[Repost] Core Golems - Xyz Rocks - DEF Archetype

Heyo.

This is the Official Final Version of the first archetype I have made here (posted a few months ago). Although I initially thought I was satisfied with its state, I ended up always coming back to it and change a couple things. And after a incredible amount of adjustments, testing and brainstorming, I think I finally found the sweet spot in which I'm satisfied with the Deck.

It took me a couple months, but I believe I learned a lot about cardmaking and design principles to get it to how its now (testing on Duel Portal helped me a lot with that). Next time probably won't take as long.

And now explaining the basic design of the Deck:
- The Lv3 Main Deck monsters give a DEF boost when attached to the archetype's Xyz Monsters, but detaching them will reduce your monster's DEF.

- The Xyz ones benefit a lot from having an high DEF, but have low natural stats so they need to have attachments to work efficiently. Also have effects that either requires you to reduce their DEF (permanently or temporally) or detach Xyz Materials, so attachment management is quite important within the Deck.

Even if the world forsakes you, always keep a steadfast resolve.

Level 3 - EARTH - Rock/Effect - 1600/1600
When this card is Normal Summoned: You can send 1 "Core Golem" monster from your Deck to the Graveyard. You can banish this card from your graveyard; attach 1 "Core Golem" monster from your Graveyard to a "Core Golem" Xyz Monster you control as Xyz Material. You can only use this effect of “Core Golem - Bold Iron” once per turn. When this card is attached to, or when this card on the field is used as Xyz Material for the Xyz Summon of a “Core Golem” Xyz Monster, that monster gains 100 DEF, and 100 DEF for each "Core Golem" monster in your Graveyard, but loses 500 DEF when this card is detached from it.

Level 3 - EARTH - Rock/Effect - 1200/1200
When this card is sent to the Graveyard: Add 1 "Core Golem" monster from your Deck to your hand, except "Core Golem - Conducive Copper". If this card is in your Graveyard, you can target 1 "Core Golem" Xyz Monster you control; banish 1 other "Core Golem" monster from your Graveyard, then attach this card to that target as Xyz Material. You can only use 1 "Core Golem - Conducive Copper" effect per turn, and only once that turn. When this card is attached to, or when this card on the field is used as Xyz Material for the Xyz Summon of a “Core Golem” Xyz Monster, that monster gains 100 DEF, and 200 DEF for each "Core Golem" attached to it as Xyz Material, but loses 500 DEF when this card is detached from it.

You can banish this card from your Graveyard; send 1 "Core Golem" monster from your Deck to the Graveyard. You can only use each effect of "Core Golem - Lonesome Granite" once per turn. When this card is attached to, or when this card on the field is used as Xyz Material for the Xyz Summon of a “Core Golem” Xyz Monster, that monster gains 100 DEF, and 200 DEF for each monster your opponent controls, but loses 500 DEF when this card is detached from it.

Level 3 - EARTH - Rock/Effect - 1200/1400
If you control exactly 1 "Core Golem" monster, you can Special Summon this card from your hand. While this card is in your Graveyard, if you control 2 or more “Core Golem” monsters: You can Special Summon this card, but banish it when it leaves the field or if it would be sent to the Graveyard as an Xyz Material. You cannot Special Summon monsters during the turn you activate any of this card's effects, except "Core Golem" monsters. You can only use 1 "Core Golem - Prideful Gold" effect per turn, and only once that turn. When this card is attached to, or when this card on the field is used as Xyz Material for the Xyz Summon of a “Core Golem” Xyz Monster, that monster gains 100 DEF, and 100 DEF for each card your opponent controls, but loses 500 DEF when this card is detached from it.

Level 3 - EARTH - Rock/Effect - 1600/1600
Once per turn, during either player's turn, you can target 1 monster your opponent controls and 1 "Core Golem" monster you control; change the first target's battle position, also it loses 500 DEF, then the second target loses 1000 DEF. You cannot target a "Core Golem" monster with less than 1000 DEF for this effect. You can banish this card from your Graveyard; add 1 "Core Golem" monster from your Graveyard to your hand. You can only use this effect of "Resentful Cobalt" once per turn. When this card is attached to, or when this card on the field is used as Xyz Material for the Xyz Summon of a “Core Golem” Xyz Monster, that monster gains 100 DEF, and 200 DEF for each Spell/Trap Card your opponent controls, but loses 500 DEF when this card is detached from it.

Rank 3 - EARTH - Rock/Xyz/Effect - 1000/2200
2 or more Level 3 Rock-Type monsters
All face-up Special Summoned monsters your opponent controls are changed to Attack Position, cannot change their battle positions and must attack this card, if able. While this card has 3 or more Xyz Materials, if your opponent activates a card or effect that targets a "Core Golem" monster you control: You can negate that activation, and if you do, this card loses 700 DEF. You cannot activate this effect if this card has less than 700 DEF. At the end of the Damage Step, if this Defense Position card was attacked by an opponent's monster whose ATK is lower than this card’s current DEF: You can detach 1 Xyz material from this card; destroy the attacking monster, and if you do, inflict damage to your opponent equal to that monster’s original ATK. When this card is attached to a “Core Golem” Xyz Monster, that monster gains this effect, until this card is detached from it:
- This card gains 500 DEF. Monsters your opponent controls must attack this Defense Position card, if able. If this Defense Position card is attacked by an opponent's monster whose ATK is lower than this card's current DEF: Destroy the attacking monster after damage calculation.

Rank 3 - EARTH - Rock/Xyz/Effect - 1250/2000
2 or more Level 3 Rock-Type monsters
If this attacks while it has 3 or more Xyz Materials, your opponent cannot activate card or effects until the end of the Damage Step. Trap/Normal
Tribute 1 "CoreGolem" Xyz Monster you control, then target 2 non-Xyz "CoreGolem" monsters in your Graveyard; Special Summon those targets, then immediately after this effect resolves, Xyz Summon 1 "CoreGolem" monster, using monsters you control as Xyz Materials. During either player's turn: You can banish this card from your Graveyard, then target 1 "Core Golem" Xyz Monster you control; attach 1 "Core Golem" monster from your Graveyard to it as Xyz Material. You can only use this effect of "Golems Perfect Reconstruction" once per turn.

7ZvCige.jpg
Trap/Normal
Send 1 "Core Golem" monster from your Deck to the Graveyard, then apply this effect, depending on whose turn it is:
- Your turn: Change the battle position of all monsters your opponent controls, then they lose 1000 DEF. This turn, if a monster you control attacks a Defense Position monster, inflict piercing damage to your opponent.
- Your opponent's turn: Change the battle position of all monsters you control, then they gain 1000 DEF. This turn, all monsters your opponent controls must attack, if able. Until the End Phase, "Core Golem" monsters you control cannot be destroyed by battle or card effects, and if an opponent's monster attacks a Defense Position monster you control, double any battle damage your opponent takes from that battle.

[spoiler=Comments]

Notes:

- The DEF boost given by the Main Deck CGolems is not treated as the Xyz monster's effect (thus if the Xyz monster has its effect denied the boost won't go away). And its applied when the card is used as an Xyz Material or in the moment its attached from wherever to it.

- All Core Golems are balanced in a way that the average DEF given by all of them is 500, thus all of them take away 500 DEF when detached. Also after testing I felt the need for a fixed amount (the +100), otherwise it would be harder to balance (since the range of DEF given would be a bit too wide), surprisingly, it helped wonders.

- Bold Iron not only acts as the most reliable way to Xyz Summon going +0 (sending Copper to Add Gold), it also is a very convenient card to have on the Graveyard since it does a simple free attachment from there (the most reliable way to attach any CGolem you want from Grave). You will be happy by having this one in your starting hand.

- Conducive Copper is the deck's main searcher. With quite a few means to send it to the Graveyard, most likely than not you will benefit from its effects at least once a turn. And even if all 3 are in the grave already (or you have no other means to grab it from there), it can attach itself to an Xyz monster from the Grave by itself, not only giving a decent DEF boost, but making sure you can search once when detached from it (reminder that you can't do both on the same turn).

- Lonesome granite is also a quite reliable card. It has a quite easy summoning conditions from hand and gives a reasonable DEF boost, but its Grave effect its what makes it a really convenient card. Even if you go -1 to Xyz with it, you can just send Copper or Cobalt to turn it into a +0, so its hardly an undesirable draw.

- Loyal Silver is as reliable as the name implies. It may not allow you to Xyz in a single turn, but you really want to have at least 1 in Grave most of the time. A monster with an opt battle resistance that can SS itself from grave has its uses. Specially if you just need some protection or has no means to Xyz with the cards in your hand. Also convenient in the starting hand (probably wont die in that turn, allowing you to Xyz with it in the next, otherwise to at least make sure you wont receive much damage).

- Prideful Gold is the deck's main Xyz enabler. Its the card you probably want to grab by using Copper and Cobalt. Can SS itself from hand pretty easily and just by having 1 in Grave you can turn any 2 material Xyz into a 3 material one (or set the field for multiple Xyz).

- Resentful Cobalt acts both to give some pressure to the Deck and as a secondary searcher. Its first effect can both be used to assure you to destroy certain monsters, or in the opponent's turn as to give some disruption.

- Almighty Guardian could be said to be the deck's signature monster (or boss monster per say). It really personifies the old school dream of the classics Spike Wall Rock-Type monsters. Not only it attracts all SS'd monsters to attack it, it can protect all Core Golems you control from targeted card effects, really acting as a Guardian. And if its attacked by a weaker monster, you can just detach 1 to destroy it and give a really neat amount of damage. It wouldn't be unthinkable to OTK in the opponent's turn using its effect (specially combined with Resilient March). Its effect while attached would be the most desirable for Forsaken Soul, who is the most able to benefit from it, but otherwise its mostly if your lack options to deal with certain threats.

- Determined Lord acts as the deck's removal. Although it can't destroy anything with higher ATK than its DEF, you should easily be able to give it 3k+ DEF, so its not that much of an issue. You can choose to either mass remove all monsters with atk below its DEF or to keep its materials to allow it to dodge 1 attack (or both effects if you attach 1 more material to it). Its effect while attached is really useful for any of them, adding a removal option to deal with things.

- Forsaken Soul is the one you go when trying to play safe (or just "testing the waters"). You will most likely summon it when going first. Opt resistance combined with an effect of atk reduction makes it so you most likely than not will be able to dry out a couple monsters your opponent controls. It really is a card made to "annoy" the opponent. Also extremely useful against high ATK monsters with protection (as its "dry out" effect neither targets or destroys). Probably the most convenient of the attached effects, which is also another reason to use it first.

- Unwavering Warrior is the deck's main beef. You will want to summon it in most of you games, even if just as a finisher, since its the only Xyz Golem with more than 1500 ATK (without any DEF boost, it has 2250 ATK, and gains 250 more ATK per 500 DEF). You should easily get it into 2500 or 2750 ATK (with 2500 or 3000 DEF respectively), which is pretty decent for a R3. And if it destroys a monster, it can attack once again by detaching 1, while being able to destroy 1 S/T in the process (really nice against those pesky Pendulum Decks). Its attach effect is pretty decent to give a certain damage threat for the other Golems, but except if you combo it with Forsaken or the Lord's one, its mostly for direct damage boost.

- Natural Link is never a bad draw. A really convenient way to boost your Xyz and if you have too, you can use its 2nd eff to keep yourself on the game.

- Resilient March is quite decent in most situations. The 1st effect is at its best used in conjunction with Unwavering Warrior (since it benefits the most from the piercing), while its 2nd eff with Almighty Guardian or Forsaken Soul, which can let you deal a considerable amount of damage to your opponent. Also useful for protection.

- Perfect Reconstruction is probably one of the coolest cards of the Deck, which also allows really interesting plays. Use it to turn a Lord which already dried itself to summon a Warrior, use it in Forsaken after drying its own DEF, or use it in your opponent's turn for a surprise Guardian. Also obviously really useful for protecting your monsters from targeting effects. Can really change the direction of a duel. Reminder that it can also attach CGolems from grave in either player's turn, so its the only card that let's you surprise attach a Forsaken or a Lord to a monster you control (protecting it or making sure it kills something).

And that's it.
Finally I feel like I can move to another project (on that note, I'm quite dissatisfied with my other submitted archetype, but I'd rather do something else from scratch right now).
Hope you guys like it as much as I do.
