1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters

If this card destroys a monster by battle and sends it to the Graveyard: Gain LP equal to that monster's original ATK in the Graveyard. During either player's turn, when a Spell/Trap Card is activated that targets exactly 1 Psychic-Type monster (and no other cards): You can pay 1000 LP; negate the activation, and if you do, destroy it.

Probably my all-time favourite Synchro Monster, and still fairly good. The LP gain is very nice and the target negation is cool (shame it doesn't stop monster effects).

So I was wondering, compared to other Level 8 Synchros, how good is this card?

It's never going to be a bad card. The issue is Level 8 is an overall eh level nowadays, as 6/7 offer more value generically, even with restrictions like Debris/Noble Dragon have.

Blader has fallen, mostly.

Scrap Dragon's kinda bad now, because, unlike dire wolf, it takes a lot more to summon it for less value.

The Stardusts are good, but their ATK is low, which means you can't build for them.

The 2 newer RDAs are decent or better, but they're just an answer. Unlike R4, this is not as easy to access on demand. At least he has good evolutions.

Colossal is cute in formats where you'll consistently see 2800s/+100/+100/etc. it can ram into. It's definitely not bad, either.

TRA has a good effect with the anti-targetting, but the only decks you'll really encounter that in are BA and maybe Majespecter. Then it's a 2700 vanilla in most matchups.

Probably will never be a bad card, though.

I would say Scrap Dragon has a lot more value than Diamond Dire Wolf, destroying any card as opposed to a specific kind of monster, and having stats that aren't pathetic.

Sure, it's a bit harder to make, but since when have Level 8s really been hard to make?

uh now, a level 7's much easier to make and offers better value overall

3+4=7

4+4=8, yes, but the only good level 4 tuner is Luster Pendulum. No real way to make 8s.

Dire Wolf can be sheet out generically, and more and more decks have a means to use it multiple times. Not to mention Castel.

Scrap Dragon is big and technically valuable, but most decks that can Synchro Summon do not have spare monsters or S/T to spare.

Yeah, 6/7 has been getting a lot of good sheet lately.

It used to just be Brio/Goyo and Black Rose/DSF

but now you have Goyo/Wyvern/Psyhemuth/Nothung/Metaphys/Inzektron  and Black Rose/Moonlight/Clear Wing/DSF/Yazi

you missed meteorburst, and dsf is not good

Bit risky. MMS is a nice card and a great anti-Towers tech, but it's got the potential to clog like hell. Plus, TRAF protects himself only from targetting Spell/Traps, which means Castel is still gonna be a problem. When is that bird gonna go away?

Castel will never go away. While a poor choice of design, Castel is by no means broken, and the hard OPT really keeps him from becoming a monster. He's an accepted fact of the gamestate, and will probably never stop being such, as R4 is always going to be stupidly easy to make.

Why not just use that ED space on a Diamond Crab King so you don't need to maindeck an otherwise honestly weak card?

I'm with you on MMS, but comparing a Level 7 Synchro to a Rank 4 Xyz is kinda a no-no.
