Favorite tier: OU

Favorite type: Dark or Ghost because typespam.team

Much surprise. Also rip Magearna is one of my favorites to use

Welcome!

Scarf Rayquaza is under appreciated.

You can pretty much throw a movie to out both Primals, Draco Meteor, and Dragon Ascent to just about clean through anything

tbh I don't see why someone wouldn't just use Dragon Dance Ray instead, almost same thing except more power and versatility and getting a boost isn't terribly difficult.

You'd get out sped by faster Dragons like Ultra Nek or Mega Sal

Or a well placed Ice Beam from Poger or Moon from a geo'd Xerneas

V Create Does 180 Damage

Draco Met does 130

Sky Assent does 120

With a max'd out SpA and Speed stat you can usually land those and a 4th move of your choice (I pref EQ) w/ prio against your opponent of choice

Scarf is instantly applicable, which is important against Pokémon like Marshadow that are immune to Extreme Speed.

But if one wants to out the Primals, then you’d be better off with band, Specs, or Life Orb in order to maximize damage since Rayquaza sits at a higher speed tier than them anyway

I’ve seen Dragon Ascent 2hko some weird things even in AG so I sense that normal ray has a hard time OHKOing primals with stabs

I don't play OU, but I kinda wanna mess around with Mega Eons in follow up with Mew's Z move given the whole Psy field effect

You'd be better off fighting Marsh with Ekiller that knows Shadow Force right? Or maybe Gira-O with shadow sneak?

Tryna think what scarf ray could have to out Marsh

I'm mainly thinking about using Scarf Ray to out the primals, other dragons, or steels (like the annoying funking Nekrozma)

Yehh, but 185 damage mate...

Same thing with other Z-moves

If you want a strong Z-move then you could use Psychium Z Lele in fact, since you get the power from the Z-move, Stab, and terrain

Psychic spam really loves to have terrain up frequently so only having 5 turns to spam your moves isn’t conducive to 6v6

I saw someone using a Toxic Orb/Quick Feet/Guts/Toxic Boost/Poison Heal team and my god it was scary looking.

Haha shared power

So far Toxic Spam is my favorite team archetype because Stall is really fun with it

Problem is you lose to either Aerilate Noivern or Mold Breaker Haxorus

Don't think so, outside of OHKO moves, Genesis Super Nova is literally the strongest move in the game

I'd basically take Ray's place on my Uber team, scarfed, fast, high SpA. Mew can learn basically any other thing to quick out other OU threats

That being said, I don't play OU, so just spitballing atm

Scarf is instantly applicable

This is the key

Mew can’t use an item in conjunction with Mewnium Z

V-create and Boomburst are comparably strong considering you can use them multiple times but are still underwhelming because they are not on particularly strong Pokémon or the ones that use them don’t appreciate the stat drops

Mew is a jack of all trades but a master of none, meanwhile Lele is an offense machine and has the tools it needs to manage some of its switch-ins

My experience in Balanced Hackmons has taught me that putting your team on a timer, such as by allowing hazards to stay up, can make you lose. Mewnium Z as a lead seems reckless because Mew doesn’t particularly threaten Dark-Types and it only gets 5 turns of terrain. Meanwhile, Lele can predict a switch to Tyranitar and use Moonblast to hit it super effectively, and use Terrain Extender to have 8 turns of terrain.

Honestly though I don’t think Psychic Terrain is very important in OU because nothing uses priority. If Talon was still usable then it would be a different story but there’s pretty much no priority this gen. The best part about Psychic Terrain is that it gives an extra 1.5x to Psychic-Type moves, which is why in Balanced Hackmons there’s almost no -Ate yet Mega Mewtwo Y has swollen in popularity.

If Mew drops to UU then I’d say go for it but Lele is sort of more useful overall. And I definitely wouldn’t say Mew is comparable to Rayquaza in too many ways

As far as memory serves me Mew is best used as a specially defensive defogger with Knock Off and Stealth Rock

Edit Edit: Scarf Lele is pretty good

Somebody play my rusty ass in OU

Sadly I only have 3 OU teams (I have sorta fallen off a bit during this meta besides at the start) one was made quickly without much thought one was made at the very start of Gen 7 and one is just kinda bad but I wanted to try something.

That being said I'll be over there soon, lordcowcow.

Hey so Psychic Surge Suspect happens in Balanced Hackmons on Monday which is pretty fascinating. This is a great time for newcomers to try out a meta in which priority becomes slightly more important (wink wink)

I’m wondering if this could be the advent of a metagame that more closely resembles Generation 6 Balanced Hackmons which is very exciting. I still miss Mega Latias with Soul Dew though ;-;

The most notable change is that Mega Mewtwo Y will use Contrary, DQM (Dazzling/Queenly Majesty), or Magic Guard + Mind Blown over Psychic Surge on many more sets. I also presume that it will remain S tier because of its versatility.

Nevertheless, we will see fewer Dark-type Pokémon and probably more Flash Fire Steels to beat the surge of Ates. I’ll let you guys in on what I intend to use:

Diancie-Mega @ Safety Goggles

Ability: Pixilate

EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def / 252 SpA / 252 SpD / 252 Spe

Lonely Nature

- Extreme Speed

- Fake Out

- Spore

- Boomburst

Diancie-Mega @ Pixie Plate

Ability: Pixilate

EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Def / 252 SpA / 252 SpD / 252 Spe

Hasty Nature

- Extreme Speed

- Boomburst

- V-create

- Gastro Acid

First set checks anything on Hyper Offense that doesn’t have Dazzling, Queenly Majesty, or Triage, and uses Spore to bear Fur Coat Chansey. I wanted to fit knock off but I’m not sure where to put it because one of them needs fake out.

The second one is for Flash Fire Steels and the occasional Soundproof Slowbro. I actually use the latter on one of my teams and have enjoyed it a lot because it beats Mega Mewtwo X in most forms.

The first one is imposterproofed by pretty much any Steel-Type that has immunity to sleep, and the second one by Fur Coat Chansey.

I haven’t yet tested these sets so they may not be good, but they’re designed to beat the meta specifically. I also think one could use Triage Heracross or Rayquaza in this format again, but I’d be extra careful for DQM because people will spam it in place of their precious terrain.

If you want to learn more then let’s battle. If you don’t care then let’s battle.

This was probably me, just noticed it

Anyway double post. Here are some funny replays of making a new alt just to not spend 5 hours in queue

I hope I don’t sound too mean but like......this ladder is different than most because BH has a very very high skill curve. Yet sometimes ladder doesn’t even know how to play Pokémon. AG could make better teams even.

So here's a quick discussion topic I was thinking about.

Is there any Mon that you guys like using more than any other? Like one specific Pokemon you like having on your team.

For me it's definitely Lele, getting it in the position to sweep is so satisfying for me.

BUZZWOLE-GX-pokemon-60cards.jpg

I basically can't build teams without Buzzwole at this point. It hits so hard and can get hit so hard, and if it gets Beast Boost off a couple times, it doesn't go down easily thanks to Drain Punch and Leech Life. Buzzwole's pulled out some super-close wins for me that other Pokemon just couldn't manage, and I'm sure he'll pull more as time goes on.
