Aright, I'm actually interested in seeing this movie. Like, if Alpha is going to be what appears to be a deadpan snarker, I'm all for it.

Although I didn't expect Zordon having turned into the MCP.

I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO THOUGHT THIS!!! XD

I saw that and immediately screamed MCP! Though the snarkiness from Alpha was a new one for me XD

So the newest official trailer is in...and really, other than using a Kayne West song (however fitting it is), and the first scenes of Zordon with Alpha, it ain't bad.

Still salty about "Goldar", but that's a given XD Also, just a heads up...the Zack and Billy partake in a small race joke, which sorta made me chuckle.

Is that funking PATTON OSWALT'S VOICE AS ALPHA!?  That's a new hype for me.

Alright... after seeing this, I warmed up to Alpha's new design... kinda wish they wouldn't have given us both the full suits and the Zords/Megazord in the same trailer.

This so much.

I just had a brainstorm.... in the teaser trailer, Rita says she's killed Rangers before... what if we find out it's TOMMY she killed and that's how we get the Jason David Frank cameo? It'd explain how she got the green power coin too

OOH.  This is a great theory.  Nice catch dude.  That would make for some very interesting backstory.

It always kept escaping me... then I saw Rita in the trailer and I got to thinking "wait... didn't she say in the teaser that she's killed Rangers?" and I remember there being lots of rumors swirling about JDF making a cameo, and BlackNerd on YouTube brought up that the coin in Rita's staff is the green power coin and it clicked!

That ain't a bad thing...

But please keep in mind the original series at the same time. MMPR isn't just where the Rangers all started. I'm positive that Zordon said that there were Rangers before the current team to fight off against Rita. Also, another thing to keep in consideration is the 1st PR movie, with Ivan Ooze.

How was Ooze defeated? A team, like that present day Ranger squad, stopped him. And even Ooze says when they first meet: "So, Zordon's still using a bunch of kids to do his dirty work.". Then again, not sure how/if the MMPR movie and the series are canon with one another, but you get my point.

I'm not opposed to the idea, in fact I think it would be pretty interesting. But, I'm highly doubting it.

I went and seen it today here's my thoughts

[spoiler=My Thoughts SOME SPOILERS AHEAD]

I love the fact they started the movie off when Zordon was a Ranger with Rita

The camaraderie between Billy and Jason was something a little different but awesome

Jason slapping the bully was pretty funny, then the callback to it when they as the Megazord slapped Rita was HILARIOUS (my opinion)

Bryan Cranston was AWESOME as Zordon

RJ Cyler stole the show, he really made the role of Billy Cranston his own

It took me a bit to warm up to Elizabeth Banks as Rita

I didn't expect Billy to get killed but it was awesome to see Zordon use the Morphing Grid to bring him back to life then that cheesy but epic line "it's Morphin time" brought back so many memories

I like the chemistry between the whole cast

Goldar grew on me as the movie went on

Jason David Frank and Amy Jo Johnson made quick cameos at the end which was epic

That post mid-credit scene though!

It was a good movie. I also watched it yesterday and will honestly say....originally, I walked in there with having not a lot of high hopes for it. I suppose it was the nostalgia goggles or something XD

HOWEVER!! While they made it their own film, took liberties in certain aspects story wise and character wise...while it was still a different atmosphere in the movie, it played on nostalgia and had some levels of corniness that the original Power Rangers portrayed back in the day. What do I mean? I'm going to just say the end credit song for the moment...its a remix of the song "The Power". I immediately found this both funny and something that showed they KNEW where their roots were, because...in the original movie "Might Morphin' Power Rangers The Movie" (the one with the Ooze man), at the end before the credits roll, they also played "The Power" by SNAP! (the original artist). That was a huge nod and I loved the fact that they played on this nostalgia.

Elizabeth Banks as Rita...now this, oooohhhhh man! I believe she nailed this character. She knew exactly what she was doing...and she really got into character with it. Every time she was on the screen...she owned it. It's the same with Bryan Cranston with Zordon. Although they took a different turn with him, but, I loved it. MCP Zordon was something I had to get used to...but I ended up enjoying it.

As for the Ranger cast themselves, this was even better. Darce Montgomery as Jason, he played it off well. I also enjoyed that they took the main personality of Jason and incorporated it into this movie. And he even makes mention of it right now, while it took until the events of the Green Candle in the show to even address this. Naomi Scott as Kimberly, while she isn't Amy Jo Johnson, she did amazing as Kimberly. And to be honest, she isn't that bad of a looker either ;D. RJ Cyler as Billy, now I wasn't exactly expecting the performance I got from him. But he blew my expectations out of the water and I enjoyed watching him on the screen as well. Ludi Lin as Zack, while I was skeptical about him being confused for Adam (Johnny Yong Bosch), he actually did quite well in the roll of Zack.
