~Citadel of Endymion~

"Thank you. We are forev---"

That's as far as Maho got in his thanks, before within the explosion in the front of the city. Daichi quickly whipped around with Haruto, only to be greeted with the appearance of a VERY familiar monster. A female mage, clothed in black ooze and wearing an eyepatch. Even with this sudden appearance shift, Daichi could recognize her.

"G-Gagaga Girl...Rinko..." Daichi muttered, his fists clenching. Though they grew tighter as out from behind Rinko stood Glaeris. That's his doing...I'll make him pay. On the bright side...he saved me the trouble of looking for him!

"Are you kidding me? You lot made it here to? You call yourself heroes and yet you killed on one of our altars to open a portal? You all amaze me with your hypocrisy."

Daichi looked at Glaeris, before shrugging and shaking his head. "You must be blind or something. We're all here and accounted for, no sacrificing needed." he said, before watching Aladjinn began to summon Igknights.

"Stop!"
"C'mon, we gotta stop them and save people!"

"Right behind you g-" Daichi said, preparing to run after the others, but he was suddenly grabbed by a tentacle. He looked back, only seeing Glaeris grinning like an idiot.

"You and Glaeris have a rematch to do."

Daichi and Haruto looked at each other, nodding before Haruto disappeared and returned to his card. Daichi quickly turned around and shouted. "I'll take care of this guy! You guys just stop the Igknights!" he said, before he was forcefully tossed upwards by Glaeris, landing on one of the Citadel roofs. As Daichi stood up and dusted himself off, he watched Glaeris passing through a portal.

The two Duelists immediately brandished their Duel Disks and activated them...but something immediately caught Daichi's eye. Action Cards materializing out of thin air. A wide smirk appeared on his face. You seeing this Haruto? he thought.

I do. Seems like we have him on our home turf after all. Haruto chuckled. Now...show him the true style of an Entertainment Duelist!

"You saved me the trouble of looking for you, Glaeris." Daichi smiled, drawing his five cards. "And what's more...seems the Spirit World is like an Action Field. Now I can show you what I can really do!" He smirked, before running off to his right, beginning his turn right off the bat. "I'll start off! And add this Action Card to my hand!" Daichi flipped and grabbed the Action Card, immediately adding it to his hand.

"Next! I activate Terraforming! With it, I add the Field Spell, Secret Village of the Spellcasters!" Daichi said, adding the declared card to his hand. "Next! I activate Foolish Burial, in which I send Gagaga Magician to the graveyard!"

Daichi quickly put in the graveyard one of the Gagaga Magicians from the deck and exhaled slightly. I don't have to worry about a battle royale this time...meaning I can specifically utilize my combination fully. he thought. "I'll end my turn with that."

~Fortune Cup~

"Alright! After such a stunning performance from our Duel King and the lucky Duelist Furiko, the first official match of the Fortune Cup can begin! Our first Duel is definitely a high speed one...both natives to Turbo City: it's Jet Hoshimi versus Kuria Bijorn!!"

At hearing the announcer say this, Jet revved his D-Wheel up and exited out into the main arena, driving up towards the starting line, seeing Kuria doing the same. As the two Turbo Duelists approached the starting line and stopped for the moment, Kuria turned towards Jet and gave him a smirk from under the helmet. “I believe you owe me one asskick, if I recall correct.”

Jet looked at Kuria, doing his best to keep his composure as he wanted to chuckle at this, but he refrained. After all, he was being studied by the doctor and the others. “You’d be right on that.” he simply nodded, flipping the visors in his helmet down. “I’ll win this time, Kuria.”

The two revved engines, waiting for the for the green light to show. "Here's to an amazing Duel! RIDING DUEL....ACCELERATION!!"

-BGM-

Once it did, both duelists raced off ahead. The two Duelists were neck and neck, matching each other’s speed. However, just before the curve to figure out who goes first, Kuria does something odd. He slowed down enough to break the tie and let Jet go first, but still be caught up with him.

Jet was surely surprised at this, as he looked back at his opponent. “What’s wrong?”

Kuria simply smirked. “I never did like going first, even in a Turbo duel. It’s more fun to come back from a slight behind.”

However, this meant that Jet was taking first turn. He was really hoping he didn’t have to, but nevertheless, he exhaled as he looked at his hand. “Very well then.” he said, preparing to grab one card from his hand. “I’ll summon Mermail - Abysspike in attack mode!”

Upon this, his merman appeared on the field, swimming in the air alongside Jet’s D-Wheel.

“Next, by his effect, I send Crystron Sulphafnir to the graveyard in order to add a Level 3 Water monster from deck to hand!” Jet said, sending his Crystron monster to the grave. “I choose to add Crystron Rion to my hand.”

He watched the card he declared slide out of his deck by help of the D-Wheel, as he quickly added it to hand. “I’ll end my turn here.”

~Kuria’s POV~

Kuria nodded to himself, seeing that, if he could swing now, he wouldn’t have to deal with crossfire, at least any he was aware of. As he looked down to double-tap the top of his deck on his D-Wheel’s touchscreen, he got a good look at his hand for the first time.

Uh, oh.

He hissed to himself, going through with the double-tap to draw. “Give me Clear World, at the least." he muttered to himself before tapping and selecting the command to play the card he just drew.

“Activating Pot of Greed,” he declared loudly enough for the crowd to hear, drawing his two cards...and breathing a silent sigh of relief. “And now, time to bring a shine to this arena! Activating Clear World!”

Just like the last time the two dueled, the arena seemed to shimmer before exploding into a flash of light. A large jewel, one scaled to a size fitting the place hung in the middle of the track, that shimmered various shades of blue as it release a light that seemed to pierce through any sort of visible darkness. Some people in the audience had already put on sunglasses at the mention of the name Clear World, as if they had seen the blinding effects of the field before. “Step 1: Check. Step 2: I summon Clear Whelp in DEF mode.”

At this, a small dragonling emerged beside him, showing greenish and transparent as it flew before fading to monochrome colors to signify his position. “Step 3: I activate Double Summon, letting me Normal Summon another monster this turn! Sorry, Whelp, but you gotta bow out.”

A minor whine escaped the little dragonling’s muzzle before Kuria grinned at it. It stopped its whine for a moment, then nodded with a grin on its muzzle before disappearing. “Since you have a monster in your control, I need tribute only Clear Whelp to Tribute Summon Clear Vicious Knight in ATK mode! Attack his Abysspike with Corrosion Slash!”

Not long as the crystal-shielded knight was summoned did it begin to stir, the crystal fading around it as it drew its sword. With great speed did it fly forward to slash through the aquatic being, a clean cut through the middle.

~Jet’s POV~

Jet cursed under his breath, seeing Kuria’s field in such a manner. The Knight on turn 1 for him, Clear World, as well as a face down. He had a good guess on what that face down was, but right now he just focused on this turn.

“My turn, I draw.”

Bringing his hand total to five, he looked through it. There was an out for this though, and he just drew it.

“Your hiding behind that clear as crystal field and that face down...” Jet said, grabbing one card. “However, I’m having a different plan on this. I activate the Spell, Twin Twisters! By discarding Citree, I can destroy two Spells or Traps you have!” he said, flashing a small smirk. Kuria was strangely grinning at the declaration, however, yet wasn’t saying a word yet. “Say goodbye to your Clear World field and your face down card!”

At his declaration, out of nowhere, two twisters made their way towards Kuria’s field. Both of them heading towards his Clear World and face down, respectively. The shattering of Clear World’s large jewel allowed the light levels of the area to return to normal, allowing many eyes to rest from it, but the other...upon the face-down card being raised to show what it was before its destruction, it was revealed to be a different card that Jet may have expected.

Battle of the Elements.

“I knew with that set-up, you were gonna burn at least one backboard destroyer,” Kuria stated simply, keeping his good mood for the time being.

So it wasn’t Attribute Chameleon, good to know. Jet thought, shaking his head. Still, I wasted it on a Trap that wasn’t even it.

He’d have to remember that for next time, however. Right now, he returned his focus on the Duel. “I activate One for One! I send Crystron Smiger to the grave and Special Summon Crystron Quon from the deck!” As he sent the Spell to the grave, Crystron Quon appeared on the field with a quick bow, as he floated besides Jet.

“Now, I activate Sulphafnir’s ability from the grave.” Jet said, quickly discarding Rion. “Now, I Special Summon him, and when he arrives...Quon will go to the grave!” Soon a golden dragon appeared, looking over at Quon who simply nodded before fading away into crystal dust.

“Next, Salvage is activated! I return Quon and Rion to my hand!” he said, taking the two cards from the grave back to his hand. “Finally, I use my normal summon and call forth Rion!” he said, watching Crystron Rion come to the field. “Now, I tune my Level 3 Rion with my Level 5 Sulphafnir!”

Both Rion and Sulphafnir nodded at one another before taking off to the skies, glowing as they began to synch with one another.

“I Synchro Summon! PSY Framelord Omega!” Jet shouted, watching as a strange humanoid looking creature on a strange vehicle device descended and rode beside him. “With him...I attack your Knight!”

Omega turned around swiftly before riding towards Kuria’s Clear Vicious Knight, before striking at him with its free hand.

~Kuria’s POV~

Kuria double-tapped the top of his deck, prompting the top card to be added to his hand, smirking at the small respite that came to him before tapping the lower-right corner to bring up a digital keyboard temporarily over the field on his screen. Looking at the upper left, he saw several passive signals. Tapping on that, he quickly worked to find the one that seemed linked to his opponent before typing up one hand a message to send via text-to-speech.

"Have you thought about what we discussed last duel?"

It was moments like this where he thought it was so very much worth all the funds he poured into this custom-built Duel Runner. To think it was once just a regular motorcycle, too.

"I activate One Day of Peace! We both get an extra card and neither of us can deal any damage until the end of your turn!" Drawing into another card, Kuria nodded to himself before continuing. "I also place Clear Cube in Defense Mode, then end my turn."

~Miero's POV~

“You were with someone else when we got here,” Lyall said to Miero, “… and now we’re greeted with this. Care to tell us what this is all about?”

Keeping his voice low, Miero turned his head slightly towards him, though his eyes and staff remain aimed at the fiery spirit to allow him to hear what else was going on around him. "I actually---"

"First you were stunned by Vântoase's appearance, now you dare to aim a weapon at me. Dear boy, I would not dare threaten those whom lay claim to your soul." Miero shot a confused look at the fiery pumpkin wielder for this statement. "Your father only partially fulfilled his contract, which now falls upon you to finish."

"...what...what contract," Miero hissed questioningly in an attempt not to raise his voice. "I've never heard of such a thing from him!"

"Not surprising, to be fair. There are many sins he wished not to share in the end in the hopes that things would die with him." The hand holding the reigns of the horse he rode let go before balling up into a fist and placing it in front of the pumpkin...from which came a coughing sound as if the clearing of throat was happening. "We Seance-Beckoned souls knew of the evil to come, and in exchange for the power to defend your...'Hearthome', he would aid us in taking out the evil that is the Wicked Gods. It was slow, but we finally stabilized your future weapon just before he sealed us away, which soon resulted in his death. It is now up to you to awaken it and defeat the Wicked Gods."

Miero was slowly seeing red overtaking his vision as the spirit in front of him spoke before the pumpkin gave him a wicked grin. "Unless, of course, you wish for your son to inherit the contract, instead, upon your own death."

"You bloody---"

A sudden boom echoed, causing Miero to suddenly drop his thoughts before turning towards the source, almost relieved to see the Horseman do the same with a worried look on the pumpkin's 'face'.

"Are you kidding me? You lot made it here to?"

"And so, your task now begins," he heard the Horseman say with a solemn tone.

"You call yourself heroes and yet you killed on one of our altars to open a portal? You all amaze me with your hypocrisy." This statement caused Miero to widen eyes before looking at Wade, Dread Knight and Phantom Falcon.

"Isn't it pathetic," another called out, to which he turned his vision towards. "I, the great Aladjinn, will erase their entire existence!" He held up his hands, a weird curved blade appeared in front of him, and he began to place cards on it. Instantly, a group of monster that could be recognized as the Igknights appeared. "Torch the place to the ground!" The monsters dashed off to different parts of the city.

A pained look emerged on the pumpkin as the Horseman's horse reared up at the monsters that suddenly appeared. "More than one of us need to appear, but only one of us can stand on our own power at a time."

Turning towards him once more, staff at the ready to fight, a growl left Miero's throat before he spoke. "Then how do you suppose the others emerge then?"

A small smirk appeared on the pumpkin. "We are Ritual spirits, after all...I would suggest Vantoase to take out any flames that ignite...and Moroii to catch up to your taken acquaintance."

"Huh?" Miero turned his entire self this time to see Daichi launched high into the air as a black tentacle began to leave visibility. "Daichi!"

"Only Moroi can fly and take you up there, but only Vantoase can put out the flames during her own flight."

A growl left his throat, baring fangs he did not have in the process as he closed his eyes to think, trying to reflect on what his father used to do in duels when summoning the Seance-Beckoned spirits...after a few moments, though, Miero finally reopened his eyes and held the staff with both hands high into the air by the middle.

...and as he spoke, it sounded to be projected yet not loud, a chorus of voices despite only having one.

"O mournful voice of creation!
Send unto me a creature of the abyss,
my thrall to command,
that I may smite mine enemies!
It is time for ye showed forth,
Come now, arrive with force!
Séance Beckoned - Vântoase!"

The three emeralds within the golden staff began to glow brighter and brighter as he chanted...then pain suddenly coursed through him as he felt something stir from within, almost falling forward as a female spirit appeared to separate from his body from above to land just in front of him. He felt almost as drained as when he first opened the deck with with these monsters within it, which disturbed the librarian.

"About time, it was getting quite stuffy in there." With a shake did he stand, ready to say something before she raised a transparent hand. "I heard all that happened. I will not allow this place to burn." Surrounding herself with a miniature hurricane, she rose into the air to better see and fly to any of the flames that may start.

"Th...that...how..."

"...it would seem that your body needs to grow used to these summons before we can be of better aid in this fight," the Horseman remarked before fading from view. "Now, take to the sky and aid your ally..."

Miero seemed more able to stand on his own again after the Horseman disappeared, though he did not feel good about what he would have to do to get up there. Just summoning one was an drain to him, so he steeled himself, ready to fall forward again now that he had an idea of what to expect and raised the staff once more.

"O mournful voice of creation!
Send unto me a creature of the abyss,
my thrall to command,
that I may smite mine enemies!
It is time for ye showed forth,
Now, allow thyself to fly!
Seance Beckoned - Moroi!"

Before Miero could fall forward this time, he felt arms ending in claws swoop in from behind him, grabbing him around the waist, to pick Miero up into the sky towards Daichi and his forced opponent.

As Furiko was boiling in her own frustrations, her thoughts were soon interrupted by a familiar voice. A voice that sent a slight chill down her spine as she looked behind her to see a familiar white haired figure. As the man spoke with malicious intent clearly behind his voice, the girl started to recall the real physical pain that she had felt that was caused by his monsters when last they dueled. While she had wanted to simply get away from the man, he continued to mock her, stating he'd defeat her if she even made it to the finals. Turning away from her, the look of fear in her eyes started to subside as the clenching of her fist relaxed. She had in no way forgotten what happened that day, and only grew frustrated thinking about how she had done against him as well. However, as of right now he was someone who she couldn't run from, especially not if she was going to face Kyouji again. And so she said, "don't worry, I'll make it to the finals." As she started to walk away from him, she turned to face him once more, a look that was a blend of determination and fury as she said,"and next time, Kyouji won't be able to save you either." With that, she made her way back to where everyone else was.

Furiko felt as though her head was a bit of a jumbled mess. Despite the confidence she displayed against the white haired man, she still had no idea where to start in her quest to become stronger. What did she need to become a King? Each and everyone before Kyouji, and even Kyouji himself, had a pure style of dueling that relied on nothing but pure strength and willpower in order to overcome the challenge before them. In a test of clashing pure power against power, Furiko had lost quite handily. Did that mean she just wasn't strong enough? Thinking on it more, she entered the room that all of the other Blank Card holders and allies had been. Upon entry, the girl from Taccon gave a smirk saying, "why welcome back champ."

Their eyes locking for a moment, Furiko couldn't quite understand what this girl was trying to do, but the blonde haired girl didn't seem to have any change in expression. Looking away, Furiko then stood around, watching the start of the duel between Kuria, the one she recognized that came with them, and some person named Jet. She didn't know much about either of them, but they seemed to be getting pretty heated early on, both already bringing out fairly large monsters. While she was curious to see where this would go, her attention was snapped back as Blues had told them to start looking for the people who were wielding the Wicked Gods here. With a slightly startled look at the mission assignment, Furiko quickly shook it off. In all of her own worries she had completely forgotten the reason they were even here in the first place. Right, the Wicked Gods were something that had to be stopped no matter what. Looking to Blues she nodded, saying, "Akaryuu Izayoi? Got it."And so, looking over and down to her partner, she gave a smile and said, "a pleasure to be working with you Aika. Let's go find us a god user." With that, she started to make her way out of the room.

Meanwhile, Hanae didn't really mind the partitioning of god hunters to go find their user. Instead, while she was busy watching the duel at hand, she didn't really care about any of it that was going on. There were only three that really mattered to her at this moment, and they were still a few rounds away regardless. As such, the girl simply sat, thinking about what she was going to do against any of those three. However, a thought did stick out to her, as she looked to the Blues, a wry smile across her face as she said, "so what boss man? Are you not going to join the troops on the front line?"

"Anyways, this is what's going to happen. The bracket information is in your duel disks. While Kuria duels, I want Furiko and Aika to investigate the man known as Akaryuu Izayoi. Eizar and Yuria will investigate Jay Nitsua, and Yugo, go look into Ao Mokuba. When we did a background check, all three of these people have absolutely no history to speak of, so they're likely candidates to be Wicked God wielders. Please, look into them. The rest of you are free to do as you please,"

Aika nodded. This was what she was here for. There were Wicked God users on the loose, and it was finally time to crack down on their activities. If they failed, well, things would probably get a whole lot worse than some missing people, wouldn't they? So it was just as simple as not failing.

"Akaryuu Izayoi? Got it. A pleasure to be working with you Aika. Let's go find us a god user."

"Likewise. Let's wrangle us up some Wicked Gods," Aika agreed. With that, just as Furiko was doing, the smaller Cradle duelist left the room alongside her partner. As the two left the room, there were two things on Aika's mind. One of them was Furiko's duel with the Duel King. On the one hand, she wanted to ask about it, but it could distract them from the job at hand. That and, although she wasn't trying to take the Duel King spot just yet, Aika did still want to go pro. Like it or not, Furiko was a rival in that regard. So instead, Aika opted to talk about the other thing on her mind.

"Akaryuu Izayoi, is it? I've only been round these parts for a few months, but I ain't ever heard a name like that. Are weird names like that normal for y'all city folk or somethin'?"

As Furiko and Aika had exited the room, the two started making their way to find the other of the contestants. Furiko hadn't really known Aika all that well, they had seen each other here and there as they both lived in cradle. She wasn't usually in the same tournaments as the girl and they seldom played against each other, though she had seen her name in the top rankings for other tournaments, so she knew she was at least skilled despite that. Continuing to walk, somewhat briefly in silence, the girl eventually had broken it by asking her about who they were looking for. Walking alongside side her, Furiko started to become more pensive muttering, "Akaryuu. Akaryuu. Akaryuu."Before finally coming to the conclusion of saying, "it's true, I've never heard a name like Akaryuu before. Izayoi isn't all that common a last name either." She then shrugged before looking back to Aika saying, "but, Cradle is a city with all sorts of people and places. Some with far more exotic names than others. So having an uncommon name isn't actually all that uncommon." After saying that, she then seemed to be more curious as she said, "but, I've never lived anywhere but there, so what's where you're from like Aika?"

Blues put Kuriboh down, sighing. "I am on the front lines. I'm being the distraction so that everyone else can work safely. They killed my father, they're likely after me as well," he reached into his pocket, pulling out Lee's old blank card and tossing it at Hanae. "This... Is yours now. That's what I was told," with that, he walked out of the room to head to the stadium.

Taking the card from the man, Hanae looked at it as he left the room. "What is this?" She had no clue why he had deemed her worthy of having a card with literally nothing on it, but she didn't really have the man to question before her. So, instead, she simply put it down before continuing to watch the duel. Tapping her foot restlessly, she continued to wait before looking to the furball that Blues had discarded earlier. With a slightly annoyed expression she said, "well, what are you looking at?" With that, she simply turned her attention back to the duel on the television at hand.

"I'll end my turn with that." Daichi called out. Glaeris grinned as he pulled out his card.

"My turn, draw!" he called out before looking at the card. "I summon Carrier of the Iron Dragon. When this card is Normal Summoned, I can Special Summon an Iron Dragon card from my hand! I Special Summon Warrior of the Iron Dragon!" He grinned wildly as he pointed his finger at Daichi. "Warrior of the Iron Dragon, attack him directly!"

Daichi looked down the Warrior of the Iron Dragon, but wasn't phased in the slightest. "Guess it's time to show him we mean business, Haruto!" he said, hearing Haruto agree.

No better time than the present, Dai.

"From my hand, I activate the Action Magic! Battle Lock!" Daichi smiled, watching as Warrior of the Iron Dragon was stopped in his tracks by the immediate constricting of chains that began to bind him. "This stops my opponent's monsters from conducting battle." Glaeris growled as his monsters were stopped.

"I set four cards facedown and end my turn,"

Meanwhile, Aladjinn noticed that Meiro was being carried to the area where Glaeris and Daichi was. ”Oh, you aren’t getting away so easily!” Aladjinn cackled as he pulled out a card. “Perfect. I’m tributing three of the five Igknights to summon The Wicked Eraser! Also known as… myself!”

The Rise of a God

He began to cackle loudly as he was engulfed by a dark aura. The clouds began to darken and lightning flashed in the sky as the winds picked up, fueling the already rampant fires. Aladjinn disappeared within the aura for a second… before a large creature that could only be described as a demonic Slifer began to fly out of the aura.. The monstrosity was enormous, its body wrapping around the city once… twice… three times over, and still was tall enough to tower over the Citadel's tallest building.

”Where do you think you’re going, little one?” Eraser roared mockingly before lashing out, its giant clawed hand wrapping around Moroi. He grinned sadistically as he gave the two a light squeeze before smashing his hand into the ground, pinning the two beneath his massive appendage. The God lowered his head, looking at his victims closely. “Well… I’ll be damned… you’re Malin Tammabukku’s father, aren’t you…?” He let out a massive laugh, one that seemed to shake the earth and cause lightning to flash.

”This is just too perfect,” he stated as he lowered his head, placing his large reptilian eye in front of Meiro, filling the human’s entire field of vision. ”Oh… yes. I can see the family resemblance,” The Wicked God grinned wildly. ”I bet you’re wondering how, I, the great Eraser, know the name of a pathetic human like your own boy. It’s simple. He intrigues me. When humans are normally sacrificed to us, they beg, they plead, they cry for their lives. Not your boy though. No… he was fully confident that you would save his life. The thought amused me so much,. I allowed him to live… to see if you would come,” He looked up towards where Glaeris and Daichi were dueling. ”Now that you’re here though… I can make your boy suffer,”

The God looked back to Meiro. ”I know you must be thinking that I’m going to kill your precious child… but no. That would be a waste. No. I will kill you in front of him. And then, as you die, you can die with the knowledge that your boy’s then broken spirit will become the perfect vessel. He will become my host and I will use his body to rain destruction on the world that wronged us so much!” he laughed as he let go of Meiro.

”Come on, pathetic human. Fight me! Don’t you want to save your boy?!” he roared as he began to gather dark energy into his mouth. ”Or do you WANT him to become the great Eraser’s host?!’

~Citadel of Endymion~

"I set four cards facedown and end my turn."

"Then it's my turn!" Daichi said, drawing for his turn, before watching Meiro trying to make it to them. Jeez...I told them I had this. he thought, about to shout to his ally, only to stop suddenly as Aladjinn literally changed into the Wicked Eraser. "H-Holy sheet!"

I...I agree... Haruto spoke as well, as they watched the Eraser talk with Meiro.

However, Daichi couldn't get distracted. He was face to face with Glaeris...and they had a Duel to continue. Right now, he surveyed his opponent's field. Four face-downs, Carrier...and Warrior of the Iron Dragon. he thought. With him having two monsters, I can attack one and leave the other for another. However...

The face-downs are a problem. Haruto chimed in. And remember, Village and Sanctuary only work on opponent's monsters attacking and effects as well as Spell Cards.

Meaning I'm at the mercy of his face-downs if they're traps. Daichi exhaled. He had a plan now... "Firstly! I activate my Spell, Gagagarevenge! With it, I'll bring my partner out from the grave! Come forth and take the spotlight, Gagaga Magician!"

At his command, Gagaga Magician (Haruto) emerged from the coffin that had been brought forth by Gagagarevenge. He crossed his arms a bit, before looking at Glaeris. "You'll pay for what you did to Daichi."

"Next! I activate Gagaga Child's ability!" Daichi smiled, watching as a small mage child holding an popsicle stood beside Gagaga Magician. "If I control a Gagaga monster, he's Special Summoned. Not only that, but I'll be changing his Level to match my magician!"

However, this next portion, Daichi was hesitant on doing. The card he looked down at was Gagaga Girl. His grip on the card became tight as he shook his head suddenly. Focus, Daichi! You'll save her...just beat him first! he thought. "Next, I summon another monster to the field to stand in the spotlight. Help Gagaga Magician out, Gagaga Girl!" On Gagaga Magician's other side, Gagaga Girl appeared, posing slightly as she stood beside the magician. "Now...I activate Gagaga Girl's abili-"

"I don't think so, boy." Glaeris immediately interjected, as one of his face-downs lifted up. "I activate Solemn Strike! By the lose of 1500 Life Points, I negate activation and destroy your Gagaga Girl!" With a laugh, a sudden bolt of lightning struck Gagaga Girl, causing her to scream out before being destroyed. "So sorry about your plan."

Glaeris' Life Points: 8000 -> 6500

Daichi began to grit his teeth. His original plan to summon Number 104: Masquerade was down the tubes now. "Unfortunately...due to Gagaga Child's effect, I can't conduct battle." he said, before going with his Main Phase 2. "However...I activate the Field Spell, Secret Village of the Spellcasters!" As he put the card into play, upon the tower roof, a small village in few large trees began to materialize around him and Glaeris.

"As long as I have a face-up Spellcaster on the field, and you don't, you can't activate any Spells." Daichi said. "I'll end my turn here."

-The Starry Experiment-
~Fortune Cup~

Jet drew his extra card from One Day of Peace and then drew his card for his turn. He let the message Kuria sent to him reverberate in his mind. With a sigh, he sent a rebuttal in the exact same manner.

“I have. However, given the situation I’m in, I’m currently at the mercy of my superiors. I’m sorry.”

After sending it, he looked at the three cards in his hand, sighing once more. However, he was caught off guard by the sudden response by Kuria.

"Kaiba Corp: Yes or No?"

Jet looked at Kuria, quite frankly floored at his guessing. But then again, he did mention it was a branch of a certain company. Not many out there have multiple branches. Reluctantly, Jet nodded slightly. He wished not to say much more after that, as he proceeded with his turn.

“I’ll attack your Clear Cube.” Jet said, watching Omega strike down the Clear Cube. “However, thanks to your One Day of Peace, you take no damage.”

“I also get another Clear Cube to the field in DEF mode, this time from the Deck. If it leaves the field for any reason, outside of being Tributed, I can summon another to the field.”

Jet nodded, watching Kuria call forth another Clear Cube. “Very well.” he said, before rounding the next turn. “I end.”

~Kuria’s POV~

Kuria nodded at the message, figuring as much before quickly typing in another line during Jet's turn.

"Kaiba Corp: Yes or No?"

And his mind decided to get colorful with his choice of language upon seeing Jet nod in response to the question, colorful enough to that I, the writer of this, am not putting it up here due to length alone. "I draw." Like before, he double-tapped the top of his deck to send the next card to his hand.

“I place Clear Phantom in DEF mode.” While the new monster summoned was also surrounded like many of his other monsters by the signature crystalline shield, this one seemed strangely frail compared to the others...more skeletal. “Since you have a monster summoned from the Extra Deck, I can special summon Clear Whelp from the Graveyard in DEF mode.”

Looking ahead at the opponent’s field, he sent one last message.

“I can’t just let you win...but getting you in the first duel makes me feel a bit more easy about it, should it happens. I mainly joined this to get another chance at talking with you about what’s happening.”

“Clear Whelp, Phantom, Cube, tag out and become one!” The three monsters shed their crystals before they came together above Kuria, paw, claw and mechanical hand joining together the three before they raised them high into the sky…

"Led by the Heart's Melody does she fly, as the brightest of stars in the day-lit sky! May thy song heal the wounds of the heart as it is heard! Synchro Summon! I call upon the Harmony of the Ancient Chorus! Ancient Pixie Dragon!"

...becoming rainbow colored dust that reshaped itself into a colorful form...that seemed to be dancing in place in the air as well as humming a tune as it flew alongside Kuria?

“...do you have another song stuck in your head,” he asked the creature as the last Clear Cube emerges upon the field in DEF mode.

He got a nod and a grin from the colorful dragon that now hummed to itself. A sigh escaped Kuria before he tapped another card in his hand. “I activate Clear World! Due to Ancient Pixie Dragon’s effect, I can draw another card upon said Field Spell’s resolution.”

And for the second time in the duel, all but Kuria was blinded by the light of the Field as he drew. “Now that a Field Spell is out, Ancient Pixie Dragon has another ability.” With this, he pointed towards with his still-living hand towards the PSY Framelord. “Ancient Pixie Dragon, destroy PSY Framelord Omega! Trail of Rainbows!”

With a flap of the wings, it flew up so that Clear World’s large crystal was behind it and PSY Framelord Omega was in front of it. Stretching out its wings, the yellow underwings began to glow before projecting a pair of rainbows aimed towards the Psychic monster, destroying it without battle. “Now, battle! Ancient Pixie Dragon! Attack direct with Melodic Enrapture!”

The song that was stuck in its head it began to perform for the audience as an entire chorus of energetic music could be heard despite only having one voice. All who heard it, in battle or not, could find themselves lost in the vocalized melody for the moment, though not a single proper word was spoken. The words that should have been heard were instead sounded as a pulse in the appropriate moments so the melody wasn’t lacking. Even after the attack stopped, the music could still be heard, but at a more muted volume.

Jet Hoshimi: 7300 ---> 5200

“A little too into that, weren’t you, ol’ girl,” Kuria chuckled at the monster before finding himself further ahead of his opponent. Because of this, he turned back towards Jet and shouted, “That was meant as an attack, but here’s hoping the melody cheered up your mood a few notes, too! I activate Pot of Avarice! The two Clear Cubes, Clear Vicious Knight, Clear Phantom and Clear Whelp return to my deck and I draw two more after the deck gets good and shuffled.” Upon drawing them did he look back and declare “Your go!”

~Jet’s POV~

Jet kept pressing on, putting everything into the D-Wheel, revving on ahead. “Firstly, before my turn, I activate PSY Framelord Omega’s ability. If it’s in the graveyard, I choose a monster and shuffle it and Omega back into the Deck! And I choose Abysspike!”

Swiftly, Jet took Omega and Abysspike and shuffled them into their appropriate decks, before finally drawing for his turn.

He exhaled, shaking his head slightly. Right now he needed THAT monster...and as he prepared to deal with it, he got another text-to-speech message...but this one not from Kuria.

“Summon the monster, Hoshimi. We need more data.”

Jet heard the message, looking up into the stands to see Dr. Aichi there watching intently. Sighing once more, he looked ahead. He had to win this Duel...and he was going to do it.

“I discard Crystron Prasiortle from hand to activate my Twin Twisters!” Jet said, before smirking. “However, rather than just targeting two Spells or Traps like normal...looks like I’ll just target your Clear World!”

Once more the twin twisters appeared and spun themselves towards Kuria’s field, heading straight for Clear World. There was no real difference compared to last time in how the light faded after the large gem shattered, the light faded back to normal and the eyes of many could see normally again.

“...doesn’t it hurt?” Kuria has asked this as he was subconsciously rolling his mechanical arm at the shoulder.

Jet was caught off guard by this response, looking at Kuria. “What do you mean?” he asked simply.

“Your last prelim Duel was before mine. I could see the pain you were in and saw what your arm was doing upon summoning...as well as how you were acting before it.”

A small sigh escaped Jet’s lips, before looking at his right arm. “It does. However, I’m a fighter...I have to pull through it.” he said, before grabbing another card. “I activate Soul Charge! At the price of 3000 Life Points, I call to the field from the graveyard, Sulphafnir, Citree, and Rion!”

Jet Hoshimi: 5200 -> 2200

At the heavy cost of his Life Points, Sulphafnir, Citree, and Rion returned to the field, flying close beside Jet and his D-Wheel.

“Here I go...” Jet exhaled slightly, before nodding at Sulphafnir and Rion. “I tune Rion with Sulphafnir once more!!” he said, watching them synching together.

“Your star lights up the escape route for me! Spread your wings and take flight! SYNCHRO SUMMON! Liberate me from this hell! STARDUST SPARK DRAGON!”

From once there was Sulphafnir and Rion, descended onto the battlefield the beautiful ivory dragon with sparkling stardust trailing behind it.

However, Jet felt his right forearm being in pain once more. The pain shooting up and down his arm once more, causing him to groan loudly some. Holding his arm, he kept on riding, shaking his head greatly. “F-Fight...fight through it...”

Kuria lost whatever joyful mood he was in upon seeing Jet doubled over in pain, in fact he was completely silent. His eyes were narrowed behind their goggles, and he sighed from the fact that he couldn’t do anything about it.

Jet finally regained feeling in his right arm some, before finally looking up at Stardust Spark. “So now you see him,” he said, looking over at Citree, who was now on top of Stardust Spark’s back, waving. If Jet was paying attention, he would have heard a single snicker from Kuria at the admittedly-goofy sight.

“Next I summon Crystron Prasiortle.” Jet said, watching his emerald turtle appear beside him. “Now, I tune Citree and Prasiortle!” he said, before seeing a new monster appear after the two Crystrons synched. “Enter the fray, Crystron Quandax!”

Jet looked at Kuria’s field and nodded. “Unfortunately I can’t attack this turn due to Soul Charge.” With a small sigh, Jet looked at Kuria. “I end my turn there.”

~Kuria’s POV~

Kuria lost whatever joyful mood he was in upon seeing Jet doubled over in pain, not unlike when the feedback from taking damage in a non-Turbo duel kicked him square in the right shoulder and in the left eye.

He wasn't sure whom wound up taking more pain, Jet for having to deal with it throughout the entire arm, or himself for having to fight off two fronts of pain.

That was one contest he hoped never came into play.

Kuria drew his card for the turn without even a single word before he looked up towards the large dragon, daring to look it in the eyes with his own. “I don’t know why you’re hurting him, but this won’t stand for long,” he muttered under his breath before looking down at the touchscreen, tapping twice on the image of the Stardust Spark Dragon to get a look at its effect. “...if I want to destroy it, I’m gonna have to bait it.”

Looking up towards the rainbow-causing dragon beside him, he gave a small smile before looking down and giving the silent commands to match his words. “I activate Charge of the Light Brigade! The top three of the deck go to the grave…” As he sent each one, he kept praying for the card he was hoping to see. Attribute Bomb, Gravity Collapse...and Kuria smirked upon seeing Clear Whelp hit the grave as well. “Good,” he muttered to himself once more before raising his voice again. Looking up towards the rainbow-causing dragon beside him, he gave a small smile before looking down and giving the silent commands to match his words. “I add Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter to my hand through the effect, then place 1 monster face-down in Defense!”

Upon a greyed out card appearing momentarily, a sad note cooed from Ancient Pixie Dragon, giving both Jet and Stardust Spark Dragon a sad look.

What was done to you was cruel, Jet would suddenly hear in his head, a feminine and large voice that tried to whisper just to sound more at a volume that would not threaten to shatter eardrums. If Jet turned to look into the Ancient Pixie’s pale-blue eyes, he would see her looking directly at him and into his eyes. I hope you find a way to break from your chains.

Jet thought he was going crazy. A sudden feminine voice was speaking in his head, and for some reason...it seemed to be from Ancient Pixie Dragon, at least what he thought. He quickly shook his head, trying to focus, but not before catching her nod slightly at him. N-Not sure what that was...but it can wait...

“Ancient Pixie Dragon, attack Crystron Quandrax with Melodic Enrapture!” Unlike the last time, the Ancient Pixie rose into the air before vocalizing further music, this taking a sorrowful tune. The target found itself teetering a bit before starting to cry out in sorrow, fading from view afterwards.

Jet Hoshimi: 2200 -> 1900

“Your go,” Kuria exclaimed. “Let’s see what you got!” As soon as he made the declaration, he sent off yet another message.

“Just what did the Kaiba family themselves really do to you...”

~Miero's POV~

”Where do you think you’re going, little one?” Miero only managed to turn his head enough to see a large monstrosity coming for them. Before he could think to urge Moroi to move to either side, the pair were grabbed out of the sky by a clawed hand large enough to wrap around the pair before slamming them hard into the ground. The librarian was hurting everywhere from that impact, in fact a small part of his mind wondered how he wasn't crushed, but a momentary release of pressure before it returned caused him to realize something. While Miero managed to survive impact, Moroi was destroyed upon it.

“Well… I’ll be damned… you’re Malin Tammabukku’s father, aren’t you…?” Miero looked up above him to see the godlike entity as He let out a massive laugh, one that seemed to shake the earth and cause lightning to flash. Upon registering the name, however, his breath hitched, stopping it for more than a few seconds.

"H...how...?"

”This is just too perfect,” he stated as he lowered his head, placing his large reptilian eye in front of Miero, filling the human’s entire field of vision, causing the man to want to pull his head back but couldn't due to being on solid ground.

"YOU LET MY SON GO, YOU WRETCHED WYRMLING," Miero bellowed at the top of his lungs, immediately regretting it upon feeling further pressure on him.

The God looked back to Miero. ”I know you must be thinking that I’m going to kill your precious child… but no. That would be a waste. No. I will kill you in front of him. And then, as you die, you can die with the knowledge that your boy’s then broken spirit will become the perfect vessel. He will become my host and I will use his body to rain destruction on the world that wronged us so much!” he laughed as he let go of Miero, whom gingerly tried to stand with the aid of his staff. Past him, however, he caught a glance of something that took all effort to successfully not react to.

How the hell did Moroi appear behind this guy? Wasn't he just now destroyed?"

”Come on, pathetic human. Fight me! Don’t you want to save your boy?!” he roared as he began to gather dark energy into his mouth. ”Or do you WANT him to become the great Eraser’s host?!’

A snarl became heard upon each exhale as Miero stared down the large monstrosity. Readying the staff he wielded, he studied the opponent carefully, trying to find any debilitating points that could be use to paralyze or immobilize this a$$hole before making him reveal where the child was.

"If we fight..." A sudden grin appeared on his face as adrenaline started masking the pain he was feeling. "It's on my terms." With that, Miero zipped forward, ready to stab this thing in a critical spot like an eye with the pointed end of the staff after spinning it around, even if he had to parkour his way up to those spots on this big thing's body. He didn't know how to play Duel Monsters anymore, but he was quite skilled with his staff.

Skill beats size, after all...

Sure enough, Blues had the blank card holders gather around and start investigating potential cultist suspects while the first real match of the tournament was underway. They were split into pairs... as evenly as possible of course, since there were only five of them present at the moment. But in any case, Yuria was eager to help apprehend the two cloaked goons that thought they could sneak in and start scheming a method of blowing the whole tournament over.

"While Kuria duels, I want Furiko and Aika to investigate the man known as Akaryuu Izayoi," this was a bit of a disappointment. Yuria and Furiko had never gotten to properly work together back in Turbo City, considering they'd split up right off the bat. But Yuria couldn't exactly complain.

"Yugo, go look into Ao Mokuba," ...well wasn't Yugo lucky(?); he had a cultist all to himself. Yuria waved to signify that she wished him luck nonetheless. However, she'd be in for a shock when she heard that there was a third person that Blues determined a background check was warranted for.

"Eizar and Yuria will investigate Jay Nitsua."

"Wait... who?!" Yuria queried aloud. That had to be the stupidest name she ever heard in her life. How he wasn't stopped and questioned for that alone, she didn't know...

"Yeah... I'm kinda lost as well," Palpigrad admitted. But Neobis, however...

"I like this Blues guy," the spider-like Duel Spirit stated in a smug tone, "Already anticipating that the two cloaked guys might've been thrown in purely to throw us off,"

"...if you say so, Neobis," that said, Yuria turned to the one guy who was left, who she presumed was Eizar, "C'mon, let's go see who this Jay guy even is..."

Hibiki sneered as Furiko walked away from him. "Please... You don't have what it takes, Furiko-chan," he said tauntingly as she neared the end of the hallway. "I'm making it to the finals... Maybe I'll see you there?" he catcalled as she rounded the corner. The second she was out of sight he strode down the hallway grimly, peering around the corner to watch her furtively.

Where are you going? What are you and Kyouji and all your little rat friends up to? he thought to himself.

After tailing her for a good bit, Hibiki found himself waiting outside a private room, a reserved space. And as Furiko came out of it with some other girl, he caught sight of a very prominent face through the doorway from his hiding spot: Blues Kaiba. Well now... She kept moving in ever-higher circles.

Hibiki kept behind the two, having donned the new helmet he had gained after breaking his old one, unrecognizable to Furiko now as he strolled along casually a dozen feet behind them, hands in the pockets of the thick green jacket he had bullied a patron into giving him. From the look in his eyes the man had seen his preliminary duels in Turbo before coming here. He had handed the jacket over without a fight.

Hibiki struggled to stave off crushing boredom as Furiko began making small talk with this "Aika." Who gave a damn, he though. The real interesting thing was the competitor they appeared to be looking for. Izayoi... Hibiki knew that name. Knew it well.

- - - - - - -

Tycho pushed his face in closer to the nervous-looking orderly he had cornered in a hallway. "I need to find these competitors," he stressed under his breath. "I want to... wish them luck for this tournament."

The orderly cleared his throat. "Well, um, that's very... sporting of you, Mr. Bosko, but I'm afraid I don't know where they are right now. They're likely somewhere in the arena, but your best bet is to wait till their match draws near and-"

Tycho slammed a hand into the wall with a crash, the orderly squeaking a bit in fright. "That's not good enough. I need-"

"Yo, old man! What are you doin' here all alone?"

Tycho turned slowly to stare down at Yugo, his turning body revealing the orderly, showing he was not as alone as Yugo thought. "Yugo, was it?" he asked irritably. "I'm busy. I- Hey!" The orderly had booked it, scurrying down the hall. Tycho reached out a hand, yelling "Come back!" As he did, the Duel Disk on the raised arm beeped loudly, a Message icon popping up on the screen.

"Don't you have somebody else to go bother? Or does Kaiba have nothing better to do than have you badger me?" Tycho asked savagely, opening the message to see a face labeled "Ao Mokuba." "What the hell is this?" he asked, scrolling down to the message at the bottom.

"I know you don't want to work with us, but if you want to find a Wicked God holder, Ao Mokuba might be one of them. Yugo will back you up."

-Blues

He swore, exiting the message. "Guess not," he sighed, glaring down at Yugo. "I guess you weren't there when I said this, but know now: I am not your friend, and I am not your ally. The fact that we're both against the Wicked Gods changes nothing." He turned to walk down the hallway, striding quickly with his long-legged steps. "If you want to look into this Mokuba character, just know I won't hesitate to mow you down to get to him if I have to." He reached an intersection in the corridors, looking down the hallway. "Where could he be..." he muttered to himself.

Turns out Eizar won't be able to watch the duels like he wanted to. Blues just gave the group an assignment to look into three suspects who apparently shouldn't exist in the first place, probably figured it made sense given the fact there were only two enrobed people in the bracket. He was putting his deck back into the box and turning to the person who was supposed. It was the girl he saw talking to herself back where this ordeal started. ‘Guess we were never properly introduced,’ the boy surmised with a raised eyebrow.

‘I'm sure we will be able to become friends after we find who we are looking for,’ another thought popped into his head. Yeah, they should focus more on finding Jet Nitsua and anything incriminating about him than anything else.

"C'mon, let's go see who this Jay guy even is..." The shorter girl stated. He tilted his head downward to meet her eye-to-eye for a split second, before stepping back and doing a bow that native Reffites tend to do when meeting new people.

“Happy to be of acquaintance, Yuria,” he began before standing upright once again. “The name is Eizar Lutio. I hope we get along well,” he finished. After Yuria's response, he made his way to the door, waiting for her there before continuing out into the hall.

As they walked he looked down to the duel disk, staring at the suspect's bracket image. “Shouldn't be too hard to find a guy in a getup like that,” he stated before looking back up. "So what's it like, being able to interact with them?"

"well, what are you looking at?" Kuriboh wasn't sure what the girl with the funny hat was talking about. It seemed obvious it was looking at her. It seemed he wasn't wanted here, so he flew outside the door and looked around. Where was everyone...? The human world was scary. He just wanted to go home. Soon, though, he spotted a walking banana tree talking to the weird man from earlier. It chirped happily as it went over to them.

As Yuria and Eizar walked through the area, they could see most competitors were sitting out in the open, watching the match. However, far away in a dark corner, was their target, Jay Nitsua. The immediate area around him seemed... darker, and the air was heavy. It felt like anything around him could cut them, although... he didn't feel dangerous, per say. More so trying too hard. As they got closer, they could hear him mumble to himself.

"He's the key. If we get rid of Akaryuu Izayoi... I can save the world... he's a real threat...,"

As Furiko and Aika walked down the hallways, they would see an open door. In this door was the hooded man they were targeting. It seemed the room was his own private room, which would mean he either paid for it, or someone thought he was important enough to have such a room. He was looking over the brackets while the match played over a TV.

"So, first I'll have to beat Mr. X... and then Jet or Kuria... Jet is interesting enough... Kuria is also interesting... but then I'd have to face him... it seems everything is falling into place. Hopefully, everything will turn out okay...,"

"Don't you have somebody else to go bother? Or does Kaiba have nothing better to do than have you badger me?" Tycho asked savagely.

"I mean, I could bother the princess, but you know, we have to save the world and stuff," Yugo responded calmly, holding his hands behind his head.

"What the hell is this?"

"A note. You should read it,"

Tycho swore, exiting the message.

"Okay, a few counter points there, Jack Atlas," Yugo commented. "One, 'the enemy of my enemy is my friend'. That kinda applies here. Second, we're both looking into Mokuba for the same reason, why would you have to mow me down to see him? What the heck would I do to stop you looking into him? Third, mow? Seriously? I know my hair looks like bananas, but it's not grass!!"

With an indignant huff, Yugo pointed towards the other end of the stadium. "I saw a hooded man that like the one in the picture. He's down that way though," As they walked down past everyone else, Yugo put his head behind his head and looked at Tycho. "So, what spooked you so much on the other side of the portal? You really came back a different man,"

At that moment, Kuriboh caught up to the two and sat in Tycho's hair. "Hey, it seems like it likes you," Yugo teased as he walked. Soon, the two found the man. His hood was down, but he simply flipped it up, not noticing the two there. They could catch a flash of black hair as he flipped up his hood, however. Yugo approached bravely, grinning. "So, hood dude. What's the deal with the hood? Isn't it hot in the middle of the day?"

Jet remained on course, hearing Kuria’s message. He didn’t respond right away, as he drew his card for his turn. However, finally he did reply.

“All I’ll say, is that the mark you saw...that’s part of it. Like I said before...I’m a guinea pig.”

Looking at the one card in his hand, he nodded. “I activate Salvage. I add two Water monsters with 1500 attack or lower to my hand.” he said, looking through his grave. “I add Citree and Rion to my hand. Then, I summon Crystron Citree to the field!” Once more, the goldish amber creature known as Citree appeared, this time riding atop of Parsiortle.

“Now, I tune Citree with Parsiortle.” Jet said, watching the two Crystron monsters prepare to Synchro Summon.

“Weaponized arm, descend and grant me your strength!! Synchro Summon! Come forth, Armory Arm!!"

Beside Jet and Stardust Spark, a huge robotic arm descended upon the battlefield. Without anything said, Armory Arm rocketed itself towards Stardust Spark who grabbed it and slammed it down on its right arm.

“Armory Arm is equipped to Stardust Spark. And with it, adds 1000 attack to him, bringing him up to 3500.” Jet said, before looking at Kuria and Ancient Pixie. “Battle. Stardust Spark! Attack Ancient Pixie Dragon with Sparking Cosmic!”

Ancient Pixie Dragon gave an audible ‘hmph!’ from indignation upon being declared an attack target. Normally, the Stardust Spark would not be able to make her move, but upon her eyes landing on the Armory Arm, melted away, replaced with a clear “OH, sheet!” look before being struck down and destroyed.

Kuria Bijorn: 7500 ---> 6100

“Now, by the effect of the equipped Armory Arm, if Stardust Spark destroyed a monster, it inflicts damage to you equal to your dragon’s attack!” Jet said, smirking slightly. “Now! Stardust Spark! Hit Kuria with the blowback! COMET PUNCH!!”

Kuria couldn’t help but cover his face with his mechanical arm as the dragon took a swing at him, a few seconds passing before remembering that he didn’t get the feedback issue he would have in a ground duel.

Kuria Bijorn: 6100 ---> 4000

“And with that...I’ll end my turn.” Jet said, exhaling heavily looking a little exasperated at this point.

~Kuria’s POV~

“...I draw.” Kuria drew the next card, immediately playing it. “I play Pot of Greed…”

The two cards he drew from it almost had him stopping his runner entirely, since his deck just handed him the way to win with two cards. Looking back up towards the Stardust Spark Dragon, the earlier feeling of having the choice of winning and making Jet go through potential increased pain or yielding on purpose to let Jet win and lessen the possible backlash for the seemingly soul-torn duelist magnifying.

“...and I have nothing I can do, your go.”

~Jet’s POV~

Jet looked at Kuria, who seemed very torn about something. Though to be honest, he was surprised the Duelist had literally nothing to play.

“I draw.” he said, drawing his card. “I summon Crystron Rion in attack mode.” Jet watched as Rion appeared beside him, crossing his arms as if he was being a badass. “However, Rion won’t be staying for long. I discard Crystron Rosenix and special summon Sulphafnir to the field, sending Rion to the grave.”

As quickly as Rion came to the field, he immediately left, making way for the golden dragon to make his appearance once more. Of course, it was Special Summoned in defense, which wasn’t helping Jet out any right now. To finish it now...he needed Sulphafnir in attack...

Jet exhaled slightly, still looking exasperated. Right now what stood in his way was the unknown facedown monster,...that was, IF he didn’t have Armory Arm on. “Stardust Spark! Attack the face-down with Sparkling Cosmic!” Stardust Spark Dragon let out a loud, deafening roar towards Kuria’s face-down card, revealing it to be Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter.

“And by Armory Arm’s ability, time for you to take 200 from Ryko’s attack! Stardust Spark! Deliver the blowback with Comet Pun---”[/font]

“Hold the phone on that recoil! Ryko has two things happen upon being flipped face-up!” Stardust Spark Dragon roared in response and tried to take a swing, trying to send the damage directly to Kuria before the hound's effect could follow through. “First, the hound tries a sneak attack against your Armory Arm! Then, the top three of my deck goes into the graveyard!”

Jet was astonished that this occurred like this, as he watched Ryko striking at Stardust Spark Dragon, rather Armory Arm, and watched as it was destroyed. It sent Stardust Spark’s attack plummeting back down to 2500. “T-Tch...I end my turn with that...” Jet heavily huffed.

Turn 11

~Kuria’s POV~

Gold Sarcophagus, Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter and Charge of the Light Brigade were sent to the grave by the original Ryko, causing him to click his tongue.

Shaking his head, Kuria looked down at what he drew before raising an eyebrow. “I activate One Day of Peace! Same boat as last time, we draw and can’t do damage to each other until the end of your next turn!”

I can’t make it look like I’m yielding on purpose, Kuria thought to himself as he turned the mechanical eye towards the man he saw Jet sitting with while keeping his actual eye ahead of him. Pretty sure I wouldn’t be the only one in trouble if I made it obvious. Drawing his card for the effect, both eyebrows wound up going up. Apparently, me and my deck have different ideas!

“I activate Pot of Greed! Now, let’s see…” Moving everything to where they needed to go, he took a deep breath and drew his cards…

Yeah, he knew his deck wanted to wreck Jet again after seeing what he drew.

“First, I activate Raigeki!”

Jet heard this declaration, before interjecting. “At this time, I activate Stardust Spark’s ability! I select it the target, and for this turn, he can’t be destroyed.” he said, watching Stardust Spark Dragon roar as bits of its shimmering stardust scales fell off it’s wings, making a makeshift barrier around it. “Stardust Chaff!” And with that, the Raigeki struck, destroying Sulphafnir. “Sulphafnir activates. I’m Special Summoning Crystron Citree in defense position”

According to plan, Kuria thought to himself on the action. “That’s not what I‘m seeing on my screen here. The effect only saves Stardust...once...per turn.” With a grin did he continue. “And you just used that ‘once’ with that.”

With this declaration, Kuria pulled up one card from his Graveyard. “Since Stardust Spark emerged from the Extra Deck, Clear Whelp makes another return!” When the little dragon emerged this time, it shot Kuria a look after seeing the big dragon still out. Kuria rose the still-living hand and beckoned it over a finger, prompting the little dragonling to float over before he pointed at a particular card on the screen.

Clear Whelp suddenly started beaming with a massive grin on its face. "And now...in comes one of the biggest jerk moves I can pull. I equip Attribute Mastery to Clear Whelp and declare the Attribute of Light.”

“Well...that’s a huge dick move...” Jet immediately messaged over to Kuria, to which Kuria couldn’t help but give a snort and a guilty look in response.

“Now...I can’t believe I’m actually making this command...Clear Whelp, attack Stardust Spark Dragon! Strike of Mastery!” The crystal that would surround some of his monsters finally began to appear around the Clear Whelp in addition to seven points of light surrounding it. Each point of light was the color of each different attribute, including Divine. The one representing Light stopped in front of Clear Whelp, between it and the larger dragon...before it zipped forward, claw striking through the light then right through the larger dragon.

The dragonling tuner couldn’t help but do itself a happy dance after the successful strike, actually glad that it got to destroy a monster for once. Giving it a ‘really?’ look, Kuria quickly sent another message towards Jet.

“Believe it or not, I can’t control how Clear Whelp acts...that is all it.”

“I’ll bet...”

“And now...for one more thing. I haven’t Normal Summoned anything yet.”
Looking towards Clear Whelp, he couldn’t help but give it a guilty look, which it caught. “Sorry, but I gotta cut your time in the spotlight again.” A whine escaped its muzzle as it slowly disappeared. “I tribute Clear Whelp...to Tribute Summon White-Horned Dragon!” A roar echoed as the dust that was once the little dragonling changed and became larger and redder. When fully manifested, a red dragon of decent size emerged, but both its claws...and its long single horn...were of a pristine white color. “You shouldn’t have been so eager to use your Spells, Jet, because I’m Banishing up to five of them...and for each one banished, White-Horned Dragon’s ATK becomes increased by 300 points each!”

There was only five legal targets for the dragon’s effect, the targets being the two Salvages, the two Twin Twisters and the Soul Charge, causing them all to leave the graveyard and allowing the dragon’s horn to glow brighter than usual.

White-Horned Dragon: 2200 ---> 3700 ATK

“Your go.”

So far, so good, Kuria thought to himself. Let’s see if you can overcome this trial…

He still wore a torn look on his face, though despite wanting to look neutral...

"Akaryuu. Akaryuu. Akaryuu. It's true, I've never heard a name like Akaryuu before. Izayoi isn't all that common a last name either. But, Cradle is a city with all sorts of people and places. Some with far more exotic names than others. So having an uncommon name isn't actually all that uncommon. But, I've never lived anywhere but there, so what's where you're from like Aika?"

"Hmm, where I come from..." Aika had to think for a moment of how best to describe her origins. If Furiko had been in the city her whole life, just saying "the sticks" might not cut it. City folk tended to have a weird perception of what life was like in those sorts of places, even if it wasn't entirely wrong. "Well, there's lotsa farming, fer one." That was a good start. Simple but also very true. "A lotta the fancy stuff y'all have here in the Greater Domino Area, we ain't got back home. Y'all ever read a comic book or somethin' an' the characters all go t'some lil' town way out in the country? It's kinda like that. We ain't got Solid Vision either, but out here in the city, even if I duel outside them Action Fields, buildins an' stuff still hold their own pretty well. One time, 'fore anyone knew what all was happenin' with me bein' a psychic, I dueled some kid down the street and everyone my side of town lost their roofs, and my family's livestock got blown all 'round town. But it's homey there, even though I ain't gonna start missin' it anytime soon."

And it wasn't much later that she and Furiko came across an open door. Peeking inside, Aika saw the very man she was sent to investigate! How convenient!

"So, first I'll have to beat Mr. X... and then Jet or Kuria... Jet is interesting enough... Kuria is also interesting... but then I'd have to face him... it seems everything is falling into place. Hopefully, everything will turn out okay..."

"He's totally suspicious," Aika whispered up to Furiko. "What're we gonna do? Waltz in and get chummy? Kidnap the guy an' interrogate him? This here esponi-age stuff's tricky." Perhaps it was because she was too caught up with the target being right in front of her, or simply because it wasn't really one she'd heard or said much up to this point in time, but Aika didn't realize her slip of the tongue. "Like, what'll he be able t'do if he's really carryin' a Wicked God and he don't like us?"

Helena couldn't believe the chaos that had suddenly broken out, she could already feel the headaches setting in. An attack on the citadel, screams of terror, it was like something out of a movie, and she was supposed to stop it. Buster Blader, Gaia, and Dark Magician each spread out over the city and the silent took a hold of Helena. "C'mon, we gotta stop them and save people!" Swordsman called out. Helena nodded and followed after the two, or rather they dragged her along. The Igknights were burning the place up, they looked like such a heroic archetype of monsters why were they helping these freaks?

"Hold on, I'll get some help out..." Helena said getting free of the Silents, she got out her duel disk and drew a few cards. "I guess there are no rules in a situation like this... I summon Genetic Woman and Psychic Snail!" When she placed down the cards, the monsters appeared beside her, rearing for battle. "Now I activate Burden of the Mighty and equip Psychic Sword to Genetic Woman!" Upon activation, an aura started emanating from Helena and a glowing green blade appeared in Genetic Woman's large claw. As Helena was about to send her monsters out, a loud roar echoed throughout the citadel. She looked up to see an enormous monster on the tower. "Agh... No... That can't be... A Wicked God!?" Helena's head was pounding harder and harder just from this monster's energy, it had to be a Wicked God, and it was looming over Meiro. "I... I have to help them... I have to help... So many people..." The glow under her eyepatch was glowing brighter and brighter.

"I gotta help him... Psychic Snail, Genetic Woman, help Silent Swordsman and Magician in the citadel, I got to help them fight that thing. Silent Magician here... Use it only if absolutely necessary, ok?" She said handing a Mirror Force to Silent Magician, after which she turned and ran towards the tower where the Wicked God was. "I hope Burden of the Mighty works on this thing..."

Furiko listened, quite curious as to what the lifestyle that Aika had grown up in was like. She had figured that Aika had come from somewhere out in the country, given her dialect and manner of speaking, but outside of that she wasn't sure what it was like. The idea of what the place was wasn't too far off from what she had been expecting, but what was surprising to her was that Aika was actually a psychic. In retrospect, it had made sense what with how there always a storm wherever she was playing, but it was still a bit surprising to here from the source nonetheless. While she enjoyed hearing about the place and might've talked to the girl more about it, their attention was taken by something else. Seeing that their target was in sight, mumbling something that clearly sounded suspicious. With her partner seeming to think the same thing, they were briefly stumped on what to do. Furiko had never actually done any sort of spy work before in her life, so she, quite like her partner (who she couldn't help but try to stifle a chuckle at her pronunciation of espionage,) wasn't exactly sure how to proceed. Aika had also brought up that they weren't even sure what the guy with the wicked god could even do. And since Aika was not even five feet tall and could destroy rooftops by accident, she was a bit wary to find out.

As such, the group had three options here. If they stayed and continued to just observe him in public, it would likely become obvious to Akaryuu anyway and they would end up being the suspicious ones to the rest of the public. As for the second one, Furiko wasn't exactly comfortable with just restraining a person and interrogating them. As such the only other option was to just talk with him. Looking back to her partner, Furiko whispered, "I suppose I'll just start a conversation with him. We're in public so it shouldn't be that bad if things go south." With that settled, she walked over to the robed figure saying, "oh, are you Akaryuu?" Looking as if she had realized that she hadn't given any context for her question, she then said, "sorry, I'm Furiko. I know we aren't in the same bracket of the tournament, but to get here you have to be pretty good regardless, meaning I'd probably see you in later tournaments. So why not get friendly now, right?"With a smile on her face she extended her hand out to have the robed figure shake it.

As Hanae had continued to watch the duel at hand, she was only mildly invested in it. Either player winning didn't make much of a difference to her, and while there was some back and forth going on, the only thing that really caught her attention was the Stardust Spark Dragon card. The monster Stardust Dragon was pretty well known, historical even, and it was something that was sort of commonplace in synchro decks. However, she had never actually heard of the Spark variant of it and was thus sort of curious about it. This curiosity was only driven further at the summon of Ancient Pixie Dragon, which had a similar sort of uniqueness to it, and so she had continued to watch the duel as it went on. However, she eventually realized something was missing from the room. Looking around, she saw that the furball was no longer around. Realizing that it was probably bad for some spirit thing to just be wandering around in a crowded area, the girl sighed as she figured she'd have to make sure it didn't get into any trouble. As she got up, she saw the blank card she had put down earlier, still curious by its existence but unable to just leave it be. As such, she put the card with the rest of her deck before leaving the room going to start wandering about in search of the creature.

“Happy to be of acquaintance, Yuria. The name is Eizar Lutio. I hope we get along well.”

"I hope so too, Eizar," Yuria stated in a polite enough tone.

...

Soon enough, Eizar and Yuria got going, looking around the place for their target. There was a whole range of contestants out in the main foyer. Yuria even managed to spot the one she was meant to battle in her upcoming match, somewhere in the distance. There was no sign of the target just yet however, but neither her nor Eizar would expect this guy to be out in the open. As Yuria kept looking around, it was about this time that Eizar popped the question.

"So what's it like, being able to interact with them?"

"The Duel Spirits?" Yuria asked for clarification, thinking about it for a second, and then coming up with her reply, "Well... it's cool and all, but... I'm just glad I'm not the only one who can do it. I actually thought that was the case before I met you guys; Daichi in particular. Then again, Hearthome was never a popular city, am I right?"

Yuria shrugged her shoulders. She never was keen on the subject of Hearthome, even if she was the one to bring it up in the first place. But before matters could be pressed...

"Found him," Yuria looked to where Palpigrad was looking as he said this, and there he was... one Jay Nitsua sitting in a dark corner, speaking ominously to himself far away from everyone else. Noting this, she immediately turned to Eizar.

"So... how did you want us to handle this?" she asked him out of curiosity, "Should we take the good cop bad cop approach or what?"

Of course, Yuria wouldn't mind Eizar taking point. She just needed to know what was happening.

Eizar kept shifting his attention from three image to the crowd while listening to Yuria's answer, letting out a hum of understanding. ‘She felt alienated due to her gift,’ he surmised. He was glad that she was able to find people like her but still felt a twinge of envy, which was embodied by a subtle sigh. ‘It'd be so cool to learn what monsters have to say, among other things.’

It was then that they saw their target, leaning against a wall with his arms crossed. Clad in nothing but black on black on black, with a black aura on top of all that black. Eizar would've been able to tell what the boy was mumbling, aside from the name ‘Akaryuu Izayoi’, if he wasn't distracted by something crawling on his skin. He swiftly flicked the bug off his forearm before turning his attention to 'Jay Nitsua’.

"So... how did you want us to handle this?” Yuria asked while looking her compatriot. “Should we take the good cop bad cop approach or what?"

Eizar, much to his surprise, was left with the decision of what to do. With that in mind he decided to take the only logical course of action: walk straight towards the edgelord with nary a care. Since Eizar was able to hear Jay mumbling to himself, odds are they were already within earshot of him anyway, so any plan they could have thought up would have most likely been shot down before takeoff. Instead of that happening, he choose to give the guy no chance to react. He then stopped in front of Jay Nitsua--undeterred by the pure concentrated edge in the air--, did the customary bow, and sincerely smiled a smile so bright that he could've guided Santa's sleigh that night.

“Hello there. My name is Eizar Lutio. What's yours?”

"Don't be naive, Yugo," Tycho snapped brusquely. "We're looking for Mokuba for entirely different reasons." He glared distrustingly at Yugo. "I intend to take the Wicked Gods and purge their influence from Hearthome... I'm not sure those are in the Kaiba kid's interest." He descended briefly into thought, voicing his musings aloud worriedly. "He and the Kaiba family have apparently known of the damage they can cause for some time... But they haven't sought to give aid to Hearthome to even soften the blow of the Wicked Gods."

He scowled. "We all just accepted that Kaiba wanted what was best... Who's to say we aren't his lackeys?" He looked down at Yugo, raising an eyebrow. "He could want the Wicked Gods for his own purposes. There's no shortage of members of the Kaiba family wanting powerful cards for their own gains," he went on, the image of a card bearing a pure-white dragon spinning through his mind. "My home needed the Kaibas... and they didn't come to their aid. That's enough for me to think suspiciously of anyone, particularly someone with as many resources as Blues."

As Yugo asked him about the portal, Tycho shuddered. "There are some things a man knows, Yugo. You don't get it yet, you're young. What I know," he began, pointing at himself. "What I know, is that Hearthome is what's important to me... It's my world, trying to make it a city where people can thrive and live out their dreams, but it's filled with gangs and violence and despair. It's the world to me... And I learned very suddenly that the world is so much bigger than my struggle." He clenched a fist, teeth gritted. "The Wicked Gods threaten everything, but... I can't help it, Yugo. It's not FAIR how unimportant this is to everyone else..." A tear rolled down Tycho's face as he came to a halt in the hallway, punching the wall in frustration. "I've worked too hard for this... You must know how it feels, right? To care so much for something to the point of giving yourself to it entirely... Look at your grandfather. Fudo Yusei."

He shook his head. "I'm no Fudo Yusei, Yugo. I'm one mere man without the ability to change the future no matter how hard I try." It was then he noticed Kuriboh. He momentarily jerked in surprise, but then he just slumped, sighing. "I can't get rid of you, can I?" he asked frustratedly. "Just... stay out of sight, alright?" he asked. The Kuriboh nodded, sliding down behind Tycho's broad back, nuzzling into it encouragingly. Tycho sighed, shocked out of his ardor as he looked to where Yugo was pointing out Mokuba.

He strode up behind Yugo, face switching into a flat, stern mask as he towered up behind the boy, looking down at Mokuba with narrowed eyes. "Compared to the competition he'll face here, the heat now is the least of his worries," he stated simply, extending a rigid hand to shake as he looked the figure up and down. "Tycho Bosko, Mr. Mokuba... Yugo and I wanted to wish you luck in the upcoming matches. I understand you're up against... Mr. Kaiba in the next match," he stated, a note of distaste creeping into his voice at the mention of Blues. "You'll need all the luck and skill you can get to take on an opponent of that caliber."

"oh, are you Akaryuu?" Looking as if she had realized that she hadn't given any context for her question, she then said, "sorry, I'm Furiko. “Ah, Furiko. Yes, I remember you,” the hooded man said kindly, grabbing her hand to shake it. “You took on Kyouji. It was a very good attempt, I must say. You have potential,” He looked over and nodded to Aika. “And you must Aika. I saw your face on the brackets. Now, what can a humble old man do for you?” He asked.

“Hello there. My name is Eizar Lutio. What's yours?” The man looked up.

“It’s Jay Nitsua. What do you want?”

"Compared to the competition he'll face here, the heat now is the least of his worries," Tycho stated simply, extending a rigid hand to shake as he looked the figure up and down. "Tycho Bosko, Mr. Mokuba... Yugo and I wanted to wish you luck in the upcoming matches. I understand you're up against... "You'll need all the luck and skill you can get to take on an opponent of that caliber."

The man simply laughed as he shook Tycho’s hand. “Oh, my dear man, you seem to be under the delusion that Mr. Kaiba poses a threat to me. Just being a CEO doesn’t automatically make him an amazing duelist, any more than having a D-Wheel makes you a good driver. Trust me. That child poses no threat to me. Now, what can I do for you fine gentlemen?”

“Can you stop being so creepy? Because it creeps me out,” Yugo stated.

“No promises,”

Alright, its my turn, Glaeris stated as he pulled his out his card. Now I summon Gagaga Girl in attack position! On the field appeared the female magician, however, instead of the cheerful girl Daichi was used to, the corrupted version appeared instead, glaring through her uncovered eye.

“Y-You’re summoning what?!” Daichi immediately exclaimed, before seeing the very monster that Glaeris said. Although, he was still floored and surprised by this. He looked at the changed Gagaga Girl and his fist began to clench tightly. “You...what did...” he muttered, before shouting towards his opponent. “WHAT THE HELL DID YOU DO TO HER?!”

“Daichi! Please calm down!” Haruto urged his Duelist to bring his temper down. It was still a Duel...they needed to have a level head.

All I did was let the Wicked Avatar devour her soul, and now she is a servant of the Wicked Gods, Glaeris smirked as he took a step forward, cupping his hand around her chin. That doesnt bother you, does it?He asked mockingly, licking Gagaga Girl’s cheek and placing a hand on her chest as he did.

Daichi began to grit his teeth, watching Glaeris do this to Gagaga Girl...no...to Rinko. “Leave...her ALONE!!”

Are you gonna make me? He asked. But hey, if you dont like it, then Ill just Make her vanish, with that, he took a step back. I activate the Spell Card, Level Equalizer! He said as he slapped the spell card on his duel disk. I can now choose a level, and every monster I control becomes that level! I choose level 4! He then chuckled as he stretched. Well, since I pissed you off, should I piss off the blowhard that zeroed my Life Points to? I overlay the three monsters to Xyz Summon! He had a sinister grin on his face as the three monsters went down the black hole.

Corrupted dragon of the virus, rise from your grave and do my bidding! Xyz Summon! Level 4, Evilswarm Ophion! The dragon roared as it clawed its way out of the ground. It was also covered in the same black vines as Gagaga Girl. And I hope you can remember Gagaga Girls effect. You really had a hard time remembering her, after all, Glaeris mocked.

Daichi glared at Glaeris, watching him mock him in such a manner. First with summoning Gagaga Girl, then using her to summon Lyall’s monster. His fist clenched tighter, before he took a few steps forwards. It was obvious he wasn’t thinking.

However, before Daichi could go much further, as Haruto stopped him dead in his tracks. “Haruto...Haruto move!” Daichi said quickly.

“Not like this, Dai...it isn’t right.” Haruto snapped. “Believe me...I want nothing more than to kick this bastard’s ass with my own hands...but it isn’t the right thing.”

Daichi began to grit his teeth more, slowly backing away as he returned his gaze to Glaeris. Haruto was right, unfortunately. They were in the middle of a Duel...he couldn’t just attack the Duelist like that. “...so I take it you're targeting the Magician for Gagaga Girl’s skill, then?”

“But of course. In order to end your little show, we need to get rid of your star performer, yes?” Glaeris asked as he pointed at Gagaga Magician. “Now let his attack points go down to zero!” Glaeris smirked as he watched Haruto’s attack points go down. “And now, Evilswarm Ophion attacks Gagaga Magician!”

Daichi and Haruto looked at each other, both nodding quickly. At this point Daichi ran around, frantically looking for an Action Card. The dragon was going to literally take out a hefty chunk of his Life Points and send Gagaga Magician back to the grave. Right now, he couldn’t afford to let this happen.

C’mon...c’mon! Where’s one?! Daichi thought, his eyes darting back and forth around this little field, before noticing one single Action Card on the ground near the edge of the roof of the tower. THERE! he smiled, diving for it, as he quickly turned around.

“Action Magic! Miracle!” Daichi declared, activating the card he just picked up. “I’m choosing my Gagaga Magician, so it won’t be destroyed...I’ll still take damage though, so guess you get a consolation prize...but even still, it’ll be halved!”

“You’d like to think that, wouldn’t you?” Glaeris stated."I activate my trap, DNA Surgery! I can choose a type, and every monster on the field becomes it! I choose Spellcaster! This lets me do this...," As Daichi had run off to grab his Action Card, the minion of the Wicked Gods had created a tentacle of darkness, it whipping out and grabbing a different Action Card. “Action Magic, No Action!” He called out. “This negates your Action Card!”

“N-No!” Daichi exclaimed, watching his Action Card literally end up being negated. He watched as Haruto braced himself as Ophion began its charge towards him.

The dragon chomped its jaws around Haruto, causing the spellcaster to explode into dust. “With that, I end my turn,” The girl with Glaeris simply chuckled. Obviously, the two of them didn’t think much of Daichi.

As Meiro began to parkour up the Wicked Eraser, Gaia and Buster Blader watched him do it.

”He’s crazy!” Gaia called out. He stood, whistling before jumping off his horse. Curse of Dragon flew down, swooping up Gaia on his back and flew him up towards to Meiro. ”Jump on!” he called out, just as Eraser noticed Helena running his way.

”You think a little spell can weaken a GOD?! he roared with a laugh before he fired off a beam at her.

Silent Magician took the Mirror Force in her hand before looking at Silent Swordsman. The two nodded, before throwing their right hand in the air, Silent Swordsman doing it more dramatically.

“Magic of the ages, fast forward the gears of time, and give us our full power!” The two shouted. Their hand began to glow, a glowing green clock symbol spinning forwards. The two began to grow, their equipment growing with them. Soon, the two had turned into Silent Swordsman LV7 and Silent Magician LV8. The two of them looked at each other and jumped in the way of the beam. The two swung their respective weapons at it and began to attempt to redirect it away from Helena.

Daichi at his Duel Disk after the attack. He had taken 2550 from Ophion’s attack, which dropped his Life Points down to 5450. Not only this, but because he had that Trap on the field, Glaeris was able to make his Secret Village Field Spell null and void.

Damn...things aren’t looking too well, Haruto. Daichi thought, looking at the now spectral version of Haruto who stood beside him.

I’ll have to agree. Haruto nodded, his gaze at Glaeris and the little girl who was with them. These two...they aren’t like how we fought them before…

Daichi removed his gaze from Haruto, back to Glaeris, who still gave him the smuggest look possible. “Yeah...well we can still win. I believe that!” he said, drawing his card. “It’s my turn! Draw!” Looking at his hand, Daichi knew he didn’t have much to work with. However, he had to do something in order to keep from losing.

“First, I activate Dark Eruption!” he said, activating a Spell Card from his hand. “With it, I add Gagaga Magician to my hand from the graveyard.” As he declared this, the Gagaga Magician card exited the graveyard slot and returned into his hand.

“Next! I summon Chocolate Magician Girl!” Daichi said, as a female magician in blue armor and wings appeared on the field. “By here ability, I discard one card in order to draw another card. I discard Gagaga Magician.” he quickly sent the one card to the graveyard once more before drawing his next card.

“Finally...I switch Gagaga Child to defense mode.” Daichi said, watching the young child monster switching to a kneeling position. There was only one other thing left he could do...find an Action Card. Daichi began to run once more, before noticing one at the very edge of the tower.

At a full force rush, Daichi ran towards the edge of the tower, eyeing Glaeris as he approached the card. If he doesn’t make the move...I’ll be fine! he thought, before finally grabbing the card...but at the same time lost his footing and began to head off the tower roof.

“C-CRAP!!” Daichi yelped, before seeing Chocolate Magician Girl appear beside him and quickly grabbing his hand, before flying him back up towards the Duel. “T-Thanks...” he said, catching his breath before ending his turn, looking at the Action Card he picked up: Battle Lock. W-What is up with me…? I never would’ve made a mistake like that...is Glaeris getting to me…?

Jet cursed under his breath, seeing him backed into a corner like this. He had been careless, and he knew it...at least in this Duel. He drew his card and looked at it and the card he drew from One Day of Peace. He was back to square one with a field, only Citree on the field. However…

“I activate from my hand, Mermail Abyssteus’ ability. By discarding a Water monster, it being Prasiortle, I can Special Summon it to the field.” he said, watching Abyssteus emerge beside him. “And by his effect, I add Abysspike to my hand.”

“Now, I tune Citree and Abyssteus together!” Jet said, watching the two monsters soar over his D-Wheel, before becoming one light.

“Born from the coldest reaches, a mighty beast descends! Fill the skies with your unending blizzard! Synchro Summon! Freeze those who dare to stand in your way...Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier!”

Down descended the three headed Trishula, roaring in unison as it entered the field, all three of its heads glaring down towards Kuria and White-Horned Dragon.

“I think you know what happens next.” Jet said. “When he’s Synchro Summoned, I banish 1 card from your hand, graveyard, and field!” Trishula seemed ready, as it eyed down Kuria and his field. “First target...White-Horned Dragon on the field!”

Kuria gave an attempt at a growl, though it sounded strangely half-hearted, when the dragon let out a pained roar upon being banished. “What area next, then?”

“Next, your graveyard. I’ll have Trishula banish your Clear Whelp.” Jet declared. “And then for your hand, I’ll select the one on your far left.”

Kuria appeared to be holding his breath on this one, before looking down at his hand and seeing what had been hit. Clear Vicious Knight. Kuria let out an audible sigh at this.

“Ice Barrier Formation...” Jet said, with a small sigh. “Unfortunately, your One Day of Peace prevents me from attacking and dealing damage. Otherwise...it would’ve been over right here. I’ll end my turn...”

Turn 13

~Kuria’s POV~

I shouldn’t win this, but I can’t just yield, Kuria thought to himself as he drew, not looking at what he drew in all honesty. How the hell am I gonna make him earn the victory without being obvious?

He looked down and rose an eyebrow at his drawn card. Maybe there was a way to keep the damned thing from hurting Jet for the rest of the duel…?

“I activate Monster Reborn,” Kuria declared. “I’m making a swipe at a monster in your graveyard instead of my own!” Looking down upon his options on his screen, Kuria made his choice before declaring, “In specific, I’m swiping Stardust Spark Dragon and placing ‘im in Defense Mode!”

“W-What?!” Jet exclaimed, shocked that Kuria would be snagging THAT monster.

However, the shock would not end there, for immediately after the dragon emerged upon Kuria’s side, it turned to face its current controller and let loose a roar of rage at him. Kuria suddenly let loose a cry of pain as he struggled to keep from crashing due to balling up onto himself. Both the nerves around his mechanical arm and eye joined the rest of him began to flare up in extreme amounts of pain, topping even what he would get from large amounts of damage in a ground duel.

Upon the pain taking an immediate rise in severity that hindered his ability to breathe momentarily, he couldn’t help but find himself most-definitely regretting the decision. Normally, it would be a good move, but this wasn’t normal.

In a messed-up way, Kuria got his answer to his earlier quandary, and so shouted at the very-top of his lungs, “JET, YOUR funking CARD IS CURSED!”

Jet was...legitimately surprised at what occurred. He had never seen this Synchro Monster ever do that before...then again, he never saw anyone ever try and summon his dragon after he did. Either way, he was dumbfounded.

“How the funk do you...this is...worse than taking...heavy damage in a ground duel,” he shouted before continuing. “Your...go---ACK!”

Kuria was certainly not looking where his runner was going, considering his eyes were closed and his forehead almost touching the metal and plastic of his ride...but miraculously, he was not coming close to swerving into anything or crashing, even still turning when he was supposed to.

After shaking his hand, the man seemed to recognize the girl. While she was a bit surprised at first, she realized it was probably obvious to anyone who had been here who she was. As he went on to compliment her performance, she waved her hand as if to dismiss the comment before saying, "thanks, but I clearly still have a ways to go." It wasn't as if she really had a chance to begin with. However, keeping the smile on her face she said, "but, I'm glad you enjoyed it all the same.As he went on to ask her what it was that she wanted to talk about, she said, "nothing much, like I said was just going around meeting all of the other competitors. However," she looked pensive for a moment, a bit confused by his comment of being an old man. "I don't think I've ever heard the name Akaryuu Izayoi before, or seen your face around anywhere." Well, it wasn't as though she was able to see his face now anyway. "So, I suppose you could say I was curious about you as well."

"I suppose I'll just start a conversation with him. We're in public so it shouldn't be that bad if things go south."

Aika nodded in response. That was a simple and straightforward plan, but it made a lot of sense the less Aika overanalyzed it. Guess it ain't so hard after all. Guess it ain't so tough to do some esponi...wait...I said it wrong. The realization had set in that Aika mispronounced a big word, like she were a kid or something. This was embarrassing, and it showed in the blushing on her face. I ain't a lil' kid anymore! I gotta watch for those kinda messups!

"Oh, are you Akaryuu? Sorry, I'm Furiko. I know we aren't in the same bracket of the tournament, but to get here you have to be pretty good regardless, meaning I'd probably see you in later tournaments. So why not get friendly now, right?"

Dangit she's already talkin' to the creep! Aika put her slip of the tongue behind her for now, redirecting her attention to the conversation Furiko and Akaryuu were having, making sure to stay hidden just in case he did something nasty and Aika had to go get help.

“Ah, Furiko. Yes, I remember you. You took on Kyouji. It was a very good attempt, I must say. You have potential.” And then... “And you must Aika.”

Crap he knew I was here! So much for a stealthy approach. As she had suspected, subtlety just wasn't Aika's style. She was more suited for going in guns blazing and causing some chaos. As she stepped into the man's room, feeling slightly defeated both by herself and by a self-proclaimed old man in a robe who asked what he could do for them, Furiko took the initiative to answer his question. And as Furiko had said, they were here because they were curious. Not just about his name or face though.

Bringing herself to a spot in front of the robed duelist, next to Furiko, Aika followed up on her partner's answer with a bold "Y'hear 'bout lotsa promisin' duelists even in local tournament circuits like in Cradle. An' frankly, yer name ain't easy to forget and we ain't never heard it before, so we were wonderin' how y'all snuck up into the brackets."

With a starting hand like this, assuming I'm going first, the optimal play would be...

Ayame was playing out, in her head, any number of potential opening hands her deck could produce, and how to best treat each one to ensure a strong start to her duel. Even if it was just Hanae, Ayame couldn't go easy on somebody, plus she hadn't dueled the girl in a couple of years. For all Ayame knew, her opponent-to-be was just as good a duelist as she was by now. After she figured out her ideal play, Ayame put her cards back into the deck compartment, before shuffling her deck and drawing a new hand to repeat the process. How does a person start the duel with three copies of Instant Fusion? And two traps? What am I even supposed to do with this? Figuring out the ideal play for that type of hand wasn't worth the effort. Ayame returned her cards to the deck, but just as she was about to shuffle them again, she spotted something.

Or rather, someone.

Well well well.

Out the corner of her eye, Ayame spotted a familiar figure. Short blonde hair, formal wear, cute little hat...it could only be Hanae Hanazawa. A smile on her face, Ayame picked up her pace to get closer to the girl. And once she was within arm's reach, Ayame brought her gloved left hand down on Hanae's shoulder. Not losing her confident smile for a second, Ayame said "It's been a while, flower girl."

~Jet’s POV~

Jet began to grit his teeth, looking at Kuria and the Stardust Spark Dragon on his field. This was going to be a difficult time for him now...while he did have the monster with the higher attack right now, Kuria was in possession of Spark. Which meant…

He can stop my attacks from destroying it. Jet thought, before shrugging. What else did he have to lose?

“Trishula shall attack Stardust Spark Dragon!” Jet declared, watching Trishula let out a loud three-fold roar towards Stardust Spark Dragon as he flew towards him. “Ice End!”

“I activate Stardust Spark’s eff---” Kuria was cut off mid-sentence, ending in a strangled cry as the attack connected with the monster. It survived, but it looked pissed at both duelists and Kuria looked to be in even more of a ball around his cybernetic arm and eye. He was also starting to swerve.

Jet looked at this and drive near Kuria. “Kuria...you alright?”

“...feed...feedback...has never...been this bad before…”

“Then...I’ll end my turn here.” Jet said, a little unnerved by this whole thing. What was going on? He never once had anything THIS bad with Stardust Spark.

~Kuria’s POV~

The pain’s not letting up, Kuria managed to think to himself before slowly raising his head.

The light of his mechanical eye was flickering and fast, even rendering him blind for fleeting moments as it would go momentarily offline from being overloaded. “I...draw…”

...I have enough...but Jet’s short a few cards in his grave.

“I place one card face...facedown...and end turn.”

~Miero's POV~

This man was seeing the world through shades of red.

As he jumped and climbed his way the side of the monstrosity attacking everything at random, he almost didn't register the pale dragon and its rider beside him.

”Jump on!” Gaia called out. Miero turned his head towards him slightly, though he kept continuing to climb, as he thought of what to do.

Two things would happen if he jumped onto the Dragon's back. One: He would get pulled away and be rendered unable to find his son. Two: He would be taken up towards where he could try for a knock-out shot.

...he couldn't take the chance of the former happening.

"This bastard has my son, and I will find out where he is," Miero snarled before continuing to climb and jump.
