Generic Pool Thread

Recommended Posts

As a result of the New Deal, several new proposals have been brought in to assist with the card pool. One of these is the way generics are accepted. Now when your generics are accepted, they will be posted here, and every 4 weeks, 100 of these will be accepted to arrive to 2099. In spite of these mostly being chosen by the Pack Managers of 2099, 10-20 (Depending on the number of votes in that set of 4 weeks) of these are up to the decision of you all. You can leave a post in this section noting what cards you are interested seeing in the next set (Limit a vote of up to 10 per 4 weeks, and you cannot vote for your own cards) or leaving specific comments on other cards here. Thanks for contributing to the pool, either through your cards here or your posts below!

[spoiler=Comments]

I voted the cards mainly because I found them interesting or that I thought them to improve diversity/options in some way.

- Guardian's Curse is an amazing card. I get a feeling it may have been made to support zombies or something, but it really allows an interesting amount of plays. While the Pendulum Effect is quite telegraphed (I'm not sure if I would ever want to place it there except if I wished to Pendulum Summon), I love the hand eff, since unlike most "end battle phase hand traps", this one actually protects your monsters in an interesting and fair way (konami pls).

- I actually liked a lot of most of Sakura's Synchros. They are really simple and straight to the point in what they want to do (sometimes you look at the sea of CCG and it seems cards only get more and more complex, without accomplishing much, while there is a lot you can do with simple effects). I voted for the Level 6 mainly because they seemed the most decent/accessible as generics (and I think the tcg Lv6 Pool is lacking), and is probably the best Level when I try including tuners/synchros in Core Golems.

- Yuhi Sachiko had lots of interesting concepts (I love Lilith and what it can allow, and both disruptive cards are just delicious). But for some reason, I didn't quite liked most of his ED monsters (they are powerful but just made me go "meh"), except Enchantress of Conquerors actually, which I may had voted if it had a more synergetic Level with Lilith (you would have to use a Lv4 Fusion to do it with them, of course you could use other tuners but I it just felt like they should have worked better together).

- Shimmer JADE Dragon has an interesting effect (specially since most Lv8 seems to focus on something else besides Spells). In some stances, getting any Spell could be borderline OP, but since its delayed (and the card is kind of dedicated to do it and not much else), its seems more than fair to me. I'm pretty interested on cards that let you recycle Spells actually (feels like it wasn't explored enough).

- Murasame got a pretty interesting effect. It both allows you to get rid of backrow for a turn (mainly when you go for game) and acts as a really convenient tuner (I keep trying to think on ways to abuse this though, but in most cases, the cards that float or whatever would be at fault I think), outside having a decent scale. I'm just wondering if the non-Pendulum-Summonable clause is actually necessary though (even if people do something to reduce your scale to 0 or whatever, its a investment that may as well be rewarded with this guy).

- Ghoul's Lament is something weird. It actually allows you to out a couple monsters with troublesome protection (non-targeted and non-destructible) but makes both player's draw 1 (and in the end its a +0 card for both player's, I love it). I can actually see myself siding this one against decks with troublesome bosses.

- Tuning Sorceress is also weird (in a good way). I mean, the reason the card got my interest is that it both allows you to synchro using only 1 special summon (if there are restrictions or for whatever reason you want to lower how much SS you do) and it can also put to work monsters that may have been dead in your hand otherwise (if I run a deck with a bunch of Levels 5-6 with a weird strategy, or a bunch of other possible scenarios), I think overall this card allows a variety of strategies to shine, so that's probably why I like it.

Honorable mentions being:

- Dova's and Speedroid's Rank-Up-Magic Spells. I really like how they set themselves back from Grave (I actually didn't liked it at the start, but its actually a nice way to cover how clunky these cards normally are and rewards dedication in using them). I just barely didn't voted for Gaia Evolution because it felt selfish to do so (MY CORE GOLEMS WANT IT), these kind of cards seems more fit to a later set/booster (or maybe something specifically dedicated to xyz or RUMs).

- A couple other cards that I really felt like using on my Core Golems (mainly EARTH or Rock support), but for the same reason I felt iffy on voting for specific support (like for spellcasters/warriors/dragons), I decided not to vote for them (its the first set, so it should be as broad ranged as possible). But either way I still think this is a good way to measure good concepts (that feeling of "I want to try this in my deck", you know?), maybe later.

- Striker's Pendulum Synchros. I was about to vote for the River card, but suddenly I felt like they were lacking something. I mean, I quite liked them but somehow I felt they were kinda clunky (hard to say without testing of course). Either way I really want to see more of that.

- My cards that got no votes. They were slight changed you know? LOOK AT MY CARDS!

I might also add some generics later! I'm not sure where I can get them in, but...

Just in case some of you didn't receive this earlier, either in the Skype chat or wherever. (Remember, I asked him earlier about this)

I was going to submit some generics once I found some that are suitable, but I'll abstain from it until the new changes set in.

I guess I'll abstain from that as well, then.

[spoiler=Notes]
No. 6 was hard to pick out from the rest of set.
No. 9 isn't on the list of submissions. Probably due to it being a primo card and forgotten about or removed from the submissions list. If that's the case then my pick for No. 9 would be replaced with "Shiida, Silver Rose Outcast"

Updated the thread to remove all the cards that made it into Envoys of Dusk. Will be updating this tomorrow with all the cards that got into the pool, but voting is up and going! Do note if you cast your votes now, you can change later if you see cards in the coming selections to vote on. I will post when such updates are up. For now, here you go

Updated with all the current accepted cards. To get in the next pack, please make sure your generics are accepted by 2 of the judges by tomorrow evening. If you are on the fret about 1 or more of your own submissions, please do PM one of us about it and we will get to it ASAP. I work today a long day at work, so I will suggest to reach Darkfireblade25, Self Destruct Button, or Toyo before myself today. Otherwise, have yourself a great Mother's Day!

[spoiler=]

Overused Overlay (Hintin)

Excellent against Xyz-based decks. There's nothing much to say on the matter, it would really be a good addition to the card pool.

Poker Joker Yarliqueen (Darj/Voltex)

Really creative idea, I like this one by a lot.

Jugo the Interferer (Tinkerer)

We need some sort of annoying monsters, a kind of floodgates. Otherwise, the game wouldn't be fun by just winning in OTKs.

Fêngxînglán the Gale Dragon (Sakura)

A nice addition to the generic WIND Synchro card pool. It's also useful for OTKs, depending on which deck you run it.

Riffwalker Sopranas & Riffwalker Altanos (VCR_CAT)

Nice cameo there, friend. :3

Mobile Battle Platform - Yamato Cannon (VCR_CAT)

This card is really good and fairly difficult to summon, it rewards the effort.

Tour Conductor from the Underworld (Kanashi)

Excellent choice for 1st turn DARK Xyz, also I'd run it in Riftwalkers.

Moon Witch & Night Fiend (Kanashi)

This card is good, has potential, but it can also be potentially powercreeped, keep an eye on this one, please.

Unexpected Revenge (Darkness)

Enough said.
