Jet kept watching Kuria and he was feeling terrible. Was this how he looked every time he summoned Stardust Spark to the field? This...this was insane to him. And yet he fought through the pain. While Kuria, he seemed like he wasn’t even used to this type of pain yet.

I don’t want to attack again… Jet thought, looking at his current situation. But right now Trishula was best bet...

“Once more, I attack Stardust Spark with Trishula!” Jet said, watching Trishula rushing towards Stardust Spark Dragon yet again. “Ice End!”

“Stardust Spark...endures…I activate his effect...once again.” After the same result from the last battle repeated itself, Kuria stated with a heavy shake to his voice. “I’ve never had...augmentation shock this...bad before...and not...constantly either…”

Kuria struggled to look up before asking, his mechanical eye now dark. “How...do you...do it?”

Jet remained silent for a few moments. “I...I told you. I’m a fighter...always have been.” he said, looking in Kuria’s direction. “That’s all it is.”

“Then I’m glad...I’m not in...your war...no one should...have to deal with...this...”

“My turn ends.”

Turn 17

~Kuria’s POV~

Whom in the nine levels of funk makes a person go through this sheet, Kuria thought to himself before managing to look at Jet’s appearance overall. Hell, he’s probably a decade younger than me, my luck!

“I draw again…” After Kuria looked at the card he drew, one thought crossed his mind.

funk this.

“I sacrifice Stardust---” Unlike the other times, Kuria’s voice hit a blood-curdling scream of pain. In that split moment, the runner he was on suddenly swirled and spun out after he let go of the handle, Kuria crashing painfully against the ground with a resounding thud. He wasn’t moving, but he was at least breathing, even if it was hiccupped.

“OH! OH NO!” the MC quickly said, trying her best to keep calm. “Kuria Bijorn has just spun out and crashed! Send in the medical teams, stat!”

Jet, however, spun back around to see Kuria, dismounting his D-Wheel and rushing over towards the Duelist. He wasn’t exactly in a position to run towards anyone, given his lapse of pain during the summoning of Stardust Spark, but he did anyway. “Kuria...are you alright?” he asked, in a worried manner.

A muted groan left the older duelist’s throat. “You said...at one point...that you were owned,” Kuria questioned in with a strained voice. “As far I know...no one person...has...the legal right...to own another...” With that, Kuria collapsed, his left hand hitting the runner near the touchscreen that still showed his hand as well as what Kuria was trying to do.

His hand still showed both Clear Vice Dragon, Clear Sacrifice, Clear Vicious Knight, Clear Wall and The Transmigration Prophecy. On the field, it showed Clear Vicious Knight instead of Stardust Spark Dragon alongside an indicator pointing out the face-down card as Exchange of the Spirit.

Jet just knelt there beside him, only moments later being pushed gently aside as he watched the medics arriving and taking him out on a stretcher. However, the words he said really made him think this time. However, it wasn’t too long...as he felt a small lapse of pain from his right arm again. Holding it, Jet slowly stood up, seeing the screen above the arena say the results of the match…

Jet Hoshimi vs. Kuria Bijorn

Victor: Jet Hoshimi

But it didn’t exactly feel like a victory to him...especially seeing someone else experience what he had to.

"Interesting...very interesting..." Dr. Aichi spoke, slowly standing from his seat, before walking away. He immediately took his headset out and spoke. "Kana, my dear...please tell me you obtained the data from this duel."

"We did indeed, doctor. However, due to Hoshimi only having Stardust Spark for a small amount of time, we separated the data between the two Duelists."

"Perfect my dear." Dr. Aichi smiled, pulling up the sent data up on his tablet. "These readings are very exquisite...not only from Hoshimi, but from this Bijorn fellow as well. I'm surprised that he endured the pain that was inflicted upon him in such a manner." he said, chuckling lightly.

"Something funny, doctor?"

"Indeed there is, Kana." Dr. Aichi replied. "However, I'll be explaining that in more detail in due time. For now, file these data reports with the others and continue work on implementing the data."

"At once, Dr. Aichi."

Once clicking the button on his headset, Aichi quickly switched lines. "Send Jet to the waiting room. I need to talk with the good soldier...and look over his deck." he spoke, moving towards the waiting room they had, all with a smile along his face.

Tycho cocked an eyebrow, the corners of his mouth turning up slightly as Blues was lambasted by Ao. He couldn't help it. It was good to see even a stranger share his thoughts on the boy's efficacy. But his brow furrowed as he reminded himself: Mokuba could hold a Wicked God.

"Your confidence is inspiring, Mr. Mokuba," he found himself saying magnanimously, stretching out his arms to his sides in a welcoming gesture. "Even though he is a child, CEO of Kaibacorp at such a young age... and he of course has access to plenty of powerful cards. But perhaps you have some of your own, and the skills that landed you here. I wish you luck."

There it was; the spawn of an idea. He raised an arm, his Duel Disk glinting slightly in the light reflecting off it. "Perhaps you could give me a demonstration of your dueling prowess?" He smiled with what he hoped was a jovial expression. He made those rarely. "I know you're worried about showing off your skills too early but... you have no chance of dueling myself or Yugo here until the final rounds. How about a friendly bout of competition for then? Say whoever wins here earns rights to the first move if we both reach it?"

Yes, he thought fervently. I can trap him right here!

Jay posed a good question: what did they want with him? Eizar didn't really get anything out of the man’s mumbling aside from the name Akaryuu. Wait, wasn't he one of the other suspects? What would Jay want to do with him? Does he have a rendezvous with Akaryuu, or is he looking to defeat him? Eizar had to ask something quickly lest he were to lose Jay’s interest or worse. He decided to be straightforward, like the type of person Jay seemed to be.

“I heard you talking about Akaryuu. You happen to know anything about him? We're trying to find out whether or not he's somebody we should worry about.”

Meanwhile, as Eizar was taking point on the investigation, Yuria had been watching the live feed on her Duel Disk, observing keenly as the duel between Jet Hoshimi and Kuria Bijorn concluding, the former having taken the victory while the latter had to be taken by stretcher.

"That cheating jabroni!" Yuria couldn't help but yell out, "I hope the next guy claps the hell out of...(!) scratch that, maybe not..."

She'd caught herself, just as she remembered the next bracket that would be set. Akaryuu, one of the two hooded suspects, was up to duel next, and now that she thought of it, this... Mr. X, guy, wasn't something worth letting slip by either. It could be just a stage name or something and maybe the duelist himself would check out. But it was worth watching the duel regardless. They'd learn a lot more about Akaryuu's mannerisms and the way he dueled by being there than out here.

"Speaking of Akaryuu, it looks like his duel's up next," Yuria tore away from the screen for a moment, and looked up at Eizar and Jay, "The three of us should probably go watch it. Maybe we'll learn things about him that way... however small they might be..."

Hopefully Jay would comply, so that Yuria and Eizar could keep an eye on both of them. But she'd have to see...

After a long investigation, Neo Arcadia Movement's Cradle Division had deduced that the Van'Dalgyon that entered through the portal had come from a specific area with the Spirit Realm, although they'd yet to narrow down the exact location. Unable to wait any longer, Saori made preparations to enter the Spirit World, using the same portal that she attempted to use before, and emerged on the other side. Since she had no specific destination in mind, she wound up traversing the Spirit Realm with no human companion to speak of, but she did have her trusted El Shaddoll Construct at her side in case she were to come under attack from any angle at all.

It was as she was walking that Saori noticed a citadel up ahead, that looked as though it had taken severe damage. Figuring this may have been where it all started, she moved in to get a closer look, only to note that the citadel itself was still under attack. El Shaddoll Construct assumed a battle stance, however...

"Not yet," Saori held out a hand as she said this, "We need to know exactly what we're dealing with, here,"

With a face of determination, Saori proceeded forward, with El Shaddoll Construct following closely behind.

”You think a little spell can weaken a GOD?! The loud roar from the enormous creature made Helena cover her ears in pain. "Ow... So.... Loud..." She looked up in pain to see a massive attack coming from Eraser, she shut her eye in fear of the attack but when it didn't hit she looked up to see Silent Magician and Silent Swordsman in their leveled up forms blocking the attack. "No... Wait... Your going to get yourselves killed... Agh!" She could barely hang on to her mind, it felt like a sledgehammer was being smashed against her head. "I... Can't.... Take it.... AHHHHHHH!!!"

In a quick movement, Helena ripped her eyepatch off and a flash of green light sparked out. The glow was so intense that it looked like sparks were flying from Helena's eye. "I've... Had... Enough! All of you are so annoying!! Just shut up!!!" Helena shouted this at everyone but it was more directed at Eraser more than anyone. "Someone should put you in your place, you overgrown, ugly, lizard!!" The aura around Helena seemed to pulse and distort as she raised her hand into the air. "Time to finally put this to use, I overlay my level 4 Psychic Snail with my level 4 Genetic Woman!" Genetic Woman and Psychic Snail flew into the air as they became to glowing black orbs.

"I summon a warrior sealed by darkness. Rise from your dark prison and take vengeance upon those who would harm the innocent. I Xyz Summon, Paladin of the Dark Descent!"

The two black orbs collided into a massive black burst of energy forming a dark shadowy portal, a dark, clawed gauntlet slashed away the shadows revealing a black armored, pale skinned, feminine warrior with an eyepatch covering its left eye. In its hand it held a cracked, but strong looking shield and two overlay units circled around the sheath of its blade. It stared up at the massive creature with an unnervingly calm expression.

"Hey! All of you idiots listen! That lizard is still a duelist right now, when I banish that thing, hit him with everything you got!" Helena instructed, or rather ordered her allies. "And flyboy! Get Meiro out of their!" She called up to Gaia. "Now then... I activate the effect of Paladin of the Dark Descent! By using one overlay unit, I can target a monster on my opponent's side of the field and banish it, then we both take life point damage equal to half the current ATK of the banished monster!" Upon hearing its instruction, Paladin of the Dark Descent drew her dark silver blade from its sheath. An overlay unit flew into the sword causing it to ignite in a black flame. Paladin of the Dark Descent let out a loud battle cry as it swung its blade, sending a dark, flaming sword beam at Eraser.

Glaeris smirked before looking at the girl next to him, the one that hadn’t left his side since this duel began. This turn, he stated with a grin before draw his card. Without looking at it, he began his turn. I activate my spell card De-Xyz! He stated. Now I send Wicked Swarm Ophion back to the Extra Deck and summon the three monsters I used to summon it! He grinned as the three monsters reappeared. And now I tribute all three to summon my TRUE ACE MONSTER!

He raised the card over his head, the winds beginning to pick up with gale force, and the lightning intensified. With a cackle, he began to chant.

Come forth Wicked God of Might,
Ruler over both dark and light
Destroy my foe with your hellish fury,
my opponent frozen at your sight,
hath no power left to fight!
Now by my word i command thee rise!
Bring me victory in this blackest night!
Break free from your seal,
THE WICKED AVATAR!

 The girl next to him smirked as her body began to turn pure black. Her form kept changing until she was nothing but a giant sphere of darkness, one as large as a house. However, its attack didn’t have a value. It only had question marks. Glaeris simply folded his arms and smirked. Any last words?

Daichi stood there in both awe and shock, staring at the creature, the monster that was the Wicked Avatar. He looked at the Duel Disk and saw the Attack and Defense of the monster: question marks only. He could feel his heart racing...this was a Wicked God. This...THIS is what they were up against? Looking away from the Duel Disk, Daichi looked down at his hand. One regular card and one Action Card. Damn...and its effect keeps me from activating Spells until the 2nd turn after it’s summoned… he thought, gritting his teeth.

Well, if you have none, the Wicked Avatar attacks Chocolate Magician Girl! Glaeris stated. When it attacks one of your monsters, it gains its attack plus 100! He cackles as the Wicked Avatar began to morph. It soon became what looked like a black shadowy version of the Magician before it went to attack.

“I-I...I activate Chocolate Magician Girl’s effect!” Daichi said, quickly doing what he can to survive. “I choose a Spellcaster from my graveyard, Special Summon it and then your Avatar will attack it, but it’ll lose half of its attack!”

He looked through his graveyard and saw only two options: Gagaga Magician and Gagaga Girl. Gritting his teeth, Daichi finally spoke. “I choose Gagaga Magician. I Special Summon him from the graveyard in Defense Mode! Now he’s the attack target...” At this point, Gagaga Magician appeared and knelt down in front of Chocolate Magician Girl, graying out some.

Well, my attack might be redirected, but Avatar is no mere monster. No, Avatar is a GOD, so your attack halving has no power here. Her attack is still 100 more than your strongest monster, Chocolate Magician! So say goodbye to Gagaga Magician AGAIN! He stated with a cackle as Avatar smashed the fake wand it had into Gagaga Magician, destroying him again.

Daichi braced himself, watching Avatar strike down Gagaga Magician, seeing the monster shatter into pieces. Damn...is this...is this the strength of a God monster? he thought, seeing Haruto’s spectral form kneeling beside him. “I-I’m fine...don’t worry about me...”

Kind of hard not to with a situation like this Dai… Haruto admitted, sighing slightly.

And with that, I end my turn! Glaeris stated with a loud laugh.

"This bastard has my son, and I will find out where he is," Miero snarled. Gaia facepalmed at this before yelling.

"Get on the damned dragon so I can fly you up and we can stab it in the eye!!" He clarified. Eraser turned to look at Gaia before lazily swinging its massive tail at him, threatening to smash both him and Meiro. "Hurry the hell up!" Gaia snapped.

Eraser roared in annoyance as the beam hit him.
"Do you think I, the great Eraser, to be so weak?! I am a GOD. Your weak monsters don't affect me!" He roared. "And now, I PENDULUM SUMMON!" As he said this, a new wave of Igknights stormed the citadel. "Go! Kill them ALL!!"

Silent Magician and Swordsman were in shock of Helena's change of attitude. They never thought she could be so... like that. However, they put their shock aside to go attack the Igknights.

In another part of town, Dread Knight, Phantom Falcon, and Wade were all fighting Igknights in their own way. Dread Knight, riding on the back of Break Sword, simply kicked at any Igknight that came close before Break Sword broke them. Falcon simply watched as his Colossal Fighter pounded them all to dust, and Wade simply used guns he had brought, shooting anyone that got too close.

"Tch," Dread Knight muttered as he saw new Igknights take their place. "Frickin' Pendulum. And people hated Xyz...," Raising his hand in the sky, he began to chant. "Formed from pitch-black darkness, to fight those foolish enough to oppose it with its treacherous fangs! Now, descend! Xyz Summon! Rank 4! Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon!" The black dragon roared as it flew from the ground. It turned to the Igknight and began to attack, but before it connected, the dragon froze. It then flew away from the citadel as fast as it could. Dread Knight could only watch in confusion as it did. "Dark Rebellion...?"

Did the Gods scare even his mighty dragon?

"Nothing much, like I said was just going around meeting all of the other competitors. However," she looked pensive for a moment, to which Akaryuu tilted his head. "I don't think I've ever heard the name Akaryuu Izayoi before, or seen your face around anywhere." He chuckled a bit. It wasn't like she could see his face now. "So, I suppose you could say I was curious about you as well."

"Y'hear 'bout lotsa promisin' duelists even in local tournament circuits like in Cradle. An' frankly, yer name ain't easy to forget and we ain't never heard it before, so we were wonderin' how y'all snuck up into the brackets." Aika added. Akaryuu nodded a bit.

"I see what you mean. Well, truth be told, I'm from a... older time," He said. "Which is probably why you haven't heard of me. However, I got into these brackets because... my influence from the past allowed me to be entered automatically," he explained. He looked over to the TV, seeing a replay Stardust Spark Dragon and the effect it had on Kuria before the duel ended. "... It seems like it's my turn to duel," He walked past the two. "I'll see the both of you later," He walked outside, brushing past a redheaded boy.

"Ah, excuse me sir," The boy said. "Good luck on your duel!"

"Thank you... um...,"

"Roy's my name. I just wanted to wish all the competitors good luck," He said. Akaryuu nodded and walked off. Roy waved before looking into Akaryuu's room. "Oh, are you two also wishing everyone luck?" He asked cheerfully.

"Your confidence is inspiring, Mr. Mokuba," Tycho stated, stretching out his arms to his sides in a welcoming gesture. "Even though he is a child, CEO of Kaibacorp at such a young age... and he of course has access to plenty of powerful cards. But perhaps you have some of your own, and the skills that landed you here. I wish you luck." He raised an arm, his Duel Disk glinting slightly in the light reflecting off it.

"Oh, that sounds fun!" Yugo stated, grabbing his own disk. "C'mon, let's go!" Ao shook his head.

"As fun as your offer sounds," Ao stated, sounding genuinely disappointed. "We should watch this duel. Mr. Izayoi seems to be... a real threat, so we should use this time to study him," Yugo sighed.

"Is he that dangerous?" Yugo asked.

"He didn't duel his way to his spot. He was invited. That never happens. He's one to keep an eye on," Ao commented. "Now if you will excuse me," He said as he walked away to take a closer look.

“I heard you talking about Akaryuu. You happen to know anything about him? We're trying to find out whether or not he's somebody we should worry about.” Jay sighed to himself as he heard Eizar speak to him.

"Yes. He is a powerful duelist... and one that risks our future. I need to defeat him... I have to save the world...," He muttered.

"Speaking of Akaryuu, it looks like his duel's up next," Yuria tore away from the screen for a moment, and looked up at Eizar and Jay, "The three of us should probably go watch it. Maybe we'll learn things about him that way... however small they might be..." Jay shook his head.

"I will watch it, but I will watch it alone. I'm afraid my tragic life will affect the two of you in a horrible way...," He muttered over-dramatically.

Mr. X drove up in a D-Wheel that looked like a sleek sliver bullet, compared to Akaryuu's old junky and rusty D-Wheel. Mr. X grinned. "Well, well, defeating you will be easy," He stated with a roar of laughter. Akaryuu remained quiet, focusing on the road ahead.

"Are you ready everyone?" Juri Li called out. "Riding Duel... ACCELERATION!" The two took off, the tire squeals filling the air. Mr. X was an obviously skilled driver, but despite his D Wheel's obvious better specs, Akaryuu kept pace with him. They got to the first turn... only for Akaryuu to purposely and obviously slow down, allowing Mr. X to go first.

"The first turn is mine!" Mr. X called out before looking at his hand. "I summon Meklord Army of Wisel!" (ATK:1800) A small white robot with red eyes appeared on the field, folding its arms. "I then set two cards facedown and end my turn!"

~Citadel of Endymion~

Daichi slowly brought his hand to his deck, preparing to draw, but he saw that his hand was shaking. It was obvious at this point: he was afraid. This had never happened before to him...and this was true fear and he knew it. "I draw..."

The card he drew was Soul Charge. A Spell Card. Sure it would've helped him at the cost of his Battle Phase, but right now, it was useless. Both cards in his hand, as well as the Action Card were Spells. And with the Wicked Avatar out on the field, he wouldn't be able to activate ANY Spells until next turn...

"I-I...." He only knew to do one thing...he needed to keep his defense up. "I switch Chocolate Magician Girl from attack to defense..." Daichi watched as Chocolate Magician Girl took a kneeling position and greyed out as well. Right now he felt like was probably failing. Out of all the Duels he's had before...this one right here...this was the one where his opponent was getting in his head.

"I end my turn..."

As the man seemed to state that he was from a different time of dueling, that only made Furiko more curious as to who he actually was. Furthermore, the man didn't seem to actually get in due to his own merit, more so just from some connections that he had had from the past. The only person with the influence to do that, that Furiko was immediately aware of at least, was Blues himself. Things started to make less sense about the hooded man as time went on, but she felt that they had gotten a good bit of information regardless. As the duel between Jet and Kuria ended Akaryuu was up and next and thus, decided to go off. Giving a wave, Furiko cordially said, "I wish you luck in your duel."

As she did, a familiar looking red head boy had seen the man off before turning to them. As he asked if they were here to wish the other contestants luck, Furiko couldn't help but smile a bit as she said, "well, it turned out that way." Looking at him further, curious about the boy, she then snapped her fingers in realization as she said, "oh right. You're Roy, right? In the brackets just a few matches past mine? A pleasure to meet you." Extending out a hand to shake the newcomer she then asked, "so, were you going around and meeting the other contestants too?"

The blonde haired girl continued to search for the little hairball, unsure of where it could've gone off to. As she continued to look to no avail, her train of thought was interrupted as she felt a hand come down onto her shoulder. Irritation going through her expression, the girl turned around quickly only to see who the hand belonged to. Her expression both soured and became more confused as she saw who was talking to her, registering at about the same time she heard the words "flower girl." "Iwaki-senpai." Brushing the girl's hand off, she then turned around fully to face her senior in dueling. "Well, I guess I shouldn't be surprised to see you here." After offhandedly stating that, she then wryly asked, "so, nothing broken this time around?"

~Miero's POV~

"Get on the damned dragon so I can fly you up and we can stab it in the eye!!"

An eerie smile began to form at the second half of this suggestion, the image of doing just so with the pointed end of his staff entering his thoughts.

"That's an idea I can---whoa!" Even though he was still on the Eraser, he still had to hold on to avoid being blown back by the gust of wind that came from the swing of the giant monster's tail.

"Hurry the hell up!"

"Alright, alright!" Throwing the staff over first to Gaia to free his hand, Miero took a couple of seconds to ready himself before crossing over from one monster to another. Not long after settling on the back of the Curse of Dragon, however, he heard something that made him snarl upon reclaiming the staff, gripping it tightly.

"And flyboy! Get Miero out of there!"

"That little---" Out of the corner of his eye, he caught sight of something else emerging near Daichi, catching sight of a pitch-black orb. "What kind of monster is that?"

Call the Horseman.

Miero jolted before looking the other way, wondering if he was really hearing things at the moment. However, hearing sh!t or not, it was indeed worth trying the suggestion...even if he did seem to risk passing out. Holding the staff to one side to avoid poking himself, Gaia or the dragon mount with the bottom tip, Miero began to speak once more with an echo to his voice.

"O mournful voice of creation!
Send unto me a creature of the abyss,
my thrall to command,
that I may smite mine enemies!
It is time for ye showed forth,
Now end the tale that
was once began!
Séance Beckoned - Headless Horseman!"

The emeralds of the staff began to glow and he was soon momentarily surrounded with flame that seemed to harm not himself or the others around him. The flames soon separated from him...

...and Miero blacked out.

~~~
Moroi was flying about quick as a snap to various places, intercepting various attacks from the invading Igknights and cackling as he came back almost immediately for another round. Vântoase saw this as she blew away yet another burst of flame with her gusts, sighing at the sight.
"You certainly do enjoy getting a spanking, do you not," she muttered to herself before looking up, seeing her Summoner momentarily ablaze before seeing the flame fall to the ground without him. "...And one more is summon---"
Both Moroi and Vântoase halted in their individual places, the former suddenly clocked across the face and destroyed once more...but this time, it didn't come back. "Well, sh!t."
Summoning the wind around herself, she flew towards where the flame landed, seeing the manifested Horseman with his pumpkin head in one hand. "Crap, two seems to be his limit for now."
"Sadly, this is not opportunity for discussion."
"Right." The flame within the pumpkin began to burn brighter, a devious grin appearing on it. "I caught what he wanted me to do, though. I keep the numbers down and you help keep the flames low."
"Seems understandable. Lead the way, dear equestrian."
One at a time, the Horseman would ride up towards one of the many Igknights and throw the pumpkin at them before they could dodge it, forcing their destruction as he rode on and summoned another pumpkin into his hand. Vântoase flew up into the air and a gust of wind great enough to fill the entire citadel came into motion, though the winds seemed to avoid the Horseman and his pumpkins.
Kuria was passed out upon one of the beds in the medic wings, redressed in typical hospital garb. He occasionally twitched the fingers on his left hand and the closed lids over his left eyes appeared as if they were sinking into the socket instead of being held up.
"I do not understand what happened," one of the two male nurses in the room commented. "According to the doctors, what he dealt with isn't because of those strange gadgets attached to him."
"What could have happened," the other asked before replacing the bag attached to the IV with another.
"They aren't willing to share. Hell, I only caught that because I was paying attention while one was muttering to himself. They're being oddly silent on this."
The blonde of the pair, the one whom prepared the empty IV bag for later discarding, looked up at his partner with green eyes, towards a man that looked a bit old to be just a nurse instead of a full-on doctor.  "Thinking something's off yet again?"
The elder nurse gave a sideways grin, moving the white fuzz on his chin up a little as his eyes lit up with a knowing shimmer.
"When have I been wrong?"
Crossing his arms in front of him, the young blonde looked up towards the ceiling in thought.
"I can think of onc---"
"Once in how long," the elder was fast to interject.
"...fair enough."
A groan finally left Kuria's throat, an "ow, my everything" escaping his mouth as he opened his eyes...or eye, rather.
The cybernetic eye, as well as the arm, had been removed while he was unconscious...and it was admittedly creepy to look at him and be able to see the back of his eye socket, which had a variety of microelectronics specifically designed for where they were.
"Do you think I, the great Eraser, to be so weak?! I am a GOD. Your weak monsters don't affect me!" Helena's anger only got worse when the effect of her paladin didn't knock Eraser out and the sudden appearance of another Wicked God only increased the pain of her headache. "You... Stupid... Monsters! Why won't you just die like any normal card!?!"
Helena was stomping her foot on the ground and the energy coming from her eye was intensifying. "Fine then Eraser! Challenge accepted!! Say goodbye to your cheap Pendulums!!!" Helena drew a card from her deck and took a spell from her hand. "I activate Spell Shattering Arrow!" Paladin of the Dark Descent sheathed her sword and a glowing bow appeared in her hands. "Thanks to this card's effect, all face up spell cards on your field are destroyed and you take 500 damage for each one destroyed!!"
Paladin of the Dark Descent drew back the bow and fired a glowing arrow that split off and hit the two pendulum zones Eraser was using. "Say goodbye to your pendulums! And your life points!" A maniacal smile formed on Helena's face. "Now let's increase the pain, I activate Paladin of the Dark Descents effect and target one of your Igknights, Igknight Gallant to be precise!" As before, Paladin of the Dark Descent drew her sword and absorbed one of her overlay units into it, she swung her blade and sent a sword beam at Gallant, splitting the once great Igknight in two and sending him to the banished pile.
Once that was done, a circle of black fire would form around Helena and Eraser. The flames would erupt and deal damage equal to half of Gallant's ATK. As the flames enveloped her, Helena would let out a painful yell, but slowly this yell would transition to a painful, maniacal laugh. "This pain is nothing! I want more, more screams of agony, I want my powers to burn those in my way!!" Paladin looked on with an extremely worried expression. "She's going to end up getting herself killed..."
‘It seems we hit a block in the road,’ Eizar surmised. Yuria had a good idea trying to get them all in one place so they could keep a close eye on Jay. Eizar didn't really find that to be necessary, given how Jay seems to hold a level of contempt towards Akaryuu that dissuades some thoughts of association, and even if he did they couldn't insist on watching without raising the suspect's suspicion. On the flip side they were now able to ask Jay about his past without such a risk. ‘You know what they say, when one door closes another opens,’ he thought cheerily. “What exactly happened in your past that made you hate him so much?” he began. “And what makes him such a risk to three works?”
"I see what you mean. Well, truth be told, I'm from a... older time. Which is probably why you haven't heard of me. However, I got into these brackets because... my influence from the past allowed me to be entered automatically... It seems like it's my turn to duel. I'll see the both of you later."
"G'luck out there."
"I wish you luck in your duel."
That Akaryuu guy was suspicious. An older time? Getting in for free with influence? The only other person she could think of that met the latter criteria was Blues Kaiba himself, and not many people in the Greater Domino Area held that kind of power. There was the CEO of KaibaCorp, the Duel King who didn't even participate in the actual brackets...and who else really? Wicked God users, that was who, at least according to Aika. And then there was the other boy. Roy. Seemed he was running around wishing everyone else in the tournament good luck in their duels. And judging by Furiko's response to his questions, it seemed she and Aika would be going with that story too. Which was probably for the best. "Hey there no we were just making sure that this creepy old guy isn't planning to kill us all" wasn't exactly the best way to go about answering that type of question.
"Oh, are you two also wishing everyone luck?"
"Well, it turned out that way. Oh right. You're Roy, right? In the brackets just a few matches past mine? A pleasure to meet you. So, were you going around and meeting the other contestants too?"
"Yup, he's right after me in the first round. Guess that means yer gonna duel one of us if you make it to round three, don't it Roy?" Extending a hand to the boy, Aika followed her question up with "If we meet up there, yer gonna have to really fight if y'all want that spot in the semifinals."
wfMzvZj.png
"Well, I guess I shouldn't be surprised to see you here. So, nothing broken this time around?"
"No bones at least. Or records, unfortunately." The more Ayame thought about it, the more that - just as Hanae wasn't surprised to see her here - Ayame shouldn't have been surprised to see Hanae either. Always aiming upward, she was, straight to the top. Of course, last she'd heard, Ayame was still the big obstacle between Hanae and being the very best, at least in Academia. The first round would be her chance to see where the two stood nowadays; it had been a couple years since they'd spoken. Which brought Ayame to her next point. "And yourself? We haven't spoken since I graduated from Academia, and it's not like I live far from the school. Been busy with school I take it? Or have you been avoiding me?"
Saori bravely continued forth, adamant that the siege on the citadel had to be somehow connected to the attack on the real world from Van'Dalgyon. What she saw was something she'd never thought she'd bear witness to; two of the three Wicked Gods being present within the same vicinity. One of them was responsible for the assault on the citadel and was pressing his attack on it, and the other had been used in a duel that was off to one side.
'The Wicked Gods, huh? That can't be good for my plans,' Saori furrowed her brow, 'I must deal with these fools...'
She watched the duel that was going on from a distance. She was gonna have to intervene at some point, but for now, she needed learn more about The Wicked Avatar that was being used in it, and see if it had any weaknesses that she could possibly exploit...
"I will watch it, but I will watch it alone. I'm afraid my tragic life will affect the two of you in a horrible way..."
'That's a load of bull...' Yuria thought to herself, 'I betcha this wannabe emo didn't even lose anyone important,'
Still, this may have explained why Jay kept his back story to himself, even though it had unnecessarily aroused suspicion around him. In any case, Yuria still knew next to nothing about this guy, and that wasn't gonna change if she were to leave the two there, so it was worth sticking around.
“What exactly happened in your past that made you hate him so much? And what makes him such a risk to three works?”
Once again, Eizar took point in this investigation. Yuria returned her attention to the screen, but kept an ear open in case Jay said anything interesting about himself.
Tycho narrowed his eyes at Yugo, grabbing him by the shoulder and lowering himself down to the younger boy's height with a thunderous look in his eye.
"I didn't ask for YOU to duel him," he growled, Kuriboh worriedly poking over his shoulder to watch the argument with sad eyes. "I told you; Back off, Yugo." He looked back at Mokuba with shrewd eyes. "If he doesn't want to duel... we'll have to hope he can be persuaded otherwise to reveal his Wicked Gods..."
It was then that he caught sight of the TV Mokuba was viewing. In the corner of the screen was a smaller section with the words UPDATE scrolling across the top. Kuria was shown in a stretcher, being taken to the medic wing. The result of his match was below, showing he had lost to Jet.
"I'm not your ally..." Tycho said under his breath, watching the screen worriedly. "But I will give you this advice, Yugo... Be careful. Your allies are dwindling. Who knows if you'll be next."
He stood straight, walking forward to stand by Ao as he watched the match, frowning at the screen. "So, Izayoi was invited? I beleive the only other one to receive such an invitation was Mr. Kaiba." He narrowed his eyes. "And unlike Kaiba, he doesn't have the money or influence to promote his way up to such a level, does he? He must possess a great deal of power..." He slid his gaze over to Mokuba, waiting for a comment.
"How bout you wish me some luck, girlie?."
Hibiki tossed his helmet aside, standing in the hallway barring the way of Furiko and Aika, his Duel Disk held at the ready to turn on at a moment's notice. "What does your crew want with a duelist like Izayoi, eh?"
"First you're running around with the Duel King... then the Kaiba kid. And now you're cozying up to one of the strongest duelists here?" He sneered. "You collecting powerful duelists or something? You forgot the one that's going to take this tournament down... ME." He jerked a thumb at his own chest, leering at Furiko with snakelike, predatory eyes.
Glaeris chuckled as he drew his next card. Now, I bet you didnt know that DNA Surgery doesn't affect the Wicked Avatar, since shes divine. So I cant use spell cards at the moment,
“Thank the gods for small favors...” Daichi replied, rolling his eyes some.
I wouldn't thank them if I were you. I'm fact, Id start praying to them now. I have a super special thing known as a Normal Summon,
Glaeris chuckled. I summon the Healer of the Iron Dragon!
A petite blue haired girl came on to the field, trying to look intimidating, but failing at it. When shes summoned, I can Special Summon an Iron Dragon monster from my Graveyard. Ill choose the Warrior of the Iron Dragon! The warrior came back to the field, folding his arms. And now, I Contact Fuse them!Holding his hands together, he began to chant.
Warrior and Mage, come together to crush all in my path! Fusion Summon! Level 6, Mage of the Iron Dragon! (ATK: 2400) A figure covered in robes appeared on the field, holding a hand out to Daichi.
Daichi cursed under his breath, seeing that Glaeris brought forth a new monster, the Mage of the Iron Dragon. Great...an ACTUAL Spellcaster type monster...and one he owns. he thought, shaking his head.
Now I activate the Spell Card Raigeki! Glaeris stated with a smirk. Do I need to explain to a second rate duelist like yourself what such an old card does?
“No...” Daichi spoke, his fist clenching as he watched Gagaga Child and Chocolate Magician Girl getting struck down by the lightning bolts produced by Raigeki. He was wide open for an attack now…
As an added bonus, because I activated a Spell Card, Mage burns you for a 1000! Glaeris held out his hand. Burn in hell, boy!Mage mimicked Glaeris, shooting out metal shards that reduced Daichi down to 4450 life points. Now, Ill activate the Spell Card Monster Reborn, causing one of my monsters to rise from the grave and burn you yet another 1000! Be revived, The Wicked Gagaga Girl!
Daichi braced himself, before feeling himself being struck by the twofold storms of metal that Mage of the Iron Dragon produced, causing him to yell out and be knocked back quite a bit. Slowly getting up, Daichi could see Haruto once again by his side, making sure he was alright. “I-I’m fine...n-n-no worries, Haruto.” he smiled, before noticing the revived Gagaga Girl on Glaeris’ side of the field.
Oh, but you wont be. I intend to finish you right now. Now I activate the Mages second effect! By tribute two monsters, I can burn you equal to their original attacks! Ill tribute my Mage and my Gagaga Girl, burning you for 3400! The Mage slammed their hand into the ground, causing an explosion that engulfed the field, burning Daichi and reducing his life to a measly 50.
Once more, Daichi collapsed as he stared up at Glaeris and his Wicked Avatar. He tried to stand up, but he couldn’t. What was worse, his vision was getting slightly blurry. Was this how it felt to Duel against a Divine monster?
This is the end! Battle Phase! The Wicked Avatar attacks your directly! The large orb flew at Daichi, but surprisingly, it began to morph once again. This time however, it didn't take the form of a monster. No, it turned into a dark, inky version of Daichi himself.
“Feel the weight of your carelessness, and of your failures. Be defeated by your own evil,” the Avatar stated, its voice echoing, sounding like Daichi himself before decking him across the face, taking him down to zero.
Daichi felt the Avatar striking his face, causing him to be knocked back quite a bit. It was over...the Duel was through. He could make out blurs of the Secret Village field Spell slowly vanishing around him. He lost…
Glaeris began to laugh evilly as he walked over, the ooze tentacle flailing around a bit. Man, the blank card must have made a mistake. You were such easy prey! And now, youre the Avatars next meal! With a shout, he threw his tentacle forwards, ready to stab it into Daichi’s chest, to end this…
However, the strike never landed its mark. Like a bolt of lightning, a new figure appeared in front of Daichi, holding a large shield that blocked the strike. The monster in question resembled Gagaga Magician quite a bit, with his orange scarf and goggles on his head. However, he wore a flowing black jacket instead of the Spellcaster clothes Daichi was so used to.
Gagaga Gardna had intercepted the strike.
“Sorry we’re late,” Gardna stated. “But we’re all here now,”
Haruto let out a sigh of relief, before returning to solid form as he crouched down and moved Daichi some. “Well, better late than never. Who else is here?”
“Guess what time it is?” A voice called out before the sound of gunshots filled the air. “It’s high noon,” Gagaga Cowboy took his place next to Gardna, twirling his guns. “Now listen here, partner. I dunno what you think you’re doin’, but know this human is under the protection of the Gagaga Clan. And you ain’t gettin’ past us,”
Damn you DAMN YOU ALL TO HELL! Glaeris stated before tentacles exploded from his back, all flying towards the group. As quickly as they came, they were sliced to bits, as Gagaga Samurai appeared by the group.
“What are you waiting for, Haruto? Get him inside the Citadel! He will be safe there!” Samurai commanded.
Haruto nodded, picking up Daichi and turned back before moving on the roof, raising a hand to have a small portal open in the roof. “Thanks you guys...I suppose I owe you all.” he smiled, diving into the portal as it quickly closed up behind him.
The group smirked before dashing into battle, ready to hold off the minion of the Gods.
“Well, s***,” Gaia muttered as he watched Miero pass out. He flew up to the sky, spinning his lance. He soon got to Eraser’s eye and threw it. Eraser roared in pain, rearing its head back and gripping his eye.
“This pain is nothing! I want more, more screams of agony, I want my powers to burn those in my way!!" The Silents looked at each other with worry before grabbing Helena into a full nelson.
“Helena, you need to stop! Don’t make me force you!” He grunted. Suddenly, they could hear a roar above them. Looking up, they could see four dragons, Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon, Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon, Clear Wing Synchro Dragon, and Starving Vemon Fusion Dragon. On their back rode Iris Magician, Black Fang Magician, White Wing Magician, and Violet Poison Magician.
“Everyone, let’s call him in,” Iris called out. Violet Poison and White Wing both nodded before leaping into the air, smashing their staffs together, creating Synchro Rings. From the rings, came a white magician decked out with a sword, Enlightenment Paladin. Dark Rebellion and Black Fang then combined their powers, electricity wrapping around an Igknight and draining him of power. Enlightenment then dashed forward, slashing it in half and causing it to explode. He then turned back to the Silents.
“Take her inside. She needs help,” He stated. Swordsman nodded and began to attempt to wrestle Helena inside the Citadel. Meanwhile, Gaia flew over and tried to get Meiro inside as well. Hopefully, all would go well.
"I didn't ask for YOU to duel him," he growled, Kuriboh worriedly poking over his shoulder to watch the argument with sad eyes. "I told you; Back off, Yugo." He looked back at Mokuba with shrewd eyes. "If he doesn't want to duel... we'll have to hope he can be persuaded otherwise to reveal his Wicked Gods..."
“And how do you expect to do that?” Yugo asked. “The most subtle thing about you is your eyebrows, and those look like dancing caterpillars,”
"I'm not your ally..." Tycho said under his breath, watching the screen worriedly. "But I will give you this advice, Yugo... Be careful. Your allies are dwindling. Who knows if you'll be next."
“We’re not allies, so that means I don’t gotta put up with ya,” Yugo muttered. “Doing it anyways, because I’m not petty as you,”
He stood straight, walking forward to stand by Ao as he watched the match, frowning at the screen. "So, Izayoi was invited? I believe the only other one to receive such an invitation was Mr. Kaiba." He narrowed his eyes. "And unlike Kaiba, he doesn't have the money or influence to promote his way up to such a level, does he? He must possess a great deal of power..."
“Yes, he must. In fact, it’s rumored he contains powers that could rival the most mighty of gods. He is one we must be wary of….,” Ao muttered as he watched.
"Well, it turned out that way. Oh right. You're Roy, right? In the brackets just a few matches past mine? A pleasure to meet you. So, were you going around and meeting the other contestants too?"
"Yup, he's right after me in the first round. Guess that means yer gonna duel one of us if you make it to round three, don't it Roy?"
Extending a hand to the boy, Aika followed her question up with "If we meet up there, yer gonna have to really fight if y'all want that spot in the semifinals."
"How bout you wish me some luck, girlie?."
Roy turned to see Hibiki in the hallway. "What does your crew want with a duelist like Izayoi, eh?" He paused before he continued. "First you're running around with the Duel King... then the Kaiba kid. And now you're cozying up to one of the strongest duelists here?" He sneered. "You collecting powerful duelists or something? You forgot the one that's going to take this tournament down... ME." He jerked a thumb at his own chest, leering at Furiko with snakelike, predatory eyes.
“Well, aren’t you rude…?” Roy muttered. “You remind me of my fiancee… and if you’re not careful, you’ll be knocked down a peg. Just like what happened to her,”
x393wz.jpg
“What exactly happened in your past that made you hate him so much?” he began. “And what makes him such a risk to the world?”
Jay sighed. “It’s hard to explain. But because of him… the future was destroyed. Machines ruled, and people live in fear daily. It was horrible… and I’m here to stop that,”
Akaryuu sighed as he grabbed the top card of his deck. “It’s my turn… dr---,” Before he could finish his sentence, Mr. X’s D-Wheel began to wobble.
“What the hell?” Mr. X stated before he began to suddenly turn right, crashing into a wall, which then promptly was engulfed by a ball of flame. Akaryuu skidded to a stop and rushed over to the D-Wheel, before having to stop because of the flames.
“M-Mr. X is disqualified…,” Juri Lee managed to say before the emergency squad appeared, putting out the flames and scooping up Mr. X’s charr body, running off.
As the duo greeted the man, Roy, Furiko nodded at Aika's statement, mirroring the sentiment behind it. As she did though, she realized something. Right. If they both won their first round matches, then they'd face off against each other in the second round. This much was obvious, but it felt odd to Furiko to think about. Not so much that she'd be going against Aika, so much as it was that she would be going up against a person who wasn't Kyouji in this tournament. As she came to this conclusion, she looked towards her smaller ally and gave a friendly sort of smile. Giving her a friendly slap on the shoulder she said, "but first, you're going to have to beat me to get to him." She didn't have to worry about the bigger picture just yet. She didn't have to get better than Kyouji just yet. She just had to take things one step at a time and grow from them.  And in order to prove herself stronger than the king himself, she first had to prove she was stronger than Aika.
As she had come to this conclusion, a familiar, and creepy voice came up to her. She looked to see the predatory white haired man talking at her. She had originally thought him a threatening kind of creepy and scary individual. However, as he started to list off what she had done and who she had talked to this, a confused and slightly concerned look crossed her face. "Have, have you only been following me this whole time?"
 This man was definitely creepy, but it was starting to become a different kind of creepy. While her attention was almost taken by the fact that Roy had a fiancee, it was then drawn once again as the match between Akaryuu and Mr. X had gone on. Well, the "match." She went wide eyed as she heard that X had been disqualified, seeing nothing more than a burning wreck on the screen.  "What happened,she couldn't help but mutter.
While Hanae was actually relieved to hear that Ayame hadn't had any lasting injuries from her last accident, her face kept the similar serious and slightly irritated expression it had been the whole time. As she then followed up with questions Hanae shrugged with a smirk across her face saying, "ah, well you know. Last year of school, pressure for rising duelists start to rise you know?" Shaking her head she playfully said, "and what with all those young bloods eager to show they've got what it takes, it keeps me busy." Her grin faded into a more solemn expression, her voice serious. "But, I guess you can say I was avoiding you. I knew when I met you again I'd have to challenge you. And when that happened, I wanted it to be in a place at least those outside of our little campus could see. Because this time," with eyes filled with determination, she locked her gaze with Ayame's before saying, "I will win."
Haruto hurried through the interior of the Citadel, making his way towards the infirmary wing of the building, still carrying an unconscious Daichi. "Just hold on, Dai..." he muttered, before entering the wing. Upon entering, he saw Gagaga Clerk.
"Oh no...Haruto, what happened?"
"Daichi...he...got into a Duel with a servant of the Wicked Gods..." Haruto spoke, placing Daichi on a nearby table. "He took the full force of the Wicked Avatar. ...there was nothing I could do."
"Don't blame yourself, Haruto." Gagaga Clerk said, shaking her head. "Thankfully the others got to you both in time. And you brought him to me at a quick pace as well...he'll be fine. You must believe this."
Haruto nodded, moving away to allow Clerk to do her work. He only leaned up against the wall, pondering about everything that occurred. This Wicked God...that Avatar, it turned the monsters Glaeris stole into darker...twisted versions of themselves. Rinko was the obvious example of this. And from this, Daichi was the one in the crossfire...he had never seen him lose his cool like this in a Duel before.
You better pull through Dai... Haruto thought, sighing softly to himself. Me and a few others need you...
Jet sat in the waiting room, after being sent their at the doctor's request. He was originally planning to check on Kuria, the Duelist with cybernetic implants had to go through a lot of pain when he played Spark. Even more than he did...he had to at least make sure he was alright.
The door opened and Aichi stood in with a huge smile. "Fantastic work out there today, Hoshimi."
"Thank you, sir..."
Aichi smiled before approaching Jet. "Now then, may I see your deck for a moment?"
This was a bit odd to Jet. He was a little hesitant on complying as the doctor never really asked to look at his deck much. However, he begrudgingly handed him his deck, to which the doctor immediately began looking through.
"Now then...let's remove this here shall we?" Aichi said, holding up Trishula with a small smile. "This pesky card seems to be getting in the way of you summoning Stardust Spark, now isn't it? We wouldn't want that, now would we?"
Jet looked at Aichi and was planning to say something, but the look in the doctor's eyes almost screamed "Go on, try and say something. You'll regret it". Quickly avoiding eye contact, Jet stared at the floor and nodded. "Y-Yes sir..."
"Good! We're in agreement then." Aichi smiled, handing Jet the deck back, pocketing Trishula. "Now, to replace dear Trishula, we'll be giving you another experimental card."
Oh fan-funking-tastic... Jet thought, looking up to see Aichi handing him a new card. "Stardust Spark...Chronicle Dragon?"
"Indeed." Aichi spoke, adjusting his glasses. "This, is some what of an evolution to Stardust Spark. We need this to be summoned in your next Duel. Which, your opponent was just decided...and rather quickly might I add." he said, pulling up the image of Jet's opponent on his tablet. "Akaryuu Izayoi is your next step towards Blues."
Jet reluctantly took Stardust Spark Chronicle and nodded at Aichi, before standing. "Sir?" he spoke up, now having Aichi look at him slightly. "P-Permission to check on Kuria Bijorn?" Surprisingly to Jet, the doctor only smiled with a nod.
"But of course, Jet." he said, his smile turning twisted slightly. "After all, your monster was the cause of his injuries. Go see the fruits of your labor, boy."
It wasn't putting him at ease with hearing this, but nevertheless, Jet left the waiting room and headed towards the infirmary to check on Kuria. Hopefully if he was lucky, the Duelist was awake and not being a stiff cucumber.
As Gaia flew down towards the ground, the ethereal-looking ghost that was Vantoase flew up to meet him in the air. "I will take him to the ground, you should continue on unburdened."
Even as she was doing this, the gusts of wind she was creating throughout the entirety of the Citadel held strong, though they were oddly pushed away from the Eraser's form...
Below, the Headless Horseman had thrown yet another pumpkin to bullseye another of the Igknights summoned and destroy them, before finding himself in a large pocket of unmoving air as he reformed another in his hand. "Wait, huh?" Looking up, he found himself looking up and up until finally meeting the eyes of the monstrosity in front of him...and suddenly feeling that his pumpkins would be woefully inadequate for the task of destroying him.
Backing the horse up into the winds once more, the Horseman hoped he would have gone unnoticed...
~Kuria's POV~
The moment that he realized that he only had one eye at the moment caused Kuria to look down towards the now-absent arm, letting loose a groan that caught the attention of the two nurses. "Welcome back to the land of the living," the elder of the pair stated towards Kuria, to which he got a slight smirk out of the duelist.
"I never expected to hear that line from anyone working at a hospital," Kuria admitted, to which the elder smirked as well.
"'Tis why I say it, lad."
"...can...can you tell us what happened," the younger of the two asked Kuria. "We haven't heard anything from the doctors about what had happened yet."
Thinking that such was because they were still trying to figure that out, Kuria carefully pushed himself up on the bed to better get into a semi-sitting state, considering how the bed was folded to allow him to sit up and still be laying down. "I'm not sure. All I know is that I tried to take that card out of Jet's hands for the duel so he wouldn't suffer the pain from using that...wasn't expecting what happened, though."
The younger nurse looked towards the elder and simply asked. "Do you think the programming of the card was faulty?"
"It's possible, I would have to look over the duel again to watch for any indicators of that."
"Hey...is Jet okay," Kuria managed to ask, prompting the elder to raise a white eyebrow.
"If you mean your opponent, he hasn't come to the medic wing, so I would hazard a guess and say he's alright. But---"
Attention all staff: Prepare to receive another crash patient.
"Son of a...two Turbo duels, two crashes?" The elder seemed more aggravated than anything else. "Why do the youth insist on these inane..." Turning towards the younger between them, the elder simply states, "Go on and handle that, this one involves a puzzle hidden in sight."
Both nurses left the room, leaving Kuria alone for the moment to plop his head against the pillow. "What in the world happened..."
~~~~~

The younger of the two nurses wound up crashing against Jet in his rush, netting a hasty apology before looking better at him. "...wait, aren't you Jet Hoshimi?"

Pointing back towards the room he left, he continued, "If you're going to check on Bijorn, he's in there...just don't freak about missing things on him."

With that, the young nurse bolted to meet the newest crash victim...

Helena wasn't in her right mind, she would've started attacking everyone around her if not for the Silents restraining her. “Helena, you need to stop! Don’t make me force you!” Swordsman exclaimed, he and Magician kept a good hold on her.

"Let go of me, let go of me you freaks!" Helena was struggling violently to try and escape their grasp. "You don't know who your messing with, I'll see to it you all will squirm in unimaginable pa-" Before she could finish her sentence, Paladin of the Dark Descent had hit her over the head with her shield. "I'm sorry..." Paladin said in a quiet voice, Helena was knocked clean out and the sparking energy from her eye faded away.

"Please forgive her, she wasn't in her right mind..." Paladin apologized to the Silents before turning away. "Please... Take care of her..." she said before rushing out to meet the newly arrived magicians and their dragon counterparts. "Shiren, Paladin of the Dark Descent... Point me to where I'm needed the most." she said looking up at Enlightenment Paladin.

While Eizar continued to interview Jay, Yuria returned her attention to the screen. Here, she found that the duel between Mr. X and Akaryuu was already starting. Yuria kept most of her attention on the duel; she didn’t want to miss a single move that Akaryuu could possibly make while she and Eizar were busy with Jay. And it was a good thing too, as the supposed Mr. X seemed to have Duel Runner troubles just as Akaryuu drew for the turn. Sure enough, the Duel Runner in question had suddenly careened into the wall and burst into flames, reducing Mr. X to ash. Yuria bit her lip and inhaled heavily as she saw this happen.

"Hooooooooooooolllyyyyyyyyyy mother of... is this for real?!" Yuria exclaimed, "The Mr. X guy just exploded out of thin air!"

"And here I thought autopilot was supposed to stop this kinda thing from happening..." Palpigrad stated.

"...I wanna say that it probably got hacked before the duel even started, but..." Neobis mused aloud, "...who out here even hacks?"

Yuria wondered this too. After all, surely competitors would be disqualified the minute it became known that they had a history of hacking and other crimes, right? However, something Jay had said had got Yuria to thinking who a potential suspect could be...

“It’s hard to explain. But because of him… the future was destroyed. Machines ruled, and people live in fear daily.”

"Hey, hold up a minute. You said something about machines ruling a destroyed future or something because of Akaryuu," Yuria said, mostly to refresh what she wanted to ask, "Could there possibly be a hacker that works for Akaryuu? Or... maybe Akaryuu does the hacking himself or something?"

Saori could only watch as The Wicked Avatar made short work of the opposing duelist. She was hoping the guy would at least last long enough for her to properly study the creature that threatened her plans, but alas, that was not meant to be. Thankfully the wielder of the God Card was foolish enough to mention something about a "blank card".

'Blank cards, huh?' Saori mused to herself, intrigued by such a mentioning, 'Perhaps that's what I need to stop those imbeciles from ruining everything...'

She took it that they needed to be unlocked by someone worthy before they would unleash their true power, but first, she needed to get her hands on one or two of them to begin with. But for now, realizing she was unequipped to do battle with The Wicked Avatar, Saori slipped past its wielder's field of vision and ventured further into the citadel itself. It was here that she found a knight wielding two spears, who was riding a peculiar-looking dragon as it combated the other Wicked God, Eraser.

This was Gaia, the Dragon Champion, an easily recognizable Duel Spirit.

"Hey, you there!" Saori called out to Gaia, "I'm here to conduct an investigation. I'm willing to put that on hold for the moment and aid you with this... dilemma, you have here, but I'm going to have to ask that you co-operate with me the moment this is dealt with."

El Shaddoll Construct moved to Saori's side, staying vigilant for Eraser's attacks or any stray Igknights coming their way.

Eizar stared at Jay, processing what the boy in black just said. So the reason why Jay had such a fixation on Akaryuu was because he brought about a future where the world's society came under the rule of mechanical overlords? That didn't make any sense, how would somebody know about an unforeseeable future, unless… ‘He is from the future.’

Just as such a conclusion was reached, a crash resounded throughout the stadium. Eizar turned his head towards the screen to see a D-Wheel, or what's left of it, smouldering against one of the circuits walls. Yuria started asking Jay questions by the time Eizar peeled his eyes off of the screen.

"You said something about machines ruling a destroyed future or something because of Akaryuu. Could there possibly be a hacker that works for Akaryuu? Or... maybe Akaryuu does the hacking himself or something?"

‘These are some important questions,’ Eizar began to himself. ‘Akaryuu is starting to appear the more prevalent threat, we're going to need more information about him.’ He then looked at Jay with determination in his eyes. “Jay, I know you may be one of those lone wolf types but, if we were to work together we would have a greater chance at stopping whatever he's got planned.”

"But first, you're going to have to beat me to get to him."

"Seems like it. May the best girl win."

"How bout you wish me some luck, girlie? What does your crew want with a duelist like Izayoi, eh? First you're running around with the Duel King... then the Kaiba kid. And now you're cozying up to one of the strongest duelists here? You collecting powerful duelists or something? You forgot the one that's going to take this tournament down... ME."

"Have, have you only been following me this whole time?"

"We got a word for folk runnin' around stalkin' a young lady who ain't done nothin' back home. Creepy."

However, Aika's attention was soon drawn away from the creepy guy. She had better things to focus on. The duel between their suspect - Akaryuu Izayoi - and some fellow by the name of Mr. X. Real original, that. Aika had expected a promising duel to start things off. Big monsters, epic spells, cunning traps, and exciting plays. Even better if Akaryuu somehow would confirm the suspicions that he had a Wicked God on him. No such thing happened, however. His D-Wheel veered straight into a wall before the first draw of the duel could even finish. This was...not the right way to kick off a tournament.

"What happened?"

"Somethin' fishy," Aika muttered back. "Y'ever see a D-Wheel do that? 'Cause I haven't."

wfMzvZj.png

"Ah, well you know. Last year of school, pressure for rising duelists start to rise you know? And what with all those young bloods eager to show they've got what it takes, it keeps me busy. But, I guess you can say I was avoiding you. I knew when I met you again I'd have to challenge you. And when that happened, I wanted it to be in a place at least those outside of our little campus could see. Because this time, I will win."

"Oh~?" A smile grew on Ayame's face at Hanae's bold declaration. She'd come this far without any resistance, and here was the duelist that had yet to beat her saying she'd win in the first round and both take Ayame's title as the best duelist Academia had to offer and knock her out of the brackets at the same time. It was quite the setting for a duel that was only happening in the first round. It felt more like a semifinals type of confrontation, but Ayame welcomed the excitement. "There's only one way to find out, isn't there? I'll see you later this round, flower girl. It's a date." Leaving her underclassman with a pat on the shoulder as Ayame continued on her way, she waved Hanae goodbye, until next they met for their duel.

Now, who else on the bracket is important...

Valeria watched on the screen as the "duel" between Akaryuu Izayoi and Mr. X played. It was...well, kind of pathetic. Definitely tragic, and Valeria made a note that she'd have to find out if he was okay, but who was pathetic enough to sabotage a D-Wheel like that? Then again, the preliminaries weren't lacking in those kinds of people either. Anything to get into the prestigious Fortune Cup I guess, yet here I am fair and square. Good for her. Valeria meandered about the halls of the stadium as she waited to observe the next duel, loosely looking through her deck to keep combos and plays fresh in her mind. "And then with the money from the tournament, I'll..."

Bump.

She bumped into someone. Valeria wasn't sure who. All she knew was that as she bumped into that person, her deck fell all over the floor around her. Valeria wasted no time getting down to her knees, reaching around and picking up the scattered pile of Cursed Arms monsters and assorted Spells/Traps. "Sorry! I wasn't looking at where I was going."

[spoiler=OOC]I don't usually do these OOC bits, but I've left Valeria's part intentionally vague. Anyone who wants to get some interaction in and is at the tournament, have at it.

Tycho tossed a sidelong glance at Mokuba with raised eyebrows. "Interesting that you put it that way... Powers that could rival the most mighty of Gods?" He played off a casual smile, flashing a pointed glance to Yugo behind Ao's back. Despite the fact he and Yugo had been arguing the whole time, he couldn't help feeling like tossing some help the boy's way. He was just a kid, after all. He probably needed all of it he could get.

"What Gods have YOU seen that Izayoi could stand against?" he asked Mokuba curiously, before his attention was drawn away by the sudden crash of Mr. X.

"What the hell happened?" he asked, shaken, looking with wide eyes as the words "WINNER: IZAYOI" rolled across the screen. Two matches in, and as many duelists have ended it in the medical wing... He thought, the bracket popping up and showing Izayoi's advancement. His eyes caught sight of the next match: A red-headed girl and-

"Yugo!" he blurted out, whipping around to look at the boy, Kuriboh almost falling off his shoulder in his sudden movement. "The match is over, yours is next! Best ready yourself." He hesitated a moment before stepping forward, bending down and muttering just low enough for the boy to hear:

"Be careful, Yugo. This tournament is getting more dangerous by the second... and if Izayoi used a Wicked God to crash that D-Wheel... I would consider if you want to advance beyond this round."

"So what if I am following you?" Hibiki asked slyly, flashing Roy a middle finger for his trouble. "Maybe I wanna join your freak show." He sneered at the thought. "All you have to do is tell me what you're up to and I'll piss off. Or I can force it out of you." He held up his arm threateningly, Duel Disk at the ready.

But a sudden noise caught his attention. "Eh?" he asked, turning to see the match result. "Did X bite it that quickly? Not surprising against Izayoi." He chuckled mockingly at Furiko's confused response. "You stupid girl... I think after our duel, you'd recognize the ability of a Psychic Duelist! Though I must say..." He narrowed his eyes at the screen. "Izayoi must be incredibly powerful to not even play a card and accomplish that..."

The loud roars of the Wicked Eraser shook the entire area, his deafening sound began to ring in every single ear that was close by. As he roared, he could be seen covering the area in some black inky substances.

“You insolent FOOLS!!” Eraser roared out, directing his attention at the opposition before me. “Do you know why I’m known as the Wicked ERASER?” he began to boast, before laughing. “It’s because I erase things from the face of the earth! And you...YOU ARE NO EXCEPTION!!

“Tch...looks like Aladjinn has gone a bit too far.” Glaeris spoke, seeing the opposing Gagagas before him and the Wicked Avatar. It was obvious that they needed to move.

The Wicked Avatar shifted back towards Glaeris and took his hand, before taking the appearance of a being with the oozing pitch black wings. “Come Glaeris...our business is finished.”

“I suppose you're right.” Glaeris nodded, before being taken away, staring at the Gagagas. “Sayonara, you pieces of sheet.”

“Leave him.” Gagaga Samurai spoke suddenly, turning his attention to the out of control Wicked Eraser. “We have more pressing matters.”

“You're right on that, pardner...”

However, things began to become more difficult. The inky black substance that the Eraser produced only seemed to be growing at an alarming rate. Everything was overtaken in it’s wake...everything engulfed in darkness...fading to black. But...it was for a short moment… When the darkness subsided, all that present was Eraser...no...Aladjinn and everything...was strangely untouched.

“W-What? What the hell is going on?!” Aladjinn shouted, before seeing the Duel Spirits landing around him. Then, Aladjinn and all those who were present, heard the booming voice.

"The Citadel has gathered countless magic throughout the years, ones powerful enough to prevent the power of weaken, fallen god!"

“He has returned.” Maho spoke with a smile, looking upwards. “Master Endymion has returned.”

Upon this, everyone’s heads took upwards to where they saw him. Atop the tallest tower stood a man cloaked from head to toe in a black robe, with fitted purple gems as well as gold accents that the robe had. His skin looked a light blue which complimented his dark red hair that was seen coming from his helmet. Behind the man was a gold and ivory spell circle which shone with a great light, as did the staff that was held in the magician’s hand.

“I am Endymion, Master Magician!” he bellowed from his high tower in which he stood. “Begone from my citadel, you pawn of evil!!” Before Aladjinn could give any kind of rebuttal, Endymion stabbed his staff into the ground and suddenly Aladjinn was engulfed in a rainbow light and when it dimmed...he vanished.

“Maho!”

Maho stood up straight and nodded at Endymion. “Yes, master?”

“Bring these humans into the citadel main hall.” Endymion spoke, sighing. “We need to have a meeting with our allies about this situation.”

“It will be done, master.” Maho bowed slightly, before seeing Endymion vanish from the tower. The Dark Magician turned to those who fought the Wicked Eraser and cleared his throat. “If you all will please follow me. It seems that Master Endymion wishes for an audience with you.” With this, Maho turned and made his way towards the citadel’s doors and opened them, ushering in the motley crew in.

From within the infirmary wing of the citadel, Haruto could hear the roaring of the Wicked Eraser...but as quickly as it was heard...it ceased. "What? ...It stopped..." he said, before seeing Gagaga Clerk lifting her head some. "What's wrong?"

"It seems that the master has returned." Clerk said, before looking back to see Daichi slowly stirring. "Oh and just in time too. Seems like your partner is waking."

Haruto heard this and quickly moved over towards Daichi. "Dai! ...are you alright?"

"N-Ngh...b-been better..." Daichi groaned, rubbing his head a little. "D-Did you happen to see what hit me?"

"Unfortunately it was the Wicked Avatar taking form as yourself..."

"Oh...so I literally kicked my own ass..." Daichi chuckled, before sighing and getting off the medical table with Haruto helping him. "I screwed up big time, Haruto..."

Haruto sighed, before shaking his head. "Don't blame yourself, Dai. He got in your head..." he said, walking with Daichi. "You didn't fail."

H-Heh...glad you think, Haruto...cause I sure don't... Daichi thought, walking with Haruto. "W-Where are we going by the way?"

"To see the master of the citadel, Endyimon." Haruto nodded.

"Yugo!" Tycho blurted out, whipping around to look at the boy, Kuriboh almost falling off his shoulder in his sudden movement.

Yugo only smiled at Tycho, giving him a two fingered salute. He seemed like he wasn’t worried in the slightest. “Thanks for the warning. Stay safe yourself, ya know...just in case this guy is bad news.” he said, before heading off. Now it was his time to shine.

Once Yugo left, Ao spoke once more.

"Now, I personally have not seen him Duel these so called gods... Only a select number of people have... But I had a very reliable source tell me he has," he waved a hand. "It must sound silly, but what if I told you a dragon called Quetzalcoatl told me this?"

"You stupid girl... I think after our duel, you'd recognize the ability of a Psychic Duelist! Though I must say..." Hibiki spoke, after Furiko’s confused outburst, whilst he narrowed his eyes at the screen. "Izayoi must be incredibly powerful to not even play a card and accomplish that..."

"A Psychic can cause D-Wheels to crash without playing a card? Fascinating. Can you do that?" Roy asked, glancing over at Hibiki.

However, the doors opened quickly and there stood Akaryuu. The Duelist looked up and saw the group, giving them a thorough look, before chuckling. “Is this a victory party? I haven’t even won the tournament.”

x393wz.jpg

"You said something about machines ruling a destroyed future or something because of Akaryuu. Could there possibly be a hacker that works for Akaryuu? Or... maybe Akaryuu does the hacking himself or something?" Yuria spoke to Jay.

Jay slowly looked at Yuria, before nodding. "It's possible he has someone helping him... However, it might be that the Meklords didn't want to fight Akaryuu and caused him to wreck." That’s when he heard Eizar speak.

“Jay, I know you may be one of those lone wolf types but, if we were to work together we would have a greater chance at stopping whatever he's got planned.”

"We will work together... But not travel in a group. It'll look suspicious if I suddenly started following you around," Jay began to write down some digits. "Give me your number, and I'll contact you if I find anything."

"Well..after that match...we move on to our next match-up!” Juri Lee said, before pointing up towards the giant screen. “Give it up for Yugo Fudo and Maggie Hogan!!”

Maggie, who was already at the starting line, looked over and saw Yugo slowly pulling up beside her. "Hey, Yugo. The princess told me that if you lose to me, she'll kick your ass herself." she said, to which Yugo glanced at her.

"Oh yeah, in all the excitement, I forgot... She's not in the brackets. Did she actually lose?"

Maggie shook her head. "The battle of wills to her mother? Yeah, she's not allowed to participate this year." To this, Yugo only clicked his tongue.

"Too bad. I was hoping to settle the score here."

"You mean have another dueling date?"

Yugo looked at Maggie, rolling his eyes at her teasing him like this. "Man, what is with you guys and saying I'm dating her?"

"It's fun to tease the both of you." Maggie stated with a shrug.

“Alright the contestants are ready!” Juri Lee smiled, before snapping her fingers. “RIDING DUEL….ACCELERATION!!”

With that, both Maggie and Yugo took off, racing towards that first turn and the start of this Duel.

"...wait, aren't you Jet Hoshimi? If you're going to check on Bijorn, he's in there...just don't freak about missing things on him."

Jet nodded, only bowing slightly out of curtsy because of bumping into them. He moved quickly into the room, only stopping at the doorway to see Kuria's arm and eye out and on the table beside him. He honestly wasn't expecting to see this...

He slowly cleared his throat and knocked on the door. "Hey...looks like your doin' alright...well, all things considered anyway." he said, walking into the room. "I gotta say...looks like you might have it a lot more worse than I do...I-I mean, lookin' at all the cybernetic implants..."

Furiko started feel more a sense of disgust from the man as he blatantly admitted to having been stalking her, and then felt a little more on edge as he tried to insist on getting what it was she was doing out of her. The thought of someone like him getting to know just what it was they were up to. He already seemed plenty fine with hurting whoever whenever, but if he managed to get involved with the wicked gods then that could only mean trouble. As he had threatened to get the information out of her, she stood firm, yet silent, unable to directly answer him. However, he then remarked about how Izayoi was likely a psychic duelist, and a rather potent one at that if he were able to destroy X's D-Wheel with such ease. Furiko didn't really know a lot about Psychic Duelists, nor the true breadth of power they actually had, but if this man was really allied with the Wicked Gods then it only made sense that he'd be able to do something of that scope. Regardless, she finally said,  "sorry, but I like to keep my private life away from my fans."

As Akaryuu made his way back to the group, he seemed to think that they were here to congratulate him for his victory, though they hadn't moved from this spot to begin with. Though she tired to keep her wariness from him, attempting to look calm she said, "well, it didn't seem to be much of a match. Are you doing alright?" The man's overall lack of concern for what had just happened was certainly off putting as well, but trying to act suspecting wouldn't be at all helpful right now.

Hanae kept a similar grimace over her face as Ayame seemed to accept her challenge in stride. As the purple haired girl tapped on the shoulder before bidding her adieu. Hanae kept a glare on her before turning away and starting to walk away herself. As she started to walk forward, her hands started to tighten into fists as she bit her lip before letting out a, "gaaaaah, who does she think she is!?" While this most certainly attracted the attention of those around her, she gave a scowl to them, making most go back towards minding their own business. "I don't see her for at least a year and she's still got the same shitty, smug attitude. That funking rich snobby, gaaah," Hanae started mumbling to herself. While anyone who had been watching the conversation prior would've had no idea what Hanae was talking about, nor was her ramblings entirely accurate either, that still didn't stop her from fuming.

Clenching her fist, she started waving it at the air before saying, "just you wait Iwaki-senpai. I'll kick your ass eight ways to the graveyard and back and wipe that funking smile off your shitty face." As she said this, the image of Ayame looking at her with a pretentious smile on her face and condescending look in her eyes as she laughed at Hanae went through the blonde's mind. With a low "grrrr," she then said, "that jabroni!" Sending her fist out in a rage, she then felt it connect it with something.

"Owwowowwow..."

A soft thud could be heard as she turned around to see someone lying on the ground, rubbing their forehead. Hanae went from pissed to suddenly worried in a few seconds saying a low, "oh sheet." She looked around, for a second, seeing that she had once again garnered some attention, but felt somewhat awkward in this moment. So, before the girl could get up, Hanae awkwardly shuffled away, getting as far away from the scene as possible.

Picking herself off the ground she simply said, "jeez, the hell was her problem?" Rubbing her forehead a bit more, she simply shrugged and said, "ah, whatever, doesn't really matter. Now then, where was I?" Putting her headphones back on, she played the music again and said, "oh right!" With the tune playing in her ears, she continued to walk along, bobbing her head faster as the song picked up and not really paying much attention until she felt something else bump into her.

Falling down, hitting the group with her rump, she let out another, "ow." Wincing in pain she then mumbled, "man today's not my day." As the girl reopened her eyes, she saw that the person she had pumped into was apologizing, unlike the last one, to which the white haired girl simply removed her headphones saying, "nah, s'all good. Was my b. Wasn't lookin' where I was goin' either." Looking at the cards scattered about the ground, the girl said, "oh that ain't good. Lemme help you out there." Helping pick up the scattered deck, the girl marveled at the cards saying, "woho, these are some pretty unique things I'm seeing here. Got a pretty nifty deck there Miss....uh?" As she handed the deck back to  the person, she couldn't help the feeling that this person was familiar looking. Seeming to hit a realization before saying, "o'course. Where're my manners. Name's Zephine Dalca!"
