moment to play the card, even though it's so powerful. I'm sure given the chance I would use it more, and my minimal use of the card doesn't mean you will. 3.5 Fan Services out of 5.

The Gimmick Puppet are never without their props, and they assuredly improve the show in ace.
300px-AllureofDarkness-SDGU-EN-C-1E.jpg

"An actor enters the stage, the lights goes dark, the audience is in wonder. Then... WHAZZAM, a sudden surprise as the actor is gone, replaced by two more in an instant."

It's a deck with DARK cards. That's Allure's only calling card. Despite the banishing portion, the draws are very much worth it if it would speed your Deck up. 5 Fan Services out of 5.

300px-FoolishBurial-SDLI-EN-C-1E.png

"Even in drama, accidents happen."

Basically another dump card, for when you need it immediately without sacrificing your Normal Summon to Scissor Hands. It also lets you set Gearspring Spirit up MUCH faster. 5 Fan Services out of 5.

300px-MachineDuplication-SDMM-EN-C-UE.pn

"One of the most magnificent tricks of the Gimmick Puppet. This is an act solely for Dreary Doll and Humpty Dumpty, and they perform it with exceptional skill and grace."

Pretty much justifies running 3 Dreary Doll and/or 3 Humpty Dumpty. I wish I could see the look on my opponent's face as I play this and essentially double the number of Gear Gigants or Rank 8s I was going to make. You don't really NEED to run this card, but, it's so worth it when it goes off. 4 Fan Services out of 5.

300px-InfernoRecklessSummon-SDMM-EN-C-UE

"Are you prepared for the amazing appearing trick? Now you see one Gimmick Puppet, and in a flash of light you have three!"

I, must apologize Dyson. I was so very, very wrong about this card. Unlike Machine Derp, this card reacts with the vast majority of the Gimmick Puppet arsenal. The only one it cannot touch is Egg Head, which is small price to pay for this kind of power. And sure, you opponent may get a swarm of monsters, but realistically speaking they'll get annihilated in due order anyways by N15. Aside from being bad against the Qliphort match-up, I can speak no wrong about this card. 4 Fan Services out of 5.

300px-JunkPuppet-PGLD-EN-GScR-1E.png

"A clever little trick, just when you think the show is over, the Gimmick Puppets come back for a second taste of fun. Sadly, this trick only works once per performance."

The power card in Puppets, it grants swift utility of a Gear Changer or Magnet Doll you just spent for more Xyz. Heck, you can even combo it with Humpty Dumpty to net a summon from your hand. 5 Fan Services out of 5.

"Another take on the Junk Puppet trick, this time two Gimmick Puppets appear for the price of one. However, this is only for experienced performers, so the less famous actors can't perform it."

Eh, I prefer Junk Puppet honestly. This card is an instant Xyz sure, but it's such a stifling card when you're going to be reviving Dreary Doll almost guaranteed. Magnet Doll rarely hits the grave unless by being detached or by Trade-In. Soul Charge is by far more superior to this card anyways. 1.5 Fan Services out of 5.

"The deck's most famous trick, the audience simply cannot believe theirs eyes as they witness the transformation of our performers into new and exciting actors who are just ready to excite them. What's behind the golden crest? You'll just have to wait and see."

This. This is the card that makes Argent Force Puppets what they are. I gauge as this being the second best RUM in existence, right behind Astral Force. This card has so little holding it back beyond the number of targets you can summon, and even then this card has instantly changed Ultimatrainer from unplayable to god-like. THAT'S how good this card is. 5 Fan Services out of 5.

300px-SoulCharge-DRLG-EN-SR-1E.png

"Their Grand Finale, all the most choice actors come back for their final performance, which will surely be a crowd stomper."

You can play this card if you want, I WON'T fault you for it. The issue is largely that the Battle Phase is incredibly vital to Puppets, and losing it to summon some vulnerable Xyz is kinda hard to consider it worth it. HOWEVER, it could be used in some twisted deck revolving around trying to OTK with C40. 5 Fan Services out of 5 (just for existing, it's amazing. Broken, but amazing.)

300px-TradeIn-LCJW-EN-UR-1E.png

"Even actors get tired, so it's nice to take a tour of leave every once and a while."

This is the absolute draw power in the deck, and one of the primary means for removing Dreary Doll from the hand. This card is all you'd realistically need in terms of draw power alongside Allure, and it gets the deck moving incredibly fast. Not drawing this card hurts the deck gravely. 4.5 Fan Services out of 5.

300px-MarshallingField-DUEA-JP-C.png
Continuous Trap
You cannot Special Summon monsters, except Machine-Type monsters. Once per turn: You can declare a Level from 5 to 9; all Level 5 or higher Machine-Type monsters you currently control become the declared Level. If a Machine-Type Xyz Monster you control would be destroyed, you can send this face-up card to the Graveyard instead. If this card is sent from the field to the Graveyard: You can add 1 "Rank-Up-Magic Argent Chaos Force" from your Deck or Graveyard to your hand.

"A show stomping performance is nothing without its stage, and the Marshalling Field provides all the fame and glory Puppets would ever need. And then some."

Ehhhhh, I, don't really like this card much. You'd think I would, but the way it restricts itself hurts the deck so much more than it aids it. See, this card is incredibly moot in Argent Force Puppets since it doesn't matter what Level you make Dreary, she can only Xyz into the Normal GP Numbers at Level 8, or make the Number Cs at Level 9. But it takes far too much effort to run this card, even IF it is nice that it grabs you Argent. This is also considering that it takes an extra Material in order to Summon the Number C. Though, I'll be honest: You only usually need to Argent Force twice in a duel to secure victory. I wouldn't honestly run this card, except maybe in some demented combination of the Machina and Argent builds. You can play this card if you want, but I wouldn't recommend it.

Gimmick Puppets are essentially an Xyz based archetype. With Black Salvo they can be more focused on Level 7 plays, but that restricts your ability to Rank 8. You can't have both and be consistent.

The power of Gimmick Puppets lie entirely in their ability to generate Xyz like nobody's business. Their range is effectively restricted towards Rank 4, and Rank 8. But that's not such a bad thing as those Ranks are incredibly powerful. The most prominent cards for enacting their strategies are Dreary Doll, and Humpty Dumpty. I choose these cards as the basis of the engine, primarily because they are both targets for Machine Duplication. It is rather brilliant to turn a field of just Egg Head and Humpty into 2 Gear Gigant Xs, who will then proceed to get your Humpty's back as you detach them. And Dreary can go on to become Giant Grinder(s) and String(s). But, most importantly, Duping a Dreary removes the possibility of drawing her, which can be a deadly dead draw in a duel.

Dreary is capable of reviving herself every turn at the cost of banishing a Gimmick Puppet from your grave. An easy cost to fulfil thanks to the likes of Foolish Burial and Scissor Hands. However, despite Dreary being amazing, she is held back by the most obnoxious balancing factor Konami could have slapped on her: She can only be used to make Gimmick Puppet Xyz. A pain in the ass restriction, as without it, Gimmick Puppets would be the most powerful Rank 8 EVER. But, saltiness aside, Dreary is the engine that mobilizes the Rank 8 machine.

Humpty meanwhile, is a rather fantastic engine for the Gimmick Puppets. However, between you and me, if he had the Level altering effect like Gordian Knot, Humpty would have been perfect. Sadly, Konami lacked foresight again and made Humpty balanced. Either way, he's an instant Rank 4 with Egg Head, Scissor Hand or Gear Changer, and doubles the number of Xyz if you happen to Dupe him.

Funny thing though, is that the most magnificent irony about Gimmick Puppets is that the gimmicky ones are the crap ones, whilst the more straight-forward cards are the good ones. As shown below:

The Good: Dreary Doll, Magnet Doll, Shadow Feeler (I guess(?)), Humpty Dumpty, Egg Head, Scissor Hand, Gear Changer, N15, C15, N40, C40, Junk Puppet

The Bad: Nightmare, Twilight Joker, Des Troy, N88, C88, Puppet Ritual

I know of 4 different variants of the Deck you can run, which are as follow, and will be explained in the spoiler beneath:

I'm sure you all know how devastating Machina Fortress was once upon a time. However, Machina Puppets is an inferior. Megaform possesses some utility, as it is immediate set-up for Fortress, and Fortress is immediate set-up for him in return. This tends to pull focus away from the Puppet side, but at least Fortress and Megaform can help to chew through a fair few of your opponent's resources. But I still find the Deck slows down a lot with the addition of the Machina.

The strategy behind this deck focuses mostly on the Machina side. Like any deck involving Fortress you want to keep using your resources to constantly get him back onto the field. This where the Puppets come in, as Dreary Doll and Megaform are prime fuel for the summoning of Fortress. And once your opponent has wasted their removal on Fortress, you bring back Megaform so you can perform a Rank 8 with Dreary Doll, or maybe Gearspring or a Gear Changer that has become Level 8. The strategy is relatively simple, but effective.

In turn, I personally don't recommend using this deck. It's a lot weaker than the pure Argent Chaos Force variant, and loses advantage absurdly quickly.

In my opinion, this deck is the most composed of the four decks. One could argue that a RUM just slows the deck down, but I assure you that Argent Chaos Force is incredibly vital to Puppets, as even with Dreary Doll, it expands your choices of the three Gimmick Puppet Rank 8s into a good deal of powerful Rank 9 monsters. With the power of their personal RUM Argent Chaos Force, the restrictions that bind the Gimmick Puppets are thankfully lifted.

The strategy behind this deck is to largely hold your opponent off until you get Argent Chaos Force. This is done easily by using the likes of Gear Changer and Magnet Doll to make Alsei, or much better, Felgrand in order to hold your opponent off until you get Argent. In a desperate move, you can make Lavalval Chain which can send Argent to your Graveyard, to be ready for pick-up whenever you Xyz Summon a Rank 8. Once you have the materials, you can cater to a lot of situations with the 4 Rank 9s in your Extra, even though you'll just make Ultimatrainer to wreck face.

Don't make this deck. Just, don't even try. It is cloggy and slow and horrible and just an absolute mess of existence.
This one is, interesting to say the least. The express purpose of this deck is to, basically, ignore making Rank 8s in favour of combining the power of Rank 4s and Level 7s Synchros. This is achieved by the additions of our good friend Tin Goldfish and Black Salvo to the mix. However, while this deck IS a lot more consistent than Argent Chaos Force Puppets, it still lacks the power the deck can unleash. This is largely due to the fact that Dark Strike Fighter is still banned in the TCG. Once it's off the banlist, I WILL heartily endorse this deck. Why? Because of the fact that with Dark Strike Fighter and Dreary Doll, you're burning your opponent for 1600 damage each use. That's game in 5 turns or less.

The strategy of the deck is extremely straight forward really. Either use Humpty Dumpty or Tin Goldfish to make Rank 4s (mostly Gear Gigant X), whilst preparing the Graveyard with a Humpty Dumpty or Scissor Hand in preparation for Black Salvo to revive them later. One fascinating little fact, I should add, is that Dreary Doll provides you an out to the growingly popular Apoqliphoth Killer. How so? Because you can use her and Salvo to make Star Eater, and that is just really freaking funny.
Turbo Puppets essentially, is a much faster and much more reckless version of Argent Chaos Force Puppets. It takes a lot of chances with its play style, which results in a massive reward, or crippling failure. Perfect execution of Inferno Reckless Summon is key to the Deck's success, even to the point where it is very possible to simply OTK after a single IRS. This deck can very easily brick as well, so it's up to you whether or not this reckless deck's rewards outweighs the costs of its play style.

All you need to know is this: When you SS Magnet Doll or Shadow Feeler, Inferno Reckless Summon then, then proceed to kick faces in with Felgrand, and then recover your resources by hiding behind one, or even two Felgrands. Felgrand Felgrand Felgrand Felgrand.
What's this, another deck like a bolt out of the blue... eyes. Yes, I recently just had a little quirky idea in regards to playing Puppets, and began to wonder if other cards could be added in. Which is why I went with a favourite Level 8 player, the Blue-Eyes White Dragon. With the addition of Maiden With Eyes of Blue he can very easily be pulled from the deck and wreck face for however long you need too. And she makes a great stalling tool until the inevitable field wipe. This decks focuses mostly on Rank 8 shenanigans whilst leaving Rank 4 stuff behind. This is still highly experimental, so I can't vouch for its use just yet.
The general idea of the deck is to use the Shaddoll's inherent ability to screw with your opponent and generate advantage to fuel your ability to create Rank 8s using Construct and Dreary Doll. As the detach will net you back your Fusions. This deck works ideally best when facing an Extra heavy opponent. It won't work all the time, but it really can deliver when it needs too.

Fucking 11/10 OP.
Would build the deck again.

Yes, I'm being serious.

But anyway... Ever tried Marshalling Field in the Argent variant? Aside from searching Argent, it's protection effect seems rather amusing. Plus, it could let you play stuff like Enterprisnir and what-not.

It's a slow card, and doesn't work too well because @9, it takes even more effort since it requires 3 cards to make C15 or C40 beause yu'll almost always be using Dreary. In tandem with Machine Derp it can work, but Marshalling Itself is a very ineffectual card. Plus space is tight enough as is.

If you want to run Marshalling, you'd probably have to sacrifice Machine Dupe, as it's the only card that could be removed. But honestly, it ain't worth it. However, in the Machina variant, it might be feasible, as then it lines up the Levels of Fortress and Dreary.

I'd have to create one abomination of a deck to pull it off though.

Well put guide. Though it lacks fanservice so here:

tumblr_m6042ecYDM1ruqmxzo1_500.gif

From a competitive standpoint, how do you think Gimmick Puppets would do in the current Meta? Due to their ease to run cards Like Skill Drain, and they have a devastating field clearer in their arsenal they would seem like the kind of archetype that can hold its own. Also, it would be one of my favorite, if not, only archetypes I can see using Rank-Up Magic Argent Chaos

Skill Drain wouldn't negate Dreary's condition (as far as I know), so using Skill Drain would be highly detrimental to the way the deck plays, since you'd be A LOT more reliant on Dreary and Magnet because Skill Drain kills one of their best Rank 8 fodders: Gear Changer. You could run it in the Machina variant as they don't care a lot for Fortress' effect, and their main Rank 8 engine is Dreary. So they'd play N40 the same way anyways.

As for tiers, they're still very low. Puppets don't have enough consistency cards, as they can brick pretty hard, especially if they don't draw a way to ditch Dreary (and Shadow Feeler) from the hand. And even though Trade-In is an excellent draw card, what the deck really needs are more ways to dump cards from the deck, as well as the ability to search Puppets, seeing as how Gear Gigant X is their only search card. Also having card that can manipulate levels would also be handy. One other thing Puppets REALLY need are some more Xyz, to expand on Dreary's role at being the main component of the Rank 8 engine. I'm not saying N15 or N40 are bad, it would just be nice to have more than 2 options (since you should NEVER run N88).

However, when Puppets get moving, they REALLY get moving. If they can get out Ultima early, they're golden as he's ridiculously hard to take down.

 • 3 weeks later...

Some builds use Inferno Reckless Summon to pump out multiple shadow feelers/magnet dolls and the monsters your opponent gets from it doesnt really matter because C40.

Another card I found myself using in conjunction with IRS is Coachking Giantrainer, with a potent 2800 body (but does require 3 materials), he can completely circumvent the downside of IRS, drawing 3 additional cards and a potential for 2400 burn damage, and if you happen to draw into Argent, you can rank up into Ultima for another draw.

Of course, I really only reserved Coachking for my turbo build, because the draw 3 is pretty damn fantastic. It doesnt really have a place in standard builds due to Dreary.

I was never fond of IRS to be honest. It gets to reward your opponent at times, and has also felt vastly inferior to Machine Derp. This holds especially true now as Qliphoths and Shaddolls are decks; this can also hold true in the case of Sats and Star Seraphs. Qlips alone are reason enough as to why you shouldn't IRS unless you are ABSOLUTELY SURE you can win that turn.

The reward really doesn't feel like it balances out the cost.

EDIT: Updated the OP with my thoughts and a build for Synchro Puppets (Seven Ate Nine).
