Card A:

qeI4gVp.jpg

Cannot be Special Summoned. During the End Phase of the turn this card is Normal Summoned or flipped face-up: Return it to the hand, then you can Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower Spirit Monster from your hand in face-down Defense Position, ignoring the Summoning conditions. If a Spirit Monster you control attacks, cards and effects cannot be activated until the end of the Damage Step.

Card B:

G2oVjGo.jpg

Cannot be Special Summoned. During the End Phase of the turn this card was Normal Summoned or flipped face-up, return it to your hand or remove 1 Spell Counter from it. Each time a Spell Card or the effect of a Spell Card is activated, place 1 Spell Counter on this card. During your Main Phase, you can activate this effect: Normal Summon 1 Spirit Monster with a Level equal to or less than the number of Spell Counter(s) on this card from your Graveyard in addition to your Normal Summon/Set this turn. You can only gain this effect of "Kyorinrin" once per turn.

Card A:

I was going to say that the artwork of this card is amazing, but then I searched its name to see the meaning of it, then I found out that it was ripped directly from a rpg game. That cuts a lot of the credit on the image for me. You even had the job to place the background of the spirit monsters, wow. Couldn't you just use another image related to that name? I mean, Taira no Masakado, according to the wikia, was the first samurai ever, it shouldn't be THAT hard to find something related to a samurai, right? Now going into the effect: brilliant. Spirits really need something to protect them. Yes, it is just when they attack but hey, it is one of the best form of protections in the game IMO and it is granted to all of your Spirit Monsters. It also replaces itself when goes back to the hand, and to balance it you made it special summon only level 4 or lower monsters. You could have gone further thought and made it special summon any Spirit monster from your hand, except Taira no Masakado. That could lead to some cool high level spirit decks.

Now for the stats, DARK is by far one of the greatest attributes and easily supported by common cards, like Allure of Darkness, some draw that spirits could use. 2400 ATK and DEF is also decent, even better than Armades and have the same effect. Again, I was about to say that the effect had nothing to do with the name because he was the first samurai and this does nothing like a samurai should do, like killing enemies (destroying a monster), or destroying something (poping a backrow), but looking further you can always say that, since Taira was dead long time ago, he is now a spirit (reasonable) and samurais have a lot of skill, thus meaning that if they attack an enemy, they won'y be able to do anything (not activating cards and stuff). It could mean any other thing, I just found it better this way.

Only one last thing, it is about the OCG. It should be "Spirit monster" not "Spirit Monster"

Card B:

Starting with the name: I tried to find a meaning to it but I couldn't find. The closest thing I could make was with the Google Translate and it turned out this "Phosphorus N distance". Going from there, I didn't find any realtionship of it with the card image. It became just a random image together with a random name to me. Not saying that the artwork is bad, it is cool and all but the name really killed me. If you have any reason beyond that name, I can change my mind on it. On the effect now. On paper it is pretty cool, everyone likes a new normal summon, but most of the Spirit Decks uses monster with level around 4. That means you have to wait to 4 spells to resolve. Yup, it counts Continuous spells that can activate every turn too but this card has no built in protection, you would have to waste cards to protect it so you can use its effect multiples times. Not even multiple times, one time only is already hard to. "But the counters wont't go way when you summon it". Still, hardly you will get 3 or more counters on it during the turn you summon it. It is also a tribute summon monster, you have to go -1 on field to activate a effect that a Level 4 monster can do it better (Nikitama gives yous extra summon a draw when goes to the graveyard). This card would just be one of theses high leveled spirit monsters that don't see play. Well, actually even then would see play before this one. For the stats, Level 5 is not that appreciated as Level 6 because they have a Spirit that can SS from hand for some Rank 6 plays. EARTH doesn't give anything you would want to run just because of this attribute in the deck and its ATK/DEF stats are poor for a Tribute monster.

That's why I am voting for Card A. Really enjoyed its effect, the only thing that killed me is that it is a already used image, could have been more creative about that.

Card A:

You know, I kinda dig this idea. You replace your Spirit since you went out of your way to Tribute Summon it, and Spirits now get Armades. I find that ok for the fact that you lose it at the end of the turn and because I feel that's something Spirits would want and need. Nikitama->This sounds like a decent power play, then SS Aratama at the end of the turn. Already liking the sound of that. The stats are also quite nice, and the DARK Typing sticks with Niki and Aratama. Overall, I dig

Card B:

I get what it was trying to do, but I just don't think this will work. The dedication and engine Spell Counters require is something fairly extensive, and a card like this on its own will not get the job done that's desire. You will have to activate AT LEAST 4 Spells to benefit off of this extensively, and that's a bit of a stretch. It's unique and interesting, I'll give it that, but on the playing the field, it isn't what you want to be going for, especially for 1 Tribute.

Overall, Card A gets the vote for being effective, practical, and fitting to Spirits in their current form
