Other Details:

Geo stands at 5’8”, weighs 12.9 Stone (81.9 KG) with a slim body build. Outside of his Super Suit, Geo will often wear a red or white vest under a padded black with white trim sleeveless jacket, orange shorts or deep green cargo trousers and red sneakers that have loose or untied laces. A basic, gemstone encrusted bracer on his left arm keeps access to his powers at any time. Much like Robin, he will always wear his visor to protect his identity in public and in front of the team.

[// CONFIDENTIAL - Teen Titan Psychological Profile – Codename: Geomancer //]

Gabriel Teixeria, referred to by himself during our interviews and his fellow initiates as “Geo”, presents himself as an active and participating member of the group that remains cool and calm though intimidating situations, even boosting moral with witty comments about his opponents, though combat instructors have noted that Geo does have limits before he will disregard such notions in favour of more aggressive motions. This often triggered by endangering innocents or allies.

It has taken strong, affirmative action to dissuade Gabriel from using lethal force against his opponents in the ring once enraged, which underlines a deep-routed condition in his psyche of retribution, believed to be attributed to his bitter conflicts over the last 3 years to his antithesis, Gilimarto, and the threat made against his family, but has grown to apply to anyone who imitates the man’s actions or ethics. I strongly advise any future work on treating this to be a priority, before a live fire exercise goes wrong. Should he be appointed, his teammates must be notified of this: Geo will not admit this publicly or willingly without suffering strong emotional conflict.

In our sessions and secret observation of his casual lifestyle on the Watchtower, he shows a different pattern of behaviour:  Geo will tend to avoid getting involved in the affairs of others until he knows them well enough, seemingly distrustful, uninterested or resentment towards authority or challenges, particularly when it comes to situations involving compromise about affairs about himself. He often uses sarcasm as his main offence and reasoning as his defence for this means. However this is not course for concern: It simply takes Geo time to form a meaningful, healthy relationship with those around him, and once formed, will act relaxed, mischievous and helpful as any normal member of the Teen Titans are expected to be to each other.

Geo also lacks some interpersonal skills that a person his age would normally attain by socialisation because of this nature: he lacks any romantic interests, though his sexual urges seemingly remain normal (his amusing and mischievous comments about this have not been noted down for respectable reasons). In this reviewers opinion, Geo seems to be more interested at the moment to become close with the team before he gets closer to any one of them so he can dominate the sense of aloneness that has so far fuelled him. As such, avoid bring up the family in conversation around him.

I conclude the following about Geo as this: He shows promise as a valuable, trustworthy and dependable member of a Teen Titans force, but still remains driven by his past in negative ways: particularly fixated with retribution for those who have wronged without regard for their own rights or safety, even when it endangers his own. He separates himself from others willingly in a vain attempt to protect them, but will eventually open up. So long as his team can control and temper his hatred for those who step on others for their gain, Geo will make an excellent team member, and even as a potential candidate for leader should he conquer his inner demons of the past.
Gabriel Teixeria was born in the crude mining town of Rohas, Nicaragua. He was the youngest of three brothers: the other two being name Rio (14) and Jamie (17). The town of Rohas housed several hundred people, dominated by an illegal mining industry that employed underage workers into dangerous mines for precious jewels. Gabrial was pressured into working the mines from age 12 with his brothers by their parents. Gabrial despised it, being more interested in learning about the world, often using what little breaks he had to read some scavenged books about local legends.

Gabriel was moved around day to day to various mining camps hidden in the Bosawas Biosphere Reserve. Aged 15, Gabriel was moved to a mine that was situated near old Mayan ruins. Throughout the day, Gabriel began to hear whispers from the mine, which slowly drew him deeper and deeper into the dark caverns, until reaching an apparent dead end, where he broke though using his pickaxe. Breaking though, Gabriel discovered a hidden Mayan shrine that contained the Star Rainbow Gem.

Upon seeing the star-shaped jewel and gazing on the Mayan pictograms, he remembered a story from the story books he had read: 500 years ago the last King of the Maya wielded a jewelled sceptre that granted their empire great wealth and power, but then the Spanish Conquistadores learned of it and invaded, tearing apart the empire and eventually slaying the king. Fearful of God’s wrath over the magical staff, they decided to destroy it. While they melted the sceptre and scavenged the jewels, the Sceptre’s orb remained. Over weeks they shot it with pistols, threw it into furnaces and used gunpowder against it, but it remained. Eventually they used a golden pick to break the orb into seven parts: Six 3-sided pyramid parts and a star-shaped keystone, and send them to the corners of their conquered empire so it could never be reassembled again.

Gabriel was curious to find out if it was more than local legend, so he touched the Star Rainbow Gem and was thrown back by a powerful, multi-coloured light, granting him his powers. Shortly however then the brutes who ran the mine flooded in, converting the gem and wondering if there was any more behind the walls of the shrine, beginning to plant dynamite. Infuriated, Gabriel threw a rough emerald he had dropped from his mining pouch, which grew into a large shard that threw the men to the ground. Terrified, he fled the mines back to town, taking the Rainbow Gem and his mining pouch with him. However the mine’s men had followed him and took the lead, arriving to find his family threatened by the Boss, Gilimarto. The two brawled for several minutes, with Gabriel slowly acquainting himself with his powers throughout, before eventually knocking him and three brutes out into the silt-filled river below in the slums. It was a long night for Gabriel as he explained what had happened and what to do next. Gabriel eventually split up the normal gems between the family and himself, deciding to flee the town for better pastures and to prevent Gulimarto’s men to go after his family again. His family left the town and have not made contact since.

Over the last 3 years Gabriel travelled Central America, learning about his powers more and receiving an education from various tutors, learned to read Mayan so he could research more about the old legend that had granted his powers, and crafting the indestructible diamond visor that disguised his identity as Geo. As Geo he occasionally dealt with Gilimarto and his men, who continued to chase him as he liberated and sabotaged their illegal operations as retribution for threatening his family. This eventually crossed his path with that of the Justice League, who were after Gilimarto for smuggling weapons into North America, crossing the path of the New Blue Beetle. Being discovered, the Justice League decided to take Gabriel on as a Teen Titan initiate for many reasons, including for trying to stop his vengeful streak against Gilimarto leading to tragedy, along with trying to understand the connection of another Rainbow Gem that has been in storage for the last 20 years.
Human Qualities:

  • High average IQ (109).
  • Fluent in English and Spanish.
  • Knowledge on Mesoamerican history, culture and magic: Particularly Mayan.
• Geomancy: Granted by the power of the Rainbow Jewels, Geo can manipulate certain earth-based materials: mainly semi-precious and precious gemstone crystals. In particular, Geo can create, shape and manipulate them at will, but must wield a natural progenitor of that material to produce it, along with the stamina to fuel his power. These crystals can be shaped into blunt or sharp melee weapons, piercing projectiles that fire at high speed, walls, shields and even crude armour. The growth of these crystals is not instantaneous and cannot be infinitely complex: large or complex structures take time and large amounts of stamina, and the natural and scientific properties of these materials are also taken into account. While made from cardinal gems, the crystal structures are imperfect and full of imperfections, making them not jewellery quality (except in concentrated bursts over sustained sessions). Each material that Geo can grow also grants a supernatural power:
    • Quartz: Low-Power Healing: The equivalent to providing painkillers and adrenaline, along with instant bruise and cut regeneration.
    • Amethyst: Magical Defence: Amethyst is strong against non-physical magic attacks.
    • Sapphire: Generic Use: Geo has yet to learn how to use sapphires for other then a basic material.
    • Emerald: Projectiles: Emerald is used by Geo as his preferred material for shard-shaped projectiles against opponents, along with his aerial walkways that disintegrate behind him.
    • Ruby: Generic Use: Geo has yet to learn how to use rubies for other then a basic material.
    • Diamond: Material Strength: Diamond’s strength and sharpness make it the main choice for Geo’s physical weapons and structures.
    • Rainbow Jewel: The jewels do contain an innate power that Geo might unlock over time or during great crisis.
• Nth Metal: Nth metal is transuranic iron with an atomic number of 676, and once refined has the ability to disrupt magic, therefore is able to effetely cut though Geo’s crystals and nullify their effects. It was famous for being what Hawkgirl’s Mace and most Thanagarian weapons are made from.
  • Valorium: Valorium also has a similar effect as Nth Metal, though it is not as effective.
  • Sonic Attacks: Due to the impurity of his crystals, attacks using sound with the right strength can shatter them.
  • Rainbow Jewel: The seven Rainbow Jewel has the power to also nullify Geo’s power if wielded by an individual who knows how to invoke its power.
  • Non-Metahuman Physiology: Geo’s body is still human and is not as resilient as most Metahumans. Strong blows, high falls or exposure to energy attacks will be lethal to him without protection.

x393wz.jpg
• Geo’s Suit:  Manufactured by the Justice League’s armoury service, Geo’s suit provides basic stab, fall, energy and ballistic protection due to his normal human body, along with limited climate control, while preserving the full use of his powers and movement. The gauntlets of the suit contain the various natural gemstones required for his powers in the knuckles, fingertips and palm.
  • Geo’s Visor: Geo’s iconic visor is made from hardened Sapphire Glass, making it almost indestructible.
  • Rainbow Jewel: Seven Rainbow Jewels are said to exist in the world: six triangular pieces and the Keystone. Geo stores the Keystone at Titan Tower, while one is at the Justice League HQ (recovered from the vaults of a deceased supervillain), and another in Aurora City’s museum. Four other jewels still are unaccounted for, but likely remain in their respective shrines in South America.

I think my main concern here is that your character can do so many things with the crystals. I mean he can shoot lasers, he can build constructs, he can heal(albeit limitedly), and he can shoot electricity. We got onto Hydreigon for having so many powers in his suit, so it's only fair to do the same here. I would definitely advise removing some of those abilities. Thing is, we are planning on having the characters 'level up', in a sense, so to already have a character jam packed with so many powers is a bit much at this point.

As far as personality and biography go, I like what you have! I especially like the format of the personality section. Very creative! Also the art is better than I remember! Very well done!

Hm care to explain this "level up" macanic?

Just like in the Teen Titans show, characters will "level up," in the sense that they will acquire new abilities as they perfect their control over their respective powers. A good example of this would be Starfire, who eventually developed the ability to shoot lasers out of her eyes (which she didn't initially have). Obviously it's a mechanic that we'll implement with great care, so don't expect to earn a bunch of powers right off the bat.

I would love to make a character for this. Interest is noted! However, it seems like quite a few others are interested as well. If only four people are going to be accepted, I'll probably pass due the the fear of rejection grabbing me by the throat. This one had me excited too! Curse you!

Fear of rejection is no reason not to apply. If you are excited about it, apply! The worst we can possibly say is 'not right now'. If all goes well, more character spots will open up in the future

Hm care to explain this "level up" macanic?

Basically that there is no reason to overload your characters with a bunch of abilities because you will have the chance for your character to eventually have those abilities when it best fits the narrative. It's not gonna be anything like: "if you post 10 times then you get to level up". It'll be a case by case basis

"Sure.  I'm open if you need me."

Name: Alfonso James Bronson | A.K.A. A.J.

Alias:  Comet

Age: 19

Gender: Male
wX7VDfY.png

Standing at five feet and eleven inches, A.J. is a slender young man, often dressed for a breezy winter.  Despite his rather rough but clean appearance, Alfonso is marked.  On the very nape of his neck, a symbol that does not originate from earth, is engraved into his skin until he dies.  If you look closely into his eyes, you can see something moving, swimming about inside of them.  The markings on the left sleeve of his jacket are exactly identical to the marking on his neck.  Alfonso did this to remind himself that even if you can't see it, that doesn't mean it isn't there.  His hands have also been tainted by the change in his body and are seared black.  However, the skin on his hands is still smooth, despite this rather startling appearance.  If you were to open his palms, they too are lined with the markings on his jacket and neck, and are the final location in which these markings can be located on his body.
inLPYtk.jpg

Per request, this is an accurate representation of Altiana.
Alfonso is a very calm, calculated individual.  He doesn't express himself very well, but he considers this a benefit that prevents him from giving away too much with his emotions.  Being in his position has humbled Alfonso, allowing him to find innocence in just about everyone and everything.  He is not one to act without reason or calculated risk.  If Alfonso wants to accomplish something, he will.  Though this may seem selfish, Alfonso is a big team player.  If he has the opportunity, he actually prefers to work with at least one other.  This suggests that Alfonso, though not alone, is a lonely person, possibly looking for a mate or just a perfect friend.

Alfonso is not the most outgoing person.  He is admittedly quite lazy, unless it comes to something he absolutely wants or has to do, which is where his determination stems from.  But while this is true, Alfonso has a very vulnerable soft spot for his friends.  Plead and beg with him enough, and eventually he will be up to help.  Alfonso will often not go out and celebrate or party.  Instead, he enjoys simpler things.  More often than not, if you don't know where Alfonso is, you can find him on an empty rooftop, staring deeply into the stars.  He's not much for philosophy, but often finds most of the advice and meanings that affect him, stem directly from the cosmos.
Alfonso James Bronson was born and raised in the outskirts of Sitka, Alaska.  He was raised around the backwoods and edges of the mountain, his mother and father only going into town so often to gather medicine, food, and supplies.  His father, Reginald Bronson, and his mother, Keiko Bronson, preferred to keep to themselves, thus their choice of living location.  Alfonso was raised to be a hard worker, but it was never in him.  Even when he and his father would go out into the woods for fire logs, Alfonso would take his sweet time.  "You'd better get over and help me if you wanna eat tonight," Reginald would often joke.  "Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad," Alfonso would groan.  Reginald would often be forced to stretch the time he was allotted because of his son, but he didn't seem to mind.  And as Alfonso matured and Reginald and Keiko grew older, Alfonso made small breaks in his terrible laziness, finally contributing more to the family household.

Around the age of eleven, Alfonso began to spend a lot of his time in the heart of the mountains.  Reginald  would take the boy into a deep mountain pass, where the lights from the city were most dim, and the stars seemed to open up and part the sky.  The way Alfonso's eyes met the "true creatures of the night" was stunning.  With a wide mouth and an innocent and excited gaze, Alfonso soon became obsessed with these stars.  He would beg his father to take him to the mountains, eventually making it a Friday night ritual.  Unfortunately, as luck would have it, Alfonso's obsession would also become the thing that changed him.

One Friday evening, watching the stars with his father, Alfonso and Reginald were lucky enough to witness a meteor shower.  It was beautiful.  The lights and bright streams of fire that streaked across the sky.  Alfonso was in awe, and Reginald couldn't help but join in his son's wonder and excitement.  But, some of the shooting stars seemed to be getting closer.  Dangerously close.  "Son, we should head back for the night.  It's getting late and--"

"But Dad!  It's just started!"

"I know bud, but--"  A thunderous crash shocked and shook the mountains, cutting off Reginald's remarks.  The mountains bellowed, as their caps began to fall to pieces.  "Run, Alfie!" urged Reginald.  "Daddy--!"  "Run, boy!" Reginald screamed.  He shoved Alfonso out of the way just as a large collapsing boulder separated him from his father.  Alfonso went face first into the snow, and turned around to see his father trapped between the boulder before him, and an avalanche behind him.  "Run, Alfonso."  Reginald smiled as hard as he could, shedding a tear in front of his son.  "Run.  And don't look back."

Alfonso was frozen in fear.  Even as he watched the mountains collapse around his father, he couldn't find the urge to move.  He was about to lose his father.  He was about to lose his special place.  He--wasn't going to accept this.  Not now.  Not ever.  This wasn't something he wanted.  And Alfonso wasn't about to allow a natural disaster to take away something special from him.  It was at this moment that Alfonso looked up to the collapsing mountains, and screamed.  He screamed, and he screamed, and the eleven year old screamed until he couldn't scream anymore.

"Alfie what are you doing!?  You have to go!  You have to--Alfie!?"  Something--rather, someone, heard Alfonso.  Another streak of fire came bursting from the sky, ripping through the air and striking the boy directly in the chest.  "Alfie!?  ALFIE!!" Reginald cried.  And that's when everything stopped.  The avalanche came to an abrupt halt, and the boulder that stood between Alfonso and Reginald began to dissipate.  And as Reginald now sprinted towards his son, he looked over him carefully.  "Alfie?  Alfie are you okay?  Say something son.  Anything, please!" he urged Alfonso.  And the boy stretched out pure black hands and placed them on his father's face.  His eyes glowed an eerie sky blue, as something else spoke out of Alfonso's body.

"Who. . . is Alfie?"

Reginald was taken aback.  "Who--what's going on?  Alfie?  Alfie what's wrong?

"Alfie?  No.  I am Altiana.  Spirit of the Stars," she said softly.  But Reginald was not happy.  He grabbed at Alfonso's collar and pulled him in.

"Who are you!?  What have you done to my son!?" he yelled.  The spirit looked at Alfonso's hands and analyzed them closely.

"So this is my host.  Al-fie," she said pronouncing it.

"Host?  What do you mean, 'host'!?  Where is my boy!?  WHERE IS ALFONSO!?" Reginald said shaking Alfonso's body with Altiana inside.  Gently shoving the man away, Reginald bounced backwards, rolling in the snow as Alfonso stood up straight.

"Your child remains unharmed.  I, Altiana, am not a dread spirit.  I am a spirit of peace.  I am a guardian of the cosmos.  I am Altiana the Prevalent."

But Reginald was not satisfied.  Shaking his head, he stood up straight, and pointed at Altiana.  "You think your title means anything to me?  You are in my son's body.  It does not belong to you.  I want--!"

"It's okay dad," Alfonso spoke up suddenly.  The boy's right eye turned from the eerie sky blue back to its original color.  "I. . .I don't feel any different."

"Alfie, are you okay?  Are you okay, Alfie?"

"I'm okay dad.  I'm just confused.  What's going on?"

Altiana, who had now possessed Alfonso's body, went on to explain her predicament, and how she was destined to be bound to a child of potential, and good heart.  It was foretold in her legends of the stars that if she were to leave this child, her spirit and its vessel would implode, devouring everything in its path as a black sun.  Departing from Alfonso's body was not only impossible, but improbable.  Only if she and Alfonso both wished it, would they separate.

"Then, you're stuck this way?  You're stuck, with this being?"

"I. . . guess so.  Maybe, we can be friends?" Alfonso asked his father hesitantly.

"Son, this seems dangerous, and--"

"I assure you, I mean you nor your child any harm.  I am here to assure his safety and the survival of this planet.  Nothing more."

Reginald thought hard, but in the end, he did not have a choice.  But from that day forward, Alfonso and Altiana would grow together.  She would teach Alfonso the ways of the stars, and Reginald and Keiko would grow to accept Altiana as family.  Over the next seven years, Alfonso would discover his true potential, even through his laziness.  Altiana became more aware of earth's customs, and they would find themselves as brother and sister.  Literally inseparable.  Though, they weren't exactly discreet in what they did in regards to what Alfonso was capable of.

After all. . . pulling down stars from space wasn't exactly quiet.  The Teen Titans quickly caught word of Alfonso, attempting to recruit him.

"Alfonso.  This would be opportune in order for me to continue my investment in saving earth's people."

"Mmmmm do I haaaaaaaaaave to?" he said lazily.

"Yes, Alfie."

"Since when do you call me Alfie!?"
One with the Stars - Alfonso, being enhanced by Altiana's spirit, passively floats and flies when he travels.  It's become so natural that when he walks, he often trips.

Mark of The Cosmos -   Alfonso takes his hands from his pockets, and opens his palms.  The marks on his palms will glow separate colors of red and blue on his right and left hands respectively.  Blasting a target with red cosmic energy will pull the target towards Alfonso, while blasting the target with blue cosmic energy will push the target away from Alfonso.  He can also use extensive repulsion energy to bend, break, and destroy objects by exerting extreme pressure on it.  This is also true for attraction energies.

Star Crash - Altiana creates a powerful star to be wielded by Alfonso. The star is bright, and upon first appearing will temporarily blind Alfonso's enemies for 2 seconds. This star can fire forth smaller stars around Alfonso, which deal moderate damage.

Extreme Low Level Telekinesis- He can't manipulate much bigger than a television remote or a cell phone.  This is purely to emphasize Alfonso's laziness.  Now he never has to get up to change the channel or order food!

Gabrial despised it, being more interested in learning about the world, often using what little breaks he had to read some scavenged books about Mesoamerica.

Using his knowledge from the books he had read, Gabriel was able to roughly translate part of the Mayan scripture on the walls. He learned that 500 years ago the last King of the Maya wielded a jewelled sceptre that granted their empire great wealth and power, but then the Spanish Conquistadores learned of it and invaded, tearing apart the empire and eventually slaying the king.

As Gabriel touched the Star Rainbow Gem, he was thrown back by a powerful, multi-coloured light, granting him his powers. The mine’s men had followed him and overtook, arriving to find his family threatened by the Boss, Gilimarto.

Over the last 3 years Gabriel travelled Central America, learning about his powers more and receiving an education from various tutor, along with crafting the indestructible diamond visor that disguised his identity as Geo. As Geo he occasionally dealt with Gilimarto and his men, who continued to chase him as he liberated and sabotaged their illegal operations as retribution for threatening his family. This eventually crossed his path with that of the Justice League, who were after Gilimarto for smuggling weapons into North America, crossing the path of a New Beetle.

    • Sapphire: Piezoelectric Effect: Sapphire can be used to convert physical blows into an electrical charge. The effect is amplified to a level where bolts of lightning can be discharged upon contact.
    • Emerald: Projectiles: Emerald is used by Geo as his preferred material for shard-shaped projectiles against opponents, along with his aerial walkways that disintegrate behind him.
    • Ruby: Light Focus: Ruby crystals are perfect for focusing beams of light into laser beams.
    • Diamond: Material Strength: Diamond’s strength and sharpness make it the main choice for Geo’s physical weapons and structures.
    • Rainbow Jewel: Hypercharge Form: Should Geo draw upon the full power of the Keystone Rainbow Jewel, his powers and stamina are greatly increased, along with gaining the power of Flight. Geo can also grow crystals much faster and without need of a progenitor. However this power only lasts for a few minutes at best, and will ultimately drain Geo’s strength until he subsumes to fatigue, from which takes days to recover from. It is unknow what would happen if he used the power from more the one jewel at the same time, or if the orb they came from was ever restored.

Void: You've get an excellent character concept going here. I think you did a solid job of conceptualizing Geo's appearance and powers in basis of a specific aesthetic. However, there are a few issues that I had with his backstory, just in terms of plausibility.. Foremost among these is the idea that a child/young teenager could teach himself how to decipher a specialized language like ancient Maya just by reading a bunch of "scavenged books." The issue here is not the character's intelligence, as you noted that he has a high IQ, but the odds of those books just floating around and happening to fall into his hands. If you could perhaps revise this in some way to make it more cohesive, it would be very much appreciated.

Celestial Chaos - Star Crash - Alfonso enhances his Marks, and extends them to space.  With a brief delay, Alfonso pulls a large meteor from space, and crashes it down in a target area.  The impact will leave a crater, and ignite the location in flames for a short time.  This tires Alfonso, and requires him to rest for a significant amount of time.

I like this character a lot, very nice job! My only concern is the Star Crash ability. The implications of such an ability are a bit troubling. How big of an area will this effect? Are we talking like destroying a building or decimating a city? Also, wouldn't Alfonso be at risk of being hurt by the meteor as well?

EDIT: Saiba and I have decided that the deadline for applications is being moved to the 13th, in hopes of starting by next weekend!

It's not an overly large meteor.  Capable of destroying an average city block at the most.  And no, Alfonso wouldn't be at too much risk.  He can launch the meteor from range.  At most two kilometers away from his present location.  I'll add this to the app.

EDIT:  Added very low level telepathy.  Literally nothing bigger than a book or a magazine.  He MIGHT be able to open an unlocked door if he tried hard enough but we all know Alfonso won't be willful enough to do that.

How large is the time delay between activating the power to draw in the meteor and the collision? During that time, does Alfonso  have  to maintain the constant stream of energy? What if he were to be interrupted? Sorry, I know these are a lot of questions. Just making sure I fully understand the character/powers.

Also, I think you mean telekinesis, my friend

Thanks I'll fix it.  I think its fair to say the delay would increase the further the target location is away from Alfonso.  At minimum sixty seconds, at most one hour.  The further away the target, the longer Alfonso should channel.  I think that would be best in order to keep the power in line.  You can interrupt the channel, but it can be resumed from previous cast time / cast point.

Noted. Yeah I think that pretty well balances the power. And obviously he wouldn't use this ability often. Alright, thanks for putting up with all my questions :P

An average city block is a pretty substantial area, hmmm...

I don't particularly care to redesign the ability, so I have another character design I can bring in.  I think I'll just do it now instead of discussing it any further, since I don't particularly care for Alfonso, and I've had so much trouble finding his identity.

"I'll assist you.  But you'd better not cross me."

Name:  Martin Alan Flandre
Alias:  Sting
Age: 21
Gender:  Male.
Z7Jw7ye.jpg

Martin is six feet, and two inches tall.  His matted orange and scruffy hair, the tattoos on his feet, and the sharp look in his eyes are the signs of a man who knows battle.  His pants are faded, but were once a much more bright red with black stripes.  The bands around his wrists and waist are also red, completing his ensemble.  The muscle shirt he wears is a simple, and plain white.  He may sometimes change this out for a gray or red muscle shirt of the same kind.  Strangely enough, Martin does not like to wear shoes.  If he absolutely must, Martin keeps a simple pair of open toed brown sandals.  Any other time, you will catch him barefoot.  The tattoos on both his left and right feet are that of Yellow Jackets, hence his alias.  They can be found on the very bottom, most near his heel on either foot.
Martin is a go-getter.  He gets frustrated with lazy people, often insisting that they try harder.  "You can't reach your goals from the bed,  Come on, let's go!"  Some might say Martin tries too hard.  He is relentless in his dedication to maintaining a healthy, fit body, while upholding his training in the many martial arts he has mastered.  He takes the meaning of 'dedication' to another level.  'Surrender' is not a term he relates to, and 'defeat' is never an option.  He is very active, and he loves the outdoors.  Camping, hiking, fishing, and sports are a great way to catch his attention.  He is also quite susceptible to a good meal, but will often regret it after wards.  "My body has succumb to high calorie intake and fat!  But it was worth it!  I will train like I've never trained before!"

Martin has a good heart.  He keeps the interest of others in mind whenever he is about to make a decision.  He does his best to be as selfless as possible, while assuring that he too is satisfied.  A quick solution may not be the best, and so he is prepared to take the time to solve a difficult problem if it means everyone is better off.  Martin has the spirit of a teacher, guiding his friends and associates as best he can.  He has a great passion for friendship, and values it highly.  He is as loyal as he is loud, and admittedly, Martin likes to hug people a bit too much.  Don't let him catch you in a sour mood.  He might just hold on to you until you cheer up.  He is resilient both physically and mentally, and isn't afraid of a challenge, even if he knows he can't win.  "You may defeat me now, but I will become stronger, and we shall face each other once more!"
Hailing from Salvador, Brazil, Martin made his way to the United States at the age of two, after spending the first early years of his life back home.  His mother, who passed away at his birth, was a kind woman whose spirit bares down on him all the time.  His father, Juneau, is very strict, but is as loving as he is harsh.  With passports and identification, green cards and required papers, they relocated to San Francisco, California, where Martin would soon undergo some very diverse and intensive training.  Juneau wanted much for Martin, but without a proper education, couldn't seem to reach out and grab the things he longed for.  Instead, he would teach Martin what he did know.  Martial arts.  For many years he had been a licensed instructor, but without his own dojo, he could only teach Martin so much from home.

At the age of three, Martin began training with his father day in, and day out, in a fighting style of Capoeira.   Juneau, who had long since acquired a black belt in this martial art, fought rigorously with Martin, who took to it quickly.  In fact, Martin enjoyed it so much, that he practically forced Juneau to take things further.  "I want a belt like yours, papa!" he squealed.  And that's when Juneau knew Martin had what it takes to push boundaries.  After only six months training, Juneau took Martin to a children's dojo, where he was able to bargain with the dojo master to accept Martin as a student.  "Very well.  But he will receive no special treatment."  Martin smiled at this.  It was exactly what he wanted.  And over the next four years, Martin fought relentlessly, tiring his body to the brink of exhaustion, and breaking more bones than one thought possible.  But at only the age of seven, he had earned a Black Belt in Capoeira.  And he wouldn't stop there.  Martin sought to learn other fighting styles, from all over the world.  But there was only one place for him to learn.  The World Martial Arts Academy.  There were teachers of every kind of martial art, with masteries and willingness to train students of all ages.

Without a second thought, Juneau packed up what he and Martin could carry, and they took a road trip to Missouri.  After settling down, Martin was quickly enrolled in the WMA Academy, where he would begin studying immediately.  He chose the courses that appealed to him most, and began his same break neck training once more.  And over the next twelve years, Martin would master three more martial arts styles, acquiring a black belt in Jujitsu, Aikido, and Taekwondo.  Juneau could not have been more proud.

Martin, who had pushed himself to the edge, and even beyond, had successfully mastered four fighting styles.  But he still wasn't happy.  He was grateful to his teachers, for their timeless effort and the values they instilled in him.  But it wasn't enough to fulfill Martin's thirst for strength.   Finally, he took it upon himself to take a journey where he could truly find what he was looking for in himself.  He approached Juneau on a warm September evening, and broke the news.  "Papa.  I wish to travel.  I wish to discover the world and find greater meaning for myself, and my life.  And I am asking for your blessing."  Juneau of course obliged.  There was no way he was going to let Martin be held back by his own wishes.  "Go on then. But you'd better bring me some souvenirs."  Martin smiled with great joy, hugging Juneau before running out of the door

Over the course of a year, Martin would travel the globe, unsure of what he was looking for.  Having little money, he would often have to spend extended stays working in new places in other countries to pay for his next trip.  Fortunately, he managed to acquire a horse for very little cost, saving him time, money, and trouble.  Near the end of his trip, Martin visited the southern regions of India, finding himself at Jaipur.  Being a tourist, he gave into a few local customs, stories, and legends.  That's when Martin learned of a sage who lived as a hermit in the outskirts of the lands.   "They say he can withdraw the latent potential out of any man, even those who are dying."

And that was all Martin needed to hear.  He paid this hermit sage a visit, wanting to know more of his own latent potential.  And he would learn quickly, as he entered the Hermit's Grotto.  Announcing his presence, Martin eagerly searched for the famed hermit.  "Hello?  Is anyone here?"

"Ahh, a visitor.  Please, come in," the hermit called, luring Martin further into his home.  As Martin rounded a corner, he bumped into a rather odd person, dressed head to toe in ceremonial garb, covered in blood and paint.  The hermit bowed, graciously, stopping Martin before he could speak a word.  "Are you--"

"Yes, I am the sage you seek."

"Then--"

"Yes, I know why you are here."

"Is it--"

"True?  Would you like to find out for yourself?"

Martin pondered for a moment.  He had come this far, There was no sense in backing down now.  "Yes.  Yes, I'll do it."

"You will be the first," the hermit said suddenly.

"I--wait, what?"  Too late.  The sage placed an index finger, thumb, and middle finger on the man's forehead, and knocked him out cold in an instant.  When Martin awoke, he felt very warm.  His heart was beating rapidly, and his head pounded and burned.  The sage was standing over him, a creepy smile across his face.  Martin shot up, staggering away from the sage and taking a defensive stance.  "What did you do to me?" he asked right away.  The sage took a seat, as he prepared to explain himself.

"The power dormant within you is not your own.  It is not to be used for your own selfish purposes or will.  Better, it be used for the strength of your friends, allies, and loved ones.  For when you fight in their stead, you are strongest, and none will best you."  Martin, unsure of how to respond, opened his palms and examined his hands, flipping them over and over.  "I don't understand.  What--"

"With determination, poise, will, insight, and strength.  You will soon discover that your potential in limitless.  But you must depart.  There are many who can use you, right now."

"No, wait, please.  You have to tell me more.  I don't--"

Martin was rushed to his feet, and ushered out by the hermit.  "In time, Martin.  In due time."

Martin would return to the United States shortly before his twenty-first birthday.  And it was shortly after this time, returning home, that Martin would discover what he was capable of.  After the long flight home, Martin left the airport late, weary, and tired.  He couldn't wait to get home and sleep.  But not before he was confronted in the back alleys of Missouri by a group of 3 thugs.  Nothing like picking on a stranger when they're most vulnerable.  Drawing their guns, they pointed them carefully at Martin, demanding his money and valuables.

But he refused.

"You wanna die, guy?  Just hand it ova', and we can all go home."

Martin dropped his bags, and put up his hands.  "I can't do that."

The thugs, entertained at the thought of a three on one beating, took this chance to humiliate Martin.  "Three against one?   You must really wanna die."

Martin waited for his enemies to approach, and struck when one of the thugs lunged at him, brandishing a dagger.  Flipping the thug's momentum against him, he broke the man's wrist, and tossed him against a wall.  But Martin, not prepared for the result, was shocked at what he saw.  As the man crashed against the brick alley wall, he kept going, right through it, tearing a large whole inside of it.

"What the--you're some kinda strong, guy!" another thug said, pulling his gun out again.  He fired at Martin, who instinctively ducked and rolled out of the way.  When he came out of his roll, he was at the thug's feet, and knocked away his weapon.  Martin continued his assault, striking the thug thrice more.  The third blow sent the thug into shock, despite it not being a powerful strike.  The thug collapsed, almost dazed at what had just happened.  Martin was also confused, not sure what caused the thug's demise.

The last standing thug brandished a pair of brass knuckles, looking to stop Martin right away.  But as the thug attacked, Martin stepped backwards, leaping out of the way.  Keeping on his toes, Martin launched a powerful roundhouse kick at the thug's chest, sending him flying, and taking one of his allies with him.

This startled Martin much more than the thugs he had just dealt with, causing him to flee the scene right away.  But his night wouldn't end there.  As he was returning home, a figure dropped down in front of him, holding up a hand.  Martin, exhausted, took one more stance.  But the person in question only offered him a chance to put his abilities to good use.  Apparently, they had been watching him from afar, and noticed how he tactfully took down the thugs that surrounded him.  Martin was then offered the opportunity to join the Teen Titans, where he would find his strength was more than welcome.
Definitive Determination - Martin's determination keeps him thriving in battle.  Martin's strikes against an opponent will increase his attack speed by ten percent, stacking up to three times.  Four successive strikes against the same target will stun the target for 1.75 seconds.  Definitive Determination cannot be applied to the same target more than once every six seconds.

Purposeful Poise-  Martin strikes with impressive force, creating a concentrated sonic wave in a narrow cone in front of him up to twenty yards away.  If the wave lands, Martin can blink to the target and apply one of the following effects:

If the target is an ally, Martin will empower them with his own strength, and increase the damage of his ally's next strike by fifteen percent.

If the target is an enemy, Martin will demoralize them, dealing light damage, and increasing the damage they take from his allies by eight percent for five seconds.

Unbreakable Will - Martin dashes to an ally within ten yards, shielding them by sheer force of his will, creating a barrier of energy around them for four seconds.  Martin can use this technique to absorb incoming projectiles and attacks against his ally.  Allies shielded by Unbreakable Will take ten percent reduced damage from all sources for ten seconds, even after the shield expires or is broken.

Infinite Insight - Martin sweeps the ground around him with a quick, low kick.  Enemies struck will lose their balance and be crippled for three seconds.  Crippled enemies have their movement speed reduced by five percent.  Allies who strike crippled targets will be buffered, regenerating mild wounds and gaining increased recovery from fatigue.

Dragonic Strength - Martin launches a powerful roundhouse kick, dealing moderate damage to his enemies and knocking them back up to a ten meters away.  The force of the kick is great, and other enemies who are behind the initial target will be knocked into the air for one second.  Martin can only use this ability on Crippled enemies.

Ok, that is understandable. I have remove the sapphire, ruby and rainbow jewel abilities from him. Sapphire and ruby will just act like generic materials now.

We actually can decipher much of the Mayan language today and there are rough guides out there to do so: imagine how much more would be documented in the period that this RP is set in?

Geo did not learn however the entire language by the time he discovered the shrine, though those books would have been extensively studied as his only source of reading material for most of his life: just enough to get a rough picture of the story, which would have been supported by pictograms. His comprehension of the language has grown over the last 3 years, when he got educated all over Central America. I admit having those books are convenient, but with magical superheroes maybe convenience is not it all seems to be?

However, if you think it would be better, those books could be retconned to be generic books about local legends: including the story of the rainbow gems, then Geo would learn Mayan on his travels.

It is only the meteor-summoning ability that needs tweaking, and even then, only in terms of power. Renegade and I were both very impressed by Alfonso. But if you're certain that you want to create a new character...? It seems you're throwing in the towel a bit early..

I'll leave it up to your discretion how you choose to restructure the biography to be more plausible, but yes, I think that would be better.

The changes have been made to my original application. Feel free to express any other concerns.

Thanks, that looks better already! Is there any particular reason you want there to be other rainbow jewels in existence?

I wont have it done for a while a guess... you can start whenever you please...

Does this mean that you won't be applying? You still have quite a few days left to get an application in.
