Split Monsters: Two Monsters in One!

 This is my first go at a special Monster. So here's the information:

How they work:

Split Monsters can only be Split Summoned, which is where you tribute monsters you control, then divide their total levels by two to equal the Split Monster's Cost (Level, Rank, whatever). They go in-between two monster spaces, and they take up two slots. They can have two sets of ATK and DEF, one for each mode. They also have two Attributes and types, again for each mode. The Type, Attribute, ATK and DEF  on the right side is Mode 1, and the left side is Mode 2. Their Mode can be changed during your Main Phase instead of Normal Summoning, similar to Pendulum Monsters. When it would be destroyed or sent to the graveyard (Including tributing), it is just changed to the opposite Mode, and can't be changed back unless its re-summoned. It basically would act as if that half was removed. Then when its destroyed again, it is sent to the Graveyard.

Uses:

Other than being a shield, some Split Monsters will have different effects based on the mode they are in. They also are useful for summoning other monster like Synchros, but they can't be used for XYZ.

Example:

(This one does not have a Split effect. I know, I am trying to make it work while also fitting into the card space given.)

Any suggestions are appreciated!!! These are not the final workings.

I really like this idea. It has a lot of potential and is definitely one of the most interesting ideas I have ever seen.

As for the switching modes, does that count as your Normal Summon?

And when it is destroyed, you said it cannot be changed back unless it is resummoned; so does that mean you have to tribute the appropriate monsters to change its mode again? And so if it is destroyed, it stays on the field taking up  two monsnter slots?

I hade the exact same question, how would sswiching "modes" work exactly?

Sorry for it being a bit vague, I'll fix that. To answer your questions:

- Switching Modes counts as your Normal Summon

- It counts as 2 Monsters, even for Tributes.

- When its destroyed the first time, its stops being able to use the mode it was in. (If Split Graceful-Skull was in Mode 1 [Fiend], than it being destroyed would change it to Mode 2 [Fairy]. It would still take up 2 slots, as its 1 combined creature, not 2 creatures.

But these are just the ideas, anyone can suggest new effects and abilities!

In the future, just remake the thread since you are technically past the grace period for updates and all.

I have to lock this though; sorry about that.

Basically, it looks awkward for an old thread to suddenly be bumped in amongst a sea of newer ones (I should've caught this earlier).

However, you are free to repost it.
