Yu-Gi-Oh! Rulings Questions

Recommended Posts

Yeah, a Snow in the Graveyard and a Necroface that is banished can't be destroyed. (Their effects' activations are still negated.)

Okay, I just didn't know if an effect has to fully go through or else it doesn't work at all. Like if it can't be destroyed then it wouldn't be negated either because both of those details are not being fulfilled.

Welcome to PSCT Conjunctions! Today, you will be learning how different actions are conjoined in one effects, and how the words use to join them change how they affect one another! Here are the four main words used in modern card text:

THEN:

A is required for B, but NOT vice-versa. If A does not happen, then stop. If B cannot happen, you still do A.

ALSO:

Neither is required for the other. Just do as much as you can!

AND IF YOU DO:

A is required for B, but NOT vice-versa. If A does not happen, then stop. If B cannot happen, you still do A. (Distinct from Then in regards to issues of effect timing)

AND:

BOTH are required. If you cannot do both, then you do nothing.

In the case of Cydrafinity, you have a and if you do, meaning it will attempt to negate, and if it does negate, it will also attempt to destroy, but whether it can destroy or not isn't relevant to the negation!

Hope this was helpful!

i basically ripped this from here, but took a bit of information here and there it because tl;dr

That's also a good place to look at in regards to how these conjunctions affect timing, but again, here is the brief version.

also i hope i dont come across as condescending, i just felt like being extravagant for some reason

Does Trading Places fizzle if your life becomes lower during resolution, say with a burn spell or the opponent gaining life?

This is what happens when Trading Places resolves: "If your LP is higher than your opponent's, switch your LP with your opponent."

The underlined is not followed by a colon (":"), so you can tell it isn't an activation condition. It is something that has to be true for "switch your LP with your opponent" to happen when the effect resolves, not something that has to be true to merely activate the card.

(Note that although it isn't an activation condition, you still need to have higher LP than your opponent to activate the card.)

Can Solemn Judgement stop all Pendulum Monsters to be summoned just like Solemn Strike? I notice Judgement don't have (S) like the text in Solemn Strike (Monter) (S)

Solemn Judgment last printing was on LC Joey on 2013, a year before pendulumd arrive and thus on an era where inherited multiple summon didnt exist. As far as i know, yes. It can stop a multiple pendulum summon

Why not? I was sure that you were allowed to make your opponent draw cards to cause them to lose the game.

http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Card_Rulings:Dark_World_Dealings

If there are 0 cards in either player's Deck, "Dark World Dealings" cannot be activated.[1]

Both players need to be able to perform the action in order for it to be activated, otherwise it’s an illegal activation, much like how you can’t activate Hand Destruction if one of the players doesn’t have 2 cards in hand.

if I compulse an absolute zero, and strike the nuke, does it get destroyed and sent to the GY?

"When "Elemental Hero Absolute Zero" is returned to the Extra Deck, its effect activates, and "Divine Wrath" can be chained. "Divine Wrath" will negate the effect and "Elemental Hero Absolute Zero" will be destroyed and sent from the Extra Deck to the Graveyard."

Be sure to check the rulings page on the wikia or if it's an newer card, it's likely Ygorganization has it instead.

You are able to, Pysframe Omega does the same thing. As long as the effect that will return the card to GY doesn't have specifications you are good to do it.

Is there a cap on how much ATK/DEF a monster can have?

Strictly speaking, no.

There will be in video games or online clients, since they have to store the information somehow.

You might also be called for poor sportsmanship or slow play if you continue an infinite stat gain loop far beyond the point of usefulness.

Thank for your answer, when a Pendulum card on the Pendulum zone is destroyed by card effect, can I activate it's monster effect that says "When/ If this card is destroyed by card effect ..."?

If a Pendulum Monster is not in a Pendulum Zone, it is not treated as a Spell Card. After it has been destroyed by a card effect while in the Pendulum Zone, it is placed face-up in the Extra Deck, and as it left the Pendulum Zone, it is treated as a monster again, so its monster effects can activate. An important point is the wording specifying "this card", rather than "this monster", as it wasn't destroyed as a monster.
