Prologue

 

BGM:  War

 

Greetings.  And welcome to the world of Contractors.  A time where the lives of the innocent are placed in the hands of those who are invisible.  A world within a world, where men and women of extraordinary talent are bound to nothing more than a scrap of paper.  They remain anonymous, except to themselves, and the organizations that created them.  These people--contractors--are among the most dangerous on the planet.  And only those like themselves know they exist.

 

In the world of Contractors, you are a soulless husk.  A weapon for hire.  An assassin.  Your sole reason for existing is to kill.  Your organization--the ones who trained you, raised you, and have had and known everything about you since your good for nothing birth on this planet--is the key to your survival.  Your ‘allies’ are as powerful as you are, but those outside of this small ring of trust you have attempted to establish, are much stronger, and much more dangerous.  You reside under the Concealed Mass Corporation, and you are there to follow orders, no matter the cost.

 

A list of the greatest assassins on Earth--from one through one hundred--is pinned in numerous places in your base of operations.  Over the urinal.  Next to your bed.  On the door before you walk into your bedroom.  In the kitchen.  And permanently looped and updated electronically via a projector in the Control Room.  And while you cannot see the faces of your enemies, you know that you are not on this list.  You are an unknown.  But these assassins from this world that you live are outmaneuvering you politically, ethically, and methodically.  The world notices their actions, but they don’t know who these assassins are.  And it is your job to climb the ranks, and bring back results to Concealed Mass Corporation.

 

Concealed Mass has chosen seven of you to manipulate the world for the glory of the United States of America.  Where you are from is irrelevant.  As of this moment, you are an invisible force with a fake history and plastered documents making you just another jock in the USA.  What you know about yourself and your past should be forgotten.  You are not a person any more.  You are not valued.  You are not a friend.  You are an object.  You are a one man army.  You are a designated killing machine.

Name: John Murdoch
Age: 25

Alias: Griever

Personality: On the surface, John is oddly comical, adding levity to tense situations with his dry sarcasm, flippant attitude and seemingly permanent deadpan expression. Having developed a reputation for being a cocky brute, he is known throughout the organization for his reckless self endangerment and inability to play well with others. Furthermore, his taste for expensive suits, fine dinning and public drinking only further lend themselves to the shallow and arrogant aura that Griever seems to radiate upon a first glance. Oddly enough, despite all these apparent flaws, John is a incorrigible womanizer. When he's not in the field, Griever is known to spend a lot of his time and money cavorting around town with various women.

 

However, whilst the above attributes do have a place in his true personality, a large part of his outward persona is an intentional facade that been set in place to cause both prying eyes and those unfamiliar with him to underestimate his frightening intelligence and ability. John is an exceptional tactician, well-versed in various forms combat and able to come up with brutally efficient strategies on the fly; making him useful in both forceful infiltration as  well as mission that require subterfuge.

John Stands at 6 feet and 3 inches and weighs 183 pounds. Though not particular bulky, his build is that of someone who obviously engages in a lot of physical activity. His taste for expensive clothing and handsome features can catch the eye of the occasional onlooker, but other than that he tends to blend in with most scenes seamlessly with his uninterested expression and dead eyes.       



[spoiler=Latent Potential]

Tamper: John's Latent Potential allows him to manipulate the stability of any object he makes physical contact with. By "reinforcing" an object, he can make the target layer or surface much harder than it would usually be whilst not sacrificing it's mobility. Conversely, it is also possible for John to weaken objects he comes into contact with. Weakened objects become much frailer and or more susceptible to breaking, warping or in some cases malfunctioning.

The hardness of an effected object is highly dependent on it's original state. For example, John has only been able to reinforce a newspaper to the point of stopping light fire from a low caliber pistol before crumbling, but has weakened a riot shield to a level that he was able to break through it with his hands along with a pair of reinforced gloves.

The effects of John's Latent potential only last as long as he his able to maintain contact with the target, meaning that any reinforcement or weakening will fade instantaneously after contact has been disengaged. Whilst John is unable to harden or weaken living things in the same manner that he does objects, Tamper has the interesting effect of boosting the emotional state and focus of biological creatures he tries to reinforce and inducing panic and in some cases sickness to victims who he attempts to weaken.

Side note: John is only able to use Tamper on two objects simultaneously.



[spoiler=Skills and Standard Gear ]

Unique fighting style: Whilst a capable marksmen at every range, the nature of John's Latent Potential makes getting up close and personal ideal in most combat situations. Consequently, he has become an extraordinarily lethal CQC combatant even by Contractor standards. Having trained in a number of disciplines such as: Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, Judo, Kick boxing,Krava Maga and knife fighting, John has developed his own fighting style that seamlessly merges martial arts with close quarters gun play.

Shot-gun, Pistol, and SMG Proficiency: As previously stated, John is most comfortable in close quarters combat. Though he is familiar with the workings of other armaments, he truly shines when a gun of one of these three classes is in his hands.

 

Colt .45 1911 "Margret": John's weapon of choice in almost any situation. Margret has been at his side from the very beginning, yet is still kept in near perfect condition despite John's religious use of her. Known to to be able to conduct a symphony with this trusted side arm, John considers Margret an extension of his own body.

 

Remington 870 Express Tactical: Whilst not a part of his standard equipment, Griever is known to bring his trusty shut gun into missions that take place in military hot zones or where large fire fights are likely to take place.  

 

Bullet Proof Suit: Though they may appear to be your standard overpriced foreign suits; all of John's wardrobe has bee woven with a lightweight kevlar and offer some defense against small arms fire and bladed weapons.

 

Knuckled Gloves: Murdock is almost always found brandishing a pair of black fingerless leather gloves that have had small plates of metal placed into the knuckles to increase the damage of his unarmed attacks. 

 

Cutlery: A pair of twin daggers that Murdock reserves for silent kills.

Mute stands at five foot six and weighs in at 120 pounds, slightly underweight. She has taken great care to appear youthful, and wears her old private school uniform often.

[spoiler=Character's Personality]Mute is a polite young lady. She speaks softly and makes sure to keep eye contact with people she's speaking to. If someone is in need of assistance, such as an elderly lady needing help crossing the street, she will drop everything to help them out. She believes that one must do good deeds, that it's an innate necessity to humanity. She's a proper girl and easily flustered when people flirt or make any kind of crude remarks, but also tends to play along with things in a friendly way. It's quite the sight when she gives her tinkling laughter at some big construction worker's sexual joke and responses with a blushing "Oh, you." She avoids confrontation when she can, and tries to speak with a calming voice when others get heated.
However there's another side of her. She's entirely obsessive and easily falls in love. The object of her affection takes over her thoughts easily, and she will do almost anything to get them to love her back. And she'll do even more to keep other people away from them. Though she tends to not go to such extremes when it comes to getting their love. As she firmly believes that her current object of affection already loves her just hasn't admitted it yet. Instead she'll just follow them, try to get their attention and touch, and keep anything she deems as bad for their love away. That being said, if the object of her affection gives her reason to doubt she won't hesitate to get rid of them and move onto a new target. "If I was able to kill him so easily, he must not have been my soulmate..."

While she believes in doing good, she also doesn't see a problem with killing. It comes natural to her and, she realizes it's necessary at times, and she thinks it feels amazing. There's no greater show of affection than killing someone with your own hand. She doesn't speak of this because it's such a messy affair and not polite to talk about, but she doesn't see a problem with murdering.


 
[spoiler=Combat and Ability Stuff]
Character's Latent Potential: Mute has an array of abilities, though none of them stronger than her "muting" power.

-Silence of the Grave: Mute can create a field around her, in a ten foot radius, that completely silences any sound. From footsteps, to breathing, to explosions and gunshots. She can target specific areas, such as a square foot several feet away, or an entire ten foot area.

-Attached by Fate: Mute can get a basic idea of wherever a target is. She can only do this to two people at any time, and it fades away after several days unless she keeps close to them. She must touch the target for this to be implemented.

-I Know Your True Feelings: Mute passively can sense the emotions of those she has eye contact with.
 
Character's Arsenal: Mute has a fairly simple arsenal. And that is a 6 inch kitchen knife and a 9mm pistol that she keeps in straps around her upper thigh.
 
Character's Special Skills: Mute is an adapt liar. She can spin a tale and fake any emotion that she needs to. She also has learned how to pick locks extremely well. She knows three languages, English, French, and Japanese.


 
Character's Goals: Mute's goal is the "pure and noble pursuit" of finding her one true love. She thinks that an organization such as this is the perfect means to finding someone who truly will love her for who she is, without faulting her for her murderous streak. She also wonders if perhaps someone in the top 100 might be her soulmate.

If Pandemic had any sort of weak point, it would be his so called 'personality'.  He is a very quiet individual, but tries his best to blend in with a crowd.  He is a very impressionable soul, and can be bent to others will fairly easily.  However, he hates people who take advantage of that side of him, and will resents them.  He has a dark sense of humor, and usually makes jokes that make people around him uncomfortable...if one were to call them jokes.  Pandemic also loves experimenting, whether it be on dead subjects, or even himself.  He loves seeing how the living body ticks, and what makes it stop ticking. 


 

[spoiler=Latent Potential:]

Acidic Blood:  Pandemic's blood, upon making contact with it's outside environment, becomes a highly corrosive acid.  It can destroy organic material in a matter of seconds, and inorganic material is disintegrated in mere minutes.  Pandemic cannot be affected by his own acid however.

 

Halitosis: After countless experiments on his own body, he finally had a breakthrough once some toxins melded with his own alveoli.  When he exhales, a noxious gas leaks from his mouth, alongside the usual carbon dioxide.  This gas causes eye swelling in mere seconds, and severe muscle spasms if the victim is exposed longer than thirty seconds.  Permanent paralysis occurs after 10 minutes of exposure.  However, since this ability cannot be turned off, he wears his gas mask at all times unless the situation is dire.  The gas mask dilutes the gas and disperses the chemicals into harmless vapors.

Echo is what some might referred to as a confused individual. He always seems to be in a state of wonder, with a constant and unchanging expression of said wonder on his face. He seems to be someone who is surprised by most everything, but never actually has an expression that expresses the surprise accurately. Socially, he's pretty inept, as a conversation with him is like one with a bot. He tends to be very gullible to most everything his colleagues say, everything he says he does so in a matter of fact tone, and he operates on the principle of only saying what he's been asked to.

 

Despite all of this that make him seem more like a child than anything else, he is still an assassin through and through. While he may be gullible, Echo still has a rather good memory, and thus is able to easily distinct foe from friend, feeling practically nothing towards the former. As far as killing goes, he seems to have a sense of apathy towards it, mostly because those he has a hand in killing he doesn't really recognize as other people.

Character's Latent Potential:
Tremor Sense: When Echo touches his hand to the ground, he is able to send out a pulse that covers an area, 1 mile in diameter, and senses all of the vibrations within said area. The pulse then contracts and comes back to Echo, informing him on the general shape and the locations of everyone within the pulse when it was sent out. 
SFX: When Echo strikes a surface, even with minimal force, he is able to send a sound wave to any area within a 20 foot radius of himself. When the sound wave reaches its destination, it then lets loose a some kind of a noise effect. The noise effect has to be something that Echo has heard within the past six hours, and can range to anything from soft thumping to loud crashing to dank memes. 

Character's Arsenal: 

Echo is someone who tends to prefer mid range combat. As such, he tends to use a carbine rifle as his primary armament, with a simple 9mm pistol for a sidearm. Aside from that, he tends to carry around more utility type grenades, such as smoke and flash grenades. 

Character's Special Skills: On the covert side of things, he is someone who is adept decryption, which also comes with a bit of tech knowledge as well. On the overt side of things, beyond just SFX he is good at making himself a distraction. Also plays a mean harmonica.

From her partly shaven head, to her electric green hair, to her missing left arm, and down to her stained combat boots, Eliza is 5 feet and 6 inches of 'head-turning' abnormalities. Of course she would be if she weren't a master of disguise, able to mask her identity fairly well in public. Then again, even in disguise she can't help but attract attention. 

 

Sporting amber eyes, angular features, and make-up that is always fleeked, Eliza defines the sharp aesthetic. Definitely intimidating at a glance, her training doesn't help to dissuade an onlooker from this impression, boasting an impressively muscled frame and a clearly visible scar that runs from just under her left eye and traces its way down her jaw and neck before disappearing on her back.

Disciplined and detail-oriented, Eliza always keeps strictly to the straight and narrow. She defines her goals, makes a plan to achieve them, and does not like to deviate from that plan. Eliza is obsessive over her goals, whether they be a current mission or life-long dream, and when they are thrown off course, even a little she begins to feel extremely anxious, should this go on she exhibits bouts of violent frustration. This is in stark contrast to her calculative discipline. 

 

Eliza is compulsively driven to be doing something, sitting on her hands and doing nothing drives her insane. Without clear directive she tends to feel lost and she will immediately seek a plan of action or invent a suitable one herself. Already fairly irritable, boredom makes Eliza downright angry and she will do even the smallest of tasks to try and keep it at bay. 

 

Eliza has no room in her life for others' pity, fortunately in being a Contractor she doesn't find that much. Now people thinking she is weaker because of her disability, that comes up over once and awhile and it is a challenge she does not take lightly. Her discipline goes out the window when that specific strength of character is question. Which she often ends up beating herself up later about because while she has no room for others' pity she is filled with self loathing and can't let go of [REDACTED]

You know Eliza had several reasons to be a Contractor. She had always been useful but then she lost her arm and of course she was useful, but not like she was and the serum could impossible things. Deep down she even hoped maybe she could...regrow(?) her arm, but that didn't happen. Still being a Contractor means that she can atone for [REDACTED].

Combat Information:


[spoiler=Latent Potential]

Vocal Manipulation: Eliza is able to freely manipulate her own voice, allowing her to imitate the voices of others and even the sounds of animals and non-organic things, such as gunshots or explosions. The only hindrance to this is that while her vocal cords seem to be heavily fortified and obviously more versatile in comparison to a normal human, using her ability to imitate excessively loud noises in quick succession can cause her to lose her voice for an extended period of time.

Micro-Vocal Sensitivity: The serum also gave Eliza the ability to detect micro-changes in a person's vocal pattern. When applied, Eliza is able to tell when a person is lying by the fluctuation in their voice.

9mm Pistol: Strapped low on her right hip, just above the knee is a simple pistol, modified to hold a few more rounds than normal to reduce the amount she would have to reload

Valkyrie: Valkyrie is the name of the one-handed sword sheathed with the hilt jutting over left shoulder. It is a simple doubled-edged sword that can be easily wielded with one hand. 

Throwing Knives x4: 4 professional grade throwing knives are sheathed parallel to Valkyrie on Eliza's left shoulder. 

 

 


[spoiler=Special Skills]

Interrogation/Torture: Able to manipulate her voice to impersonate the sound of your loved ones dying, the guttural sound of your greatest fear, or even the whisper of your conscious to come clean Eliza is incredibly skilled at dragging information from unruly tongues. Likewise her methods are usually less than pleasant and are usually coupled with physical elements of torture that accelerate the process even further. 

Subterfuge: Skilled with wardrobe and make-up, Eliza is able to change identities like she can her voice, she is a great undercover agent, especially since she can detect lies. She is especially successful as a seductress, luring informants into her snare without them even realizing they have been caught. 

Unique Sword Combat: While preferring to just point and shoot, which she is plenty capable at doing, Eliza is incredibly skilled with her sword and it is such an odd fighting style, combining both simple(yet refined) sword training with acrobatic/gymnastic skills, that most of her opponents do not know how to counter it. Then there is the whole one arm thing that throws most opponents off. 

Distraction: Able to mimic the sounds of explosions or gunfire, Eliza can distract enemies fairly easily while setting up an ambush or escape.

> Eliza learned how to use a sword because at close quarters she figured that bigger opponents would be able to overpower if she didn't have a melee weapon to even the odds. This is also why her fighting style highlights acrobatic and gymnastic skills.

Vocal Manipulation: Eliza is able to freely manipulate her own voice, allowing her to imitate the voices of others and even the sounds of animals and non-organic things, such as gunshots or explosions. The only hindrance to this is that while her vocal cords seem to be heavily fortified and obviously more versatile in comparison to a normal human, using her ability to imitate excessively loud noises in quick succession can cause her to lose her voice for an extended period of time.

Aero can come across in a cocky manner when it comes to his skills, but this purely because he is sure and proud of his abilities and skills. Whether it's just cockiness or being totally sure of his skills, no one but Aero truly knows. Nevertheless, Aero takes orders given with a stride, as a soldier given orders by his commanding officer. Aero keeps silent in some occasions, but particularly when it comes to any mission. His reasoning: unnecessary chatter interrupts his concentration when sniping.
 
But there are the other occasions in which Aero must socialize with others. When this happens, he gives off the cold shoulder, not really caring much about those around him... Caring for someone...he thinks this as a weakness. This is only because of [CLEARANCE REQUIRED]. But whether caring for someone or not, Aero tries his best to keep those he's with alive, not leaving any man or woman behind in any mission. When off from a mission, Aero has a tendency to do a lot of drinking (mainly whiskey, his favorite alcohol).

Inhuman Eyesight - An ability that Aero nicknames "Sniper Vision", which he uses to benefit his sniping skills. With this eye ability, Aero is able to detect a target's heat signature which will show the targets in different colors based on the emotion spectrum:

  • Blue - Calm

Increased Reflexes - Aero's reflexes are a bit more heightened than others, meaning his reaction times are a lot quicker.

  • Kyle's real name is taken from a few famous snipers from history: Kyle - This is from the American sniper, Chris Kyle, who was credited with 160 confirmed kills, Murphy - This is from a sniper from the American Revolutionary War by the name of Timothy Murphy, who sniped the British General Simon Fraser during the Battle of Saratoga.
  • Kyle's Alias, Aero, is a jab at the word "arrow". Arrows were used by archers, who in a sense, were the first instances of a sniper.
  • The nickname for Kyle's sniper rifle, Angel, is taken from the title of his theme: "Angel with a Shotgun" by The Cab.
  • The nickname for Kyle's revolver pistol, Tombstone, is taken from the title of the movie of the same name: "Tombstone".

Yes. The other third the current existing Contractors have yet to make a name for themselves or are simply not considered worth being acknowledged. Our cast are one of these such persons.

I was just reading out of curiosity but I'd like to point out that a pH of 0.5 is altogether not that bad and pH can go into the negatives. pH is also not the factor that makes acid more corrosive. Also what's the point of an assassin being able to breathe poisonous gas when you have to wear that conspicuous as hell mask? At that point, you should've just packed your own poison gas or have the materials to make it.

 

Think I'll have an app up this weekend if that's not too late. My exams are almost done.

I just wanted to make the acid seem more realistic...Guess i'll get rid of the PH thing then.  And the fact that he breathes toxic gas, but wears the mask, is cause he can't turn it off.  He only takes it off when necessary.  Maybe read a bit closer next time?

I hope you guys are as excited as I am.  I'm happy to say I've already done a lot of work on some of our more esteemed Contractors (the top 100), so you can expect plenty of surprises.  In addition, our missions will be taking place all over the world.  From the US, Mexico, and Canada, to Russia, Europe, Africa, and of course China.  Each mission will be a crucial part of our story, so you can be sure that all of them will somehow (no spoilers!) tie into our main plot.  Looking forward to the rest of our Contractors.
