"What the hell is a Gustav?"

-This meal looks burnt. Or it could be half-baked-
This episodes showcases conflict; It's not like real arguments/etc. No. This episode is centered around Star's appearant jelousy over Marco having another "friend" over.

What I like about this episode is the fact Star gets progressivly darker, to the point of, like, by the end of it shes driven to an appearnat state of murder. But it's funny how they play it out, because it's all been a complete misunderstanding, given Gustav's perspective. Plus, the show, as a whole, is basically shipping Star with Marco anyway, so 'course she would get overly jelous.

Rob Paulsen being the voice of Gustav is pretty amusing by itself, simply for the fact that he can always delive, like, these ideal "Im totally fucked" screams, so it just adds a good level of amusemt to Gustav's character in the final scenes.

All in all, this is an enjoyable as a whole; The Diaz family is blisfully unaware of the two opposing sides(Star and Gustav) that are basically at war with eachother, and hilarity ensues between everything.
Oh, and Star having a 'Happy [x] day on earth!' party every single day is flat-out amazing.

Though, if you think about it, Star could just be this insane if only because she no longer gets cake every day. I mean, come on... It's free cake, every single day, for life. Who wouldn't want to pass up an amazing opprotunity like that? Plus, it helps set the mood and gives us a great deal of contrast as to what is secretly going on.

"Rainbow zombies are best zombies"

-[Insert Thriller-cliche here]-
Ok look, this is honestly my all time favorite, if not, one of my favorite, episodes of Gumball. I love every bit of it, and I'll be happy to elaborate.

This episode plays out, in a similar manner to movies like Cloverfield/etc, in the sense that it's implied to be a documentary of sorts. The perspective of this takes into effect when Mrs.Simian takes over as the main character, which occurs right around the time of Gumball and Darwin "dieing", and thus, turning into zombies that drool a rainbow-like substance.
Speaking of which, the fact that said zombies can infect you simply by sheer contact and nothing else, just makes the whle series of events sillier then it needs to be, and I flat-out love it. They even do cute, yet creepy, instances of things like Gumball going after Penny, and Anais acting like a Witch from Left4Dead. If anything, I'd be afraid of the fact that Tinna, a fuckin' T-Rex, is now roaming the earth as a rainbow-zombie(I'm calling them that; sure).

It's quite scary in it's own right, knowing that Ricahrd literally causes the apocolypse, given the fact that he started all of this, and the fact that it can spread through an entire school with a good number of students in it, in a rather short period of time. Now if you take into account the fact that the cops/etc are useless in Elmore, it's to say that the entire is planet is doomed to ever exist. Part of me wants to be weird and write that as a fanfic, but I know that would get out of hand reeeeally easily, so I'll pass.

This episode also has an amusing point about it, because Mrs.Simian, of all characters, ends up playing the rle of the hero in this series, simply for the fact that she is perpetually miserable. Though, you have to give her points for stopping Bandage-Nurse(I never remember her name) via sticking her to the wall. So it's funny for the fact that Simian is fully aware of the fact that the former is capable of beng stuck to things like that.
In fact, this episode has a lot of stuff like that. For instance, the "bloody" text that appears on the screen even ends up whacking Simian in the face, to which the later then moves it out of the way. We even get to see the world through the eyes of someone who is 'infected' by that rainbow effect; It's almost like TF2's Pyroland, and it's amazing. Though, live-action Gumball is rather out of place. Speaking of which, I still love how Gumball is both physically, and literally, incapable of turning his smile around. Gets quite disturbing when you even see his face morph back into it's slasher-smile gaze after he pulls his mouth off and actualy puts it back on upside down.

This episode even goes the extra distance to have the character in question holding the camera, to deliver a few lines before falling victem to whatever is going on, just like movies of the same style often do.

So as you can see, I love this episodes for various reasons; The stark contrast of the zombie aspect combined with the rainbow colors, the fact that Gumball and Darwin are pushed aside in favor of Simian to be the main character(totally out of irony), and the fact that Richard single handedly caused the end of humanity.

As for you, the reader, you can make of this episode as you see fit. It gets weird here and there, sure, but as a whole, it's just too silly.

-Enjoy

Just noticed that I left the "Starts at 11-whatever" on the remote.
*sigh* That's what I get for copy-pasting some things. Fixed it now, anyway.

Posting because, I think the 3rd episode would be a good time to introduce the idea of doing a co-review with someone. And in that case, it will go about things a little differently.
Likely, it will skip some of the plot in the review, and be more about the commentary. Or something like that. I haven't decided yet.

Kay so like there's a loooot to read here, and I read it, but general thoughts is...
This is fun, your running commentary makes me smile.

Glad to hear.

And these are in 'episodes' on purpose, so you could just pick any of them.
I'll update the OP with a list of them, if/when I get to 2 or so pages. But now, there is no rush for me to do it.

EDIT: Changed my mind about Episode 3 being a co-review. I'll do that one later, because reasons.

-IT WAS RICHARD IN BATHROOM WITH AN AXE!-
*ahem*
Clue jokes aside, this episode is darker then what you would expect. It's not like the rainbow zombies, since that one is overshadowed by it's silliness(Not like it's a bad thng). This one is dark because it features the return of someone in particular, and it's rather disturbing how it plays out. I'd rather you watch the episode then actually read about it, because the suspence it builds is pretty cool for what it's getting at. Especially because when the cop of Elmore literally calls it quits mid-episode, literally even gives himself a big decline in this progress/etc, in favor of being incredibly lazy; That scene makes me laugh my ass off. Every time.

Anyway, this episode has Gumball trying t figure out whats going on, and why things keep disappearing in his house, and it's up to him and Darwin to figure this out. This episode plays itself out like it's a slasher movie of sorts, in the sense that you know something is wrong but you don't know when it's going to appear- They even poke fun at this when they mention the screen is shaking, only for it to actually be heavy breathing/whatever.

This episode also proposes a looming threat that is present in this series, because it's a continuation of a former episode, and even hints at the end ending of another later episode- LOOK I SAID I DON'T WANT TO GIVE AWAY TOO MUCH; THIS EPISODE IS HONESTLY BETTER WATCHED THEN READ ABOUT.
'Course, the antics in this episode are mostly for the fact that Gumball/Darwin both play around with the episode's expected results and both end up being incredibly genra savvy. So it's cute that they are fully aware of the tings going on, yet, still play into it's hands.

-Wtf Armz, why dont you provide us with a link to it?-
You can find episodes for this show in a lot of plces. Hell, even YouTube has the whole series.
(Just make sure you have an account and/or can verify your age first)

*ahem*

FLCL/"Fooly Cooly" is arguably the, if not, one of the, weirdist anime you will ever see. It's a ball of crazy that is only capable of being fueled by even more levels of crazy, to end up as one big clusterfux of weird. But at the same time, that's the whole appeal of this short series, because everything is stylized in it's own unique way. So if your looking for a show that features mecha, guitars, and otherwise goofy antics, complete with an amazing soundtrack; This is that show. Not to mention, Canti, the series' iconic TV-headed robot that this series is also known for.

The story is centered around Naota/'Takun'/'Tarokun'/whatever-people-call-him; He has a few nicknames by some of the other characters, and his whole journey of coming of age. Naota acts more mature for his age and even goes the distance to say nothing actually happens in his town. Along the way he meets Haruko, some crazyass girl from parts unknown who rides a scooter and wields a guitar. Accompanied by these two is the infamous Canti, a robot that appeared out of Naota's head. Hilariy ensues from the antics involving these three. The rest of the cast ranges from other family members, to government-type guys, to whatever they feel like. It's a show that's not about why... It's about why not?

The entire 6 episodes of this series deal with the relationship between Naota, Haruko, Mamimi, and whoever else is involved in that triangle of sorts; These eventually escalate to mecha fights and otehrwise off-the-wall action sequences. After all, this IS a Gainax series. So what would you expect?

FLCL's humor is equally as bizarre as the series itself, because it's full of fourth-wall-breaking humor, crap-passed-the-radar jokes, plenty of visual gags(slapstick included), and other silly antics that make for an incredibly hilarious series.

Personally, I love this series. Haruko's sanity is questionable at best because sometimes she comes off as being completely insane, while at other times it seems more like she is the only sane member. Naota being a perpetual straight-face just adds to a lot of this, mostly BECAUSE his 'Im older then I look' attitude ends up making him the only serious character among the usual weirdness, and this plays off against Haruko's general crazyness; The contrast is amazing. Canti, tho... Canti and his infamous TV-head are just outright cool as hell; Canti's ability to turn into a giant cannon is just straight-up badass and adds another level of awsome to his already amazing appearance.
So despite the anime being incredibly short, it's still highly amusing. And if your into the complete and utter madness that is FLCL, then I can guarntee you, that you will love this series. If not, then oh well. I mean, it is a Gainax series. So expect just that.

"IT'S CONFIRMED"

63196Remote.png
(Remote is a link to a better version of the episode; Just watch the first episode)

Today's meal will be served to you by the following chef:
62275ChefHatR.png
photo-76493.jpg?_r=1428712776

-Fair warning, spoilers ahead-
This episode's name has Half-Life in it.
Steam trains are a plot point.
Dog struts his stuff with a fancy hat.
Cat owns all the money, and even runs a business that prints money for him.
Cat, Dog, and Winslow are 3 people in this.
The Greaser Dogs are 3 people.
3 + 3 = 6.
Cat and Dog share the same dream.
Sharing means deviding it.
6 devided by 2 is 3.
A triangle has 3 sides.
PORTAL 3 CONFIRMED, GUISE

Ok but seriously... This episode, like a few other CatDog episodes, features sibling rivalry as the main focus of things. Cat has this elaborate model house/etc, Dog has these toy trains/etc, BOTH OF THEM BELONG TO THE SAME SET BUT APPEARENTLY THEY TREAT THEM AS THEIR OWN SEPERATE THINGS. 'Cept this is where the plot thickens, because appearently they can't share the same space. K.
So we have our usual brotherly conflict over some crap regarding the fact that they can't share. To be fair, Cat is a neat-freak, whare as Dog doesn't mind if other things end up messed up. Go figure.
But anyway, that's just to se the mood of things, because upon going to sleep they both have their own version of the same dream that features disney-esque versions of everything with their own musical numbers, etc, etc. Cat is *ahem* literally a rich fatcat. Dog is a boxcar hobo and/or *AHEM* a mangey mut. This episode is silly like this. Cat owns everything, but he lacks companionship. Dog is free to do whatever he pleases, but he lacks a roof over his head. So down the road some antics happen involving Dog having to save Cat's ass because Cat tends to underestimate things- He winds up getting the Greasers after him, to which, they corner Cat in a similar manner to... You know, I really can't think of a good comparison because a few of them are on my mind for this.

Now Dog ends up Saving Cat, as I just mentioned, by helping him onto the same train that he is on, and they both escape the Greasers together, to which, they both end up fulfilling the other's own needs; Cat has a friend, Dog has a house, etc.
But it's funny, cuz' the whole episode only exists like this because Cat randomly decided to fire some of his workers just for gits and shiggles. So when they both wake up, they come to an understanding of how they can repair their train set/etc and things are all happy-like. K.

What I always like about this episode is the style of how they went about it. I mean, the retro disney-esque approach is interesting, and it's even complete with all the characters being black and white. 'Course, that's on purpose, since everyone in this episode is just an exagerated version of themselves, and it also show offs how everyne basically sees the world, and from their own perspectives. So it leaves you with some food for thought, while also being an appealing episode by itself. Plus, it's cute how it resolves itself and proves to be one of the better episodes of the series... IMO.
Oh, and Dog still looks amazing in this episode.

Thar:
I'm gonna admit something: I'm warming up to this show. Reason I resented it so much is because I felt such a nostalgic passion for the original with the conflicted ending leaving a bad taste in my mouth, which made me want more. Seeing this in its current style is just... not what I grew up with. But while watching this episode, I got a few laughs and actually started to connect with the Titans like I did in the original, just in a comical way, which in itself is actually more uplifting.

Armz:
MOTHERFUCKING RAINBOW ARMS
TTG_friendship_208a_1.png

Thar:
Seeing Raven this giddy over something so cute and innocent is rather out of character for her, even but I absolutely loved it. Her reaction to being in an episode was priceless.

Even the scene beforehand was entertaining, especially Starfire trying to make references despite not knowing any. Watching Control Freak getting owned several times over was also hilarious, more notably for the fact that not a SINGLE scratch ever appeared on him when the smoke cleared. What a stud.

Lonk:
Were one of those ponies voiced by Tara Strong... in her Twilight Sparkle voice?!
I also love how Control Freak symbolizes the stereotypical brony we all know and love on the internet.

Armz:
Yea, they decided to crank the meta-level up to 11 by having Tara voice one of them. Gets even sillier when you realize that shes also giving the expected friendship lesson.... Heh.

Lonk:
I've noticed that all of the pegasi are females and all the unicorns are males. Also, pegasuses vs pegasi. Every brony grammar enthusiast knows that it is pegasi.

Armz:
But it's fine, we came up with 'Flerd' instead.

Lonk:
I can honestly say that this episode succeeded as being an affectionate parody to My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. What I liked about this episode in particular was that it presented the stereotypes well, but didn't put it on too thick on my chest.

Armz:
To be fair, with regards to Control Freak...
It'd be obvious he would be into the show. I mean look at him! Hes into, like, everything! just like me
I think my favorite part has to be Beast Boy trying to become a pegasus. It's so hilariously awkward and outright disturbing, but it's just too funny regardless.

Thar:
I saw what they did there with Beast Boy. Guess Discord was feeling a bit queasy *badum tssss*.

Lonk:
I don't know, but BB tried turning into Rainbow Dash only to end up as a deformed Gilda. No wonder Butterbean and the other pegasus were terrified of him!

Thar:
That fight scene against the unicorns looked like a clip from Happy Tree Friends without the gore, and Sparkleface saying she actually enjoyed watching it... it's like they intended to make a satirical "cute and morbid" joke. Probably my favorite part of the whole episode.
So next we have a plot twist leading to a bigger struggle, big troll, defeat it with understanding, bla bla bla- RAINBOW ARM HUG!!!

Armz:
So like.... Whenever they show that episode now in Gotham, is it always going to have the Titans in it?

Thar:
So they finally get out, aaaaaaaaand no one learned anything. top kek

Lonk:
All in all, while Friendship was a good episode, I'm still not fond of TTG in general. If it was an original show instead of a spinoff, then everything would have been much better.

Thar:
So yeah, I actually feel over my little distaste for this show. I won't watch it on my own time, but if I stumble across one on TV or something, I'll watch it.

Armz:
As for me, while it's not my favorite episode of the series, per say, it's still one that I highly enjoy, but not because of it being a massive MLP reference.

-Enjoy

Okay this was pretty fun, nice to see varying opinions, I like how you laid this out.

As for the show itself. It has its moments, but it also has its bad moments...And gotta agree that, it being a TT spinoff leaves a bad taste in my mouth (And I am not a fan of the obsessed over cute things they have for Raven, seems too cliche and meh.)

But it's not the worst thing, sometimes fun.

-I FIND YOUR LACK OF VIDEO URLS TO BE DISTURBING-
Look, Vader, shoosh.
Much like FLCL, you can also find the episodes of this series anywhere. However, unlike FLCL, you can watch these on YouTube without having to log in first.
It's faster. Or whatever.

SHRADOW SAID HE WAS REWATCHING THIS SERIES(At the time I posted this) SO IM MENTIONING IT CUZ' I LOVE IT

I'll be honest with you. I come back to this series every now and then. Like, it's really good. Really good.
The premis of this series is the same as Megaman X/iRobot/etc; It's about humanity adopting to a life style of free(-ish) thinking robots, and the potential conflicts that are bound to occur. Me? I for one welcome our new robot overlords.
*ahem*

The episodes themselves always have their own story to them. Like, it's just an adventure of the week(and they do, in fact, form a story if you watch them all in order), but each episode also exists as it's own story; Usually it's centered around some tragedy and/or otherwise misunderstanding, and the characters relevent to the plot/etc come to an understanding of sorts. Sometimes at the cost of a loss. Or whatever.

This series takes itself very seriously. It's only 'happy' when it wants to be, since otherwise it's oddly dark/gloomy what some of the episodes are about. Hell, even Tenma's entire well being is just him dwelling on his older past, and trying to come to terms with it.

The series follows the main character Astro, as he, basically, serves as the ambassador between humanity and machines. This is because Astro is the first robot(in this series) with the ability to think/feel/etc all on his own. Just like Megaman

Astro himself basically gets stalked by Tenma, his original creator(SPOILER; THEY TELL YOU REALLY EARLY), who sends various robots after him as a means of "testing" his potential. And by "testing", I mean typicaly putting everyone else in danger.
Oshay(w/e), his current owner/mentor/etc, helps to guide him along is intended path and otherwise assist with Astro's past. Later on, Astro gets a sister named Zoran, who- Shes your typical annoying younger sibling, but they play it for laughs with an added bit of diabetic cuteness. So it's all in good fun.
Along the way, we get other characters who fit their own roles that play different parts in Astro's life.

What I like about this series, honestly, is the fact that nobody is truly evil in this. It's always because of some selfish/etc motif that someone does something that creates a mountain out of a molehill, and Astro ends up saving the day as a result. Or, as I mentioned, the characters that are more relvant to the plot realize their own faults, and try and make up for it. Like, it's interesting to note that it's rare for episodes in this series to have an honest, happy ending. 'Cept maybe the actual ending of the series itself, but that was a requiremet if you went and watched all the other episodes up to it. And it's really damn incredible how the series resolves itself.
So if your looking for a fun series to watch, but with deeper meanings and darker undertones without being outright 2edgy4me, then I hihgly suggest you watch this series.

-Enjoy

"Grimlock attacked his weak point for massive damage"

Today's meal will be served to you by the following chef:

photo-76493.jpg?_r=1428712776

-GRIMLOCK IS THE BEST PART OF THIS SHOW-
Link to 'Meet Grimlock' video, btw^

To find episodes of this show, you have to actually use Google/etc, as a few sites tend to be hit or miss. I apologize for the lack of an actual link, partially because I'm being lazy for no honest reason.
*ahem*

This 'episode' is mostly at RAEG's request, so here goes...

*takes a deep breath and exhales*
This series takes place after Transformers Prime. However, you don't exactly need to watch that series beforehand, unless you want to know why Optimus isn't exactly present.
Bumblebee is the team leader this time around. Guys, it's finally happened. Bee gets to be the hero!
Though, not exactly a Prime, per say, he still kinda' sorta' takes up that role. It's fine, really, because this series goes out of it's way to "different". Both visually and conceptually. So it's a 'new' thing, K?

Bumblebee is the main character here, and tries his best to fill Prime's shoes, along with his team that consists of-
Strongarm, the text-book police officer who wants to senpai to notice her want to prove her worth to Bumblebee.
Sideswipe, the cocky youth figure, and the red oni to Strongarm's blue oni. Seriously, the dynamic between these two is adorable.
Aaaaand Grimlock. The ex-Decepticon on parol who aids the team- GRIMLOCK IS ONLY A FORMER DECEPTICON CUZ' ITS AN OBSCURE NOD TO THE FALL OF CYBERTRON GAME. Look, don't dwell on this. Please.
You also get 2 human characters in this, Russel and Danny. Russel is the tag-along kid, while Danny is the father who owns the local junkyard. Said location also doubles as the hideout for our Autobots. It's silly, but it works.
Finally, we get Fix-It. Fix-It is a Minicon who doubles as the team's intel of sorts. Think of him as Alpha 5 from the Power Rangers. Or at least, that's the way I tend to see him... Heh.
But anyway...

The premise of this series is like a middleground between TF Animated/Rescue Bots(Both work, but it depends on how you choose to view this) and TF Prime. By this, I mean the cast is played out like a bunch of goofy oddballs, but then becomes serious/dedicated to the plot when the time calls for it. Transformers G1 and Beastwars were kinda' sorta' like this, so having another partially comedic series is always nice.

This series' episodes, as expected, follow an adventure-of-the-week formula. Typially they feature an escaped Decepticon or whatever that serves as a boss-like character that the team has to collectively subdue and what-not, in order to bring him into custody. Or whatever. Along the way, we also get to meet other familiar faces from the TF universe, like Jazz and Drift-Chan Drift. Cameos are always fun.

So for all intensive pourposes, this series is rather strange for a Transformer series; Optimus isn't present, and for all inteisve purposes, we don't know if Megatron will do so as well- Your probably annoyed at me saying this, aren't you?
Peronslaly, if your a big Transformers fan, I'd suggest you give this series a try. It's honestly not that bad, and it's shaping up to be quite interesting(It only has like 13 eisodes at the time of this post). Plus, what they did with the characters is pretty cool. Especialy Grimlock. Speaking of which, he shares the same voice actor as that of Teen Titan's Cyborg; BOO-YEAH!

Oh, and real fast... This series makes for ausing gifs, so....

I'm attempting a new thing; Thoughts on a show/etc that's in production/coming out/etc.
So bare with me.

-KND =/= KFC; shoosh-

Remember how, like, back in 2008 we saw the series finale of KND with Nigel going into space?
WHELP.... WE NOW GET TO SEE WHAT HAPPENS NEXT- Let's be honest, we all wanted to know.
So given the 'teaser' of sorts from that clip, turns out that the Galactic Kids Next Door comes off as being on the 'power mad' side, as evidenced by them wanted Numbah 1 to proceed with what they planned. Like, the ideals they have are straight forward, and continuing from what we were left off with; It's a super special awesome squad of "kids" from around the galaxy/etc that formed a team set out to combat adult shenanigans all over the universe.

....'Cept it's implied they have extreme methods for doing so, and this proposes an interesting threat of sorts, in the sense that Nigel is merely doing what he believes is best for the good of all humaity, rather then giving it a second thought. So it's possible this will be darker/edgier, and potentially more screwed up then the series already was. So it's just food for thought, as of now, as to what will become of this series.

As for me, I'm interested in where this could be going. Plus, it's nice to see KND getting a continuation of sorts, after all these years.

EDIT #1:
New trailer; OH MY GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSH

-The ride never ends-
Armz:
So this 2-parter episode features communism as the main point, only for it to come falling down over the most mundane issue ever.
'Course, it was bound to happen, given the fact that Starlight was the only one who wasn't some washed monotone color.

Sleepy:
I'm pretty sure most people already got the blatant motif here, but I'm gonna say it anyway. This episode is pretty straight-forward at critiquing Communism. Everypony is no more and no less to any other fellow pony out there down to appearance, talents or even personalities. It even pointed out one of the biggest defects of Communism: Because we don't leave in a perfect world and neither do ponies, someone has to be in charge to keep things equal and in check, and the leader not putting him/herself under the same conditions, even getting to the point of using this position to his/her benefit, that completely pops the bubble. It happened with Stalin, when the Soviets were equally poor to each other despite their country itself being a powerful one, though in the case of Starlight Glimmer the scale was low enough that her townsfolk could easily revel against her.
Err I don't mean for this to be a political speech xD

Armz:
I fdount it amusing how all the guys in the village were shaved, and had buzz-cuts and shorter tails. This is like how the military shaves all it's troops/etc, because they don't want things like hair getting in the way of the soldiers. It's fitting, because they gave the impression that the male half of the village would act as Starlight's own personal army if need be. Speaking of which, I'm pretty sure at least half the population in said village were male. Since, you know, the army/etc is basically all guys.

Sleepy:
Yes everybody everypony was shaved and all girl or rather most girls had the same hairstyle. I noticed that most notoriously when they got back their cutie marks because suddenly all of them were very different from each other. I'm going to assume the un-marking did that even though the mane6 didn't suffer physical changes other than getting grayer and the equal sign cutie marks. Is that a nit-pick?

Speaking of which, how long do you think Starlight Glimmer spent on that place making the town? It looks like it was long enough for people to really get attached it, but not long enough to have those skies get ruined by the weather after being abandoned at the outskirts of town. This could be relevant in the future because you know, she did escape and could be starting from scratch pretty soon elsewhere.

Armz:
Safe to say she used slave labor got everyone else to "help" make the houses/etc, since otherwise it doesn't look like anything else in the area could have helpped. Unless she had oddly specific magic or something. And it's weird, during the creation of her own house, don't you think anyone else would have found it suspicious?

Sleepy:
By the way, couldn't help but realize that during the scene where Twilight was unmarked she used pretty much the same animation used when she was firing those friendship death-beams at Tirek. My stomach made a little twist right there because I thought they had established you needed some amount of power to get to an alicorn's level. Tirek had to absorb a ton of magic to get there. So now I'm to assume Starlight Glimmer actually could un-mark all four of the princesses? Maybe I'm reading too much into it.

Armz:
Also, this is still going to annoy me, but I can overlook it; Cutie Marks were never a set-in-stone ideal. But with that "=" mark, it seems to enforce it because they are embedded with a sort of magic that causes any 'difference' to be nullified. Which would explain why Dash couldn't really fly. But Dash's flight speed was purely her own thing, and not something that was exactly tied to her Cutie Mark.
It's a random detail, but still....

Sleepy:
It probably doesn't look like it but I DID like the episode.

Since Starlight Glimmer escaped it, we will definitely be seeing more of her throughout the season in at the very least one more episode. This caused me to get this really subtle vibe that season five will be similar to the structure of some shows from the 80s, with the group of main heroes assembled at some fancy base a la justice hall which will have the ability to magically detect trouble as soon as it arouses, typically being the same enemies striking again with their evil plan of the episode. It was more or less like that for He-Man or the Power Rangers. The entire season could very well be sitting on this concept or they could be planning to break the formula somewhere down the road before the season finale, we'll see...

Armz:
As for myself, I still think it's a silly way to open season 5. It works, regardless, so that's always good =D

Full Episode 8
Full Episode 19

-Physics in Gundam is a myth, anyway-

The first video is a sped-up version of the fight in Episode 19, but that's beside the point.
I appropriately mentioned this a bit back in that Build Fighters topic, but I want to do something silly and make a post on this.

The episodes that feature Astray as a main point have a suspicious level of medium awareness to them, and it's executed in a brilliant manner; EXPECT SPOILERS HERE.

It starts in epissode 8, obveiously.
Astray and Tallgeese' clash swords and at like 18:15 Astray's sword cuts through Geese' sword. Realistically, both swords are made of the same plastic substance. However, within this area, Geese' sword is now made of whatever energy the Plavsky particles deem it being made of. The medium awareness takes into effect here because Astray's sword can seemingly cut through Geese' own sword. So it doubles as somewhat of a weird in-joke because the substance of Geese' sword is questionable, despite the fact you would still think it would be the same material as Astray.

It continues in Episode 19, and is arguably a lot sillier.
Astray uses a technique of sorts to use his own partcles to destroy Strike from within. After each of them rebuild the arms they lost, and Astray attempt to do the same technique again, only to be stopped by.... Glue. This other bit of medium awareness plays on the fact that Gunpla within a Plavsky Particle area can only damage other Gunpla because said particles were basically made for Gunpla(and maybe paint) and nothing else. So naturally, any foreign object/substance/etc would be uneffected by this, and as a result, Astray couldn't destroy Strike's arms again because they were covered in said glue; Basically the glue is what was keeping Strike in tact, because Astray's technique couldn't fully connect to Astray due to the glue blocking it.

What makes it quite humorous is the fact that Gunpla in Build/Build Try are all snap-together, and not once do you see anything else used to hold them together. It's traditional/respectable, sure, but if you think about it, you could basically cover a Gunpla in ducktape/glue/etc and it would be invincible within the area.

Sucks that Astray only really had 2 fights, since they both present an amusingly hilarious ideal about Gunpla fights within the series itself.
Though, Nills did help make that SD Knight Gundam in that other episode, and that one also played with the Medium Awareness trope, but that's another story.

-TRANSFORM AND ROCK OUT-

Animated is honestly my all-time favorite Transformer series. Don't get me wrong, I like every Transformers series for their own take on things, but this series in particular is always in a league of it's own and I flat-out love it for that.

This first season features Optimus n' friends in adventure-of-the-week battles/shenanigans/other antics/etc and features various other characters along the way.
Season 2 kicks into more of a story-driven series when Megatron finally shows up at the end of Season 1- SPOILERS LEL- *ahem* Megatron makes the series more serious because the Autobots have an actual threat on their hands.
Season 3- OH MY GOSH I LOVE SEASON 3; Season 3 is just magical because everything gets cranked up to 11 and it just adds so much more.
And that's the series in a nutshell.

Or at least, at first glace.

Upon actually watching this series, it's actually more of an obscure Transformer multiverse that's going on, because you see other Transformers/references/etc to the other TF series that came before this one, and it just becomes an easter egg hunt to see what reference is what, and how things are played out. Like, the episode Garbage In Garbage Out for example, just a clusterfux of references to the G1 movie.
You also get nods to Beast Wars with the episode Predacons Risings, Mario and Luigi-esque Constructicons in Rise of the Constructicons, Sound and Fury has a G1-styled Soundwave that eventually evolves into a much more imposing form with fuckin' Kamina glasses, etc. Just everything about this series is wild, heavily reference based- And not to mention, the humor of this series plays on itself.
For example, one of the shorts lampshades the hell out of Optimus:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ht5uJXhJr74
...And it's just perfect.

Hell, even Optimus uses an axe if you want to go that far

Aaaaaaaaaaand then there is Sari. Sari is the human-kid/etc of this series, and like... Shes sort of a wildcard that does whatever she wants. Can't really blame her, really, since her Dad, like, owns the whole tech industy of the entire city. Plus, she makes for amusing conversations and is an all around silly character.

So as a whole, this is just a really fun series to watch. You don't need to be able to catch the references this series has to offer to be able to watch/follow along this series(It ran from 08 to 09, mind you). But if you do, then it just becmes so much more.

-Enjoy

Decided to update the first few episodes.

By that, I mean I made them shorter/more in-line with the rest of the posts.

Dunno' why I never did that earlier.

Anyway, I have a few posts planned, but some of them require another person to review something with. So the next one will either be another solo post, or a co-review with someone. Whichever happens first and/or it's Saturday and I've yet to post.

-The show that never was-
Reviewing a pilot; Just go with it.

So this was series that was pitched back in 2006 and was eventually made into a series of shorts for CN's DC Nation; The first video is an example of one.

Whats amusing about the pilot/shorts, is the fact that... In addition to not only voicing Plastic Man himself, but also being a co-creator and one of the writers on it- Basically half this show is Tom Kenny. So in addition to the antics you would expect from a character like Plastic Man, the humor is about on par with the earlier Spongebob episodes(Or at least, the way I'm seeing it)
So it's wacky antics, slapstick humor, and an abundance of puns/one-liners =D
(Plus a few instances of getting crap passed the radar... Heh)

However, this was never greenlit. Which is a bit of a shame, because this has potential. 'Course, there are some people out there(me included) who still wish for this to be a series. Hey, we can hope.
*ahem*

This shorts themselves are pretty amusing in their own right, seeing as how they feature a bunch of goofy antics- The shots don't really take themselves seriously, if it wasn't obveious enough. Not that it's a bad thing, because the pilot/shorts were meant to be comedic.

-This looks like the Digimon movie...-
BOTH WERE MADE BY MAMORU HOSODA, SHOOSH

Reviewing a movie, mostly cuz' I feel like it. And because at the time I posted this, I was thinking about This movie again.

The main plot to This movie is the fact that the whole internet(or at least, what the internet is in this movie) was hacked, and the kinds of disasters you would expect would follow from something like this. But in this case, said internet is literlaly in charge of everything.
So it's up to everyone to try and resolve this disaster and save the planet from an impending nucelar death.
'Course, it also focuses on a we-fall-in-love scenario that takes place at the end of the film and is also played out through the entire thing.

But lets be honest... The main Oz segments are what everyone is actually watching this fore(I watch it for everything, but still)

The fight scenes in this movie between the various 'avatars' range from being straight-up hand-to-hand combat, to elaborate traps with the intention of beating the movie's main badguy in an unconventional method. Both are fine, since it leads to amusing scenarios regardless.
Aaaaaaaand then we bring it all to a close with a card game to decide the fate of everything =D

I like the idea of Oz' own avatar customization, because you can effectivly be whatever you want; Srsly, one of the family members is a damn winged-train
Summer_Wars_avaters_by_Chihiro_Chietam.p
(Clearly fanart, but that's beside the point)

Oz itself is an interesting setting anyway, given the fact that you basically have unlimited freedom in this area, and it's even made appearant through the events of this film. So it's really something.
Plus, lets be honest... This is the kind of internet a lot of us wish we had. Some kind of Megaman Battle Network/Oz/whatever thing- NO. NOT SECOND LIFE. OR WHATEVER THE FUCK THAT IS-
*ahem*
Oh, you know what I mean...

Anyway, this film is still a favorite of mine, even if it does come off as being a reimagined version of the Digimon movie from the human perspective, rather then that of the digital beings.
'Course, it's understandable why it's like that, but still...
