[spoiler=Resilient Flower, Growing in the Desert]

Name: Hanae Hanazawa (Formerly Kana Saito)
Gender: Female
Age: 18
[spoiler=Appearance]

Large Image

Hanae is a rather tall woman, standing at 6 feet tall. Her body seems to be far more toned and ready for physical activity, likely due to her constant exercise, and she herself seems about as athletic as an action duelist. When it comes to outfits, the one thing the girl has retained from her time as a Saito is the uncanny need to dress in formal looking attire. As such, she tends to gravitate towards wearing ties, dress shirts/pants, etc. She also tends to wear her hat wherever she goes as well.

[spoiler=Personality]

Hanae is someone with an immense amount of pride. Being someone who always seeks to improve and become better than who she was moments ago, this has lead to a very competitive nature within her. She is very eager to prove herself and thus accepts challenges very readily. Likewise if she believes someone to be stronger than herself, then she will do her best in challenging them. She is, however, a very aggressive person. She has a relatively short temper and can go off fairly quick. This of course leads her to being very easily provoked into most challenges, tending not to take odds into consideration, if at all. She is also not that graceful of a loser. When she loses she is incredibly hard on herself about it, becoming far more brooding and angered during this time frame. In addition, she then becomes incredibly intent on defeating the person who beat her as means to prove her superiority.

Hanae, while having a short fuse, is not stupid. She is very aware of her short temper and knows that it tends to make her seem far less approachable than she would otherwise be. While not necessarily a nice person, she, like most humans, enjoy having other people around. While her social abilities are nowhere near top notch, as she does not talk with people outside of competitions often, she is still able to carry out a conversation well enough. While she's fine talking about most things, the one thing she either dodges or refuses to talk about all the time is where she was prior to the academy. Conversely, one thing she actually likes to discuss and has a liking for, outside of winning, is flowers.

[spoiler=Deck]

Predator Plants. You know, you bring out the plants and they're like "we're also part dinosaur lizard things" and they spread the predator counters, sorta, and then they fuse to make plants...and dragons. And maybe plant dragons? Who really knows.

[spoiler=Bio]

Hanae was a member of the prestigious Saito family, a family of people who have all excelled in their own respective field that lived outside of the Greater Domino Area. This, of course, meant that the expectations placed upon each child were enormous in size. Such was the case for Hanae. Growing up for Hanae was not easy. Born as Kana Saito, unlike the rest of her family, she was not naturally gifted in any particular field. She was like a normal person, but normal was not part of the Saito philosophy. And so, because she was always in the shadow of her siblings, her parents and other elders of the family had treated her far more poorly and punished her far more harshly. This kind of treatment then started cause an immense loathing and disgust towards her family, but also a goal. And that goal was simply to become better than them.

Over the next few years of Hanae's life, she grew fiercely competitive and far more aggressive. While there were things she could never hope to match her siblings in, little by little, with every bit of effort she put in, she felt like she could catch up to them. Then, she had found her true passion in dueling. While it wasn't something alien to her, when she played against anyone else, win or lose, she felt as though it were something she could truly work towards and become the best in. And so, putting far more effort into that than anything else, Hanae set her sights on becoming the best duelist in the world. With this resolve in mind, the girl started to produce more results, causing the favor of the family to become all the better for her, leaving her only more disgusted with them. Wanting to get her talents to the level that she would no longer need to rely on her family, the girl practiced all the harder in hopes that she would one day be recognized. This was, one day, answered by Taccoon's most prestigious academy.

Receiving a full scholarship to go there in recognition for the promise she displayed, the girl felt as though it were validation for her efforts. Not needing any sort of support from her family, the girl left and resolved that she would never have anything to do with them from then on. This of course, was met with its own set of complications as she was both legally unable to change her name and the university did not want to give up the prestige of the Saito name, the girl who was Kana eventually managed to convince them that while she was still Kana Saito officially, that they only ever address her as Hanae Hanazawa. With this compromise in place, the girl felt that she was finally turning over a new leaf, though this was not entirely true.

Going through Taccoon for the next few years of her life, Hanae was still the aggressively competitive girl she had always been. Never settling for second best, she seemed eager to always outshine her competition and climb to the top ranks of the academy. While she has not become the best student in the academy, she is still notably high up in ranks. Being on her last year, she works all the harder to make sure that she can end it at the top of her class.

This post exists for two announcements. First off, my first post in this thread (right below the OP) has been used and turned into a roster post! Please confirm that any information I've listed is accurate, and let me know if I missed anyone. Second, I'll be writing Hiromi out of the RP soon-ish. I'm just not feeling her in this RP's context anymore. Her replacement is below.

[spoiler=Steadfast Duelist]

WAeUMFL.jpg
"Not backing down is kinda what I do, so..."

Name: Raiko Musashibo-Ganjōna

Age: 21

Gender: Female

[spoiler=Appearance]yeptqUw.jpg
Height: 4'8"
Weight: 107 pounds

There are two traits that have long plagued the women of Raiko's family. A lack of height, and a lack of chesty bits. Raiko got the full brunt of both of these, with a small stature and a cutting board of a chest. Boasting long hair and bright eyes both of a chocolately brown color, Raiko's hair is generally tied back into a long, braided ponytail. Most of her clothes are notably frayed around the edges, and the cards in her deck are growing old as evidenced by the frayed edges and faded colors.

[spoiler=Personality]When one thinks of the things Raiko isn't, "pushover" will likely sit at the top of the list. When Raiko makes a decision, it takes more than some smooth talking or brute force to make her change her mind; Raiko has the distinct trait of being stubborn enough to have an argument with a literal brick wall and still win simply because she stood her ground until the wall gave in. That's not to say it's impossible to make her change her mind though; it's just really, really hard. She's willing to listen regardless, and will even alter her course of action if she's obligated to by some sort of deal or promise, but that doesn't mean her opinion will change in either case. Steadfast to a fault, she is.

Luckily, although she's stupidly stubborn, Raiko's at least a good person. She's the sort of person who would feed a stray dog or let a homeless person in her house to keep them out of the cold, then brew up some hot tea for them. Raiko isn't really a selfish person, although she can be pretty firmly set in her ways, and if she spots a person in need, she'll be sure to see what she can do for them. Ideally, she believes that doing good for others will cause them to do good for those they meet, the whole thing will spread, and the world will become a better place little by little. That's really all she wants; to leave the world as a better place than she entered it in.

To that end, even if her patience can be easily worn out, Raiko does her best to be a good listener and a vigilant defender. She's pretty sturdy, both physically and mentally, so she doesn't mind taking a hit or two for somebody else's sake. Of course, now and then, she'll have the wrong idea and act upon a misunderstanding. While most of the time, she acts slowly and deliberately, Raiko jumps to conclusions rather quickly, and forms an uneducated opinion that - being Raiko - won't change easily. If she's given the truth and it makes more sense, she's perfectly capable of realizing she was wrong and even apologizing if she's wronged anyone as a result, but try as she might, it's not a flaw of hers that's getting fixed anytime soon.

In tune with her typically slow and deliberate pace in life, when Raiko speaks, she does so confidently and with certainty, as if what she's said has already come to pass. She isn't one to phrase things delicately or elaborately, preferring to just tell it like it is, then take things from there. That being said, she's not stupid. While not a long-term planner, Raiko's pretty good at planning things for the short-term and reading people. She's generally an energetic, yet ever-alert, girl, who won't stand for people manipulating others or reckless violence. She'll give those sorts of people the same thing she'd give anyone trying to attack her: A lesson in self-defense and to not underestimate somebody based on their size.

[spoiler=Biography]Born in Hearthome, Raiko was the youngest of three, and a potential heir to the Musashibo Dojo of Steadfast Dueling. Aside from card games, the Musashibo Dojo taught its students self-defense, but what's a good kung fu story without a rival school? Also in Hearthome was the Ganjōna Dojo, also specializing in the ways of steadfast dueling, which involved standing one's ground and not relying on the likes of Action Cards to attain victory. The Musashibo and Ganjōna Dojos typically found themselves at odds with one another, and its heirs would often find themselves squaring off at tournaments both for dueling and for martial arts. The youngest Ganjōna heir - Katsu Ganjōna - was a particularly sturdy rival, perfect for Raiko to face off with time and again.

When the city of Hearthome descended into the month of rioting that saw the city ultimately ruined, the Musashibo and Ganjōna Dojos were once again at odds as each had different stances on the matters that led up to the riots. However, it was during this time that the rivalry between the two would come to a close. Over the course of the month, both the Musashibo and Ganjōna families were slowly but surely destroyed as each tried to keep some semblance of order on the streets, leaving just Raiko and Katsu. The two ultimately buried the hatchet after cooperating to save a group of people from a burning building; an incident that left Raiko with a broken leg and in Katsu's care.

When the dust had settled across Hearthome, things never were the same for the city again. However, both Raiko and Katsu were too stubborn to move anywhere else, and had several more encounters as each one tried to keep what little peace could still be kept. Ultimately, the two united as a couple, though working out who was to take whose family name was no small task. In the end, they decided to just both take both names. The Ganjōna dojo had been rebuilt by this time, and was now the Ganjōna-Musashibo Dojo of Steadfast Dueling. A dojo which, by now, even has two heirs.

As one of the dojo's two leaders, Raiko's worked hard to teach the people of Hearthome about how to defend themselves, and - at least in her part of town - has had a pretty big impact on warding off gang violence. With the Fortune Cup now closing in, Raiko plans to take the prize money and use it to see Hearthome restored to even a fraction of its former glory. She could live without leaving her husband and two kids in the giant slum of a city, but they're her family. Raiko knows they can take care of themselves.

[spoiler=Deck]Raiko's is a Superheavy Samurai deck. This archetype of primarily-EARTH Machine-Type monsters puts an emphasis on heavy defenses and the ability to pump out Synchro monsters that either deal with an opponent's Spell/Trap cards or offer ways to use the archetype's raw defensive power as an offensive tool. The deck's key cards share the trait of being able to attack with their DEF while in Defense Position, with the highest DEF in the archetype belonging to the archetype's ace monster, Superheavy Samurai Warlord Susanowo.

Another distinct trait of this archetype is that many of the monster effects do not work if the player has any Spell/Trap Cards in their graveyard. To compensate for this flaw, the monster effects typically aren't anything to scoff at, and some cards - namely Superheavy Samurai Thief and Susanowo - are capable of stealing opposing Spells/Traps, which lets player skirt around this restriction.

'takes one deep breath before posting this'

[spoiler=The Dark Magician's Youngest Brother]Name: Temkrin Serenado (Last name is taken after discovering that humans had them for certain settings.)
Gender: Male
Age: 24[spoiler=Physical Description]WO04gzr.png
Though he has no direct monster equal, Temkrin is a slightly younger member of the Dark Magician family and is the youngest brother of Gaia the Fierce Knight, Zalama the Buster Blader and Maho the Dark Magician. In the human world, he appears as depicted, though his staff is nowhere in sight...even though he could summon it to his side when needed. In the Spirit World, he has an outfit similar to the Dark Magician, but without the headpiece, allowing his waist-long hair to flow freely. It doeesn't look like he has that long of hair from front view is because most of his hair is actually held in a low ponytail. He's just slightly shorter than Maho is.

[spoiler=Personality]Temkrin is, above all else, energetic. He was the kid growing up that was almost literally bouncing around the house with all sorts of imaginative ideas and stories. Unlike his brothers, however, he didn't start showing signs of magical talent or physical prowess, causing him to often be overshadowed by them in regards to their parents' attention. Because of this, he never really developed the concept of 'you're supposed to respect those higher in rank than you'. For him, respect is to be earned instead of expected. Especially when alone, he has always been a fan of music...so, don't be surprised to see him shredding on a electric guitar in the future. In regards to the power he does have, gifted to him by the five elemental souls he now refers to as the Elemental Army, he is very cautious of using them and is a caring person towards the five, striving to be a better parent to them than his own were to him. He'd like to think that he was doing a decent job, but he's not sure.
While in the human world, however, he is naive and curious, but he's at least smart enough to pull someone he knows to the side and quietly ask about things before approaching. He's also nowhere near the best duelist in the world, due to knowing nothing about how the game works. He does have a deck and the monster souls within them are powerful...but his lack of skill makes the deck suck at the start. Because it is impossible to know exactly how someone will act and the tendency for unplanned traits to emerge, I'm ending it here with this: Let's see what more Temkrin becomes in due time...

[spoiler=Deck]~The Elemental Army~
Oddly enough, despite being of the Dark Magician family, he doesn't use a deck dedicated to them. Instead, his deck is centered around a group of seemingly Normal monsters he discovered during the times he wandered off on his own. Though the monster known as the "Voice of the Elemental Army", it unlocks the power of the other Normal Monsters to form powerful Avatars. However...despite the power of the individual cards, his difficulty with the game and with the ability to make the deck work well in a duel cause them to appear not as strong as they should be...

[spoiler=Custom Cards]https://forum.yugiohcardmaker.net/topic/361157-calling-forth-the-elemental-army/

[spoiler=Biography]The youngest of four siblings, Temkrin has always ended up growing up under the shadows of his three older brothers. Because of this, he found himself going on adventures and getting himself into trouble with his parents frequently. This was a frequent thing, even though a lot of the times he gets into trouble, he's instead trying to get his parents' praise instead. The feeling of being lower than his highly-praised brothers often got to him, creating a vicious cycle of always wanting to run from the pain of his family and being sent deeper into his parents' joint disapproval.

Despite this, on one of his little outings, Temkrin found a small group of abandoned, almost-infantile souls, specifically five of them. Feeling their untapped potential, he did his best with them despite knowing he wouldn't be able to take them home with him. After several months of building shelters for them five, feeding them when possible, playing with them, and even the occasional role of expending discipline, the five souls grew into distinguishable elemental forms.

Without realizing it, Temkrin developed a bond with these five in the same way one is formed between Duelists and their Duel Spirits...

[spoiler=Misc. Information]This character concept is actually a concept-in-scheming far older than this RP, and I mean years older, maybe even pushing a decade...for some messed-up reason, I kept envisioning a version of the Dark Magician dressed up like Eminem and rapping like the man, despite being still clearly identifiable as a Dark Magician. It's a miracle that the idea's still around even now, so I guess it's time for him to arise...
Yes, I made sure I had permission before starting this scheme in earnest!
Theme Song/Actual Voice: Sing for the Moment - Eminem

Could someone catch me up on what's happened so far?

Tournament Shenanigans:

Furiko vs Kyouji resulting in the former's loss as an exhibition match

Now in its later stages, Jet vs Kuria is going on

Meanwhile the Blank Card holders are all splitting up to see if they can find anyone suspicious that might be a wicked god user

Spirit World Shenanigans:

Everything was fine but then the Wicked Nation Attacked.

Daichi and not!Gajeel have their fated rematch

This guy named Aladjinn summons ignites and they go attack the magic citadel

By the way Aladjinn turns out be Wicked Eraser as he summons himself

Miero gets provoked by the Eraser and the two start dueling/fighting each other.

Current Status of the area:

So everyone is on the same page. I will do one final host post, which will come out sometime this week.

Chaos Sonic will then take over as new host while I'm gone, I don't know how long it will be, maybe a few months to a year, but until then, Chaos Sonic is the host.

I've given him detailed notes, so he knows what to do. Trust in him.

Bumping for reference, as well as to say the following.

Just for fun, I've gone around and surveyed the RP members (except Sai and Sonic since they actually know the outcome of things) of this fine RP regarding their predictions for the tournament currently going on. Skype logs detailing these predictions are below.

[spoiler=Faytl][22:26:20] Yui: what do you think the finals will look like? :)
[22:26:49] Faytl: I very much get the impression Furiko is being built up as the one to make it to the finals from her half
[22:27:12] Yui: and the other half?
[22:27:37] Faytl: It could be any of four
[22:28:02] Faytl: It's a toss up between Mokuba, Izayoi, Tycho and Blues
[22:28:23] Faytl: Though I think it's probably Mokuba, as he seems like the baddest dude out of all of them so far
[22:28:57] Faytl: nd Tycho dueling Furiko makes no sense, also, since they actually have pretty little interaction.
[22:29:08] Faytl: That's something I need to do better on; Tycho's a bit too lone wolf-y
[22:29:13] Yui: not to mention they're both blanks
[22:29:27] Faytl: He's had not a huge amount of interaction with the other guys, partially since he's split from them
[22:29:40] Faytl: I honestly think Imma have him come back into the fold soon
[22:29:41] Yui: if tycho and furiko dueled in the finals, unless one of them actually is a traitor working for the wickeds, it would mean the bad guy's been beaten
[22:29:48] Faytl: That too
[22:30:04] Faytl: I'm predicting Yugo to make it to the semis against Mokuba, and lose
[22:30:25] Faytl: With Blues and Tycho both losing to Mokuba
[22:30:38] Yui: I see
[22:30:48] Yui: any noteworthy predictions on the bottom half besides Furiko going to finals?
[22:31:29] Faytl: Is that a robot down there?
[22:31:39] Yui: looks that way
[22:32:40] Faytl: I dunno how the bottom half is gonna shape up beyond that; especially since that half has more characters I don't know as well.

[spoiler=Tesability][22:50:20] Yui: I've been deployed by myself as co-host of Forsaken Legends
[22:50:23] Yui: purely for shits and giggles
[22:50:32] Yui: to go around surveying erryone in the RP about their predictions for the tournament
[22:51:07] Tayla: So, what did you need me for?
[22:51:11] Yui: that
[22:51:16] Yui: the survey :)
[22:51:34] Yui: which brings me to the question: What are your predictions for this tournament?
[22:51:34] Tayla: I don't really have any predictions, honestly
[22:51:39] Yui: oh ._.
[22:51:48] Yui: not even as to who the finalists would end up being?
[22:52:01] Tayla: Sorry, but the moment I allowed Kuria to tank the first round, I haven't bothered with thinking about it
[22:52:09] Yui: that's ok
[22:52:27] Yui: I'd probably do the same tbh so I can't fault you for that ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
[22:52:40] Yui: guess I'll go survey the remaining folks then
[22:52:43] Yui: thank you~ (^_^)/

[spoiler=Skaia][22:44:48] Yui: hello tom (^_^)/
[22:44:57] Yui but he's average: hello yui
[22:45:12] Yui: I've been sent by sai (read: doing this purely for shits and giggles)
[22:45:21] Yui: to survey the FL crew on their predictions for the tournament
[22:45:35] Yui but he's average: ah
[22:45:42] Yui but he's average: like
[22:45:47] Yui but he's average: how detailed you want these predictions?
[22:45:52] Yui: as detailed as you want
[22:45:56] Yui: feel free to start with the big question:
[22:46:01] Yui: what will the finals look like?
[22:46:46] Yui: I can grab the roster for reference if you need it
[22:47:34] Yui but he's average: pls like I don't already have it up
[22:47:57] Yui: well I am always a step ahead of myself so I guess I shoulda seen that coming >w>;
[22:48:31] Yui but he's average: aiight well, it'll be a bit and
[22:48:37] Yui but he's average: it probably won't be very definite but I'll get it up
[22:48:41] Yui: okay
[22:48:53] Yui: I'll go survey either windy or tayla while you work on that :)
