curveballs finally stack with the rest of the bonuses, so a nice curveball is now worth 120. that might be my favorite part of this update. also, tested the catch rate on weedle and pidgey, and they are finally easy to catch again. so that's a nice benefit. pokemon below 100 are no longer breaking out of the balls, pokemon below 500 rarely break out of nice ball catches, and i haven't run into the 1000+ pokemon since the update, but it'd assume they wouldn't be as quick to run as they've been in the previous patch.

also, not sure if this is confirmed or not, but the encounter rate seems a bit higher for me after installing this update. has anybody else noticed this?

So now, in addition to the Appraise function, once your Pokemon gets knocked out of a Gym, it's returned to you fainted rather than at 1 HP. This reduces the need to carry more Potions as Revives now have another reason for use.

well that's good, and bad. i just finished throwing away all my revives, so this news is somewhat bitter for me. luckily, i haven't taken on any gyms recently, but i finally achieved my dream of a Perfect IV, 1000 CP beedrill.

Caught myself a Squirtle, Jigglypuff, and a Horsea on the way home.  In addition, hatched two Nidoran[F] eggs, so I got to immediately evolve one of them into a Nidorina.  A nice haul today.

i wanna live where you live.

I'm in Green Bay, Wisconsin atm.  And to think only a month and some change ago, a Snorlax literally spawned in front of my apartment.

That certainly sounds like Wisconsin yeah.

So how does everyone feel about the super huge influx of art and comics for the team leaders? I find it cool but it's also kind of odd given their lack of canon characterization.

The lack of characterization is what drives people to generate their own interpretation of how characters interact. And that's pretty cool.

I still play it, damn fun game to have on you while you're walking, and it even helps get me up and going at times. true, i don't play it to the same level i once did, but it's the type of game that you'll whip out any time you're in a place where you know there could be something rare.

Thought I'd bump this in case anyone didn't know about the Valentine's event. Buddies give candy after 1.5 km, catching pokémon nets you 6 candies for them, and pink pokémon appear more frequently. Now's a good time to get Porygon; I'd never seen it for the past half year but I've since caught 15 over the past couple days.

It has been confirmed that the rest of the Johto Pokémon are to come to Pokémon GO later this week. This update includes more Pokémon, evolutions, new methods of encounters, new berries and more customisation options for your Pokémon.
First, Pokémon may act differently when you're battling them
Next, with the new Berries, a Nanab Berry will slow a Pokémon's movement and a Pinap Berry will double the Candy you receive on capture.
Gender also makes its first appearance in Pokémon GO, with the Male or Female symbol appearing to the side of a Pokémon's name, as well as any gender difference if one exists.

Way too late Niantic, way too late.

It's still nice but, I really don't foresee another worldwide fever following this update.

maybe not worldwide, but it's enough to bump it up a bit. and if they can follow it up with some new mechanics, summer just might see a return of pokemon go popularity. maybe not to the same degree, but it's already made it's money, the rest, at this point is just icing on their already gold encrusted cake.

I remain hopelessly addicted.

[spoiler=Scoped my town out and I've caught]

Sentret-Furret

Hoothoot-Noctowl

Ledyba

Natu-Xatu

Marill
Hoppip
Aipom

Wooper-Quagsire

Murkrow

Sneasel

Swinub-Piloswine

I lucked out because one kind soul littered the area with lure modules. Once I capture good Eevees, I'll be able to get Espeon and Umbreon.

They have a naming trick like the other 3. Name it "Sakura" for Espeon and "Tamao" for Umbreon.

I currently stand at Level 28.

Bumping this in vain to see if anyone else still plays.

They rolled out Gen 3 last week and added weather. It boosts Pokémon's CP upon capturing and their attack power. Normally Ho-Oh is maxed at 2222, but I managed to catch one when it was windy and I got it at 2752. And it increases the type's spawn rate as well, Machops and Geodudes are more common in my area now when they were rarer before.

So I'd say this is the best update we've got in a while and it may be worth popping back in if you haven't in a while.

(also level 33 now)

[spoiler=Gen 3 caught so far]

Mudkip

Wurmple

Poochyena

Hariyama

Plusle

Gulpin-Swalot

Skitty

Caught Electrike like just now.

Halloween Event:

Sableye

Shuppet-Banette

Duskull-Dusclops
