Anyone here hate pendulums? Do you want Konami to incorporate more mechanics into the game to counter it? Well, how would you approach it? This is the challenge today: make a card that uniquely combats Pendulum mechanics! More details will be available in the spoiler sections:

[spoiler=Requirements/Rules]
- No Entry Cost! All entrants simply have to post in this forum and request admittance (or post an image/card text).
- Your entry must be a Spell, Trap, or Monster card that is designed to counter Pendulums in a SPECIFIC WAY (floodgates are allowed, but cannot shut down every mechanic in Pendulums. Ex: "Your opponent cannot Pendulum Summon, activate Pendulum scales, or use Pendulum monster's effects while this card is face-up on the field"). The idea is to provide more options to combat them, not disable them outright, that just punishes other people for playing the game. Cards can be archetype specific, but must be splashable into other decks if its a custom archetype. You cannot use custom Types or Attributes, or stats above 5000atk & def. Any further rules follow the standard YCM card tournament rules found here.
- Card entries must be placed in this forum post. I will not accept PM's for entry, as all players should be able to see the cards before reviewing. Also, if you decide to create an image for your card entry, you must use spoilers to hide the image and include the Lore of the card typed below the image.
- Edits will be allowed, however, you must edit your original post! Do not create new posts when making edits. Any edits performed past the deadline posted below will not be included in judging. (As a side note, it's recommended to make notes on your original post whenever you make an edit and why you made said edits).
- March 1st, 2016 @ 12AM Pacific Standard Time is the deadline (Basically, try shooting for the day before, if possible). Entries beyond that will not be accepted.

[spoiler=Prizes]Because this is a 1st tournament for myself, I'll be keeping the pool relatively small. Subject to change in the 1st week.
1st: 250 points
2nd: 175 points
3rd: 100 points

[spoiler=Judging]- If you would like to participate as a judge, you must PM me. You must have completed, or complete, one of the following in order to judge:
*Been certified as a judge previously.
*Have participated heavily in the forums or card competitions prior
*Have cards designed that demonstrate your skill level/knowledge of the game (recommended to be made recently, to relate more closely to the current TCG format, in terms of design, OCG and balance)

- In all of these cases, it is recommended to send a minimum of two cards you designed along with your PM. You cannot use your card in this tournament as one of those two cards. If 3 or more judges enter, I will allow the judges to compete, but a judge cannot place a rating on a card they made. After you send a PM, I will reply back letting you know if you've been approved or not.
- March 8th, 2016 @ 12AM Pacific Standard Time is the exact time all judges should provide their rubrics (either by posting on this forum post, or by personally PMing me, and I will post the results). Anything beyond that will not be used. This may change depending on number of entrants. You can check the "Rubric" spoiler tab to see which format is expected.

[spoiler=Rubric]100 Points maximum is possible for any single card. Broken down:
60 Points (Balance/Utility/Mechanic): Does the card fulfill the basic requirements of the tournament? Is it's effect fair relative to its archetype (if used), splashability, atk, def, type, attribute, and spamability? Does the function of the card stand out, while also being balanced in the current TCG format? Does its function warrant its cost? etc.
30 Points (Creativity/Flavor): Does the card's effect fit stylistically with its stats? (If applicable) Does its design feel fresh and unique? If so, how?
10 Points (OCG): Does it follow current OCG standards? Is its effect clear and easy to understand? Is the grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure correct?

[spoiler=Current Entrants/Judges]Judges:

Entrants (Name bold when card is posted):

- egotisticalghost
- Chivalry
- Protodax
- cr47t
- JuanoGS11
- Egmoedeus XVII
- Yuuji Kazami
- Talim Rave
- Royal Paladin

I'm looking forward to all the creativity expressed in this next tournament, and would like to see you all do your best! If you have further questions, PM me.

[spoiler=submission]Scales of Corruption

Trap

Activate when your opponent controls 2 cards in their pendulum zones. Destroy them, then place 1 "Brute Token"(Fiend/DARK/Level 1/Scale 1/ATK: 0 DEF: 0) and 1 "Savage Token"(Fiend/DARK/Level 1/Scale 6/ATK:0 DEF: 0) in your opponent's pendulum zones. Both tokens gain the following pendulum effect:

"If you pendulum summon monsters, you lose 500 LP. Any monster pendulum summoned has its effects negated this turn."

With the way the first effect is worded, I intended to essentially be "Lose 1000 LP to pendulum summon."

If your opponent controls 2 cards in their pendulum zones, you can banish one card in your opponent's pendulum zone. During your third standby phase after this card's activation, if your opponent has one card in their pendulum zone, then the card banished by this card's effect returns to the pendulum zone (if your opponent has two cards in their pendulum zones, the banished card doesn't return). During your turn, except the turn this card was sent to the graveyard: Special-summon one card from your opponent's pendulum zone to your side of the field.

Had some help with this. Hope it holds up!

Since the cards in the Pend zone will go to extra rather than the grave, you wont be able to place the tokens, unless im missing something

[spoiler=Submission and Lore]

Basically a solemn card for the pendulum mechanic

g9scCYO.jpg

When a monster(s) would be Pendulum Summoned, OR when a card or effect is activated in the Pendulum Zone: Pay 1000 LP; negate the Summon or activation, and if you do, destroy that card. You can only activate 1 "Unbalanced Scales" per turn.

Unwavering Bonds Partner in crime, Bonds was made to counter pendulum cards, it doesnt matter if they are in Pend Zone or monsters, This card was made to counter the pendulum mechanic, so thats why pend monsters effects are off this card's scope, they are still just monster effects.
