[spoiler=Sorceror of Dark Mirages: Errata]

DARK/Spellcaster-Type Effect Monster/Level 9/3200 ATK/2800 DEF

Lore: Must be Special Summoned (from your hand or Graveyard) by Tributing 1 "Dark Magician" and 1 Level 5 or higher Spellcaster-Type monster from your hand or field, and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. Unaffected by Trap effects. The Levels of all "Magician's" monsters you control become 9. Once per turn, during either player's turn, when a Set Spell/Trap Card is activated: You can negate the activation, then if it was a Trap Card, you can Set 1 "Dark Magic" or "Magician's" Spell/Trap Card directly from your Deck.

Hard to believe, but the idea from this came from Leafblade, and this card is but the beginning of Ebon Week. Because Dark Magicians need the extra love. Good monster churning, but such a near-inconsistent work with its own Spell/Trap base means it runs out of steam before it can get going proper. Proto-U.A., really.

So to start, I'm handing them a slightly more workable and revivable twist to the Sorceror of Dark Magic. Now its a Rank-9 enabler with backrow negation-AND setup. And all it costs you are two Spellcasters, including a Dark Magician, to Special Summon. Pity that's the only way to bring it out. Being a -1 makes this all necessary, even with the ability to be Normal Summoned. I mean, really, bombing out 2 vanillas instead of 1 for Red-Eyes Vintage Dragon (my previous work) demands some versaility, since Trap usage is a rather dicey way to combat monsters these days. (don't believe me? watch ANY Kozmo engine at work)

Anyways, may the reviews and revelry come in abundance.

BDS, signing off.

UPDATE: Tweaked the card to make it more...apropros to summon like Sorceror of Dark Magic.

Nice idea, I never would've thought of making a card that enables Rank 9 plays for DM while still allowing Rank 7's, cool stuff. The summon condition is actually very cool, and I like that it can revive from the Graveyard too. At first I was a bit wary about it negating Spells to, but since they had to be set, that's actually a pretty nice idea, you could even combine DM with Anti-Spell Fragrance, especially since a lot of there spells are quick-plays meant for disruption, and DM is all about disruption and controlling the flow of the game. I do like the benefit of setting a Spell/Trap only comes from negating Traps, to fit in more with the original, though it makes me laugh at how the PK Fire match-up would go. Glad you kept the idea of it being unaffected by Trap Effects, so Eternal Soul won't nuke it. The only other thing I could've asked for was a way for this card to debuff the opponent based on the number of Spellcasters in your Grave, similar to how it was in the movie, though that effect was actually pretty overpowered, lol.

So essentially easier to Summon than Sorcerer of Dark Magic? Unless Dark Magician is a third Tribute. Is it, or is that one of the two you had to Tribute?

Plus, not only capable of negating Trap Cards, but Spell Cards, too, all while unaffected by Trap Cards. AND Setting a "Magic" Spell/Trap Card?

I'd say the balance for this one is questionable, but take that for what you will.

My apologies for the timing-been busy with another set on DeviArt.

Anyways-yeah, I was a bit worried about the abusability of Dark Mirages, but that sucker only works on Set stuff. Essentially, its a card that features on what your OPPONENT does-they use nothing, you get nothing. Sorciere de Fleur on steroids, is what I imagine.

And no, this is 2 Tributes. That it's easier to Summon is only to gel better with the Magician's new cards from the movie set, like DM Veil to DM Curtain.

If you have any ways to improve this sucka, all ears. Ebon Sage is next.

Well, it looks fine now; did you change anything on the card?
