"Igkneo" Pendulum Archetype

Recommended Posts

This is a Pendulum-oriented archetype I've started based mainly around field presence and Pendulum consitency, due to the use of differing L/R scale values (1 and 3) for the Pendulums.

Support to follow soon.

Level 2 Normal Pendulum monsters (no vanilla text as of yet):

Igkneo Adam/Level 2/EARTH/Rock/Pendulum/ATK-500/DEF-0
Pendulum Effect (1/3): You cannot Special Summon monsters, except "Igkneo" monsters. When a Level 2 "Igkneo" monster you control is destroyed by battle, you can shuffle it into the deck instead of sending it to the Graveyard, and if you do, Special Summon 1 Level 5 "Igkneo" monster from your Deck with the same Attribute as that monster. Whenever either player adds a card(s) from their Deck to their hand (besides the Normal Draw of their Draw Phase), the other player can draw 1 card from their Deck.

Igkneo Komat/Level 2/WIND/Rock/Pendulum/ATK-500/DEF-0
Pendulum Effect (1/3): You cannot Special Summon monsters, except "Igkneo" monsters. When a Level 2 "Igkneo" monster you control is destroyed by battle, you can shuffle it into the deck instead of sending it to the Graveyard, and if you do, Special Summon 1 Level 5 "Igkneo" monster from your Deck with the same Attribute as that monster. All monsters on the field lose 500 ATK, and if a monster's ATK becomes 0 due to this effect, neither player takes Battle Damage from attacks involving that monster.

Igkneo Rhyo/Level 2/FIRE/Rock/Pendulum/ATK-500/DEF-0
Pendulum Effect (1/3): You cannot Special Summon monsters, except "Igkneo" monsters. When a Level 2 "Igkneo" monster you control is destroyed by battle, you can shuffle it into the deck instead of sending it to the Graveyard, and if you do, Special Summon 1 Level 5 "Igkneo" monster from your Deck with the same Attribute as that monster. During the End Phase, the turn player can shuffle 1 card from their hand into their Deck, then draw 1 card (this effect of "Igkneo Rhyo" can only be used once per turn).

Igkneo Vario/Level 2/WATER/Rock/Pendulum/ATK-500/DEF-0
Pendulum Effect (1/3): You cannot Special Summon monsters, except "Igkneo" monsters. When a Level 2 "Igkneo" monster you control is destroyed by battle, you can shuffle it into the deck instead of sending it to the Graveyard, and if you do, Special Summon 1 Level 5 "Igkneo" monster from your Deck with the same Attribute as that monster. Monsters on the field cannot be destroyed by card effects.

Level 5 Effect Monsters:

Igkneo Adamellite/Level 5/EARTH/Rock/Effect/ATK-2500/DEF-0
Cannot be set. Cannot be Tribute Summoned except by tributing 1 EARTH "Igkneo" monster you control. Cannot be Special Summoned except by the effect of an "Igkn" card. When your opponent adds a card from their Deck to their hand (besides the Normal Draw of their Draw Phase), you can draw 1 card from your Deck. During the End Phase, you can banish 1 Pendulum monster from your Deck, and if you do, your opponent can banish 1 card from their Deck.

Igkneo Komatiite/Level 5/WIND/Rock/Effect/ATK-2800/DEF-0
Cannot be set. Cannot be Tribute Summoned except by tributing 1 WIND "Igkneo" monster you control.  Cannot be Special Summoned except by the effect of an "Igkn" card. All monsters on the field lose 500 ATK, and if a monster's ATK becomes 0 by this effect, neither player takes battle damage from attacks involving that card. If you control a monster(s) with 0 ATK, your opponent cannot select a monster you control with more than 0 ATK as an attack target. During the End Phase, you can banish 1 Pendulum monster from your Deck, and if you do, your opponent can banish 1 card from their Deck.

Igkneo Rhyolite/Level 5/FIRE/Rock/Effect/ATK-2300/DEF-0
Cannot be set. Cannot be Tribute Summoned except by tributing 1 FIRE "Igkneo" monster you control. Cannot be Special Summoned except by the effect of an "Igkn" card. Once per turn, during either player's turn, you can make both players shuffle 1 card from the hand into the Deck, then both players draw 1 card. During the End Phase, you can banish 1 Pendulum monster from your Deck, and if you do, your opponent can banish 1 card from their Deck.

Igkneo Variolite/Level 5/WATER/Rock/Effect/ATK-2600/DEF-0
Cannot be set. Cannot be Tribute Summoned except by tributing 1 WATER "Igkneo" monster you control. Cannot be Special Summoned except by the effect of an "Igkn" card. Once per turn, "Igkneo" monsters you control cannot be destroyed by an opponent's card effect. During the End Phase, you can banish 1 Pendulum monster from your Deck, and if you do, your opponent can banish 1 card from their Deck.

And the 1 current supporting Spell Card:

Igknesurrect/SPELL/Quick-Play
Pay 1000 LP to activate 1 of the following effects (you cannot Pendulum Summon the turn you activate this card, and you can only successfully resolve 1 "Igknesurrect" per turn):
- Special Summon up to 4 banished "Igkneo" monsters with different Attributes in ATK position. Destroy all monsters Special Summoned by this effect during the End Phase.
- Send up to 4 banished Pendulum monsters with different Attributes to the Extra Deck (face-up).

Please feel free to voice opinions and recommendations as they are very much appreciated. These cards are the starting core of the archetype and I intend on posting more support cards soon.

These are pretty cool.  It's like dragon rulers but actually balanced.

The one thing I fear though is that you can't use your extra deck at all.  While surviving on just main deck monsters is fine, it feels like you are missing out on some great rank 5 support.  The deck is actually kinda slow, since your big plays revolve around you crashing stuff.  I think you can remove the SS restriction based on how slow they are at the start.

There's 2 things on your cards that's confusing due to wording.

1) On all the lvl 2s, they say "instead of sending it to the Graveyard". Unless you plan to make non-pendulum lvl 2s for this deck, or I'm very much mistaken, I believe that phrase is unnecessary.

2) On the lvl 5s, is the banish from the deck optional for the opponent? The way it's worded, it makes it seem as though you banish your own cards... But then your opponent just says they won't banish anything.

Other than that and the fact that Komatiite's ATK is nigh unheard of for a lvl 5 (yeah, I know it loses ATK as well but wow...), I really like how this deck appears to work. Definitely an interesting take on the Pendulum mechanic.
