Neutralizing Helmet (Generic Equip Card)

Turns out there really isn't much Equip cards that would be decent to include in any deck except archetypal ones. I used to thought that the reason was simply because of the Equip spells nature (only hidden armory searches, dead draw if you control no monsters, if your monster dies it dies too so not very efficient). But then I realized its more because Konami didn't even tried.

Moon Mirror Shield is a really good and fair card overall, although I have never seen it used, it can probably help a decent amount of decks (of course you have to draw it, but its probably worth at least 1 slot in some decks). And after checking the card, the idea of generic Equip Spells sounded appealing to me, so I decided to check the available Equip cards (I may find something interesting, right?)... nothing, literally nothing decent enough to expect to work by splashing in a deck. The only remotely decent cards are all archetypal (Noble Knights, Vylon). All cards either give a negligible ATK boost or something practically useless (Ribbon of rebirth had such a cute potential, just let it revive on effects), Mage Power was probably good some time for giving a potential retarded amount of ATK, Megamorph doubled ATK so probably as well, and autonomous revives from the opp's Graveyard so it would be usable I guess (I'm just thinking when I used the card a lot when playing on the DS, not like its good). Those are the cards I would judge to be the closest as possible for being usable generic Equips, besides Moon Mirror (but they aren't).

Anyway... I made one generic Equip Card that sounded useful enough to be viable in some decks (its niche, I know, but its probably worth using if you so desire to).

Spell/Equip

The monster equipped with this card is unaffected by monster effects whose ATK is higher than the equipped monster's ATK. If the monster equipped with this card would be destroyed by battle or card effect, you can destroy this card instead.

Yes, it only makes the monster unaffected by others with higher ATK, weird I know. The basic idea is to make it usable in a deck that you know you will be facing monsters with higher ATK than yours, mainly decks like watts or something (I'do like to say Ghostricks, but they flip a lot so equips don't work very well, maybe in a variation). By using this card, you make sure to give your cute small monsters some protection while they do whatever they want to do (most times the effects are more threatening rather than the ATK of the other monsters anyway).

Do I think Equip Cards should have protection effects to be viable ("Destroy this instead"; so its not losing 2 for 1)?

Not really. There can be a lot of instances where the equips are fine by themselves and a protection may be over the top for it. I just included it for the obvious "contradiction" of only being unaffected by monsters with higher ATK (it used to protect against battle only, but that felt a bit underwhelming).

Note: Just because equips aren't very used doesn't mean they are bad by themselves, you just need to make them actually good (I hope Konami has learned this), without going overboard, of course. (I do say its a similar case with Polymerization, where the card was considered an irremediable case, but with just a few support and playing around it can suddenly be good. Gotta love fluffals).

As Draconus says, this card works very well in tandem with my demon friend. Activate some forceful traps, let's say, Final Attack Orders, and your opponent is as helpless as a baby again Yubel. Savage Colosseum also does the job spectacularly.

I wouls say Deskbots, but fortunately this card deals with current ATK, not original ATK.

This card helps a Normal Summoned Fog King.
