---

Well, it's about the right time to get this one up and running...

Welcome to the 6th YCM Pokémon Tournament.

Like many in the past, this will be a grand-scale tournament to determine the best of the best.

Now trainers, are you ready to put your teams to the ultimate test?

ARCHIVE OF PAST TOURNAMENTS

GPT 1| GPT 2 | GPT 3 | GPT 4 | GPT 5

NOMINATION STATUS: OPEN

[spoiler=Rules]
1. You're allowed to nominate up to 16 Pokémon, however you are not required to use all of your nomination slots.
Because this will be a 256 participant tournament, it'll give you enough variety to vote on stuff.

If we have remaining slots open, the RNG will decide entries to fill things up.

2. All Pokémon that have been officially released are allowed for submission (legendaries, starters, Eeveelutions, event stuff, whatever).
This means that no Volcanion until events have it released.

3. Pokémon can only be nominated once. If someone else nominates a 'mon you want, then you'll have to nominate other stuff.
(There's 720 Pokes, so you shouldn't have problems finding others. Remember, you have 16 slots; fill them up as you see fit)

4. Each Pokemon in an evolutionary chain is considered as a separate species.
Specific instances of a Pokémon will be treated as the normal species.

5. You can change your nomination once, but you must announce the changes in another post.
I strongly suggest you think your nomination pool through the first time around.

6. Remain civil while voting in the threads.
This means no bashing members or coercing them to change their votes.

You can say things about the Pokémon themselves, but nothing related to any members who vote for them.

7. No using alternate accounts to vote for Pokes.
This also includes the use of monster accounts for Halloween.

I reserve the right to run an IP scan at any time to check for multiple accounts.

Keep in mind that I reserve the authority to discount any votes if this situation arises.
Seriously though, just play fair.

We all want our nominations to win, but you can't always get what you want.

8. Normal YCM rules apply.
You all should know this by now, but I need to mention it again.

9. Have fun.

[spoiler=Match Format]
This will be a 256 Pokémon tournament, much like GPT 5 was.

First two rounds will be 4P battles, and the rest will be regular 1v1 battles.
See below for the number of fights + expected winners.

  • Round 1 (Preliminaries): 256 participants -> 64 matches [64]
  • Round 2: 128 participants -> 64 matches [64]
  • Round 3: 64 participants -> 32 matches [32]
  • Round 4: 32 participants -> 16 matches [16]
  • Round 5: 16 participants -> 8 matches [8]
  • Round 6 (Quarterfinals): 8 participants -> 4 matches [4]
  • Round 7 (Semifinals): 4 participants -> 2 matches [2]
  • Round 8 (Finals): 2 participants -> 1 match [1]

(Hypothetical matches will appear by member request, but know that results in those will not carry over to the main series)

All matches will be determined by RANDOM.org (as is standard).

Matches will be open for 2 days before being auto-locked.
All matches will end at 11:00 pm Hawaiʻi Standard Time (GMT -10:00), so consistency is retained.

There will be a poll that you can cast your votes in; final scores will be determined from the poll results.
However, you are encouraged to write your vote in a reply as well; if you choose.

(Please make sure you write a complete sentence if you opt to post in the thread.)

All matches will have public voting enabled; this helps with seeing if we indeed get multi-accounts voting for a particular entry.

----
If we end up getting tied matches, then all Pokémon in question will move on.
I will not be flipping coins to determine a tiebreaker (I will be voting in these initially).

Do not worry if your vote will trigger a tied match; vote the way you wish.
You can refer to GPT 2 for the explanation of tied matches.

Yeah, you get first pick on your noms at this point.

I had intended to do this yesterday, but things got in the way.

Gastrodon

Well, I did say that you weren't required to fill up your max total, so just Gastrodon is fine.

You can add more at a later time if you wish.

I had originally planned for this to be posted September 15th, but yeah schoolwork and the like pushed it to now.

Because I suspect this is going to take at least a month or two, just need to make sure there's enough time to run things into more manageable territory before the Halloween event (and things get more crazy).

Although, we should be fine.

By then, we should be at Rounds 3/4.

You mean with the X themed logo? (I did say the logos are on a rotator, so there's the Yveltal one)

Idea this time was Mega Evolutions and stuff like that (otherwise, the default would be the Latias/Milotic thing relegated to me/Zextra).

I can try to redo the X one (and find a new Mega Lucario pic), but not sure if I will have time for it.

Then again, that was the only one I had that would work in here without obscuring Xerneas much. (At the time I designed it, net issues prevented me from getting other stuff)

I did mention to you in status that this would come up in a few weeks after Yui's one ended.

However, I do want to get this underway before next month (likely will be the busy season + especially since we have the Halloween thing coming up).

Anyway, I'll go add the new nominations to the list.

Also going to double check if any duplicates showed up.

I probably should've done it earlier (though I anticipated more people would nominate stuff), but to fill up the remaining half, I'll allow you to nominate up to 8 nominations (which is 24 Pokes you can nominate in all); still 595 left out of the available box of Pokes, so there's a lot of things.

Plus, there are a few Pokes that haven't been nominated, but people like.

Again though, you don't have to use all of the slots.

(Some of you didn't use up the original limit, so go nuts)

Don't want the randomizer getting half of the pool to itself (I did say that I'd like to keep its nominations minimal, but if we need to use it for filler, then fine).

Ideally, get around 170-200 or something from all of us, and I'll let the RNG goddess do her work afterwards. (I don't have Youtube lists, so using the generator for rest of stuff)

Otherwise, I'm perfectly fine with reverting back to the 128 format, and telling RNG to give me its three nominations to fill up things + we get started.

EDIT: I should've taken into account that it is nearing the time for midterms and all that, so I'll just revert this back to the 128 format.

It'll be a lot easier to handle in the long run.

In the case of RNG picks, there are what it has picked.

[spoiler=Noms]

Weavile

Heliolisk

Rapidash

I will randomize the pool + post the matches up tomorrow during my break.

Will be 8 matches at a time @ 2 days each.
