I'm gonna call my UB-02 Minerva Mink. If any of you saw Animaniacs back in the day, you'd know why.

Anyway, gonna wait until the Day after tomorrow to head to the next island, after I catch Klink. Then after that Island I'll head back to Melemele to get Totodile and Horsea.

Edit: I just saw in a video there was an easier way to get Totodile, and a shortcut to Seaward cave. My trip to the next island will have to wait until Monday.

Forgot to post my team:

Harry the Decidueye

Bellatrix the Salazzle

Neville the Golisopod

Lupin the Lycanroc

Hagrid the Crabominable

Molly the Mudsdale

(I'll use Ron the Incineroar and Hermione the Primarina in Moon.)

I didn't expect to keep Lycanroc since half my team was weak to water but he grew on me. Golisopod and Decidueye are also really cool pokémon and new favorites of mine.

Because the Pokemon League sits where the the Ice Trial might've been, since the Icinium's Pedestal sits along the way to it.

Yea, but we still have trainers for Poison, Bug, Dragon, Steel, Psychic, and Flying. Sina is the closest we have I think.

If I have one complaint, it's that they took away Super Training. I am nowhere motivated enough to try and EV train the old-fashioned way, got no time for that sheet.

I'd at least like to EV train my Decidueye, but I'm not sure what's the best way to reset its EVs. Is there some sort of Festival Plaza meal that resets all of them, or am I gonna have to go one stat at a time?

A lot of Super Trainings function is found in the Plaza. It isn't as convenient, but it is there.

Well with trying to sort out half of my competitive team I managed to over a couple of hours a fishing get a total of 10 Bottle Caps in the Poni Island Fishing point putting me up to 12 (first two from lottry and Fairy Trail Captain) where I will just need to Level up Tapu Lele and Rockruff to Level 100 (and Evolve Rockruff into Lycanroc Day Form) and fix Greninja's EV by removing the ATK EV's it comes with when you get it.

Surprises me though that when you get the Battle Bond Greninja it already comes with Max EV Speed and then some EV's in both ATK and SATK.

I beat the game about a week ago, but my Hall of Fame Team was:

HellHeel the Incineroar

Brunch the Mudsdale

Pins the Magnezone

♂*1 the Crabominable

Chuuute! the Aloraichu

...

and Ratstache the Aloraticate

The only reason I had Raticate was really because I never got rid of it, and Alolan Pokemon are so damn hard to find in the wild if their name isn't Yungoos.

I beat the game last week (well, became champion); title defending battles have "better" versions of my original stuff, but some stuff has been modified. (To be fair, I've only had Hau and Plumeria challenge me)

[spoiler=Team-wise (from recent one with Plumeria)]

  • Espeon ([real name][v2]) - level 71*
  • Jolteon (Raikiri) - level 71**
  • Lucario (Hideyoshi) - level 68
  • Lycanroc [Midday] (Cinnamon)*** - level 74
  • Kartana (Kusabasami) - level 72 (I think)
  • Xurkitree (Denkosenju) - level 68

Hau's one; replace the UBs with Solgaleo and Tapu Koko.

* Original Espeon had 0 IVs in speed; new one has a much better speed and better Sp.Atk.

** Different Jolteon than what I used against Kukui (about the same stats as original)

*** Different Lycanroc (one that I caught in Vast Poni Canyon; has a Jolly nature and IV trained properly; also better stats)

Admittedly, I didn't have to use all of the members on team. Think I only had to use Espeon, Lucario and Lycanroc this time. The E4 themselves were harder.

Espeon/Jolteon have Timid natures, Lycanroc/Lucario/Kartana are Jolly, Xurkitree is Modest natured. (Yeah, partly Smogon for the UBs, and the rest is standard)

Guzma may have failed to become a Trial Captain but his setup was more like a traditional Gym than anything. You had to go through abunch of trainers, and there was a minor puzzle you had to go through, you get the Buginium Z after beating him.

I didn't even think about that. Yea, you're right. Honestly, I think that is the thing I miss most about not having Gyms, the puzzles and just the design of the gyms themselves. I think the closest we came to this was the Ghost trial since that atmosphere in the haunted market was A++

Also I think Guzma's, "Y'all are stupid!" line might be my favorite in the game. It was so abrupt and was pretty funny, especially with his facial expression.

I've said it at least once, but the writing in the game is across the board really good and pretty funny. While I still reserve judgment for how the competitive stuff was handled, the game itself is just super polished.

You know, I'm not sure what my expectations were going into this game, but whatever they were, they were definitely surpassed. I'd never really laughed at a Pokemon game before, or had my face glued to the screen due to the story. Pokemon games for me were always just something I just sorta played and had fun with, but they always felt different from other RPG series like Final Fantasy or Tales or whatever else, and I never got super invested in anything besides the gameplay. BW/B2W2 sort of was better about it, but not quite to the extent of SuMo, and this is definitely my favorite Pokemon gen so far.

Because you wanted your team reviewed.

  • Don't really know about Necrozma; need to look at potential sets that would do good for it. (Admittedly, it's oddly distributed stat-wise). What are you trying to go with this?
  • Guzzlord is probably fine, since you aren't going to be using your speed much anyway. But to be fair, you're still going to get blasted by Fairies and the like no matter what, as its defenses are still bad; actually speaking, everything bar its high HP is bad.
    • (Attacking stats are somewhat passable, I guess)
  • Lax isn't a great nature on Solgaleo (well, any Defense drops are bad unless the difference between an uncut stat / non-cut is negligible and wouldn't really matter too much). It's not bad, but should really be Adamant or Jolly (mine is the former). If you want to go mixed, I suppose Naive would work, but advising against it.
  • Alakazam is fine for a traded mon, though you really need to get a Timid one. Inner Focus is okay as an ability for now.
  • Tapu Koko should be using a speed boosting nature (in your case, Timid would've worked as you have no physical moves on it). You shouldn't need Agility on it as it's the same speed as Jolteon.

I get that you have no control over traded 'mons, but stuff you can capture on your own, try to get high IVs and ideal natures. I like to use Smogon to determine appropriate sets. Yeah, it's competitively oriented and there are HAs in there that we don't have access to in-game, but it helps; especially if you want to play in the Battle Royale/Tree.

(Consider the battle facilities as a less predictable Showdown for the most part)
