"You stupid girl... I think after our duel, you'd recognize the ability of a Psychic Duelist! Though I must say... Izayoi must be incredibly powerful to not even play a card and accomplish that..."

"Y'all wouldn't know potency," Aika sneered in response to this creep, "if it looked y'all dead in the eyes."

"A Psychic can cause D-Wheels to crash without playing a card? Fascinating. Can you do that?"

“Is this a victory party? I haven’t even won the tournament.”

"Well, it didn't seem to be much of a match. Are you doing alright?"

"An' how 'bout the other guy? That crash looked pretty nasty. Y'all seem to be takin' it alright though." As much as Aika wanted to go check up on the man who had crashed, her job was to figure out if this guy had any affiliation with the Wicked Gods. She'd have to stick around. Even if it meant continuing to share a room with that creep. "For that matter, I was kinda lookin' forward to seein' y'all in action, an' then there ain't even a duel to be heard of. What kinda deck y'all carryin' around?"

AdvnmBN.png

"Nah, s'all good. Was my b. Wasn't lookin' where I was goin' either. Oh that ain't good. Lemme help you out there."

"Thanks." As Valeria continued picking up the cards around her, the girl now assisting her seemed pretty interested in Valeria's deck.

"Woho, these are some pretty unique things I'm seeing here. Got a pretty nifty deck there Miss....uh? O'course. Where're my manners. Name's Zephine Dalca!"

"Valeria Landi. Pleased to meet you." Rounding up the rest of the cards was easy work from there. Soon, Valeria had fully reassembled her deck, with some help from this Zephine girl. The cards put back in their proper place, and Valeria having double-checked to make sure they were all there, the girl got back up to her feet, extending a hand to help Zephine do the same. "Thanks again, by the way. I'm glad you like the cards I've got here; just wait until you see them in action."

It felt like hours had went by when Helena woke up, she could barely remember what had happened. One second she was trying to help stop Eraser and then... Everything was just a green blur. Helena looked around to find herself in a familiar room, the Silents room and a dark figure stood at the foot of her bed, Shiren. "I thought you were never going to wake up... I'm glad you did..."

Helena tilted her head in confusion as the dark warrior spoke. "What... What happened? Is the city ok, is everyone ok?" Helena asked desperately. "Calm down... Everyone is fine, they're more worried about you right now..." The paladin spoke in a calming, familiar tone. It took a second for Helena to realize who she was speaking to and to realize what had happened, the fact that her eyepatch was missing only made her feel even worse.

"I... I don't know what I was doing... There was just this... Pounding in my head, everything was happening so fast and then..." she went silent, she didn't want to say anymore. Shiren sighed and helped Helena out of bed. "Come on... There's a meeting in the hall, Endymion needs everyone there, even you."

Shiren helped Helena out the door and lead her to the main hall of the citadel, Helena remained silent the whole way there and if she saw Silent Swordsman and Silent Magician she wouldn't even look at them. Everyone saw what she had done, everyone knew what she was capable of now. It wouldn't surprise her if they were afraid of her, that they saw her as some kind of freak, a masochist, a sadist, a monster...

Hibiki barked out a laugh, looking thoroughly unconvined. "Please, Izayoi... You're not fooling anybody." He strode up to the duelist, glaring into his eyes with a predatory pupil. On the way he gave a condescending glance to Roy. "You can't even comprehend the power I have, kid... Ask her," he suggested, leering at Furiko. "She knows all too well." He returned his attention to Izayoi.

"Listen here, man... You try any of that crap with me, I'll sick all the snakes in my deck upon you, and you'll wish you'de never had the nerve to challenge another Psychic Duelist." He cackled rudely. "If you even make it far enough to face me. Or were you planning on causing everyone to crash before they could strike you?"

Tycho raised an eyebrow. "Quetzacoatl?" he asked, his skepticism pronounced. "Isn't that some god of the Aztecs, or something like that?"

"I'd be very interested in learning all you and... your source know about Izayoi's dueling prowess. Normally I wouldn't make such a request, but you know... Given we've not had the chance to see him fight today, it seems only prudent. He's at quite the advantage to the rest of us now."

Tycho was beginning to suspect less and less that Mokuba was a holder of a Wicked God. Though the mention of Quetzacoatl WAS a bit odd. Were any of the Wicked Gods reffered to by that name? But Akaryuu Izayoi was looking more and more suspicious by the second. Echoes of his strength resounding through the tournament, the suspicious circumstances of his entry, and the fact that he was now the only duelist who wouldn't be seen dueling? It was all too good to be true.

Vantoâse flew down towards the ground with Miero in her arms when she felt the shift in the air. Her feet barely touched the ground, and already, she could feel the taint in the winds as the Eraser began to ready himself for his ultimate strike. An aggravated groan left her throat as the winds immediately around them began to swirl faster and faster in an attempt to make a shield of kinetic energy, hoping to shield at least herself and her summoner from the strike to come, ready to fly away to safety with the momentum of the blast if needed.

But alas, it did not happen.

Though she was unsure how, the Wind Spirit of the Seance-Beckoned monsters knew that something had intervened to save the place from being destroyed by the Wicked God.

“He has returned,” the manifested Spirit heard, turning her blinded gaze up towards the same direction those around her looked to see the figure in the distance through the silk that covered her eyes. “Master Endymion has returned.”

Looking down towards the source of the voice, she saw that almost everyone had turned their heads towards one particular direction. Following the collective gazes, she spotted a figure among the winds upon the tallest of towers present, seemingly unfazed by the gusts that would try to buffet him off it. A small nod of approval granted, she smiled before floating over towards where she had seen at least one other being delivered in such a state while in the air, a thinking expression crossing her face before softening as she felt stirring in her grasps.

~Miero's POV~

He ached everywhere and he didn't know why. All the librarian knew was that he was flying on the back of some strange dragon that another controlled before everything faded to black.

Was it all a dream?

"You are still within the Spirit World, master," he heard, prompting him to look up towards the voice...

...and wind up jumping clean out of Vantoâse's arms, landing on his rump in the process. "Wh...what..."

"You are safe now, master," the ethereal spirit responded before pointing at something near him. Looking down, he saw his gold and emerald staff and picked it up before using it to get onto his feet. After he stood up and looked back up towards her, Miero saw her looking down at one of his arms.

The one he had put the recently-purchased duel disk on.

"You purchased that, yet you have no intention to use it." Tensing at this statement, Miero narrowed his gaze at her.

"I'm trying to do this in the way I know how."

"Your chosen way will end with your unnecessary death and the Wicked Ones in possession of our power." Miero jolted back in surprise at this statement. "I said before that if you die without completing the contract, your son will inherit both us and the contract. Your son is currently in the enemy's hands. Do you truly wish to grant them more power?"

The librarian closed his eyes and leaned his head forward in thought. The thought of finding out that his son was captured by the foul snake and planned to be used as its new vessel sickened him greatly. "You must put old wounds behind and take to dueling once more. That is the only way you will be able to save your son."

Vantoâse faded from view in front of him, allowing him to feel like he had never passed out. Standing up straight without the aid of the staff in hand, Miero looked at the duel disk on his right arm with a pensive look.

"Hang on, Malin. Papa's coming..."

~Kuria's POV~

Kuria, still laying back on the bed, turned his head towards the door and wound up starting to squint at it due to how blurred his vision seemed to be. Placing his remaining hand over his face, unintentionally covering the left eyesocket in the process, Kuria muttered a swear under his breath as the door began to open, seeing someone he was unable to immediately recognize because of his impaired vision.

"Hey...looks like your doin' alright...well, all things considered anyway."

That voice sounds familiar, Kuria thought to himself, keeping the hand over the empty eyesocket.

"I gotta say...looks like you might have it a lot more worse than I do...I-I mean, lookin' at all the cybernetic implants..."

"I'm not in pain through an entire duel after summoning something, though," Kuria admitted upon recognizing the voice before closing his left eye before lowering his one hand. "Also...without my glasses, I can't really see even decently with my remaining eye. Can you find and hand me my glasses?"

His blurred vision prevented him from seeing it, but the wire-framed glasses he spoke of sat near the cybernetic pieces, closer to the camera that acted as an eye than the arm. Kuria looked up towards the ceiling with his one eye, leaning back into the pillow in the process. "After you give me my glasses, close the door." Without turning his head towards him, Kuria opened up his left eye as he glanced towards Jet with his remaining one. "You and I need to have a talk and I don't want others overhearing."

Before Helena and Shiren, the Silent Magician moved and bowed slightly. “I am glad you are unharmed.” she said, before turning around. “Please follow me, the master is waiting.”

DhJ7tvV.png

“Pardon me, sir.” Meiro would hear a voice on his left, before noticing a Duel Monster spirit that he would recognize as Blast Magician approaching him. “I request you follow me. Master Endymion is waiting.” With that, he turned and began to lead Meiro.

DhJ7tvV.png

Not too long after, Silent Magician, Blast Magician, and even Haruto brought the Duelists of the human world towards an arched door, to which the wood that seemed to make it seemed almost ancient, but well preserved at the same time. The door slowly opened and when ushered inside, Meiro, Helena, and Daichi was this circular room, almost the size of a church’s sanctuary. Upon further inspection, there were countless magical circles around the room, while in the center stood Endymion himself.

But he wasn’t the only one.

One sweep of the room, and the three Duelists found even Maho standing in one of the circles, and a huge beautiful ivory dragon that seemed to sparkle, aside from being in the room. It was Stardust Dragon.

Endymion motioned for them to join him in the center with him, waiting until the three made their way over. When they stood next to him, they could see Dread Knight, Wade, and Phantom Falcon hidden behind the magician's massive frame.

"Now that you are all here, we can begin," Endymion stated in a powerful voice before slamming his staff into the ground. The magic circles began to light up before shooting pillars of light into the ceiling, filling the room with a cool blue light.

Within the pillars, the shapes of monsters began to form, showing a wide variety of monsters most of the group would recognize.

"Oh, this is a surprise," a taller woman sitting in a chair stated, resting her cheek against a fist. "Why has the Mighty Endymion called this meeting?"

"Oh, geez, don't let the Amazoness Queen know I'm here!" Wade whispered, instantly hiding behind the other Duelists. "I don't wanna lose my street cred."

"My friends," Endymion stated to the group. "Today, the rumors have been confirmed true. My Citadel was attacked by the Wicked Gods. They have been released, and they have declared war." the gathered began to murmur among themselves, worry filling the room.

"That explains a lot," A purple robot wearing a scarf stated. "The Ancient Gears have recently began to power up again, and as we all know, they only come alive during a time of great crisis."

"It is as Junk Warrior says," Elemental Hero Neos called out. "Just the other day, the Sacred Beasts were stolen from their prison. This is indeed a great crisis."

"What are we to do?" A large Knight covered in gem lined armor asked. "We are not talking of some defeatable threat like L Swarm virus or Meklords. We are talking about Gods beyond Gods, creatures darker than night, and older than time itself."

"The so called 'Gods beyond Gods' have a weakness, Master Diamond!" Dark Magician called out. "The prophecy spoke of humans that will travel from the other side, armed with might to rival even the mightiest gods!"

"Are you saying---?" Junk Warrior started, before Endymion interrupted.

"Yes, we have such humans with us," Endymion motioned to the group of blank card wielders. "With them helping us, we can finally put an end to the threat of the Wicked Gods!"

The room was silent for a few minutes, tension looming in the air. Finally, one spoke up, a single orange robot wearing a yellow scarf spoke up.

"The Superheavy Samurais are in the debt of both the Gem-Knights and the Spellcaster clan. If they are going to war, we will stand by them as their steadfast shield," he stated. "However, as the leader of my clan, I must ask the humans a question,"

"Of course Benkei. Ask away," Endymion stated. The robot turned his gaze to the group of humans before asking.

"You all are our best and only hope for defeating the Wicked Gods. However, why do you fight? I rather not stand beside people with wavering motives."

DhJ7tvV.png

-The Moonlit Magician-

Citadel of Endymion

"To see the master of the citadel, Endymion."

"E-Endymion?" Daichi asked, seeing Haruto nod as he finally started to move away from the Gagaga Magician, allowing him to walk on his own.

As the two continued, they finally were reunited with Helena, Shiren, who were lead by Silent Magician, and Meiro, led by Blast Magician. And the moment they were ushered into the huge arching door, they seemed to be instantly in this huge room, complete with multitudes of magical circles and even many Duel Monster Spirits.

Out of the corner of Daichi's eye, he could see the group of the Gagaga Clan among the many parties here. He made a mental note to definitely thank them for their aid in saving him from Glaeris and the Avatar.

"However, as the leader of my clan, I must ask the humans a question."

Daichi was brought back into the world from his thoughts, quickly looking over at Benkei.

"You all are our best and only hope for defeating the Wicked Gods. However, why do you fight? I rather not stand beside people with wavering motives."

This question caught him off guard. Why was Daichi fighting? And furthermore, why was he even chosen to hold this Blank Card? Nevertheless, the Entertainment Duelist remained quiet...unable to give an answer.

"Quetzalcoatl?" Tycho asked, his skepticism pronounced.

"Izayoi is one not to be trifled with," Mokuba stated simply. "He possesses rare cards, and knows how to use them. On top of it all, he seems to be able to turn even a losing duel into victory. Quetzalcoatl was very specific when it said not to engage him unless absolutely necessary,"

DhJ7tvV.png

"well, it didn't seem to be much of a match. Are you doing alright?" Furiko asked the Izayoi.

The mystery Duelist turned to Furiko, nodding. "I am... although I could wish I could say the same for Mr. X. He seemed alright... even though he was slightly toasted..." He then turned to Aika.

"For that matter, I was kinda lookin' forward to seein' y'all in action, an' then there ain't even a duel to be heard of. What kinda deck y'all carryin' around?"

Although they couldn't see his face, they could tell he was smiling behind the hood. "Oh, it's just an old synchro deck of mine I scrapped together. Nothing too special." However, now he heard Hibiki speak.

"Please, Izayoi... You're not fooling anybody." Hibiki strode up to the duelist, glaring into his eyes with a predatory pupil. "Listen here, man... You try any of that crap with me, I'll sick all the snakes in my deck upon you, and you'll wish you'd never had the nerve to challenge another Psychic Duelist." He cackled rudely. "If you even make it far enough to face me. Or were you planning on causing everyone to crash before they could strike you?"

However, Izayoi wasn’t even phased, only shooting a response back. "Kid, you should back up now. You've heard of Sayer? Or the Black Rose Witch? Two pillars of the Arcadia Movement? I've faced them both, and am still alive. You and your snakes don't intimidate me."

DhJ7tvV.png

After speaking with Yuria and Eizar, Jay turned and left…

DhJ7tvV.png

Yugo gritted his teeth as Maggie took the first turn. The girl in response just gave Yugo a salute before drawing her cards.

"First, I activate the Spell Card Black Whirlwind!" She stated. "When I Normal Summon a Blackwing, I can add a Blackwing with less attack from the deck!"

"Seriously, in your opening hand? Crap," Yugo grumbled.

"So now I summon Shura, the Blue Flame from my hand!" She stated, summoning a tall, winged birdman. "Black Whirlwind activates, allowing me to add a monster from my deck! The monster I add is Breeze the Zephyr!" She reached into her deck, fishing out the card. "And when she's added to my hand by a card effect---,"

"You can summon her from your hand," Yugo finished, a small yellow birdgirl appearing on the field.

"Oh, come on, don't pout, Yugo," She stated with a laugh. "Because I'm not nearly done yet. When I control Blackwings other than Gale the Whirlwind and Bora the Spear, I can special summon them from my hand!" She stated as two more birdmen appeared on the field.

"Oh boy, both aces in the first turn? This'll be fun...," Yugo mumbled.

"And now I tune my Breeze and Zephyr together to create a new monster!" She said as the said monsters went through the summoning Ritual. "Darkened gales, become the wings which will soar to heavens! Synchro Summon! Level 7, Blackwing Armor Master!" From the rings appeared a large, muscular Blackwing, folding his arms as he floated by Maggie's D-Wheel.

"And that's not all!" She continued. "I now tune Gale and Bora together for a second Synchro Summon!" She smirked as she began to chant. "Spread your jet-black wings, and storm forth in tandem with the roaring thunder! A slash of lightning! Synchro Summon! Cascade, Assault Black Feather - Raikiri the Sudden Shower!"

Descending from the rings appeared another Blackwing, this one wielding a katana. "And with that, I end my turn! Can you keep up, Yugo?" She taunted.

Juri Lee watched intently at the high speed Duel before smiling. "Well there we have it! A flawless first turn coming from Ms. Maggie herself! Two Synchro Monsters out on the field, Armor Master and Raikiri!" she said, before looking down in Yugo's direction. "However, can Yugo combat these twin Blackwing monsters?"

Yugo just grinned in response. "Not only will I keep up, I'll outspeed ya!" He boasted as he reached into his deck. "My turn, draw!" He looked as his cards before making his play. "When I control no monsters, I can Special Summon Speedroid Terrortop from my hand, and when it's summoned, I can add a card from my deck to my hand!" He dug through his deck, smiling as he found what he wanted. "I added Speedroid Red Eyed Dice to my hand!"

"Oh, looks like you're going for a big play to," Maggie stated.

"You bet I am!" Yugo called out. "I now summon Speedroid Bamboo Horse from my hand! And as you know, when he's normal summoned, I can Special Summon a monster from my hand! The monster I will Special Summon is Red Eyed Dice!" The monsters swarmed the field rapidly, filling Yugo's side with toys.

"You can swarm as well as a skilled Blackwing player...," Maggie said as she shook her head.

"Don't blink yet, Maggie! I'm not done yet!" He said as he whipped around a turn, driving right next to his friend. "Red Eyed Dice allows me to change the level of one of my monsters from level 1 to 6. I change Terrortop to 6!" He smirked as he began to pull ahead. "And finally, if I control a Wind monster, which is my entire field, by the way, I can Special Summon Speedroid Taketomborg from my hand!" he explained. "Now to activate Taketomborg's effect! By tributing it, I can special summon a Speedroid Tuner from the deck, and the monster I choose is Speedroid Den-Den Daiko Duke!"

Maggie's eyes widen before she started to laugh. "Yugo, you're being such a copycat, you jerk!"

Yugo didn't say anything, instead raising his hand over his head. "I now tune my Duke with Bamboo Horse!" He smiled as he began to summon. ""Spread those glorious wings, and go supersonic! Break every speed barrier! Synchro Summon! Level 7, Clear Wing Fast Dragon!" The bulky dragon from before landed besides Yugo.

"I'm not done yet!" Yugo called out. "I now tune my Red Eyed Dice with Terrortop for my second Synchro Summon!" The two began to synch together, before Yugo chanted. ""Spread those wondrous and beautiful wings, and strike down your enemies at the speed of light! Synchro Summon! Appear now! Level 7, Clear Wing Synchro Dragon!"

A thinner dragon that looked eeriely similar to Fast Dragon landed, the two dragons roaring in unison at the birds. Yugo smirked at Maggie. "Let's see which pair of aces will triumph!!"

-The Starry Experiment-

Fortune Cup

"I'm not in pain through an entire duel after summoning something, though. Also...without my glasses, I can't really see even decently with my remaining eye. Can you find and hand me my glasses? After you give me my glasses, close the door. You and I need to have a talk and I don't want others overhearing."

Jet only nodded, moving to close the door as he saw Kuria's glasses on a nearby table. He quickly grabbed them and handed them to Kuria, before sitting down beside the Duelist.

"Alright...what are we talking about, Kuria?" Jet asked, curious to what Kuria could want.

Xvignette_zps578dff7a.png

Meanwhile, Aichi watched the new Duel in the tournament going on with Yugo Fudo and Maggie Hogan. However, all the while his face was in a bright, twisted grin. Out of all the participants in this tournament...he never for a second thought these two would make their appearances.

"Seems like we'll be getting more research after all through this..." Aichi mumbled, as he tapped away at his tablet.

While she had tried to dissuade the white haired man, his attention seemed to shift over to Izayoi. Thinking that the man was holding out on them, especially as he told them he only had an old synchro deck to come through the tournament with, Hibiki was attempting to pressure the man into revealing whatever it was he was hiding. However, the older man did not seem to back down in the face of the psychic duelist, throwing out names that she didn't quite recognize, but which Hibiki likely did. They too were likely psychic duelists, ones of likely large power, and it only made Furiko even more curious about the man. However, while curious, she hadn't asked him and instead had her attention turned towards the monitor. Seeing that Yugo was up to bat, she looked to the others and said,"well, let's leave the threats for on the field. There's another duel going on and I think it'd be best to go watch that instead for now."

As such, she turned to look at the monitor and watch the explosive beginning between the two synchro players. Both mirroring each other's plays, despite their different decks, and both opening with a rather similar board. She was familiar with Blackwings, due to the fame of one such user known as Crow Hogan in the past, yet she hadn't ever seen this Raikiri before. Then, there was Yugo who brought out two dragons, nearly identical in appearance and name. She couldn't help but feel enamored at the glistening green wings of the white dragon, and there was even some sort of odd feeling that she had been getting from elsewhere. She couldn't quite place it, but it also felt as though there were a pulse coming from her deck itself, though, when her eyes drifted down to the deck case, it seemed to settle down.

poPa93w.png?1

"Pleasure to meet you then, Valeria." As she greeted her, she snapped her fingers in realization saying, "right, that's where I saw you." Zephine proceeded to give the girl the rest of her cards, helping her reassemble her deck in its entirety. As Valeria thanked her, she said, "no probs, Val. Happy to help a fella out. Besides, can't wait to see how they do in that action you wanna show 'em in." Thinking back to the brackets she then said, "but man, it's a damn shame you know. I won't be able to see 'em in person unless we get to the semi-finals." She then shrugged saying, "ah well, guess that's life for ya. Just gotta wait then I s'pose."

Looking back to what she was now referring to as her new found friend, she asked, "so there Val, whatcha got on the agenda for now? Duel's a long ways away, and wandering by your lonesome is probs a bit borin' right?" Hearing the roaring crowd, she followed with, "though, I s'pose that there's always a duel going on to watch so there's that." But, with a smile on her face, she turned back to Valeria asking, "so, whatcha wanna do for now, Val?"

~Miero's POV~

“Pardon me, sir.” Miero lifted his head, breaking his thoughts as he turned towards the source of the voice to his left, seeing the Blast Magician beside him. “I request you follow me. Master Endymion is waiting.”

"...Endymion," he questioned more to himself before turning towards where he last saw Vantoase, though he soon noticed the lack of swirling winds around him after seeing that the Wind Spirit was nowhere around him. Shaking his head, Miero ran up to catch up with the Magician before keeping pace with him.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The point of the staff resting upon the ground, Miero looked around at the various monsters around him, doing his best to keep a straight face as they gathered in various ways. He almost jolted as Wade decided to hide behind them, though mostly behind himself, due to being one if not the tallest human of the group. "Godsdamn, what haven't you done yet," he muttered to himself as he shifted his weight to stand more straight as the meeting of monsters began.
Though he did tense up a little, the hand holding up his staff gripping tighter than he meant to, upon suddenly that the spotlight upon himself and the others that had those Blank cards on them.
"However, why do you fight? I rather not stand beside people with wavering motives." Upon being asked the question, Miero closed his eyes, thinking of how to answer that question, before opening his mouth and becoming the first to respond.
"At first, it was not supposed to be myself, but my father standing where I am now. One could say I 'inherited' his responsibilities upon his passing away. However, I ended up acquiring a more personal stake in this as of recent." He almost snarled the word 'personal' as he spoke, a line echoing through his mind as he lowered his head.
Come on, pathetic human. Fight me! Don’t you want to save your boy?! Or do you WANT him to become the great Eraser’s host?!
"While the bastards have my son, it's hard for me to fight effectively...at risk of the child inheriting the Blank I in turn gained from my own father in addition to the deck linked with it, if I end up..."
Both of his white-gloved hands held around the center of the staff and twisting it tight in opposing directions as he kept his eyes shut, a look of wounded aggravation appeared on his face. He was trying not to lose even more composure than he was sure he already had as the thought of that Eraser using whatever form the Blank finally took shape as in the form of his young son crossed his mind before continuing to speak in a low volume. "...if my son is saved from that damned Eraser, I would be more than willing to do what's needed to stop them. Until then...I can't afford to face that particular entity..."
iU8EggM.png
~Kuria's POV~
"Alright...what are we talking about, Kuria?"
Looking back up towards the ceiling for a moment, Kuria released a deep breath through his nose before looking back up towards Jet, careful to keep the emptyeye sockett closed. "What would it take to get you out of that hellhole? If you need to get away, I wouldn't mind letting you stay at my place." A smirk appeared on his face, Kuria continued. "I was able to afford the cybernetics with more than just my insurance, after all. I could easily help you out."
Then, suddenly, Kuria's face straightened out, the turquoise-colored living eye looking through his glasses to focus on Jet. "It's more than f*cked up the hand you were dealt in this life, and from one orphan to another, that's not something I could just sit on my hands about." Narrowing his open eye on this at Jet, Kuria continued. "And don't bother telling me that getting you out of your captors' grasp can't happen, I tend to get creative when I want to."
"Oh, it's just an old synchro deck of mine I scrapped together. Nothing too special."
"Please, Izayoi... You're not fooling anybody. Listen here, man... You try any of that crap with me, I'll sick all the snakes in my deck upon you, and you'll wish you'd never had the nerve to challenge another Psychic Duelist. If you even make it far enough to face me. Or were you planning on causing everyone to crash before they could strike you?"
Aika was about to step into what all was happening between the men. Before she got her chance, however, Akaryuu dropped a comeback that left Aika's jaw hanging in disbelief.
"Kid, you should back up now. You've heard of Sayer? Or the Black Rose Witch? Two pillars of the Arcadia Movement? I've faced them both, and am still alive. You and your snakes don't intimidate me."
He ain't serious. No way. Aika was no history expert, but in the interest of figuring out more of what being a psychic herself had entailed, Aika had made a point to study  up on psychic duelists of times since past once she moved to Cradle. Akaryuu was dropping some mighty big names right now, and Furiko seemed completely oblivious to them. The smaller girl nudged Furiko's arm, and leaned in to whisper "This guy's a big deal if he ain't bluffin'. Really big." as the duel between Yugo and Maggie began. Their decks were fast. Very fast. Both players had summoned two hotshot ace monsters on the first turn! Stormlets weren't even remotely capable of that kind of speed. Maybe if I change up how I'm buildin' the deck...
"So y'all took two of the Arcadia Movement's finest?" Aika inquired, turning her attention back to Akaryuu. There was investigating to do. "That's really somethin'. I'd love hearin' more 'bout it, but Furiko an' I should probably go get to know the other competitors. Ain't that right?" Leaning in to whisper again, Aika added to Furiko specifically, "We should ask Mr. X about his accident; I ain't never seen a psychic that can just crash a D-Wheel like that. Somethin's fishy 'bout all this I reckon."
Ovb3a73.png
"Pleasure to meet you then, Valeria."
"Likewise." The Zephine girl then went on about seeing the Cursed Arms cards in action, and how seeing them in person would have to wait for the semifinals if they both made it. If you make it to the semifinals, then by all means, Valeria thought.
"So there Val, whatcha got on the agenda for now? Duel's a long ways away, and wandering by your lonesome is probs a bit borin' right? Though, I s'pose that there's always a duel going on to watch so there's that. So, whatcha wanna do for now, Val?"
Valeria smiled. She wasn't really used to being called "Val" by others, let alone someone she'd just met. It was something she'd always kind of wanted to hear, but never really spoke up about. Not to mention this girl was just overwhelmingly friendly. Valeria had somewhat expected her competition to be a lot less high-spirited than this. It was refreshing.
"I was thinking of getting some food actually. I overslept a bit this morning and didn't have time to get breakfast on the way. Care to join me?"
Helena followed Silent Magician with Shiren close behind her, she remained quiet around Silent Magician all the way to the large meeting room where Endymion, Maho, and a bunch of other powerful looking monsters were waiting for the three duelists. On closer inspection, Helena could make out Phantom Falcon and Dread Knight behind Endymion, along with someone who looked like a dark magician like Maho.
The meeting room was very tense, the wicked gods really have caused an uproar. Ancient Gears were waking up, the sacred beasts have vanished, and there was still the threat of the third wicked god who may be hiding in the human world, Helena's head was starting to pound from all this.
"You all are our best and only hope for defeating the Wicked Gods. However, why do you fight? I rather not stand beside people with wavering motives." Helena looked up at the Superheavy Samurai who had asked this question, what was she fighting for? She thought for a long moment, long enough for Meiro and Daichi to answer the machine type. The small headache she was getting wasn't helping her think and tiny sparks started to come from her eye, she really should've covered her eye, to lose control here of all places, that would be... That would be...
Helena felt a hand touch her shoulder, she looked up to see Shiren beside her. "Stay calm... You can't lose yourself so easily..." Shiren's presence was almost calming, soothing even. The aura she gave off was so familiar, almost like.... Chris...
Helena looked back at the machine type, she took a candy from her pocket and popped it into her mouth, the sparks around her eye slowly faded. She took a deep breath and proceeded to answer his question.
"Well... When I received my blank, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I honestly had almost given up on dueling in the first place because of my... Condition... A letter from my brother gave me a spark of confidence... That maybe I could take control of my fate.
If you asked me before, I would probably say it was just a way of fighting my insanity. But now, now that I know that there's more at stake here, that this Spirit World is truly real and full of living things, its something I have to protect along with my world, not just for me, but for my brother..." A small smile could be seen on Shiren's face.
Hibiki visibly prickled as Akaryuu shot back at him, sweeping a hand through the air as if to strike the man's words to the ground. "Izayoi Aki was a failure to the Arcadia Movement and a failure of a duelist, you ass!" he yelled, a sneer creeping back into his face. "But then, if that Izayoi was, I suppose the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree for THIS one... if you need to resort to crashing X's D-Wheel to win here in this tournament."
"If you feel like actually facing a Psychic Duelist worthy of a challenge, call me up anytime." Hibiki turned and grinned sickly at Furiko. "Same for you, girlie."
"Now, I'm out of here, losers... I have to prepare for my duel next. Not that I'll need to." Hibiki turned from the group, beginning to walk away before he noticed Furiko was watching the television with a certain interest. He turned to see that Yugo kid on the screen, and he chuckled. "Ah, yes... I hope he makes it through to the next round... He'll be a wonderful chew toy before I get to you, Izayoi! Or were you planning on actually dueling that Jet kid and risking a loss?"
Tycho frowned as Mokuba went on. Rare cards? Kuriboh perked up as the explanation was doled out to Tycho. That sounded very much like the Gods Tycho searched for.
"Mokuba," he said slowly, taking a chance. "There's a chance that Izayoi holds the power that is responsible for the desecration and ruin of my home. A very real chance, if these rare cards are what you speak of." He turned away, voice low and bitter. "I've struggled for years to fight against this power I didn't even know loomed over Hearthome... And now I find it almost in my grasp!"
He turned back to the man. "Mokuba, please, I need to know all the things you do about Izayoi. What you're not telling me. I assure you, I wouldn't ask if it wasn't truly important to me." Tycho's eyes were resolute, face solemn, his level gaze full of desperation for what the man could tell him.
"Well, guess we can scratch Jay off the list of suspects," Eizar stated in relief. He does wish that he could've learned more about him, learned more about the future. 'I'll ask him more about it next time we meet, right now we have to get back to Blues.' He then looked back to Yuria with a smile. “Let’s go tell Blues that Jay isn’t a threat and the other things we’ve learned.” With that they started making their way back to the meeting room. He put his hand on the doorknob, looking back only to notice Yuria disappeared. ‘Hm, that’s strange,’ he thought to himself and shrugged. ‘Guess she went off to find the others. Wish she were here to help with the report though,’
“We’re, well I’m, back from the assignment.” Eizar announced. “So, the good news is Jay doesn’t seem to be looking for trouble,” he began. “The bad news is that he confirmed Akaryuu to be a bad guy. In fact he’s apparently the catalyst to a future where machines ruled, according to Jay. I don’t understand how he knows that outside of the possibility that he’s a time traveller. He... mentioned the Meklords and how they’re working with him.”
  • 2 weeks later...
Yugo: 8000
Maggie: 8000
"Time to rev it up, Maggie!" Yugo called out as he pointed at Armor Master."I activate Clear Wing Fast Dragon's effect! I can negate the effect of a monster from the Extra Deck and reduce its attack to zero! Sealing Sound Cannon!" Clear Wing Fast opened its mouth, firing a beam that weaken the muscle bird man. "Now, Clear Wing Synchro Dragon attacks Armor Master! Helldive Slasher of Whirlwind!" Clear Wing Sybchro roared as it began to charge at Armor Master, corkscrewing through the air and penetrating it, causing it to explode.
Maggie: 5500
"And now, I activate the Spell Card Hi-Speed Re-Level!" Yugo called out. "By banishing a Speedroid from my graveyard, I can increase a Synchro Monster attack by 500 times the level! I choose to banish my level 3 Taketomborg to increase Clear Wing Fast by 1500!" The dragon roared as its attack rose to 4000. "And now, he attacks Raikiri!" Clear Wing Fast vanished, suddenly reappearing behind its target, which exploded.
Maggie: 3100
"And with that, I end my turn!"
Maggie sighed as she drew her next card, but that sigh quickly turned into a smirk. "When I control no monsters, I can Special Summon from my hand the tuner monster Blackwing - Gofu the Vague Shadow!" On the field appeared what appeared to be smoke in the shape of a bird. "When this card is Special Summoned, I can Special Summon two Vague Shadow Tokens!" Yugo's eyes narrowed as he watched this play.
"I've never seen this monster before. Looks like you've been improving to, Maggie," He muttered.
"You bet I am," She said with a smile. "Gofu is no ordinary tuner. This monster allows me to do a Phantom Synchro!"
"Phantom... Synchro?" Yugo repeated, confusion etched on his face.
"That's right! You see, instead of a normal Synchro Summon, I banish these monsters, and resurrect a monster from my Graveyard!" She announced.
"From the Graveyard?!" Yugo called out in complete shock. Maggie just raised her hand in the air as all the monsters on her field were banished.
Hope Rides Again
"Darkened gales, become the wings which will soar to heavens! Phantom Synchro! Rise from your grave, Blackwing Armor Master!" The muscular bird reappeared on the field, folding his arms. "That's not all I'm doing though!" She called out. "I normal summon the level one monster Blackwing-Jetstream the Blue Sky!" A red headed bird fluttered onto the field, landing on Armor Master's shoulder. "And finally, I'm synchro summoning again!"
"How?!" Yugo called out. "None of your monsters are tuners!"
"A monster summoned by Gofu's effect becomes a tuner!" Maggie countered. "Now, I tune my level 7 Armor Master with my level 1 Jetstream!" She smiled as she held up her hand. "Just watch me now, grandpa...,"
Feathered Darkness from the Past!
"Darkened gales, become the wings that soar from resolved hope! Synchro Summon! Soar, Black-Winged Dragon!" From the synchro rings descended a black dragon with feathers, the wings having red tips. It looked vaguely like a Blackwing had morphed into a Dragon. "Say hello to my grandpa's Signer Dragon!!"
"Izayoi Aki was a failure to the Arcadia Movement and a failure of a duelist, you ass!" he yelled, a sneer creeping back into his face. "But then, if that Izayoi was, I suppose the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree for THIS one... if you need to resort to crashing X's D-Wheel to win here in this tournament." Akaryuu stared at Hibiki as he left, quiet until the Physic Duelist spoke up again. "Ah, yes... I hope he makes it through to the next round... He'll be a wonderful chew toy before I get to you, Izayoi! Or were you planning on actually dueling that Jet kid and risking a loss?" Akaryuu looked over at the screen and saw Yugo on the screen.
"Of course I'm going to fight Jet. I have no idea what makes you think I crashed Mr. X's D-Wheel, but I've been itching for a duel. And that Jet kid... interests me," He then looked over to Hibiki. "Also, trying to get under my skin by insulting Izayoi won't work. However, try doing that to Yugo. He gets angry when people insult his grandma," He advised. Suddenly, his deck began to glow, causing Izayoi to look down. Looking back to the screen, he saw Black Winged Dragon. "... So that's where it went... I should have known," He muttered.
If Aika and Furiko did decide to see Mr. X, they would find him in the medical wing. They could see clumps of his hair were burnt off, and his leg was broken. He would look up at the two, his cybernetic eye glowing an intimidating red. "What do you two want?" He'd snap.
"Mokuba," the said man looked up as Tycho addressed him. "There's a chance that Izayoi holds the power that is responsible for the desecration and ruin of my home. A very real chance, if these rare cards are what you speak of." He turned away, voice low and bitter. "I've struggled for years to fight against this power I didn't even know loomed over Hearthome... And now I find it almost in my grasp!"
He turned back to the man. "Mokuba, please, I need to know all the things you do about Izayoi. What you're not telling me. I assure you, I wouldn't ask if it wasn't truly important to me." Tycho's eyes were resolute, face solemn, his level gaze full of desperation for what the man could tell him. Mokuba sighed, but nodded.
"Izayoi has a monster lurking in his deck, one that Quetzalcoatl refers to as 'The Black Magician'. It has both a human and a dragon form, and it is not to be trifled with. This monster has the potential to take down the Gods...," He says before he turns away. "I've told you all that I could. Also... I'd watch out for that Yugo boy. Whether you know it or not... he is in cahoots with Izayoi. If you want to save your town, you better make sure the ones that are attempting to help don't fall apart from a traitor," With that, Mokuba walked away, disappearing into the crowd.
Blues watched the screen with extreme interest as he saw Maggie summon her dragon. "That's the real deal," He muttered. "Not a copy... the actual Signer Dragon...," Hearing Eizar come in, he turned to look at him.
“We’re, well I’m, back from the assignment.” Eizar announced. “So, the good news is Jay doesn’t seem to be looking for trouble,” he began.“The bad news is that he confirmed Akaryuu to be a bad guy. In fact he’s apparently the catalyst to a future where machines ruled, according to Jay. I don’t understand how he knows that outside of the possibility that he’s a time traveler. He... mentioned the Meklords and how they’re working with him.”
"Time travel?" Blues muttered. "Uncommon, but not unheard of...," He looked back at the screen. "sheet, first the Wicked Gods, then the Sacred Beasts, and now Meklords? What's next, the funking Earthbound Immortals?" He turned to Eizar. "Gather everyone back. We have to have them all report, ASAP."
Benkei was unmoving as he waited for an answer from the group.
"Well... When I received my blank, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I honestly had almost given up on dueling in the first place because of my... Condition... A letter from my brother gave me a spark of confidence... That maybe I could take control of my fate.If you asked me before, I would probably say it was just a way of fighting my insanity. But now, now that I know that there's more at stake here, that this Spirit World is truly real and full of living things, its something I have to protect along with my world, not just for me, but for my brother..." Helena explained.
Benkei simply nodded before looking at Meiro.
"At first, it was not supposed to be myself, but my father standing where I am now. One could say I 'inherited' his responsibilities upon his passing away. However, I ended up acquiring a more personal stake in this as of recent. While the bastards have my son, it's hard for me to fight effectively...at risk of the child inheriting the Blank I in turn gained from my own father in addition to the deck linked with it, if I end up ...if my son is saved from that damned Eraser, I would be more than willing to do what's needed to stop them. Until then...I can't afford to face that particular entity..."
Benkei finally looked at Daichi, but seeing as he would not speak, he looked back to Endymion.
"The Superheavy Samurais will be there in the hour," He turned to look at all the other leaders. "I implore you all to join with us. We need all the power we can gather," It was quiet for a few seconds before Junk Warrior spoke up.
"We will all join you in arms," he stated, with the other leaders agreeing.
"Thank you my friends," Endymion nodded as the lights died down, the room going dark for a few seconds before candles lit on the walls. Endymion turned to look at the group of humans. "You must be hungry. Come. We will feast tonight!"
Soon, the humans were directed to a giant room where there was a huge table laid out with all kinds of food. Wade was quick to jump into a chair, grabbing food. There was many opened seats for people to sit at. Dark Magician took a seat as well, with Stardust sitting in the corner of a room, munching at meat. Buster Blader sat next to Stardust, with Buster Whelp nipping at Stardust's food.
Now would be a good time to rest and start figuring out their next move.
-The Moonlit Magician-
~Citadel of Endymion~
One by one, Daichi heard what his fellow teammates said in response to Benkei's question...and yet, he stood there in silence, still contemplating the question. He remained silent until the speaking resumed.
"The Superheavy Samurais will be there in the hour. I implore you all to join with us. We need all the power we can gather,"
"We will all join you in arms,"
"Thank you my friends, You must be hungry. Come. We will feast tonight!"
They were soon directed towards a huge room complete with a huge table with a spread of food as far as the eye could see. Daichi walked into the room, preparing to sit down, but Haruto quickly grabbed his shoulder. "Hmm? Haruto?"
"Dai...is everything alright?" Haruto asked, with a serious look on his face.
"Y-Yeah. Just got a lot on my mind right now." Daichi said, giving off a weak smile.
"Is whatever on your mind the reason you couldn't answer Benkei?" he asked, seeing Daichi looking away some in a quick manner. "That's what I figured." Haruto let go of Daichi's shoulder before nodding. "Go on and eat, Daichi. We can talk later." With that, Haruto moved away from Daichi and headed to where the Gagagas were currently residing at.
What did he mean by that? Daichi wondered, before shrugging and finally sitting down. It had been a rough day today, even more so than before. Two Wicked Gods were being dealt with today, and he lost to Glaeris...and was no step closer to reaching Rinko. Not only this...but Benkei's question was putting everything he thought he was doing into question.
Why was he fighting? Originally Daichi was doing it fight new Duelists and to show off his prowess as an Action Duelist. He never once thought things would end up in the situation they had...that he would lose a Duel Spirit. Now...now he didn't know why he was fighting. Was it just to settle a score with Glaeris and save Rinko? He wasn't sure...but the question just laid heavily on his mind as he ate.
"What would it take to get you out of that hellhole? If you need to get away, I wouldn't mind letting you stay at my place. I was able to afford the cybernetics with more than just my insurance, after all. I could easily help you out."
Jet was left speechless, staring at Kuria for a good moment. He was...trying to help him? But why? Before he could finally speak, Kuria continued.
"It's more than f*cked up the hand you were dealt in this life, and from one orphan to another, that's not something I could just sit on my hands about. And don't bother telling me that getting you out of your captors' grasp can't happen, I tend to get creative when I want to."
He stayed his tongue, his hands clutching his leg some. From what Jet could tell, he was dead serious. Which kept him silent the entire time. H-He doesn't even know me...why? Why the hell...? he thought, before his thoughts finally escaped his mouth.
"Why...why the hell would you go to bat for someone you hardly even know?!" he said, starting to raise his voice. It was confusing to him...no one would've done this for him before.
"Darkened gales, become the wings that soar from resolved hope! Synchro Summon! Soar, Black-Winged Dragon!"
Upon seeing this, Dr. Aichi's eyes went wide as a grin creeped across his face. "Black-Winged Dragon..." he said, before letting out a small chuckle. "Crow Hogan...should've only known that your Signer Dragon was still living."
Once more, he began to type away at his tablet. "Another glorious subject for research. Watching this beautiful monster working in real time may help with the other subjects."
Helena listened as everyone else spoke, it seemed that the leader monsters were all in agreement, everyone needed to do their part if the wicked gods were to be stopped.
"Thank you my friends, You must be hungry. Come. We will feast tonight!" Endymion welcomed everyone to a large feast, after all that has happened it was nice to finally get some rest. Helena got her food and went to the farthest seat, away from everyone else.
"You can't do this forever you know... You need to socialize more." Shiren stated. "The last person I socialized with was later sent to the hospital... I don't want to hurt anyone else..." Helena said with a gloomy expression. Shiren sighed and let Helena have her alone time, she had to help her somehow.
Shiren wandered over to Buster Blader and Stardust Dragon. "Buster Blader... Stardust Dragon... Its an honor to meet such powerful spirits." She said bowing her head. "I'm Shiren, Paladin from the Dark Below... Unfamiliar I'm sure... But I assure you I'm nicer than my appearance would suggest... I wouldn't say the same about the other residents of the Dark..."
As Furiko continued to watch the duel progress, she continued to carefully watch the two dragons that Yugo had summoned. The two seemed to work in perfect harmony as, with a little more aid from Yugo, they managed to slash through both of the Black Wings with relative ease. While she was eager to keep watching to see what else these strange dragons had in store, her thoughts were soon interrupted as Aika had walked over to her and said that they had to get going. "O-oh, yeah. Apologies, but we have to get going now." With that, the two of them made their exit, only for Aika to whisper to her about going to see X next. Nodding, she said, "sounds like a good idea."
With that, the duo had made their way over to where Mr. X was being held, seeing that he was rather banged up. When his eye had flared up at the two, he seemed none too pleased to have visitors, though she couldn't really blame him about that. "Well," she started, "we were just going around meeting all of the other duelists in the tournament. Though, I wish it could've been on better terms than this." Looking a bit concerned at the shape of the man's body she asked, "would you be able to tell us what happened?"
As Val seemed to enjoy the idea of spending time with her, Zephine's smile did not wane. With a pumped expression on her face, Zephine pointed to herself, saying, "please are ya kiddin' me. I am always in the mood for food." With that, the girls started to walk off to the nearest eatery to get their food.
After having made her great escape, Hanae had simply seen fit to sitting down and relaxing in the stands. She watched the match that was playing out before her, seeing it between that Yugo kid that was part of her crew and some girl with some spiky hair. As the two let loose their opening moves, Hanae looked at the two decks, already knowing that this was not gonna be a very long duel. However, as the Yugo boy brought out his two Synchro Dragons, she couldn't help but feel somewhat strange looking at them. Opening her deck box out, she looked to see the ones that she had in her deck, her Fusion Dragons. Thinking more on it, she had never seen ones quite like it before, and wondered if these "Synchro" dragons were related to them. While this simple curiosity passed through her, she looked at the one fusion dragon in particular, and then back to Fast Dragon. If it was what she thought it was, then this duel was likely to get a whole lot more interesting.
She then watched as the two dragons managed to slash the tengus apart, only for the blackwing user to still keep things going. "Phantom Synchro, eh?" The deck certainly had a lot of ways to keep their synchro board going, especially as the girl managed to turn one of her monsters into a tuner at that. As the girl brought out the black-feathered dragon, Hanae couldn't help her eyes going wide in surprise. That was a card only ever used by a dueling champion of a few generations back, and was practically an ace of his at that. While she never thought the dragon itself was all that threatening, the man's use of it had always seemed to be pretty inventive and that was where its power came from. Interested in what this "Maggie" had in store, Hanae continued to watch the duel closely.
Tycho's gaze was rapt on Mokuba as the man explained himself, explained the power the man Akaryuu Izaoyoi held in his deck. "The Black Magician..." he mused, and he felt Kuriboh, hidden behind his back, shaking at the sound of the name. Tycho nodded. "I see... The power to take down the Gods..."
Does that mean Izayoi doesn't have the Wicked Gods? Then he's not a threat to me. His eyes narrowed. But his Black Magician IS a threat to the Gods!
It was only when Mokuba mentioned Yugo that his musings were shattered. Tycho blinked, looking at Mokuba in shock. "What?!" he demanded, towering over the man. "Yugo knows Izayoi? Are they allied?" Mokuba was walking into the crowd, not speaking to him. "Mokuba!" No response.
Tycho swore loudly, slamming a fist into the wall with a loud bang. Kuriboh crept back into sight, looking worried, knowing what was next from the look of grim determination on Tycho's face.
"Izayoi..." He muttered, turning and striding down the hallway, scowling. Kuriboh hurried after him, loudly crying at him to try and get him to stop as he began his search for the mysterious duelist. "I need his Black Magician!" He bitterly looked at a screen showcasing the duel as he passed it, Yugo's face plastered across it as he ordered Clear Wing to destroy Raikiri. "I'll take Black Magician... and I'll do it without you, Yugo, or anyone else!"
"What do you two want?"
Sounds like someone ain't takin' his loss so well. Not that I'd blame him. Perhaps it was for the better that Furiko spoke first, probably in an attempt to break the ice. Aika was never good at that sort of stuff; she'd just blurt out whatever, and that wasn't what they needed right now.
"Well, we were just going around meeting all of the other duelists in the tournament. Though, I wish it could've been on better terms than this. Would you be able to tell us what happened?"
"Me an' Furiko here suspect Akaryuu Izayoi's a psychic duelist," Aika aided. "Dang powerful one at that. We were a lil' concerned with yer crash, and wanted to find out if that's the case, or if somethin' a bit more sinister's brewin' round this here tournament. An' for that matter, if you'll be okay." Although figuring out the mystery with Akaryuu was definitely her top priority right now, Aika would be lying if she said she wasn't at all concerned about Mr. X's health and injuries. Even on the screen, that looked like one nasty crash, so Aika had trouble properly imagining how it must have been to experience it for oneself.
"Please are ya kiddin' me. I am always in the mood for food."
"That sounds like a challenge," Valeria replied. Eating contests...were not Valeria's forte. She could eat big if she passed up on a few meals, but never on a contest level. Her next statement reflected that. "You'd probably win though, if you were looking for an eating contest. Not to say you're overweight or anything! I've just always been a light eater is all." That was very close to being very awkward for her. And with that, the girls were off to locate the nearest eatery. And what they found...
iU8EggM.png
"Can I take your order?"
The smiles of fast food employees always bothered Valeria. They didn't feel genuine to her; like they were puppets being forced to smile. The odd tradition of putting a smile on the menu for free never helped the impression she got from it. However, the food was cheap and filled a person up rather well for the price. Which was good; Valeria had every intent of covering Zephine's bill, so it was best that she wound up somewhere cheap. "One hamburger, a small fry and drink, and...whatever she's having." To note which she Valeria meant, she nodded her head in Zephine's direction. This wasn't how she expected to spend the time before her first tournament match, though she preferred this to whatever alternative she couldn't quite think of.
At least in this situation, she got to have a friendly chat with somebody over some food. Overall, a pretty good start to things.
~Miero's POV~
Miero could barely eat, his stomach was rebelling the idea of it despite the past while leaving him utterly drained of energy. Now, it wasn't like he wasn't trying to eat. But every time he tried to bring food to his mouth, the thought of his son possibly starving or being forced to eat what could not pass for food made him feel too queasy to eat.
After the sixth time of trying to get something in himself to try to maintain some level of strength, he just pushed his plate away from him, resting his elbows on the table while resting his face in his white-gloved hands. "I can't even make myself eat, knowing they have him," he muttered to himself, the tears that escaped from his eyes being caught on the fabric of the gloves.
He knew it wasn't smart for him to not eat, to not keep his strength up, but the emotional recoil from what the Eraser mentioned, and proved by revealing his son's full name, was still hitting him hard enough to make logic get thrown out the window...
~~~~~~~~~~~~

~Kuria's POV~

"Why...why the hell would you go to bat for someone you hardly even know?!"

"Why do I need a reason?" Now it was Kuria's turn to look at Jet in confusion. "What I've been seeing from you up until now has been that of a child that had his childhood unfairly robbed from him in the worst of ways."

"Darkened gales, become the wings that soar from resolved hope!"

"Now," Kuria continued to speak through the second half of the summon chant, fully paying attention to the duel displaying on the television in his room. "I can't unwind the past, but I could possibly help you out in other ways. There's no telling what these fucks will do to you once they're done with you."

Turning his attention towards the screen finally, Kuria found himself studying the black-feathered dragon before glancing momentarily towards what looked like a brown deckcase attached to a black leather belt. "Black-Winged Dragon, Stardust Dragon, Ancient Fairy Dragon, Black Rose Dragon, Red Dragon Archfiend, Lifestream Dragon...would you believe me if I said I've only found one monster card for each of those six? No variants?" He then looked up towards the TV once more in thought. "Despite this, I see cards like your Stardust Spark Dragon and my Ancient Pixie Dragon, cards that do not show in any database unless used in a duel and only for the duel machines that need it. It's a puzzle I've been wondering about since I found it in my deck after I woke up from getting my arm and eye first installed..."

Suddenly, Kuria winced as his left arm started twitching. "sheet, sheet, worst time for that itch to start back up." In a note of desperation, he brought his forearm to where the cybernetic arm connected to the rest of him, scratching his forearm against the metal still in his shoulder, a testament to how sturdy the machinations were.

If Jet were watching that arm as Kuria pulled it back after the odd way of scratching it, he would see the extremely faint traces of a very familiar mark where he had been trying to scratch...

Maggie stared down the duel dragons. There wasn't too much she could do here. She shook her head, and set a card facedown. "And I end my turn," She stated. Yugo nodded and drew his card. It wasn't going to help him at the moment, so he decided to move on.

"Clear Wing Fast Dragon attacks!" He called out as he pointed. The dragon roared and charged. "And now I---,"

"You triggered my trap card!" Maggie called out. "Blazing Mirror Force! It destroys all the Attack Position monsters on your side on the field, and burns us both equal to half of their combined attack!" Yugo gritted his teeth as he watched as a wall of fire appeared in front of Black-Winged Dragon, which exploded, engulfing the twin Clear Wings and rushing out to Yugo, burning him for 2500.

Yugo: 5500

He watched as the flames went to Maggie... however, instead of burning her, Black-Winged Dragon absorbed the flames. "You didn't forget, did you Yugo? When I would take effect damage, Black Winged Dragon instead puts a counter on itself!" She said with a grin. Yugo sighed and looked ahead.

"You're doing amazingly with a Signer Dragon," Yugo stated. "Anyways, when Clear Wing Fast is destroyed, I can set him on my Pendulum Scale!" He stated as he moved his monster from the graveyard to the Pendulum Zone. "Main Phase two! I Normal Summon Speedroid Ohajikid! When he's Normal Summoned, I can Special Summon a tuner from either graveyard! Then one I choose is Speedroid Den-Den Daiko Duke!" The tuner reappeared on the field. "Now, I Synchro Summon! Magical sword with the form of a cross. Use your power to rend all enemies! Synchro Summon! Appear now! Level 6! High-Speedroid Magical Sword Dama!" a machine appeared on the field, staring down Black-Winged Dragon.

"Amazing! Despite his monsters being destroyed, Yugo managed to get a monster back on the field!" Juri Lee called. "But he used his battle phase, and that monster is weaker anyways... what is he---?"

"I now activate the effect of Den-Den Daiko Duke in my graveyard!" Yugo called out. "I can banish it to summon a tuner from my hand or from the graveyard! I summon Red Eyed Die from my graveyard!" He smiled as he looked at his field. "Maggie, you showed me something amazing with your Phantom Synchro," He complimented. "Now, let me show you my secret weapon. Pendulum Synchro! I can Synchro Summon Clear Wing Fast Dragon form the Pendulum Zone!"

"Pendulum Synchro?!" She called out. Yugo raised his hand into the air.

"Shining wings, deliver divine speed and illuminate Heaven and Earth! Pierce the past and future with fleet wings! Pendulum Synchro! Level 7, Clear Wing Fast Dragon!" He grinned as he watched the dragon fly out of the pendulum zone, the synchro rings guiding it back to the field. "And with that, I end my turn!"

Yuria groaned to herself. She wanted to find a little more than what she and Eizar found out, so she went off on her own. She hadn't found anything so far. However... a strange man in a cloak appeared in front of her.

"What do you want?" She snapped at him.

"... Your soul," They answered back as they pulled out a card.

"Well," the one that fought the Duel King started, "we were just going around meeting all of the other duelists in the tournament. Though, I wish it could've been on better terms than this." Looking a bit concerned at the shape of the man's body she asked, "would you be able to tell us what happened?"

"Me an' Furiko here suspect Akaryuu Izayoi's a psychic duelist," Aika added. "Dang powerful one at that. We were a lil' concerned with yer crash, and wanted to find out if that's the case, or if somethin' a bit more sinister's brewin' round this here tournament. An' for that matter, if you'll be okay." Mr. X scoffed a bit and turned his face away.

"Do I look okay kid? My leg is broken, I need replacement parts, and worst of all, me and the Meklords were made fools of," He stated. "However, you all have the wrong idea. Akaryuu didn't do a damn thing to me. It was my cards, the Meklords. They said they'd rather crash and burn then fight Akaryuu. They won't stop talking about how dangerous he was," His robotic eye stared at the two. "They say you two are dangerous as well," He then looked at the TV screen playing the current duel right as Yugo Pendulum Synchroed. "And they tell me Banana Head's one of the most dangerous of all,"

As Eizar left the room to head out, Mokuba passed him. "Be careful," He said. "Furiko is a traitor. She was promised the power to become Duel Queen if she helped them, the Wicked Gods," before Eizar could ask anything else, the man vanished.

Akaryuu sighed to himself as he headed down the hall, staring at a blank card. "That was unfortunate...," He muttered to himself as he headed to the special room for the Blank Card Holders.

"Buster Blader... Stardust Dragon... Its an honor to meet such powerful spirits." She said bowing her head. "I'm Shiren, Paladin from the Dark Below... Unfamiliar I'm sure... But I assure you I'm nicer than my appearance would suggest... I wouldn't say the same about the other residents of the Dark..."

"No need to be so formal," Buster Blader stated. "We're all equals," Stardust nodded.

"Where one is from matters not. Simply what they do," He added. Buster Whelp tilted its head, looking at Helena and trotted over, pushing her hand with his head, trying to get her attention. He sat down next to her, tilting her head. However, a large shadow suddenly loomed over the two. If Helena was to look up, she'd see the massive form of a black dragon covered in red circles. Buster Whelp wasn't intimidated by the massive form of Gandora, however, and chirped happily, flying up and ramming his tiny head into Gandora's. The large dragon chuckled before bending down to look at Helena.

"What are you doing here alone, little one?" He asked, his voice deep and gravelly.

Elsewhere, as Daichi ate, Dark Magician walked over, pulling up a seat.

"Something's been bothering me," He said. "The two of you... didn't seem to remember Rinka at all," He shook his head. "While I understand Daichi not, why would you forget her, Haruto...?" He rubbed his chin. "If you do not mind, I would like to examine you later, Haruto,"

As Miero sat there, crying, he could feel a hand on his shoulder. Dread Knight stood over him, before taking a seat. "I understand this is hard on you," He stated. "But for now, you must eat," A shadow loomed over the two as Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon walked over. "Please, keep your strength up," Dread Knight sighed. "I know it's not easy... my sister was taken by these freaks too," He gritted his teeth. "As I was trying to keep my city safe, I failed to protect my own sister," He scoffed. "Some hero I am. However, we still have a chance to save them. Please... keep your strength up. Don't let your grief stop you from having the strength to move on,"

Furiko's eyes went a bit wide as the man had relayed what had happened. Though Akaryuu himself was dangerous, it turned out that he had nothing to do with the crash. The girl was a bit confused as to what it meant when he said his cards themselves set out to destroy his machine rather than dueling against him, unsure of how that even happens and what he was actually saying. Nevertheless, she was a bit surprised as the man then said that they too were dangerous. Furiko looked at Aika a bit confused, only to then hear about Yugo being the most dangerous of them, as he showcased something that Furiko had never seen before. She watched in awe, probably more awestruck than any other spectator, at the display. Yugo showcased a monster that was both Synchro and Pendulum, something she had never seen before. And then to synchro summon it from the pendulum zone was all the crazier. She thought back to her first duel with Kyoji, when he had used his Xyz monster as a tuner to synchro summon. Then came Yugo with his Pendulum Synchro. Furiko had always prided herself on being able to use every summon type as a means to showcase her skill and reach others. But perhaps this whole team she was simply being...superficial.

The girl soon snapped out of her little haze as she realized where she was and what she still needed to do. "Th-thank you, Mr. X. I hope you get better soon." Clearly flustered from being lost in her own thoughts, the girl made her way out of the recovery room, not even paying mind to if Aika had stayed or anything and walked a bit away from it. She was dangerous. Aika was dangerous. Yugo was dangerous. And Akaryuu was dangerous. She wasn't quite sure what it all meant. The only thing that the three of them had in common was that they had blanks. So, either they were equally as dangerous as the Wicked Gods or Akaryuu himself had a blank. Or there was some other thing at play that she couldn't make out. All of the things were getting jumbled in her head and she wasn't quite sure what to make of it all. As she stood outside in her indecision, she waited for Aika before asking her, "do you think we should just go back and report to Blues now?"

Hanae could only grin in amusement as the girl had used Blazing Mirror Force. Under normal circumstances it was a bit riskier to use than its more vanilla counterpart, but of course with the Signer Dragon on her side, it had stopped the burn entirely. Hanae could tell that the dragon had found a worthy successor to be use it in this Maggie Hogan, yet that wasn't the thing she cared about the most. When Clear Wing Fast Dragon had been destroyed and sent to the pendulum zone, Hanae smirked saying, "I knew it." A signer dragon was amazing, sure. When it came to dragons, she knew her Starve Venom was almost entirely unmatched. As such, she had no reason to doubt that Clear Wing would come out on top in this exchange. This was only further affirmed as Fast Dragon brought itself back onto the field with a faux Synchro Summon. Wanting to see just how these dragons would match up against each other, the girl sat back and continued to watch the duel expectantly.

Zephine was both confused and amused as Val started to talk about eating contests and weight, seemingly thinking that she had offended the white haired girl in some way. As she finished her apology, Zephine simply laughed and said, "man, you're a weird one, Val." Soon enough, the duo got to a fast food place, ready to get food. Zephine had money of her own, and felt a bit odd about how persistent Val was on paying for her, but she wasn't one to turn down a free meal and so she simply went along with it. When the girl motioned for her to go order, Zephine said, "I'll take what she's having. But make it a large, instead." After they had order and waited for a bit, they finally got their food and were able to get to a table.

As they started walking away, a bespectacled girl in a suit walked up, seemingly in awe. "Oh, I've heard stories about this fast food before but never have I actually been to one." While her eyes were alight, the clerk seemed to be somewhat confused by the girl, wanting her to order before the girl said, "oh yes. My order. I will have one of those 6 pieces of nuggets and a soft beverage. The largest size you have, mind you." While the clerk seemed confused, her eyes went wide as the girl paid for her meal, with a bill that was far too large for a girl her age to be carrying around.

Despite this odd scene going on, the two girls had eventually managed to find a seat, where Zephine started to eat her fries, one handful at a time. After the first two, she then took a large sip from her drink before letting out a pleasant sigh, and saying, "man this really hits the spot." Looking at the girl who was across from her, the girl then started to slow down her pace of fry eating, while asking, "so Val, where ya from? I'd feel awfully rude if I didn' know much 'bout the girl who was given me a free meal, ya know?"

-The Moonlit Magician-

~Citadel of Endymion~

"Something's been bothering me. The two of you... didn't seem to remember Rinko at all. While I understand Daichi not, why would you forget her, Haruto...? If you do not mind, I would like to examine you later, Haruto."

Daichi looked up to see Maho speak to him as well as Haruto, who returned back towards them after speaking with those of the Gagaga clan. The Entertainment Duelist was silent for a moment, trying to think about what Maho was proposing at first...though the way he said it made him feel a little worse.

Haruto cleared his throat and spoke first. "Maho, if I may..." he said, sitting down. "I hadn't forgotten Rinko as a Spirit...quite the contrary, you know well enough that me and her grew up together within the walls of this citadel, training under the Gagaga Head." However, he shook his head. "However...I was unaware of her following me when I met Daichi. Had I known that she was even following me and joined Daichi...we would've..."

"Haruto...stop." Daichi sighed, causing the Gagaga Magician to stop. "Regardless of what happened, fact of the matter is...it's my deck. And if there were more Duel Spirits in it that I should've been noticing...I should've noticed them and paid more attention."

-The Starry Exeperiment-

~Fortune Cup~

"Why do I need a reason? What I've been seeing from you up until now has been that of a child that had his childhood unfairly robbed from him in the worst of ways. Now. I can't unwind the past, but I could possibly help you out in other ways. There's no telling what these fucks will do to you once they're done with you."

Jet shook his head at this. "No...you don't get it. You need a reason to help someone as screwed up as me!" he said, throwing his hands in the air. "That's how the world we live in works! You CAN'T get anything or anywhere in life you want without paying some funking toll...signing some contract...getting adopted..." He slammed his hands on his legs, really just wanting to yell even more...but that would definitely draw more attention towards Kuria's room and he didn't need that.

He just remained silent after his little lash out, before Kuria spoke up again after watching the current Duel on the screen.

"Black-Winged Dragon, Stardust Dragon, Ancient Fairy Dragon, Black Rose Dragon, Red Dragon Archfiend, Lifestream Dragon...would you believe me if I said I've only found one monster card for each of those six? No variants? Despite this, I see cards like your Stardust Spark Dragon and my Ancient Pixie Dragon, cards that do not show in any database unless used in a duel and only for the duel machines that need it. It's a puzzle I've been wondering about since I found it in my deck after I woke up from getting my arm and eye first installed..."

Jet just listened to Kuria's explanation of this...and to some extent, it made some sense. The six monsters he listed off...the Signer Dragons of old. They were given to the Signers by some ancient power or something, least that's what he read up on. But Stardust Spark was like Stardust Dragon...and this had been the first time he saw something that even resembled the Ancient Fairy.

But Stardust Spark Dragon was given to him by Dr. Aichi and the Turbo City Branch of KaibaCorp...but it was just because of Project Crimson...whatever that was. There was no possible way that Ancient Pixie was...

"sheet, sheet, worst time for that itch to start back up."

Jet was brought back to reality, hearing Kuria say this...but was drawn to something. As the Duelist scratched his arm, faint traces of a mark were seen where he was scratching. A mark that was all too familiar to him... Jet quickly pulled his eyes away from Kuria's arm, looking at the ground before finally standing up.

"I-I'm sorry Kuria...but..." Jet said, before holding his marked arm. "I'm going to need time..." He started walking towards the door, before looking over his shoulder. "I'm sorry that Stardust Spark did that to you..."

~Miero's POV~

Miero jolted slightly as a hand fell upon his shoulder, hands pulling away from his face as the librarian looked up towards the one the hand was attached to, seeing himself looking up towards the Dread Knight. "Oh, I'm...sorry."

The Knight took a seat right next to him before speaking. "I understand this is hard on you," he stated. "But for now, you must eat,"

"I am more than...hm?" Miero couldn't help but look back after seeing a shadow cast over the pair for a moment, looking back to see what looked to him like the Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon.

"Please, keep your strength up," Dread Knight continued before sighing. "I know it's not easy...my sister was taken by these freaks too." Though the mask covered most of his face, it did not cover the fact that he was gritting his teeth, prompting Miero to look down towards the table, arms crossed in front of him.

How selfish was it of me to think that I was the only one with a personal stake in this, he asked in realization, somewhat scolding himself while unheard by others.

"As I was trying to keep my city safe, I failed to protect my own sister," He scoffed. "Some hero I am. However, we still have a chance to save them. Please... keep your strength up. Don't let your grief stop you from having the strength to move on."

"Would you happen to be from Hearthome as well," Miero asked in curiosity, still trying to settle his stomach enough to eat. "Sorry, I know I need to eat, but...I can't help but think of what they may be doing to him." A single sob escaped from him. "Malin's not even old enough to do anything wrong and this..."

Miero looked over all the food in the buffet and an idea came to mind. "Maybe I can get the recipes for some of these dishes and let him try them after we all get back." A glimmer of hope, a small goal set in mind, Miero got little bits of each dish in the buffet, but he still managed to get enough to fill the plate and eat his fill...

~Kuria's POV~

"That's how the world we live in works! You CAN'T get anything or anywhere in life you want without paying some funking toll...signing some contract...getting adopted..."

It's thinking like that which keeps this world like that, Kuria thought to himself.

Soon after dealing with that annoying itch, Jet seemed to have swapped gears on him, a bit more than eager to get out of the room, prompting an eyebrow raise over his living eye.

"I-I'm sorry Kuria...but..." Jet said, before holding his marked arm. "I'm going to need time..." He started walking towards the door, before looking over his shoulder. "I'm sorry that Stardust Spark did that to you..."

"One last question before you go, then. Who the hell was Mr. Creeptastic next to you? The one you were talking to in the stands after I said 'hi'." Kuria looked up towards the ceiling in thought. "I didn't hear what you guys were saying, but you were sweating bullets, now that I think on it."

"Do I look okay kid? My leg is broken, I need replacement parts, and worst of all, me and the Meklords were made fools of."

Well yeah, there's plenny words for that, but okay ain't one of 'em. Perhaps asking if he was okay wasn't the best choice of words. This was why Aika didn't like asking people questions.

"However, you all have the wrong idea. Akaryuu didn't do a damn thing to me. It was my cards, the Meklords. They said they'd rather crash and burn then fight Akaryuu. They won't stop talking about how dangerous he was. They say you two are dangerous as well. And they tell me Banana Head's one of the most dangerous of all."

Banana Head, eh? Aika looked at the screen briefly, to see how he could be so dangerous. And then there it was. A monster the likes of which she'd seen before. It was a Synchro...but it was also a Pendulum. And Yugo had Synchro Summoned it from the Pendulum Zone? The cards city folk used just seemed to get weirder and weirder by the day. What was next? Some wonky card type that kept everyone from summoning anything else at all? And speaking of card types, Furiko used all of them, as Aika recalled it. Sure that made her a pretty potent duelist, but dangerous? Nah.

"Th-thank you, Mr. X. I hope you get better soon."

"Get well soon," Aika echoed, turning and leaving the room. As she left the room, Furiko hit her with a question of her own.

"Do you think we should just go back and report to Blues now?"

"Yeah. We know Akaryuu ain't behind Mr. X's crash, though I ain't sure about him thinkin' y'all are dangerous. Might just be ha..." Hallucinating. After the espionage slip-up though, Aika wasn't sure if she was willing to slip her tongue and sound like an idiot again. "Goin' crazy." Much better. "Woulda been nice if we found a solid lead, but it makes sense it ain't gonna be that easy."

"I'll take what she's having. But make it a large, instead."

It wasn't long before the orders had arrived, Valeria paid, got her change, and got their seats. Valeria had noted a rather odd girl in a suit who didn't seem very familiar with fast food, but didn't pay her much mind. She wasn't Valeria's opponent this round, nor was she the person she was here to eat with. The girl in the suit would have to wait. Zephine took to her fries vigorously, eating them by the handful. Valeria - being of a smaller appetite - opted to take them one fry at a time instead. After Zephine had taken down a couple handfuls of fries and a sip of her drink, she hit Valeria with a question.

"Man this really hits the spot. So Val, where ya from? I'd feel awfully rude if I didn' know much 'bout the girl who was given me a free meal, ya know?"

"I'm from Domino, though most of my family lives in Taccon," she answered. "I know I've got at least some family just about anywhere in the Greater Domino Area though. We've got really big family reunions." A smile cracked across Valeria's face as she thought back to those. And then to her father. Her smile faded as quickly as it formed. It wasn't really a situation she wanted to think about. Valeria, therefore, chose not to think about it too much, instead directing her thoughts back to the girl sitting across from her. "I haven't been home in a while though; I've been taking on tournaments all across the GDA. How about you? Where are you from?"

"No need to be so formal," Buster Blader stated. "We're all equals," Stardust nodded.

"Where one is from matters not. Simply what they do," Stardust added.

"O-of course, my apologies. I'm sorry if Helena has been issue as of late, she's... Had a rough life." Shiren stated sitting down. "Her mind is very fragile, and her psychic powers don't help with it... I simply ask that you forgive her for any at all damage she may cause." she stated with a solemn tone.

iU8EggM.png

Helena sat in silence until she could feel something rubbing against her. She looked down to see Buster Whelp trying to get her attention. "O-oh... Hey..." she petted Buster Whelp's head, never before had she thought about actually petting a monster until now, well, besides Kuriboh, wherever that little furball was. The area seemed to go dark for a second until Helena realized something was looming over her, looking up her face turned paler than usual as an enormous black dragon was standing over her.

A sigh of relief escaped her as Buster Whelp seemed cheerful around the dragon, another friend thankfully. The large dragon bent down to Helena's level. "What are you doing here alone, little one?" Helena looked away from this question. "I... I just... Don't want to be around anyone... They must think I'm a psychopath right now..." she answered in a rather sad tone.

Izayoi was nearing the blank card holder's room when a loud cry would sound out behind him. If he looked, Izayoi would see a very flustered Kuriboh scurrying back into the hallway it had catapulted out from, floating through the air quickly, looking worried as it looked around it, unaware of Izayoi.

"A Duel Spirit...?" Izayoi asked, curious. He looked down the hallway towards the room that contained the holders of the blank cards. "They can wait," he decided, turning down the hallway to see Kuriboh darting through a closing doorway, barely squeezing through. "How did a Duel Spirit find it's way here... and solid, too?"

He followed Kuriboh through several doors, finally opening a door that did not lead to part of the arena. The sudden shift in sound as he opened it signaled he had exited, the echoes of the door opening and the dim light signaling he was inside a parking structure. Vehicles lined the walls, every sound echoing in the high ceiling. Including the sound of footfalls.

"I figured you would be curious about a Duel Spirit." Tycho stood a few dozen feet away, higher up on the ramp to the next level. Kuriboh, who had been fretfully whizzing around his head, looking irate, spun around, letting out a muffled shriek when he saw Izayoi. He darted behind Tycho as the man chuckled, readjusting his scarf. "I don't like these Duel Spirits much. Don't understand them, and I don't think I ever will. But it was easy to use it as a distraction, Izayoi."

Tycho was caught off guard when he saw what was in Izayoi's hand. A blank card. His eyes narrowed as he saw this. "A blank card... Which one was it, then? Furiko? Eizar?" He scowled. "Looks like I wasn't the only one who decided to not wait for the tournament to kick off to get the things I needed. Looks like the Kaiba kid was right about you..."

He raised an arm, which held a Duel Disk. "But I don't really care about how scared HE is of you... I don't want that blank card. I want your Black Magician, Izayoi. I need it. Nothing personal." Kuriboh quailed behind him, shivering and peering over his shoulder at Izayoi in fear. But Tycho was wearing a fierce smile, the smile of a man who was confident he had already won.
