Zextra's Series 9 Card Template [PSD Available for Download]

Recommended Posts

Hey, everyone! As of now, the carmaker's current template (which uses the card frames from my old Series 8 layout template) is outdated; so for those of you who are nit-picky about such things and would be interested in using an upgraded Series 9 card template, I am sharing my new template for your use.

Also, for those of you looking to make Pendulum monsters, you can find my Pendulum template here.

The template comes with everything you need, and it includes card frames for:

• Normal Monsters

• Effect Monsters

• Fusion Monsters

• Ritual Monsters

• Synchro Monsters

• Dark Synchro Monsters

• Xyz Monsters

• Token Cards

• Spell Cards

• Trap Cards

The template also includes various holo effects, so you can make your cards look like this is you want!

Credits for this template:

• Level and Negative Level - J u d a s

Rules - Please Read:

• Credit is not required here on YCM, but would be greatly appreciated. However, I would like to ask for credit if used outside of YCM.

• This pretty much goes without saying, but please do not rip!

• Do not re-distribute; if someone asks, please link them here.

• If you would like to use the template as a base for your own or something of the sort, please notify me first.

Required Fonts:

I am not allowed to post download links for the fonts, but to make things a bit easier, here is a list of fonts necessary to fully use the template:

• Matrix Regular Small Caps

• Matrix Bold Small Caps

• MatrixBook

• Matrix Fractions

• Stone Serif Sem SC ITC TT Semi

• Stone Serif ITC Medium (for Normal Monster text)

As usual Zex, I'm willing to adjust it for GIMP users if you'd like me to do that; since it should be clear that not everyone owns a copy of Photoshop to use this one fully.

(I have CS3 so using the original template isn't a problem, but it's on my XP computer; not using it right now)

Otherwise, new templates look great.

Hopefully you add the Pendulums at a later time.

EDIT: For members who need the fonts, here's a link to it: http://forum.yugiohcardmaker.net/topic/308603-fonts-for-yu-gi-oh-card-making-with-multilingual-support/

(I had linked this thread in the Pendulum thread as well; second page on post #40)

@ Sakura - Thanks for providing the fonts. And yeah, if you could tweak the text layers to be compatible with GIMP, that would be much appreciated. I really wish I could do it myself, but the last time I used GIMP was about three years ago, and I've completely forgotten how to function with it.

I would love to see an editable GIMP version of this template myself. You made a GIMP version for Zextra's Pendulum templates, but so far one for this one hasn't appeared yet. Has something happened?

Just remember that Zextra and I are both college students, and have our fair share of work to take care of.

Although I think I did convert it, but just didn't upload it yet.

Would be nice to have, since YCMaker (the guy in charge of updating our cardmaker) is essentially dead for all we care right now in terms of updates and stuff.

Ah, okay. Thanks. Sorry if I came off as rude.

Don't worry about it (although I'd probably guess people forgot about this, since Zex hasn't said anything since last September).

I do have his template converted (it's always on desktop).

Basically just adjusting it so you all can type your own name in the copyright area + stuff like that.

That, and some other changes.

Should be up shortly, pending internet (right now, it's kinda off-and-on because someone snipped the utility line).

For those of you who still want a Series 9 thing (and yes, I know a lot of you are using that new one in General), here's the XCF version of this template.

http://www.mediafire.com/view/h557nk6iyfkicm5/%5BZex%5D%20S9%20Template.xcf

(They should be compatible with the Pendulum template Zex has already made; linked for convenience)

Do keep in mind that because GIMP does not have access to the same holo name effects as the PSD does, there are some instructions on how to do so.

You haven't been around, but anyway I made a full-art orica template with this. Feel free to take it down if you don't want it. http://forum.yugiohcardmaker.net/topic/343944-full-art-orica-template-psd/

Yeah, school has been taking its toll on me - I don't remember the last time I was away from ycm for more than 2 weeks straight. Anyways, that's no problem; also, I really like what you've done with it~ :)

Basically, open the template and click on the text layer to edit it (goes for the name and effect boxes, along with the Type/Subtype stuff and whatever else).

You should have the ability to edit the text inside to whatever you need (you need not edit the layer effects like the Glow and whatever else).

If you want to change the Level stars, use the Rectangular Marquee tool and cut out the stars you don't want.

(Also keep in mind that since Zex isn't here a lot, I'll try to answer questions regarding the template)

Uhm, Zex, isn't that series 8?

The stars in the examples are most definitely not series 9.

Obviously good job nonetheless, just something that bothered me.

Thanks for your comment; I'm sure that there are minor things that aren't refined, but I do believe that my template is of the Series 9 card layout. The monster level/rank and attribute are more scrunched on the Series 8 layout, and there are also a couple of other minor differences such as the name bar being slightly shorter and wider, the card lore box being slightly wider, and the edition text (1st Edition, Limited Edition, etc.) moving to the bottom left corner next to the card number, etc.

For reference, compare the 2 Luster Dragons below - the first one which uses the Series 9 layout to the second one, which uses the Series 8 layout:
