They had managed, through the joint effort of Hob, Lindow, and Ryia, thrown the shark off the girl. It landed on its back and began thrashing around, trying to move itself into a position to dive back into the sand. Damien, noticing its attempts, moved towards it with purpose.

He gripped his sword and swung, aiming for the creature's open mouth. With a swift strike he cut through the now defenseless monster's palate and sliced most of the way through. The shark's body began to spasm as it started to bleed out onto the desert. Its flopping growing weaker and weaker.

Unfortunately though that threat had been eliminated the next was approaching fast. And, unlike the first, it didn't dive directly in front of Ryia. Instead it moved underneath her and emerged, attempting to latch onto Ryia's right leg on its upward surge.

Keres continued along, focused on the destination, her heart pounding in her chest. She could only hope the other sharks would ignore her and that her allies would be able to hold them off without her. She watched one approach directly in front of her and drew in a deep breath.

If she could get past this one she might be able to reach the rock formation, which she could now see had some sort of carved spiraling staircase along its length, before the others took notice.

Then she heard the noise behind her. Looking back she saw Reinaan, riding the lizard, heading for her. She panicked or a moment, which only grew as she saw the shark that was chasing behind him.

He got nearer and his intention was clear. "Split...up." She said, her throat sore.

The shark that was in front of her this whole time was by then upon her. She turned and worked her magic, flinging a miniature wave of water at the creature and dragging it off to the side.

The Auran was watching this with a sneer on his face and he backed away from the edge of the formation. He was still visible, but less so, and they could see him raise his arms in the air.

A flaming spear formed above him instead, spinning, spinning, and growing to a length of twelve feet long. He pointed it at the two nearest to him but didn't release it yet.

[spoiler=OOC]map

One shark down but many more left. And yes the Auran is holding action for the moment.

Gilly was ready to celebrate upon seeing the shark killed by Mr. McGrumpyface, but the fight wasn't over yet! It was only then that she noticed that there was a weird guy shouting on top of the stone thing, but more importantly, there was another shark popping out of the sand to take a bite out of Pinky.

"Nuh uh no you don't!" the halfling shouted and ran at the shark, ice spear out. When she reached the shark, she stabbed out with the spear, attempting to aim for the inside of its mouth like Grumpypants had done. Hob took up the rear, head lowered to ram into the shark's side.

After watching Damien deal away with the first shark, Lindow quickly turned to check the status Keres and Reinaan as the pair attempted to rush the demon gate. His gaze lingered on The Auran, who conjured a large flame construct, after further back on to his platform. Those two would need help dealing with that man...

Suddenly the second shark surfaced near Ryia's feet, prompting Gilly and Hob to charge after it again. "Try to finish that one quickly, I'm going to help the other two..." Seizing the opportunity to pull away and push forward, Lindow called over to Damian, before breaking off into a sprint towards the gate. Well aware of the fact that they were safer with the enemy scattered, Lindow ran on the side opposite of the fire chosen, being sure to keep his eye on the sharks that had yet join the battle.

While Ryia had braced herself for the attack of the shark, she was taken off guard as the creature came in from a different angle then the last one. Kicking her foot back to avoid being eaten by the shark, she was then caught horribly off balance and as the shark rose further up she found herself tumbling over the shark. Landing on her back against the magically firm sand, the girl watched as the shark launched itself into the air, descending down to the ground. While it seemed primed to land on top of Ryia, the girl tried to roll herself away to not be crushed, aided by the halfling and her mount. On its descent  the shark found an icicle stabbed into it and hob ramming into it and knocking it off course.

The shark found itself landing face first into the sand, and started squirming to dive back under. Getting back on her feet, Ryia stood back up and took a look to see everyone running off, and trying to keep the heat off of both Gilly and Keres, the girl took a few stomps into the ground, before taking heavier steps towards the pillar, slowly. As she did, she was moving away from the zone of magically altered terrain that Ackrin created, and with a simple thought, merged with the spirit to brace herself for whatever attacks came next.

Upon approaching Keres the girl called out to the lizard duo to split up. Looking behind him, Reinaan noticed the shark that had jumped at him was in pursuit this whole time. Keres was ready to handle the one approaching her but she definitely didn't need to get caught from both sides by two of them. He'd have to grab the girl on another pass by her. He called to his mount and she began turning to the right while mostly maintaining her speed. The shark had been gaining on them as it was able to swim faster through the sand than Kloqah could on it. Trusting his friend to keep them running in a safe course the boy grabbed a javelin and turned himself about so that he was riding the lizard backwards to keep his eyes aimed on their pursuer. The creature seemed to move oddly as it readied itself to strike. But rather than surface and jump through the air it shot straight up out of the ground trying to bite onto Kloqah's tail and hind leg.

"Move!" Reinaan called to his mount who had been focused on riding ahead. She would attempt to avoid the bite but her grace and fine motor skills when it came to things like this left something to desired. Her leg might not get caught but the teeth would surely close around the bulk of her tail at this rate. As he attempted to warn her the Draken readied his javelin before calling to Ziiyol instead. The spirit's power flowed into his being as flames began gathering at his core. The trail raced along to his right foot with the familiar flame claws extending off his foot's own claws. The boy rammed his foot into the shark's mouth, the blades piercing through. From the teeth beginning to close around her tail and the flaming blades burning it as well Kloqah hissed in pain. The shark too didn't appreciate the attack but due to the pain hadn't yet clamped down onto the lizard's tail. Reinaan began twisting his foot to wrench the blades inside it's jaw about to cause it more pain which only resulted in wild thrashing which halted the trio's forward momentum. With the javelin still in hand the boy would begin to try and poke at the shark to release his mount. Kloqah too was incredibly upset and attempted to turn about enough to snap at the creature's snout. The three were in something of a deadlock, all contorting and pulling at one another for freedom.

The shark that had attacked Ryia managed to squirm its way back underground. Though it didn't stay there for long. In spite of Ryia's stomping the shark didn't seem to care much to attack the girl again. Instead it launched itself up at the Halfling instead, jaw wide and prepared to clamp around the girl's much more accessible head.

Damien, swearing in frustration, rammed his body into the shark. Though his weight didn't seem to do much against the much heavier creature on its own.

As Lindow made his dash across the desert one of the sharks circling the pillar seemed to notice the man and broke away to head for him in a straight shot. To make things worse for the Thunder Chosen the shark that Keres had knocked away had decided that she wasn't worth the effort and came at him from behind as well.

Keres saw this, and called out a croaking warning, before looking between him and Reinaan. She didn't know who to help. Nor did she know if she could even help from her position. Nodding to herself she did the one thing she knew she could do. And she used this time to carry on towards the stone structure.

Now 100 feet away, she could feel a distortion in the air. An uncomfortable tingling and nausea that she knew was coming from the Demon Gate. Even inactive it emitted an aura of wrongness and evil.

Reinaan, much farther away, wouldn't feel this. What he would feel would be a lurching as the confusing tangle of bodies caused Kloqah to topple over to the side.

The shark slipped off of her and dove back into the sand. It circled around to the other side of the pair and attempted to launch up towards where Reinaan had ended up.

Before it emerged, however, the Auran, letting out a loud cackle, shot the flaming lance towards the Draken's back.

[spoiler=OOC]map

Without any interference Keres could reach the structure next post.

Before Gilly knew it, there was a shark aiming to take off her head. Rather than doing something cowardly like running away or peeing her pants, the halfling instead raised up an ice spear, ready and willing to get hurt if it meant taking down this shark from the inside out. "Take this!" she shouted. "You'll find out just how horrible-tasting I am! Except, wait, I probably taste really really good cuz the food I eat is really really yummy--but whatever! Still gonna give you a tummy ache!"

However, Hob was less inclined to let that happen. The sheep increased his speed, till he was thundering like a destrier over the dunes, slightly slowed due to the sand underfoot, but fast enough nonetheless. He lowered his head for a powerful ram against the shark's side, aiming to knock it off course.

In the ongoing struggle of two reptiles and a fish Kloqah had fallen over onto her side, flinging Reinaan onto the sand in the process. The shark had released her and dove back underground in the confusion and likely just wanted to get the flaming claws out its body. The Draken rolled once or twice as he retracted his claws from his foot and held onto his javelin for what it was worth. He could almost feel the beast moving underground, likely because it wasn't leaving. In fact it was coming right for him, it's impressive array of teeth on display. The boy managed to stand and readied his javelin while also extending the flame claws off of his free hand. He could hear something else faintly behind him. It sounded nothing like a shark, leaving only the mage's next projectile as the only option. The amulet had managed to hold together after the fireball but it had sent him flying in the process. How likely was it to withstand another attack? It wasn't a position he could fight and his body acted before his mind could delay him much further, sending the boy diving off toward the north to evade both attacks.

Neither attack hit directly and in fact the spear even found a mark in the shark. Yet the flames weren't done for simply having hit something. A tendril flew about, lashing  at Reinaan as he tumbled to a stop. As it attempted to hit the boy, parts of the flame would break away and be sucked into the amulet which cracked slightly more with each hit. For now, the Draken wasn't getting hurt and the shark was in the process of dying. Kloqah had managed to get up and was smartly keeping her distance from the flames. Her little lizard however was making his way in, trying to keep back the lashes with his javelin while readying his flame claws for the final strike to the wounded shark. Within seconds he was close enough and he ran the length of his claws through the creature's head, piercing the brain and ending itself. The deed done he retreated to maintain what little of the amulet was left, not entirely trusting of the wizard's magic as it was. Kloqah approached her small rider and seemed ready to continue despite the injuries she'd sustained. Reinaan thanked her softly and hopped onto her back to continue their charge once more.

"Straight ahead girl." he instructed her, not aiming for Keres this time. He wouldn't let sharks cluster on them like that again and he looked instead to intercept any of the remaining who might attack the Water Chosen. As the lizard ran Reinaan took a moment to apply some of his salve to what he could reach of her injuries, not wanting her to be in more pain than she had to be for very long. He had only this moment to remain calm and take a deep breath. The kill had ignited a spark in his eyes. The boy wanted the mage's blood spilt all over the rock formation he hid in.

[spoiler=OOC]

Ding dong, shark 3 is dead. Boyo and lizard are charging straight ahead, meaning to keep to Keres' side and intercept shark 5 if he gets any big ideas.

Despite trying her best to drag the attention of the shark away from Gilly and Damien, it seemed in vain as the creature charged the halfling instead. Ryia cursed under her breath, not because of her failure to draw the creature but more so because she saw Gilly take an offensive stance against the creature. While Gilly's thrust seemed to strike something solid in the shark's mouth, neither it nor Hob's charge managed to deter the shark's path. Moving as fast as she could, and without much of a way to re-position the girl otherwise, Ryia merely charged into and knocked Gilly to the side, snapping the ice spear and instead having the shark bite down on her chest plate.

As the teeth started to sink in, Ryia let go of her shield as she used both of her hands to grab onto the shark's maw. Pushing and prying the teeth off, Ryia managed to push the shark off of her and with it a chunk of her armor. As the shark landed on the sand, it snapped its tail at her in the midst of its thrashing. Instinctively, Ryia raised her arm to defend against it, but with no shield there she just managed to get her armored arm whacked. Wincing in pain as her arm was knocked aside, after recovering, the girl drew her  mace out and move to smash it into the shark's gills.

"Tsk," Lindow's eye narrowed as his gaze flickered between the two sharks approaching him from both his front and flank. The creatures were closing the distance troublingly fast, and if one managed to score a hit, it could very likely lead to a rather unfavorable situation.

"Looks like I've suddenly become quite popular..."

Despite the danger of his situation, Lindow remained calm. Keeping his pace, the Thunder Chosen continued to sprint towards the gate, watching his soon to be attackers closely for any shifts in their movements. He had managed to close gap between him and the demon gate just a bit more before his dash across the sand was interrupted.

"Come..." Lindow growled as he watched the shark ahead of him quickly duck down into the ground. Glancing over his shoulder, the man was met with the second shark, diving through the air with it's jaws opened wide. Having known what expect after seeing Ryia's fight, Lindow quickly yanked his leg backwards, moments before the first shark's mouth erupted from the sand to try and take a bite.

Not wasting a moment, Lindow quickly leaped to the side. In that same instant, his shadow surged upwards in the shape of a inky black figure that vaguely resembled it's owner. Roughly grabbing Lindow by his cloak whilst the man was still in the air, the shadow figure heaved backwards slightly before sending him flying forward towards the Demon Gate with a hasty two-handed toss.

Curiosity drove Lindow to glance backwards and watch his shadow be ripped to pieces by the shark's attack, before shifting his attention to the all important landing process. Expertly hitting the ground on his hands and knees, he allowed himself to tumble slightly across the sand. As he did, the man's shadow once again darkened and began to quickly swallow up his form, causing it to appear as he was sinking into the ground.

"It'll be nice to finally escape this heat..." Lindow spoke up to the cursed sun as his vision was enveloped by the whispering darkness. Silently, a lone shadow slithered it's way across the sand towards the Demon Gate.

With the combination of Hob, Gilly, and Damien, the shark was getting overwhelmed to the point that Ryia was, without more than damaged armor, able to escape from its jaws.

As the girl began to bash away at the shark it wasn't able to do much to retaliate and as long as she kept it up the creature would slow and finally perish.

Damien whistled. "Got a savage side don't you?" he nodded at Ryia as he said this. Then, putting his sword back in his sheath, continued on the path towards the stone formation. "Suppose now that we've got this part all cleared up it's time to check out that place. Looks like some of you are already ahead of the game." He glanced over at Anis, a hint of concern on his face, before shrugging and continuing on his way.

Indeed, Keres had managed to reach the foot of the rock formation. There was a shark close behind her but she knew there wasn't much she could do about that if she wanted to keep going. Having to hope that Reinaan could cause it to hesitate so she wouldn't be attacked Keres took a step on the wide step that she found on the formation.

It seemed there was a staircase of some sort, made with tall steps wide enough for two people to travel on, spiraling around the outer edges of the formation and leading to the top. She glanced over to see Lindow suddenly pop up beside her and just nodded at him before taking another step.

Hopefully the two sharks he brought with were unable to climb.

The Auran at the top of the formation began to laugh. A wheezing, unpleasant, laugh. His thin, cracked, lips curled into a smile as he backed farther away from the edge of the formation. "And so they come. That is fine. I haven't been able to really use my magic in years. Those cretins couldn't kill me after all these years and I'm not about to let their lackey's do it."

[spoiler=OOC]Map

So yeah, the sharks are more/less gathered back at the formation now, and Lindow and Keres can make it up there...provided that shark 5 doesn't get to Keres.

Also remember Anis is still a person who exists even if Nai isn't posting. Just something to keep in mind I guess.

It looked like everybody was headed for the stone thing in the center for some reason. Gilly wasn't exactly sure what was going on, but it looked like there was a bad guy there, so there she would go! She started to run across the sand, but was fast overtaken by Hob. The halfling jumped on his back and they continued on their way. Were anybody to look like they would need help fending off the sharks they would go to them, but otherwise they were on a straight run for the formation and the Auran. Their pace wasn't as fast as a creature built for the desert, but Hob was starting to get the hang of running on sand.

Gilly glanced behind her once. "Hey, Stick-in-the-Mud! Keep up!" she shouted. It would not be apparent exactly who she was talking to unless everybody else had caught up, in which case the only person left behind was Anis.

Keres was rapidly approaching the monument but there was a shark hot on her tail. Reinaan began readying the crossbow to attempt to shoot it down should it move but thought on how many bolts the creatures had largely shrugged off. Another idea came to mind as he saw the angles of approach possible. He called to Kloqah who shifted for a more direct shot to the monument rather than the shark or the Water Chosen herself. Kloqah's speed was enough to cut the creature off in its advance rather close to the steps, affording the quiet girl the safety and time needed to advance further up toward the mage. The Draken extended his flame claws from his left hand and dove off the back of his mount, looking to stab the shark while still in the ground. It however had already begun its own offensive and shot up out of the ground to meet the boy in air.

The lizard shifted his aim quickly and rammed the claws down the shark's nostrils as the two collided. Reinaan's mass was much less than one of these creatures and so the momentum carried the two back and into the sand. The impact of the shark landing on top of him was somewhat cushioned by the loose nature of the sand but it was still far from pleasant. The shark began opening its jaw even with the blades scraping up against its brain and attempted to bite down on its target. The Draken however mustered what breath he had available to him and unleashed a stream of fire from his mouth into the body cavity of the shark. The mouth and array of teeth shut closed as the flames seared the creature's insides. Instead it began thrashing on top of the draken, each movement a mini version of the shark landing on the boy from before.

Kloqah had turned herself about upon feeling her little lizard leave her back. Seeing what was going on she wanted nothing more than to just leave but she couldn't let him keep getting hurt all the time. Using her long neck to reach in somewhat safely she sunk her teeth into the boy's ankle and began pulling with all she could. But her strength alone wasn't enough. Reinaan was alarmed to feel a bit in his foot of all things but realized quickly it must have been his mount attempting to help. He withdrew his flame claws and with both hands somewhat free pushed with all his might against the creature on top of him. Rather than lift it up and off he mainly was able to lift the one side of it up enough that Kloqah's pull was able to grab him out. The large lizard kept running, dragging her rider by the foot through the sand toward the steps. She was beyond done fighting these sharks and getting up on the big rock seemed like a good idea. Many thoughts were flying through the boy's head. He wasn't sure he would have been strong enough to do that before. Kloqah's teeth were surprisingly sharp as he could feel they'd pierced his scales. The sky was really pretty with this view he had of it. But ultimately all he voiced was his thanks for the assistance in not getting crushed.

"Thanks girl!" he managed to call out while lifting his head up enough to try and see where the lizard was going. It wasn't very far at all to the steps themselves and for a split second he considered if Kloqah meant to simply drag him up the stairs like this. He wasn't really in a position to tell his rescuer how to best rescue him so whatever happened would happen.

As the shark lied there on the ground, Ryia did not relent in her attack, striking at the gills of the creature with one blow after the other. It didn't take long for shark's body to become more bloodied and brutalized as the girl had struck it, until it moved no longer. Letting out a few huffs after defeating the creature, the girl sighed at Damien's comment. Embarrassed, though not bashful, she simply, "please don't talk about it." With the rest of the group already moving towards the rock formation, Ryia followed swiftly behind, trying to catch up. As she moved there, she noticed the ripples in the sand that indicated the sharks movements once more. Trying to keep the path clear for both Gilly and Damien the girl simply called to her spirit, who manifested itself next to her.

With the Earth Spirit looking towards the ground, Ryia merely said, "draw it." The spirit nodded, generating a ring of rocks orbiting around itself before firing them off at the shifting sands. The rocks struck where the shark was, following with creating a line that lead away from Damien and towards Ryia herself. As the shark's attention was grabbed by this, the girl readied herself, her spirit merging back with her, before beginning to move to the side. Having been assailed straight on, either from above or underneath, before Ryia had decided to move herself to the side to avoid the sharks bite. As the shark launched itself out of the ground, it realized it was off its mark and twisted its mouth towards the girl, still trying to bite down on her.

Bashing the shield into the jaw of the shark, Ryia attempted to shove the creature away from her, though its weight and mass were far larger then she was able to shove. As such, the girl hastily stepped towards it, moving into the curve of the shark's body and avoiding the bite. However, while the shark had missed and landed onto the ground, it was far from over. Attempting to bite at her legs, the girl attempted to step away from the shark's bite though due to the awkward footing that she had from her maneuver and her overall lack of grace, Ryia ended up falling to the  ground, impacting on the sand. With the shark still coming at her, the girl raised her shield up and attempted to bash the shark's nose to stop its bite.

Being met with the Keres immediately after stepping out of the realm of shadows, Lindow arched an eyebrow and returned the girl's nod before turning and darting up the stairs of the gate. Though he was a tad surprised that she had made it this far before reptilian duo, he didn't have time to dwell on it.

Just before he reached the last few steps, Lindow crouched low and gathered his breath. With his heart rate steadied, the Thunder Chosen tightened his grip on the javelin he had been clutching, before suddenly springing up onto the top of the rock formation to join The Auran.

Locking onto his prey in an instant, Lindow announced his arrival by immediately sending the javelin flying towards other man whilst surging forward with the Bandit's Shield raised in front of him. Intent on using his natural speed to close the gap, Lindow's free hand lingered near his belt, and he would be ready to throw one of his daggers if the mage showed any signs of casting.

Out of the corner of Damien's eye he saw Ryia drawing one of the sharks towards her. The girl was laying on the ground with a shark making its way towards her. He saw as she struck the creature in the nose, momentarily stunning it, but it didn't seem that it would be enough to keep it from continuing.

He cursed and steered towards the girl and, when he arrived near her, dragged her back and helped her to her feet. "I'd stick around but...I think I should try and get up there while I can." Upon saying this he continued on. He called back towards Ryia, and, more specifically, Gilly. "I'm sure a couple of heroes can handle a little shark after all."

Though his progress was slowed as he neared the formation and realized one of the shark was circling the area right in front of the stairs. Hand on the hilt of his blade, Damien rolled his shoulders. "Suppose should've figured," he muttered.

The final shark who had been circling the formation finally broke from its path and headed towards Reinaan. The boy was making quite the scene, being dragged as he was, and it seemed the perfect food for the hungry predator.

Keres, taking a deep breath, made her way up the stairs slower than Lindow. Thus she got to the top after the man sent his javelin at the Auran mage.

She saw the man, tall, gaunt, and twitching, standing there. But it was what was behind him that really drew her gaze.

Twelve feet tall, upon an onyx pedestal comprised of three short steps, the Demon Gate sat. It had two stone pillars, spaced eight feet apart, jutting from its base. They shot out at an angle, pointing outward and then, several feet up, pointing the opposite direction. Resulting in what look like twin horns with their points angled at each other. In between the tips of these pillars was a clear globe, two feet in diameter, which had in it a faint swirl of various, dark, colors.

Looking upon it Keres could only think how unnatural it felt. And evil. Coming from the swamp, with its undead hordes, this shouldn't be a new feeling to the Water Mage. And yet, gazing at this, she knew this was something much more savage and twisted than those mindless husks.

She didn't have much time to look at it, however, before the Auran made his move.

"I didn't live this long by being slow!" He cackled and a flame rose from his feet and enveloped the javelin. It morphed, in front of him, into a shape that resembled a six foot tall, three-headed, dog that wrapped itself around him and settled at its side, a foot off the ground. "This is all they sent? A fake witch and a disabled boy?" He cackled again and pointed a long, thin, finger at Lindow. The dog surged forward towards the man. Letting loose a low roaring noise as it moved.

Keres removed the top of her flask entirely and pulled the contents, through her magic, out. A twisting column of water that hovered around her body. She wasn't able to respond to the attack but she would be ready to do battle with this mad mage.

[spoiler=OOC]Map

Okay so the map will now be split between two areas. The one on the right is the top of the rock formation, a flat surface, and the left is the rest.

Gilly could reach the rock formation if she kept going. And so could Reinaan if he can avoid the sharks.

After having delayed the onset of the shark's advance, Ryia soon found herself helped and hoisted up and away from the shark. As Damien made his note about catching up with the others, Ryia gave a nod to him and turned her attention back to the shark, attempting to keep it busy for Damien to get to pillar unimpeded. As such, the girl started to move backward, closer towards Gilly and Hob. As the shark dove back under the sand, it then made its way towards the Earth Chosen once more, only partially emerging from the sand in an attempt to bowl her over. As it made its approach, Ackrin used his power on the ground once more, causing the terrain to become less difficult to move along.

Stepping to the side, Ryia managed to avoid the shark's charge, though it had swiftly turned and leaped out from the sand, moving to bite at her again. Pivoting on her foot and smashing the shield against the side of the creature's face, Ryia had managed to avoid being chomped down upon. However, as she was still close to the side of the shark and it was still a weighty creature, the fins on the side of it had rammed into her instead, knocking her off her feet and onto the sand below. Catching her breath as she pulled her face out of the sand, the girl stood herself back up as she saw the shark dive back into the sand  once more.

The girl let out a sigh as an annoyed expression formed across her face, seeing the shark coming at her once more and knowing that there was a good possibility it was just going to knock her down once more. As it moved towards her, she noticed that it did not seem intent on emerging any time before getting towards her, and so she reasoned that it was going to try and shoot out from underneath her once again. Stepping back, she was correct in her assumption as the shark launched out of the ground, only biting at air, before the girl noticed an opportunity arise here. "Gilly, Hob, charge it!" Calling out to her two allies, with shield raised Ryia charged at the shark, slamming into it in an attempt to knock it down.

The evil bad guy bully was right in front of her. Gilly was ready to face him, to show him the true power of a halfling. After all, a guy like him was no match for her! She, whose awesomeness was enough that even a spirit thought she was amazing. Well, Snowy didn't seem to think that as much anymore, but she would change his mind!

"Gilly, Hob, charge it!"

Hob was running forward, but turned his head at hearing Ryia's cry. Gilly turned as well, and, without a second thought, turned her mount around. "Gilly is on the way!" she cried. After all, there were more bullies than just the big bad bully. And this was a chance to be a hero! The sheep charged at the shark, Gilly's ice spear out to stab at the thing as well. While the halfling's sloppy aiming would normally be an issue for Ryia, the ram took care to avoid both the spear and himself hitting the pink-haired girl.

From his position sliding across the desert sand, Reinaan could see the last of the sharks changing course towards him. Knowing how fast they were he'd need to move quickly to be able to do anything about it. The boy grabbed onto Kloqah's tail with one of his hands and began pulling, much to the mount's displeasure. She seemed to get what he was going for though and released his foot so he could more effectively pull himself up. However he barely had time to fully pull himself off the ground and cling the lizard's hind quarters before the shark was in line to attack. Given the angle it leaped out of the ground but without opening its mouth. It was in position to ram Kloqah and the boy knew she wouldn't be able to dodge the attack nor would he be able to knock it off its course. Instead he did what he could to ready himself and jumped from off her once again and onto the back half of the shark.

Kloqah took the impact and was toppled over while her small lizard wrestled with the shark. Her own efforts at this point were focused on getting up and getting to the rocks as she no longer wished to fight them. Reinaan meanwhile had gone to work with his flame claws, slashing at the tail fin of the shark as it wriggled and attempted to get back into the sand below. The boy merely hoped to impair its movements rather than have to full on fight this one. He just needed a window to get to the rock so he could focus on helping Keres with the mage. As he dug in his other hand and feet to hang onto the shark he continued clawing away at the tail. It managed to throw him off and slip back underground before the process was over but with the damage done to its main source of propulsion he hoped that would be enough to keep it off him. He turned to follow Kloqah toward the steps and took off at a run.

The boy wasn't able to catch his mount and as they moved closer to the rock formation the shark that had been circling the front of it turned to take action. It was locked onto Reinaan and was coming in to strike at his legs. The boy shifted his claws to a foot and then jumped in place, landing on top of the shark's head as it passed and driving the claws into it in the few moments he had before it dove back down again. Without so much as retracting his claws the boy continued running again toward the rock, not wanting to give the other injured shark time to catch up. But it was quick to see that this was already happening. Reinaan looked to the stairs and noticed Kloqah had made it to the rock though seemed to be struggling to move up them. Damien the swordsman had made it as well. With potentially two sharks closing in the Draken mustered his strength and sprinted with all he had and leaped toward the stairs, entirely unsure what sort of landing he would make.

The shark's jaws clamped down on nothing but air as Ryia moved out of the path of the creature. She slammed into it, the weight of her, plus her armor, not doing a whole lot to knock over the stone-skinned beast. Combined with Hob's hard head, however, the shark came crashing down with an ice spear sticking out of its side.

It landed on the ground, flailing about, threatening to knock over either of the Chosen. While it was still on the ground its body was solid and its teeth, were it to twist just so, would still be able to tear into Ryia or Hob's legs with ease. The beast flopped about so that its mouth was facing Gilly and Hob as it attempted to bite down on the fluffy mount.

Reinaan's mad dash, in the meantime, ended up with two sharks right on his tail. In fact one of them very nearly grabbed onto his tail. In fact it would have if not for Kloqah, barely able to twist around in the narrow, for her, path, grabbing onto the boy and tossing him onto the steps.

The two sharks, while they would have been able to reach Kloqah, seemed uninterested in her as they moved a slight distance away from the formation, close together, and began to go back and forth across the front of the staircase.

Damien, whom Reinaan had hoped would help him onto the stairs, was already rushing up them with hand on the hilt of his blade.

He emerged just in time to see the Auran's flaming Cerberus rush towards the Chosen of Thunder.

Keres's eyes had widened when she saw how quickly the man had summoned such large amount of flames. She glanced over to Lindow, expecting the nimble warrior to dodge, only to see him standing still. Perhaps having had used his magic too quickly and recklessly. She detached some of the water that was swirling around her and flung it towards the fire that approached him.

Only the flames seemed to powerful for the amount of water she was able to muster up. The attack slowed, slightly, but her water was swiftly evaporating.

Taking a deep breath the Water mage ran towards Lindow and tackled him with her thin frame into the ground as the Cerberus passed over them.

The Auran laughed. "They sent a Water mage who can't even create her own water? How desperate are they? Kukukuku!"

The Cerberus circled around and ended up above the two prone Chosen. Rolling off Lindow, Keres returned her water to her flask, realizing that it wouldn't be much protection and that she had to save it best she could.

As she got to her feet she saw the three heads of the Cerberus detach from the body, one towards her, one towards Lindow, and one behind the Auran.

The body of the beast formed into a large ball above them, swirling ominously.

"Looks like I almost missed the party." Damien muttered, crouching low, eyes only on the Auran, as he slid the blade out of its sheath a mere inch.

[spoiler=OOC]Okay so Lindow only barely got away that time but won't be so lucky next. Damien, Keres, and Lindow are now on the top of the formation. Reinaan is about halfway up the stairs.

Gilly cheered at seeing the shark go down. "The Great Gilly strikes again!" However, even knocked over, the shark didn't give up its attack, knocking into the halfling and throwing her backward. Landing with a "oof" on the sand, the girl was now out of reach of the shark's jaws, but not so Hob.

The sheep baa'd in panic and retreated backward so as not to get bitten. Thankfully, he avoided the attack, staring the shark straight in the eye for a second as the jaws clacked close on empty air. Then, as if in realization, he butted his head forward, straight at the shark's snout as the animal started to flop on the sand.

With the combined effort of Ryia and Hob, the duo had managed to shove the shark onto the ground. After they managed to keep the shark on the ground, it seemed more intent on attacking Hob, the latter of which managed to avoid getting chomped on and smashed its own head into the shark's. As the shark began to recover, going back to trying to chomp at Hob, Ryia moved closer, striking the shark in the face, smashing it away from the ram. Drawing the attention of it herself, the girl backpedaled away from the creature, avoiding the flailing creature only to charge back forward and smash it in the face with her mace once more. Stunned again, the shark had figured its chances were better if it had moved underground.

However, as it started to try and burrow underground, the girl remembered what she had done to the last shark and how effective it had been, and so she struck the shark in its gill. As she did, the shark's movements started to slow down, and so seeing the results of her attack, the girl continued to bash her mace into the side of the shark, smashing through its rocky skin and causing the blood to run from its side before the shark moved no longer. Swinging her mace through the air, trying to scatter some of the shark blood off of it, the girl nodded to Gilly and Hob saying, "thank you." Wiping the sweat off her brow, the girl looked to the pillar, only to see that two more sharks were gathered at its base. Sighing in dismay, the girl steeled herself, having Ackrin merge with her as she began her movement towards the pillar.

Reinaan groaned in pain as he collided with the stairs after his jump with some help from Kloqah. It took him a moment to just process the impact before attempting to stand. His flame claws had retracted at some point which was all for the better. He might still need them in the next few minutes. The boy saw his mount standing awkwardly on the steps. She seemed uninjured for the most part which set him at ease but only for a moment. This little stunt had been a very close call with the two sharks chasing him. The more he thought about the more his mind began to panic.

"Please tell me it's still there!" he cried as he scrambled for the tip of his tail. Relief flooded over him as his hands felt the tip rather than a bloody mess. So far so good. He was roughly in the middle of everything at this point. The unmoving Anis at their starting location aside, he saw the Earth and Ice duo moving his way while Water, Thunder and sword-boy had already moved up to engage the Auran. The two sharks that had nearly gotten a taste of Draken meat seemed to be the only ones left. The sharks could have attempted to reach Kloqah or himself yet seemed more interested in what went on in the sands. So if the other two were able to get past them and onto the formation it seemed likely they'd be safe. Reinaan hesitated a moment as he pondered which situation needed him more. Lindow was experienced fighting witches but would that be enough against this master of flames? And while they'd managed so far would Ryia and Gilly be able to go toe to fin with two sharks at once? His anger from being attacked by the flame spells was urging him on up the stairs but with this reprieve from danger his rational mind had a chance to win him over.

"The three of us arriving safely later is better than me rushing in now." he ultimately settled in his mind. Though he'd spent relatively little time with them he had to think of the other Chosen as his brethren back home. Hunts were successful only when the Draken banded together. Leaving any behind could get them killed. Reinaan went to Kloqah's side. His belongings were still mostly in place though tossed around from all the moving about. He still had the cross bow and bolts on hand and so he readied a shot and trained his eye on the fins moving through the sand. The first to move at his comrades would meet with a bolt to the back of the head.

Lindow quickly leaped up to his feet after feeling Keres's tiny body roll off his side. Seeing the fire mage's magic split apart, Lindow wasted no time in stepping between Keres and the incoming attack, causing both flaming maws to soon coming fly towards them.

"I'll go ahead and repay my debt now. " The Thunder Chosen's words prompted his shadow to suddenly surge from the ground to form a wall that curved defensively around the front the pair. Bracing the Bandit's Shield against the murky black surface, he grit his teeth as the two fiery hounds smashed into his hastily crafted defenses with loud crash.

Smoke billowed off the face of his shield, as Lindow was sent skidding backwards by the force of the attack. It was brief, but for moment he saw the flames struggling against the shadows before causing them to vanish, successfully weakening the torrent of fire that actually made it through to the Bandit Shield.

Quickly recovering from the impact, Lindow plucked the last javelin from the quiver on his back whilst shifting his gaze so that it locked on the Auran once again. Halting his momentum by suddenly pivoting to the side, the Thunder Chosen's entire body arched forward as he suddenly sent the javelin soaring through the air towards the fire mage.

"You know... I've never killed an Auran before." Lindow sneered through the harsh smokey air.

Seeing his projectile find it's mark, he raised his shield and dashed forward to further close the gap. Weary of the final flaming hound that still lingered near the mage, the witch hunter intended to send a dagger flying towards the his prey's neck whilst readying himself for evasive maneuvers.

"I'm quite interested in seeing what color you bleed..." Lindow cooed to garner the lion's share of mad man's attention, with hope that Damian or Keres would be able to take advantage.

"You know... I've never killed an Auran before."

The Auran clutched at his side where the javelin was sticking out. Though, oddly, he didn't seem to react much to it.

"I'm quite interested in seeing what color you bleed..."

"You never have...and you NEVER. WILL!" The man sounded more aware than before, the madness in his voice gone, and he clutched the shaft of the javelin. Immediately it went up in flames and disintegrated. He raises his hand to the sky and the magic around him swelled up. The orb atop the demon gate began to slowly swirl. Then, seemingly from the sun itself, a spiral of flames came rushing down. It twisted and split into a half dozen canine-shaped forms as they all came down towards Lindow.

"No you don't." Damien growled, from next to the Auran, as he drew his blade to slice the man in two.

"Stop!" Keres cried out, and, using her water, dragged the swordsman backwards.

"The hell?" He exclaimed as the water left him and returned to Keres. The mage merely pointed at the Auran.

Who was laughing. He grabbed his cloak and tore it from his body and they would all see what was underneath. Flames. Fire, covering his body, flickering hungrily.

"From the eternal sun I draw forth infernal flames. With my words I give my body to the fire. In order to bathe this land in flames and burn everything in its path. Outlawed magic, Self-Immolation, I call upon you."

The swirling mass of flames above them then moved, funneling into the man's body. Which, as they watched, burnt away into nothing while the flames grew.

Before long all that could be seen of the man was parts of his skeleton, surrounded by an unnatural flame.

The Fire Elemental let out a crackling hiss as it swept its arm at Damien. The man was struck by the flames and sent tumbling away and flames began to cover his body.

The creature now measured ten feet tall and the heat coming from it as it leaned towards Lindow was even more intense than the desert itself.

[spoiler=OOC]The true boss monster has appeared!

Didn't do anything for the sharks cause nothing happened yet but either Sethera or Skaia can include Reinaan's crossbow action in their post depending on what they do.
