You receive a notice by mail.  You receive an e-mail.  You receive a video broadcast.  In some way, you personally have been invited to attend the first annual Secret Cup Tournament.  You, of hundreds of thousands of fighters being gathered from around the globe, have been invited to be one of only 8 to enter the final rounds of this grand spectacle.  Held by the richest man on earth, seeking only entertainment, your flight, room, board, and food have been accommodated simply so that you may attend.  And with 100 Billion U.S.D. on the line, it's the opportunity to make something for yourself, for someone you know and love, or to make enemies.  What you do with the prize is up to you.  That is, if you can make it to the end.  There can be only one victor.  The types of fighters that will gather is unprecedented, and cannot be determined.  Wielding magics, blades, guns, superhuman strength, no one knows what to expect.  This is what the Secret Cup Tournament is all about.  Surprises, danger, and lots of blood shed.  Who will stand atop the Golden Gate as the strongest fighter in the world

The setting of the rp, despite being a reboot, will be mostly the same.  However, in this timeline--and because the previous RP did nearly reach its end--returning characters will not exist, and thus will not be allowed in this rendition of the RP.  The same is true for most antagonists (there may be a few cameos).  Arenas will more than likely be the same, but I'll try to make a few additional changes for fun so that you all can be a tad bit refreshed on the different maps.  Also, cast will be limited to ten slots, and a maximum of two characters per player.  No more.

Murder Mystery will also be returning, since this rp is possibly going to be lengthy like the last, and the constant fighting with no break in between may cause fatigue.  Not to mention, it was a big hit.  This time, Murder Mystery GGE will take place on YCM, and I'll notify you all when it's time.

Currently, I am not looking for a co-host.  If the need arises, I'll ask around.  Rules are more or less the same, and you can find them below.

[spoiler=Plot]

An obnoxiously, disgustingly rich man.  After many years of acquiring massive pieces of land, buying out large business industries, and operating the world’s largest, most lucrative hotel, they have hit their lowest point:  boredom.  It is boredom that kills men.  It is boredom that truly pushes men to war.  And it is boredom that has spawned one of the most anticipated tournaments of the 2088 year.   Hosted by Sergei Nikolaev , creator and owner of the Golden Gate Hotel, pioneer and innovator, the bravest and most powerful fighters from around the planet will soon be gathered in one location to duke it out.  True entertainment will be found here, where men, women, alien, and mythical creature alike may take a stab at a stake of a grand prize pool of 100 Billion American dollars.

But what is a tournament without its challenges?  Of the many combatants, totaling in the hundreds of thousands, only ten made it out of the preliminary stages.  These 10 people (or beings, if you please) will enter the true, most brutal combat experience they will ever face.  With ever changing combat arenas, unspeakable dangers, and unknown enemies.  These 10 will stare each other down in a battle of wits, fisticuffs, and endurance.  They’ll beat each other to a pulp, until only one is left standing, consciously.  This, ladies and gentleman, alien and beast, is the Golden Gate Secret Cup Tournament!

Of course, each Tournament has its rules.  There aren’t many, but at such a fine establishment, order must be kept.  During your stay at the Golden Gate, please keep in mind the following:

No business may be conducted on Hotel Grounds.  This includes all forms of combat.

All arenas will have a boundary.  Leaving the boundary is an immediate disqualification.  If you step outside of the marked zones of an arena, you will lose the match!

Matches will be decided when one party is unconscious, unable to continue, or dead.  You are not obligated to spare your opponent.  This means you would be wise to give the enemy no leeway.

[spoiler=Setting]

The Golden Gate Hotel was founded in 2020, by Sergei Nikolaev, a maniacal and powerful pioneer of extraordinary ability.  Located in San Francisco, California, it is the world’s largest hotel, at approximately 25,000 rooms.  It is built in pieces, unlike most hotels, but sits as a single structure.  The pieces are 3, enormous skyscrapers, showered in gold and platinum, built of the strongest steel.

In the first tower, The East Gate, are 10,000 rooms, and it is primarily reserved for spectators and guests who are not aware or not participating in the tournament.  In the center tower, the smallest of the 3, the North Tower, sits 5,000 rooms.  These rooms house the wealthiest of the wealthy, and is nothing shy of luxurious as the rest of the establishment is.  It too is showered in gold and platinum, with a lush red carpet to greet its guests.

And lastly, in the West Tower, are a third and final setting of 10,000 rooms.  It is perfectly symmetrical to the East Tower in amenities, appearance, and luxury.  Each tower holds a full 24 hour bar, 24 hour room service, and an exclusive 24 hours buffet.  There are gyms, indoor pools, and to top it all off, there is a theme park just behind the Golden Gate, accessible through the rear of any of the three towers.

However, even though the Golden Gate Hotel is the mainstay of the tournament, it is only there to house participants, spectators, and guests.  The true location of the tournament will not be set in one place.  In fact, it will be set in a multitude of places.

From space itself, high above the Earth, to the depths of the deepest ocean in a sunken city, The Secret Cup Tournament will never grow stale.  Dangerous indigenous creatures await in each location.  And Natives don’t often take kindly to strangers destroying their property.  The true setting of the Secret Cup Tournament, is global.

[spoiler=The Arena(s)]

Arenas have already been planned.  What order they appear in will not be given.  That's a surprise.  Remember, you will be traveling the globe in your fights.  This is not present day Earth, and some arenas are fictitious for rp purposes.  Arenas will be prepared with lots of traps, usable by fighters.  Use this to your advantage to make things interesting.  Arenas will be updated here as they appear.

[spoiler=Shan'ri Temple]

JXMGVtp.jpg

Shan’ri Temple

Long abandoned, but overrun by native insects.  You won’t find anything fatal above ground.  Though, I wouldn’t go fishing.  It is said that battles that take place on temple grounds will be forever remembered.  Temple grounds are approximately 45.72 meters in width and 40 meters in depth.  It is one of the smallest selected arenas in the tournament.

Traps Include:

[NONE FOUND]

Indigenous Creatures Include:

Koi fish - A simple koi fish.  Harmless, but delicious.

Watabi Mantis - They can fly!  But that's about it.  They're pretty cool though.

King Crab - You want top of the line seafood?  This is it right here.  Hard as hell to open the shell though.

Zen Fly - They like to give birth to Otopis Maggots.  Rapidly.  Killing them when you see 'em should be a priority.

Otopis Maggot - They explode if you crush them.  They also explode on death.  So like, stay away from the maggots if you can help it.

Oh, and, seriously, don’t go fishing.

[spoiler=Fragility Badlands]

Fragility Badlands

k1iWJPy.jpg

An African forest that is slowly being devoured by war-torn countries across the continent.  This is a hot-zone, and getting in and out of it means you're going to inevitably cross paths with either the rebel party or the Afrikaan Assault Force.  The forest is massive, stretching well over twenty-five kilometers.  However, contestants will only have to worry about fighting inside two kilometers of forest, of course closed off by the barrier that Sergei has erected around it.  The barrier extends from the northwest of the Congo Basin to the southeast, where the Nile River meets the edge of the forest.

There is much wildlife, ranging from Gorillas and lions to snakes and  deer.  However, because the war between the AAF and the Rebellion Party of Free Nations has crossed over into the forest, their natural habitat has become imbalanced.  The animals are angry, and fraught with fear.  Humans and the like are not something they welcome in this time of tragedy in their home.  But that doesn't mean the rebels or the AAF will be nearly as compliant.  This is their home too after all.  And you're nothing more than trespassers.

Indigenous Creatures Include:

Lions, and Tigers, and Bears!  Oh my! - This is literal.  Meant to be taken literally.  There are literally, lions, tigers, and bears.

Gorillas - Silverbacks to be precise.

Snakes - all of them are venomous, and most of them are cobras.

Deer - They're so cute!

Hippos - Be more mindful of them when you're running across the water in the forest.  They're very territorial.  And having been moved around thanks to this war, they're pretty damned agitated.

Afrikaan Assault Force - A band of government controlled mercenaries out on a mission to eliminate the rebel scum.  Well armed, well trained, and very dangerous.

Rebellion Party of Free Nations - Tired of being herded like sheep and slaughtered like cattle, the Rebellion Party has gathered to put an end to government controlled tyranny.  By any means necessary.

[spoiler=Fallen Church of Jubilee]

8LybR6a.jpg

Fallen Church of Jubilee

Holy grounds that once belonged to less of a church, and more of an empire.  The Church of Jubilee is located in what used to be Monterrey, Mexico.  That is until the plague robbed most of Monterrey of life.  Monterrey was known to be a city of sin.  From the preachers to the politicians, they were crooked in some form or other.  The entire city was a cesspool of vile, evil people, and the innocent suffered for it.  Something of an anomaly, a disease spread like wildfire throughout the lands, starting with the Church of Jubilee.  The city was quarantined for well over one hundred and fifteen years, as natural decay over took it, and it returned to the wild.

Though disease no longer runs rampant in the city, some say the church of Jubilee was the cause of it all.  Their false faith having brought upon the wrath of God and leaving the entire city scorned and destroyed because of them.  Their occult like practices and their sinful behavior having caused them suffering, and only leaving destruction behind.

But that was many years ago.  To this day, Monterrey is no longer inhabited.  However, since then, borders to the city have been reopened, and its become something of a tourist cite.  Most famous, is the fallen Church of Jubilee.  And some tourists have said they've felt a presence there that is both awe inspiring and frightening.  Like being watched by God himself.  Or perhaps, an angel?

The church was large, for a church.  Boasting a little over 600 members and averaging two services per Sunday, 7200 square feet was the perfect size for this place, not including the tad bit of land that surrounded it.  With the parking lot and surrounding land, the church's parameters total about 15,000 square feet,

[spoiler=Sahill Cathedral]

nPU8RQo.jpg

The Sahill Cathedral

Despite appearances, the Sahill Cathedral is one of the larger arenas chosen for the tournament.  It has more than eight floors, seven of which are underground and expand to about the size of a football field, per floor.  While there aren’t many dangerous animals or mythical creatures lurking about, the Cathedral is as dangerous as any other arena.  It has the most traps of any arena, and more lethal natural instances that can occur than if you were to be on a Cliffside.  If you were to lay out each floor side by side, you’d have roughly 2.5 km of land to fight on.  And with each floor being a bit of a maze, it isn’t easy getting around.  What makes the Cathedral dangerous, however, isn't the cultists that thrive in it, nor the many traps or undead that surround it.

But there is something frightening happening in the bowels of the Cathedral.  And the cultists are working fervently to unleash it upon the world.

Indigenous Species Include:

Cathedral Cultists – Yes, they are insane.  Yes, they are skilled close combat fighters.  Yes, they wield rusted daggers and wear black cloaks with a blood stained symbol on them.  Yes.

Bats.  They’re just bats.

Undead – It kind of varies, but there’s a good chance that, if you stroll past the third floor, you’ll start running into a variety of undead.  Skeletons, zombies of different types (ranging from carriers and mothers to the standard walking husk), and uh, one or two that may, sort of kinda be made of a couple hundred corpses molded into a twelve-foot walking terror.  Just so you know.

Traps Include:

Knowledge is. . .Death? – I wouldn’t go browsing the library, or any bookshelf for that matter.  Avoiding them is impossible because there are hundreds upon hundreds of bookcases, but there’s a good chance the next book you pick up could send you below the cathedral itself.

Where Sleeping Dogs Lie - At the bottom of the Cathedral lies a chamber.  It is cold, damp, and dimly lit.  It reeks of death, but the Cultists seem to revolve their entire existence around the oblong, oval shaped chamber.  They're preparing for something.  Something sinister.  You should investigate.  You never know what you may find.

This Little Light of Mine – There are quite a few chandeliers in the lower floors of the Cathedral.  And each one of them Is accessible with a flick of a switch.  Try to pin your opponent inside of it.  The innards of the chandelier are lined with magic, and anything that interrupts that is in for a shock.  Literally.

Collateral Cathedral – Not much of the staircases is solid in the Cathedral.  Pushing someone over the edge isn’t an idea.  It’s gonna happen.  And falling fifty feet to the next floor is gonna hurt.

Broken Stones, Broken Bones – Some chunks of the Cathedral floor are also damaged.  Watch your step.  You might think it’s just a loose pallet of stone, but it’s actually a shortcut to the next floor, with concussive proportions.

Magical Journey – At the heart of the Cathedral, on the eighth floor, there is a chamber riddled with magic.  Stepping inside of it is easy.  Leaving it is not.  There are rumors that the possessed sleeps there, and he’s not one to just excuse trespassers.

[spoiler=Oxfield Scrapyard]

1SkRpd2.png

Oxfield Scrapyard

Everything needs a place to die.  Even machines.  But this particular scrapyard once ran trains.  And now, it runs blood.  For the longest time, after it was abandoned some century ago, bodies were dumped here.  Murders were carried out in quick succession in this backwoods, no-one-in-sight scrapyard.  The nearest town was more than eight hundred miles due north, through mountains.  And that was a shortcut.  Stretching over 1000 meters, the Scrapyard was of monstrous proportions.  It was easy to get lost in piles of metal, bending and turning around every corner.  But that isn’t the dangerous part.  The dangerous part of the Scrapyard is that, every night, at exactly 7 p.m., it is brought back to life by mad men.  And the cranes aren’t the only thing they operate.

Indigenous Creatures Include:

Metalheads – Or so they call themselves.  Clad in bright yellow and steel colored armor, they often brandish crude hatchets, nail guns modified for automatic fire, or pipes and plumbing wrenches just to prove a point.  They’re not the brightest, but after a few months practice, every piece of machinery in the Oxfield Scrapyard was now operable by this group of thugs.  They aren’t exactly tough, but if they get their hands on torches, or really any piece of welding material or machine in the Scrapyard, they become a serious problem.  Try not to be on their grounds too long.

Iron Giants – No, you read that properly.  Standing at 10 feet tall, the Giants are a force to be reckoned with.  And after 7 p.m., the Iron Giants become active.  Unfortunately, they attack any and everything they come across, including the Metalheads.  Strangely enough, one particular Metalhead, clad in red armor, has never been threatened by the Iron Giants.  Special little snowflake that one is.  Things to note about the Giants.  They are sensitive to heat.  If you’ve got literal firepower, use it.  They are not sentient, but they are highly intelligent.  Trying to outsmart them is a dangerous task.  The force of their punches is equivalent to that of a car traveling 80 mph.  You should probably move.

Dogs – Owned and controlled by the Metalheads, these poor creatures are at their owners’ beck and call.  Most times, they are on long linked chains.  But these dogs, pit bulls to be precise, are nothing short of powerful.  They can and will bite.  They know the area well enough that you can’t hide from them without killing them.  Caution is advised.

Scrap God, Scrap God - ???  No additional information available at this time.

Traps Include:

Running Rampant – Remember that rail we talked about?  After 7p.m. it becomes active.  Metalheads will be running that train in circles for several hours, non-stop.  The train will make a complete rotation once every 20 minutes.  Time your attempted execution carefully.

Buzzkill – The scrapyard wouldn’t be any fun if there wasn’t a working table saw on the facilities.  Find it, flip it on, use it.

Massive Dunkage – There’s a live foundry on the Scrapyard grounds.  Boiling at over 1600 degrees Fahrenheit, there is almost no chance one would survive a foundry being dumped over them.  And of course, a kill of these proportions would be a real crowd pleaser.

Death^3 – Oh come on, this one is a dead giveaway!  There’s a crusher in the scrapyard.  Turns metal into compact cubes. . . by crushing it.  Use it.

High Traffic – A large number of cars, trucks, even semis are still on the Scrapyard grounds, not yet crushed.  They can’t be run, but with the gigantic magnet that moves them still being operable, you can move them.

Swiss Metal – Once every hour, the center of the Scrapyard becomes a master piece.  Below the enormous piles of metal, a gigantic metal blender—with thousands upon thousands of teeth—is revealed.  Rotating at more than 100,000 rpm, this shredder is the most fun to observe.  The ground opens outwards from the center, and anything above it plummets to the center, until it is grinded into a fine powder.  You’d have to be standing roughly 50 meters away to avoid it.

For reference:  The North side of the Scrapyard contains the railroad at the very edge of the boundary that would mark out of bounds.  The rail way is covered by an overhead awning, made of glass and rusted metal.  It is exactly 100 feet long from a tunnel exit that leads out of bounds, to the next tunnel exit in bound.  The rail is positioned on the Northern Border in a West to East direction.

Approximately six hundred feet due south east, the Foundry can be found, surrounded by metal scrap heaps.  The Foundry is accessible by a large rickety building, with a rusted ladder inside leading to the second floor of the control tower.

On the Western Border, the Crusher sits.  Operating it is as simple as approaching the operating frame just a few feet south of the Crusher itself.

In the South, exactly 50 feet away from the Shredder, the Management Crane and Lift Magnet are adjacent, merely 100 feet from another.  Each is accessible by a ladder directly attached to the machinery itself, with scrap piles and cars within reach.

[spoiler=Lacusta Castle]

TFpISgY.jpg

Lacusta Castle

Clearly, this is one of the larger arenas.  Lacusta Castle once belonged to a powerful vampire family, only to be snatched away at the fear of the common human.  They had come ranting and raving with their pitchforks, garlic, holy symbols, and stakes.  Even with their strength, the number of humans simply outweighed the few vampires that resided in this castle.  However, their overlord, one of the Dominant 3, and last of pure bred Vampires would not let these sins against his people go without being repaid.  With some of his greatest magic, he has placed a powerful curse over the castle grounds, and much of its land beyond it.  The locals of Romania quickly became aware of it, as their poor mental statuses could not process what this curse could do.  Upon standing on the grounds of Lacusta, one’s remorse, regret, morals, and compassion would be shattered, as their bloodlust grows uncontrollable.  Humans who have entered the Lacusta Castle grounds since the laying of the curse, have quickly turned on each other, or themselves.  The Castle grounds stretch about 30km, but for the sake of the Tournament, only the first five floors, of 2km, will be used.

Indigenous Creatures Include:

Lacusta Vampires – There remain very few Lacusta in the Castle.  Even their King has not been seen in over sixteen thousand years.  However, at least ten Vampires do reside in the Castle.  Once an unfamiliar presence has been sensed, they will go into a hunt mode, not resting until they are found and drained.

Vladimir Lacusta - H.V.I.C. Head Vampire in Charge.  Though, it would be inaccurate to simply describe Vladimir as a vampire.  Vladimir Lacusta is the purest of vampires, his lineage stretching back much further than that of human record.  More appropriately, Vladimir is a demon.  And the only thing keeping him from taking over the world--

Traps Include:

Blood Well – Every floor, wall, crack, nook, cranny, edge, and inch of the castle grounds is connected to an underground chamber.  When blood is spilled, it is drained towards the underground chambers where a monster sleeps.  For many long years, he has not been disturbed.  But with a thirst this powerful, he merely stirs.  It will be nearly impossible to prevent him from waking.

Trick Room – Mirrors in the castle have been laced with magic from the inside out.  Looking into them will likely cause you to go mad, as you may or may not see things that are there.  Or are you even looking into a mirror at all?

Prepare to be Boarded – There is a torture chamber, just on the third floor.  Each tool inside of it is designed to extract blood.  There are heavy wooden tables with nasty spiked buckles and straps, syringes and hooks, and a rotating stone platform designed to have the victim stand up while being strapped to it, and whipped until they bleed.  All of it connected to the Blood Well.

[spoiler=Barren El Dorado]

N85McYs.jpg

The Barren City of El Dorado

Once a haven of gold for the greediest man, El Dorado has since been scavenged, with very little of its gold remaining.  Now, the streets are flooded with markets of gold sellers, beggars, and tourists.  The rivers have run dry, and instead are traveled by foot and horseback.  More than twenty thousand have also made El Dorado their home, over populating the area and causing it to become even more run down than before.  The worst part, is that El Dorado is still incredibly valuable, but no longer in terms of gold.  The markings of the city that will be used will be twenty city blocks, roughly 1.6 km.  Citizens have been evacuated for the events about to occur.  They have also left with a warning.  “Never roam the streets of El Dorado after dark.”

Indigenous Creatures Include:

El Dorado Citizen – Unlikely to be seen in the arena, the average citizen will likely be spying on the fight from afar.  You’ll be wrecking homes and showing disregard for their property.  It will be a spectacle.

El Dorado Bandits – They never roam in groups of less than thirty.  Not three.  Not five.  Not ten.  Thirty.  And they are wicked gunmen with unrivaled marksmanship.  Brandishing pistols, shotguns, rifles, grenades, daggers, and swords, these bandits are highly skilled, and love to pick fights.  You’ll notice them from a mile away, by the sound of their horses, bullets, and whooping.

Bulls – Over the past decade, Bulls have run wild in the streets of El Dorado.  Knowing when the next stampede will occur is almost impossible.  But these wild beasts are nothing short of bullies.  They strike randomly, delivering a rush of adrenaline, and often times, the trampling or goring of a fresh corpse.

Traps Include:

Dynamic Exit – Dynamite Charges have been placed beneath the buildings of the sectioned off portion of El Dorado.  A single detonator has been placed in the exact ten by ten city block section, which would sink the entire area.  I would think about this first.

Dirty Dealings – If and when the city block has sunk, you will be moved to the sewers of the city.  They are highly unstable, and riddled with methane gas.  A single spark could ignite your immediate area and cook you and your opponent alive.  Use with caution.

[spoiler=Cavern of Sirens]

uIFrNMY.jpg

Cavern of Sirens

Magic is a powerful thing, but it is not often found in an object that is not sentient.  In these caverns, the crystals refract a light in such a manner that they ring when they are struck by light from the sun.  The sound is unique and powerful, and often throws those inside into a daze, causing them to enter into a world that doesn’t actually exist.  Though light shines down from the surface, and the surface is visible, escaping the cavern through the holes in its ceiling is impossible.  The light refracted by the crystals in the cavern emits a powerful magic that moves the surface into a separate world, and that barrier cannot be crossed.  What is most frightening about this cavern is the creature that leaves behind these crystals.  Moving, taking, or destroying the crystals is not advised.

Indigenous Creatures Include:

Crystal Badger – A normally peaceful creature, the Crystal’s light has enlarged these beasts to six feet long and eight feet high.  They lay crystals throughout the cavern, and gain strength from them.  Their claws are enormous and razor sharp.  Not to mention their enormous mouths and heavy bodies.  These Badgers weigh more than a thousand pounds.

Crystal Tortoise – Though it bares Siren Crystals, the Crystal Tortoise is not dangerous.  He only eats crystals, and his only prey is the Behemoth that resides inside the cavern.  Their shells are even more dense than the crystals themselves, often seeming to be so inherently black, that the shells absorb light.  At four feet tall and six hundred pounds, this adorable tortoise could actually be quite beneficial to those inside.

Crystal Ghoul – Wielding a make shift axe of crystal, the Ghoul runs on two legs, stands at five feet, and its purple skin allow sit to blend in well with the cavern itself.  They are quite aggressive, and will strike at any and every opponent, regardless of the difference in strength.

Crystal Dragon – Though they are very docile, the Dragons are not afraid to attack if threatened.  They reside mostly near the crystal lake, guarding the Egg of Life.  It is rare, but Crystal Dragons are the only breed of dragon that have not been killed off.  Mainly because of their additional resistance to magic, and their diamond hard skin, they have warded off those who would hunt them for many a millennium.  Their powerful breath magic stuns foes, and puts them into a similar confusing daze as if they were to hear the ringing of Siren Crystals.

Crystal Behemoth – The creature’s existence has been recorded three separate times.  Each time, it has revealed itself beneath the surface of the Siren’s Song Pool, in protection of the Egg of Life.  The Behemoth, to be exact, looks very similar to dragon, but has a less elongated body, in favor of a larger head, longer, more powerful horns, four legs, and powerful reflective scales.  It is invulnerable to magic, but its scaly skin is soft, and can be penetrated by a blade.  However, getting close to the Behemoth is a death wish.  It owns a ten-foot tail, dipped in magic.  Once the creature has its tail wrapped around you, your body will numb, and you will go into a trance of extreme proportions.  Your mind will wander into a utopia, and you will die a quick, painless death as the Behemoth crushes your spine.

Crystal Siren – A seaserpent with the head and torso of a woman, who’s skin is made of crystal, and whose tail is made of diamond hard scales.  They sing an intoxicating song in an attempt to lure the foolish into their waters, to feed the Behemoth.

Traps Include:

The Egg of Death – In the heart of the cavern, light radiates ever so differently, reflecting from the surface of the Siren’s Song Pool, and turning a dim purple.  Inside is a magical egg, rumored to grant anyone who devours it eternal life.

Siren Song Pool – Any creature not adapted to the magic of the Cave of Sirens will be in for a rude awakening.  Stepping in to these waters, the Sirens will only be glad.  The water is deathly cold, and will paralyze those who touch it.

Siren Crystals – Littered throughout the cavern, the Crystals can be destroyed, but doing so will enrage nearby Crystal creatures, excluding the Crystal Tortoise.  The Crystal Badger is especially alert to this, and will find the destroyed crystal wherever it may be.

[spoiler=The Burning Maw]

The Burning Maw

PB0EXzO.jpg

A once dormant island, the Burning Maw is all that remains of a once heavily populated tropical home.  An unnatural, unstoppable flow of magma has--over the course of several decades--continued to reform the island.  The Burning Maw got its name for the shape of the large, mouth like cliffs that lay on its east and west sides.  The Maw's magma flow stems from the very center of the isle, coming from a deep and lengthy well inside of the island, far beneath its surface.  Before the well erupted and eventually ran the inhabitants off the island, there were rumors that something could be heard stirring in the magma below.  Some have even claimed to have seen something look back at them, blinking.  Whether or not that is true remains a mystery, as they instability of the ground of the Burning Maw makes it a questionable place to visit.  The very ground is weak, and though there are some safe patches of rock to stand on, digging too deeply or stepping on the wrong crack could result in a fatal fall into the magma that churns beneath your feet.

There is also a large cavern to the south of the island.  It has been on the island since before it was inhabited by humans, and remains long after they have gone.  It is encrusted by molten rock, and a magma plume spills over top of it, leaving magma to gently roll over its sides.  Inside, a treacherous, man made path has been carved.  Stone steps lead deep into the bowels of the island, with magma surrounding it.  If one isn't careful, a slip on these stairs most certainly means death.  And if you were to find yourself at the very bottom of the island, the heart of the magma well awaits.

And it is beating.

Indigenous Creatures Include:

Vulcan Jester - A sinister creature, rumored to never sleep.  It is said that the Jester is the source of the ever spewing magma that forms the Burning Maw, but no one has ever seen it to describe it.  Its presence is unexplained, as no one understands how anything could survive the heat that only grows as you go deeper into the island.  Perhaps the Jester is even hotter than the island itself.

Traps Include:

Slippery Slope - The Burning Maw--for an island--has many steep points that aren't apart of its mountainous, rocky structure.  Climbing is very difficult on the island, and slipping is probably the last thing you will ever do.  Unless screaming counts.

Hot Foot - The rocky patches of ground that are on the island aren't very trust worthy.  You could wind up sinking right into a patch of magma.  Or you could have the ground broken beneath your feet,and you could fall that way.

Firestorm - The wind that carry over the island will always be warm and uncomfortable.  But occasionally, you'll get a heavier draft of wind from the north of the island.  When the wind reaches the island magma well.  Being that these winds are much cooler before they reach the well, the warmer air around the well will not blend well with the wind, causing a sudden updraft, and creating a funnel cloud.  A funnel cloud of fire.

[spoiler=Thunder Dome]

Thunder Dome – Abandoned Atlantis Shell

The “Lost City of Atlantis” is a falsehood.  Not because it does not exist, but because it is not a city.  In fact, one would say to you that Atlantis is not a city at all.  Because it is something more.  It is a country.  Atlantis is not a single city.  Atlantis is, in fact, able to cover more than the entirety of the bottom of the Pacific Ocean.  It is large enough that if it were to surface, it would completely cover the United States of America, and reach half-way to Europe.  But for this special occasion, a single abandoned dome of Atlantis was permitted to be purchased, and used to hold a massive brawl until the fighters or host were content.

Don’t let the size of the dome fool you.  In and of itself, it is in face one of the largest arenas, with Lacusta Castle and its surrounding land following a close second.  Inside of the Thunder Dome, for the purpose of the contest in question, the water has been drained.  But what remains is a beautiful, but small, quaint town, at only two hundred square miles.  Its buildings are built of composite marble and steel, with shaved glass windows, much more thin than the enhanced composite marble glass used to sustain the massive pressure of the water that surrounds the dome.

And though this is one of the most beautiful arenas one may battle in, it is in fact one of the most fragile.  Enhanced marble composite glass, while powerful, can still be broken.  And a single crack in the dome would mean an almost inevitable shattering, unleashing millions upon millions of gallons of water in a matter of seconds into the dome.  The pressure on impact would be enough to level the city immediately, likely killing whoever is inside.  And if somehow one were to survive such an event, the dangers of deep, open ocean waters are far greater than what you might find inside the Thunder Dome.

Traps Include:

Thunder Clap – There exists a single device located in the very center of the Thunder Dome, stretching up forty stories into a single skyscraper, built with the sole purpose of destroying the dome.  It is an energized rod made of adamantium steel, locked into a cannon.  To fire it, one must simply go into the basement of the tallest skyscraper, labeled “Matar”, and find the console.  On it, a locked box with key are marked for extreme caution.  Turning the key will launch the battering rod into the dome, shattering it immediately.  The Atlantean People could easily survive the destruction of the dome.  But could you?

[spoiler=Godstone Valley]

Godstone Valley

RSnpxZl.jpg

Godstone valley is the smallest of arenas, being a mere thousand square feet.  It is birthplace to the Four Great Ones, and one of the few places left on earth that is still magically enchanted.  There are no traps or other species surrounding it.  In fact, the Godstone Valley is ominously quiet.  The Four Great Ones used to rarely visit this place, if only to meditate or heal themselves.  But it is said fighting on these grounds is forbidden, and will call down the wrath of --.

Razerhill City

Razer Hill is enormous.  Even so, it is still only third of the largest arenas.  It is larger than El Dorado, and stretches more than fifty thousand square miles.  For the sake of the upcoming battle, the city has been divide in half, with only the lower half below the mountains being accessible.  The lower twenty-five thousand square miles that are available have been evacuated, for fear that civilian casualties could be involved.  The power to the lower half of the city remains on, allowing access to electricity and machinery, but you won’t find much else.  The trains have stopped running, and cars have been moved.  The lower half of the city has been designated a war-zone for all intents and purposes, ever since a new man rolled into town.

[spoiler=Cursed Battleground of the Xiang Great War]

pNI8Iei.jpg

Once a battle ground for a great war in the 1700s, the Xiang War Memorial Grounds have become a place destined for only the greatest of battles to occur.  However, because so much bloodshed has happened here, rumors have it that the land has become cursed with the will of the dead.  The ground is soft and wet, but shallow.  It is not fertile, and what little water covers the land is filthy.  Even animals feel as though the battlegrounds are not a place in which they should seek a home.  The mountains surround the memorial on all sides, leaving a mere kilometer of earth between them.  It is a place that has not seen life in over one hundred years.  And yet, there is a strange aura about the Xiang Battle Grounds.  It as though something is stirring beneath the earth.

[spoiler=A-W Underground Network]

VhN8MJ1.png

nA6X3L9.jpg

A-W Underground Network

The A-W or Alternate World Network was once one of the world's best kept secrets.  However, after its discovery in late 2073, word spread like wildfire.  Comprised of what can only be described as other worldly technology, the A-W Network is built up of many ships, carriers, and housings from a world outside of Earth.  Judging by some of the composite rock and sediment surrounding the network, and its complete structure being underground even as of 2088, it is believed to have been there for well over two thousand years.  However, only recently since its discovery has it become more infamous.  Not for its alien technology.  Rather, for the number of disappearances since its discovery fifteen years ago.  More than two thousand people have gone missing, exploring the A-W Network.  It is a massive two hundred kilometers wide, and one hundred and fifty kilometers deep, so getting lost here is something explorers have expected.

However, getting killed in this place is not something anyone can prepare for.  Since it's discovery by the human race in 2073, the lights and power sources throughout this great other-worldly sub-city have been active.  And it has only been since then that the many traps and secrets held within the Network have slowly been revealed.  But what is most strange is that these fatal surprises that have caught many explorers and scientists off guard, have been well placed and are very conveniently timed.  It's almost as though someone, or something is trying to ward off intruders.  It wants them to stay out.  Unfortunately for the contestants and the five kilometer space they'll be fighting in, whatever it is, is already ready and waiting for them.

Traps Include:

Diced - A powerful laser grid has been rigged to cross the Network tubing on command.  A series of sixteen crossed, red hot beams will sweep a designated Network Tube on command, from back to front.  And because the Network Tubes are the only way in and out of the Network, anything caught in those tunnels will be fried the instant it touches the grid.

Cloudy with a Chance of Death - There has to be someway the beings who left the A-W Network here, managed to keep the Network clean.  And it just so happens that they left behind enough of their own special cleansing mist to feed to any rowdy masses, or to be rid of any missed pests.  And its set to spread throughout the entire facility excluding the control room.  Who knew?

Mess Hall - Once a 'cafeteria' for whomever used to live in the Network, has now become a feeding ground for some rather strange creatures the likes of which Earth has never seen.  And the stench is nothing to sniff at.

Crossfire - Mounted inside of the walls throughout the Network are powerful weapons that fire concentrated beams of heat in short bursts. They are fully automated, but have been powered down for some time.  With the flick of a switch, they can be powered and used to eliminate intruders with ease.  And since these 'laser turrets' are packed with enough ammo to last them another thousand years, there's a good chance the guy running this joint is going to use them.

Bi-pod Barrage - A silo of seven thousand missiles is stored in the heart of the facility.  Of course they are of alien technology, but they can be used if you have access to the control room.  And these missiles are intelligent.  Heat-seeking, high impact, intelligent missiles.

Prepare for Trouble - A series of hidden passages somewhere below the Network.  Along these passages, emergency security blockades can be raised and lowered to control the passageway of Network Tubing.  But there is only one way to access the controls to those blockades.  And contestants don't have access to it.

And Make it Double - If you think you're seeing double now, wait till you get a load of the A-W Network's Image Replication Device.  It can cast a selected hologram anywhere aboard the ship, and you had better believe that these holograms were worth the penny spent.  Unlike most holograms, they hurt.

Doomsday - Everyone needs a last resort.  Just push the big red button in the control room.  Go ahead.  Do it.

[spoiler=Accepted Applications]

  1. Bethany Cunningham - BasedLord CowCow
Lace XIII - Lvl 19 Hollow "Jack" - VCR_CAT Louis Ebon - Mr. Hyde Mango - Yui Kai Alvarado - Admiral_Stalfos19 Rawal Torai - Tayla Lider T-EN4 Seraph Angelica - Ain

Honorable Mention:

  1. Xia - Skaia ; I never thought I'd say this, but she's under powered.  I fell in love with her design, and her backstory works well with pre-established arenas and bits of story in GGE.  However, she fell short when it came right down to it.  For a half-dragon born of a god, she feels underwhelming.
Akira Mizutani - Cuteketsuki ; Kinetic energy is fun. I like that he's designed to be very competitive, naturally making him a solid piece for the RP. You established some great story with the origin of ESPers, but what really lacked for me is the bio.  It is by no means bad.  I'm assuming however you ran out of time and began plugging bits in, and that's why it came off as rushed to me.  It begins on a high note and slowly trails off towards the end. Kraso Hinaks - Dova ; This is an application I was personally invested in.  Different species are one thing, but aliens are another.  Having an extra-terrestrial being be apart of the main cast would have been very influential.  However, per my words, I cannot accept Kraso due to the WIP tag.  He appears finished.  I'm sure he is.  However, I think time and real life instances may have kept you from catching that last bit of importance with his WIP tag.  It came right down to the little details, and this is one that unfortunately didn't make the cut.

Deciding the final cast was not easy.  Though it may seem to have gone by quickly, I can assure you I considered each and every character carefully (from their names, history, and capabilities, right down to their creators).  For those of you in Honorable Mention, I may have a different slot for you not among the main cast that I'm hoping appeals to you; please send me a Private Message or buzz me on Skype.

For those of you who made the cut, congratulations.  I look forward to working with you.  If you did not make the cut and you were not among honorable mention, please don't take it personally.  Again, this was not easy for me to decide, but the selected cast are those I feel fit best among the GGE story and setting, and they were selected with utmost care.  If you'd like to discuss your cut, I'm happy to answer any and all questions for my reasoning through Private Message or Skype Message.  And again, thank you for your patience.

Please feel free to ask questions or inquire about things you think I may have missed.  Chances are if I didn't copy it from the original thread, that those things will not be canon in this timeline of the RP.  However, if there's something above that seems to be off or I made a mistake somewhere, lemee know.

Looking forward to having you all.

[spoiler=Just A Regular Girl]Name:  Bethany Cunningham. Was named after my Grams, she was a nice lady, so I don’t mind. Last name my brother says was our dad’s. Might be, might not be, doesn’t mean much to me. I like rabbits though so it’s not all bad.
Gender: I know it’s hard to tell what with the long hair and, you know, breasts, but yeah I’m a girl.
Age:  22; time sure flies when you’re doing nothing with your life don’t it?
Species: Just your plain old boring human here.
[spoiler=Appearance]D5I9ziF.jpg?1
So...I have to describe myself now? Awkward. I’m 5‘7“, kinda tall, I suppose. Not one of those gals who care about her weight much. It’s somewhere around 134 pounds. My hair? Well, it’s kind of a mess. It’s so red, probably my dad’s influence. Mom was a blonde. Brother was a blonde. Everyone a blonde but me. Plus it just doesn’t like to lay flat, always getting in the way. Still, can’t bring myself to cut it, mom always preferred it longer...Well, anyway. Not much else to say I guess, right? Oh, the clothes. Yeah, I wear warm clothing a lot. You’ll...get why soon.

[spoiler=Biography]This is where I explain where I came from and all that? Mind you most of the beginning stuff I learned from my brother. My mom got together with my dad at some kind of event. He was hosting a party or charity I don't really know. In any case he met my mom, thought she was pretty, and proceeded to court her for two straight years. Sounds romantic right? Or creepy. The two words aren't all that far apart I guess. So anyway once they finally got together they, er, got together. My brother was born before the wedding. I followed a whopping fourteen years later. Things went wrong fast. Dad left. No one would tell me why so I kind of pieced together it was cause of me.

See, I suppose you could say my birth wasn't the most pleasant thing. Turns out my dad was a magician of sorts. Not like a street performer. Someone with real magic. He got my mom into it. But she was...well she was never good at being careful. Something happened that made her get sick, real sick, then she had me. Then she died four years later. Brother raised me with the help of Grams, until...well she died too. Was never quite sure what happened with that one. She was a healthy old lady but I guess that sort of thing happens right?

So then it's me and my brother. Ah, guess I should tell his name, sorry this is kind of weird for me. Conner. Conner basically raised me, best he could, really was the best brother anyone could have. He got sick. He didn't die like mom. Just went into a coma. Not that it's much better. So there was me, twelve years old, alone, and just finding out I am a freak.

sheet sorry I should have explained that first. I've never talked about this stuff. I guess when your parents are way into magic sometimes you get some of that mumbo jumbo running through your veins. Too bad for me I apparently got a triple dose. I was born with magic. A kid with magic is not exactly the best thing. Especially ice magic. I froze the house twice. Really embarrassing. Luckily it was Winter and we called it "extreme Christmas decorating". Conner was brilliant at making this crap up, no idea how everyone always believed him when he made excuses for me.

In any case that was rough. Still is rough. Don't really want to talk about that. Doesn't matter for this anyway.

Where was I...right, alone and a freak. Turns out I'm not the only person with those circumstances. Found a whole gaggle of kids who were abandoned and lost. Seems the big city doesn't quite like those types so I had to grow up fast. Was the oldest there and I guess it kinda became my responsibility to fight for them. The magic came in handy here. No one wants to mess with orphans that can make blizzards.

It was great, sorta, except you know...starving, cold, homeless...okay it was sheet. Then it got shittier. Killed a guy. A few guys. Cops. Magic is scary as hell. Kind of decided not to use it when I could help it. Granted that wasn't always possible. So I learned how to actually fight. I was good. Super good. It kind of is upsetting how good. I just kept getting better. Probably also some kind of magic but at least I never killed anyone with my fists.

But then I get this letter. Some wack-job handed it off to me and told me it was important. I read it. Threw it away. Got like twenty more of the things until I finally started to take it seriously. Me in a tournament? It's ridiculous. But that's a lot of money. I might be able to save the kids with it. I might...be able to save Conner. I might not be the best but I have my eyes on that prize at least as much as anyone else.

[spoiler=Personality] So...this is like those school projects where I list my good and bad qualities? Never was good at that. Well here goes....I've been told I'm a nice person but that's probably just cause I really don't want any trouble. Causing a stir just isn't my style. It's all so pointless. The biggest thing I learned from the streets, god that sounds tougher than I really am seriously, is that the only way to really win fights is not to fight.

Kind of stupid to join a fighting tournament then right? I never claimed to be smart. I'm kind of an idiot probably honestly. Never really was good with learning or anything like that. I guess I relied on whatever experience I gained and instincts to get through the day. Worked for me up until now.

Except that I kinda tend to stick to myself. Those kids I protect? Some of them don't even know my name. I talk, yeah, for sure. What kind of cruel person wouldn't chat up a storm to those scared and lonely kids? Course I talk to adults too, probably just a habit at this point.

I guess I just don't really feel comfortable opening up. I wouldn't say something cheesy like my emotions are as cold as my magic but...It's definitely harder than it should be to really get a grasp on how I feel. Never really hammered down much about myself. Except that I want to make sure I don't die. I might be a bit too scared of that honestly. I'm totally ashamed of this but I can't be certain I wouldn't do something bad to keep myself alive.

Maybe I am a cruel person after all. I suppose as long as I keep fighting for those kids it'll give me some karma points? Or does me thinking that mean those are null? Why the hell is philosophy so complicated? I don't want to have to think about this. But I can't help it you know? These thoughts just come out.

I guess overall I don't like who I am right now. People seem to like being around me. Sometimes I can pry laughter out of them. People in general aren't hard to make laugh Especially kids. Just gotta "trip" on something and they're laughing up a storm.

Suppose I just don't want people to know how bitter and twisted I can be. I can't let those kids know I think about dying so much. Nor that I contemplate using my abilities to get what I want. They don't need to know my struggles. God knows they have more than enough of them without me dumping that baggage onto the poor things.

[spoiler=Combat Info]Weapon(s) of choice:

Generic Pistol: I don't like it. I really don't. But sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

Gloves: These things are so durable. Managed to get some custom made. No idea what the guy did to them and I'm pretty sure it was illegal but I've punched things I really shouldn't be able to punch without hurting myself.

Boots: Same deal with the gloves. Except you know. More kicking.

Power Array: Like I said. Ice magic. I like it less than the gun but this is for what I can do not what I want to do. So far there's a few things I've discovered I can do with ice.

Creating an icy wind that spreads out in a sort of cone. Tends to reach around 10 feet forward and comes out at a 45 degree angle of cold. If caught in it first you slow then you freeze.

I can also send out these spears of ice. But if I go to fast it'll tire me out. I figure I can pump out one every few seconds. If I focus I can form several before letting them fly.

Then there's that blizzard I mentioned. It's what it sounds like. A large area around me gets covered in a snowy, hail-filled, mini-storm. Drains me the longer I keep it up though.

...I've experimented in the past with something else. A sort of icy laser beam. Probably can only do it once without rest and it's really devastating. Not something I want to mess with much.

And then there's that fighting ability I talked about.Nothing fancy, nothing professional, street fighting is best I can say but it's worked wonders for me. Helps that these probably black market gloves (seriously why did he sell me these so cheap?) make me be able to grab onto even sharp objects.

[spoiler=Misc]

Battle Theme

-Yeah the ice stuff...kinda makes my body pretty damn cold. Hence the clothes. I even sleep fully clothed.

-I'm sure you guessed it but kids are most definitely my weakness. But also my strength, ya know? Yeah, corny as hell.

-I love soup. Seriously. Soup is the best. Like it can be anything. Anything! Isn't that amazing!?

[spoiler=He Who Should Not Exist]Original Name: Rutger the Unwavering
Current Alias: The Knight/Sir Knight/Knight
Gender: Male
Age: Physically 37, born over 1000 years ago
Species: Immortal Human
[spoiler=Appearance]jSNr1xY.jpg?1
Rutger stands at 5‘10“ which was fairly tall for his day. Without armor he weighs 180 pounds. He is muscular but lean, with various battle scars all throughout his body. His hair, once cut short, has grown out during his time in the modern age. He once sported a larger beard but, with the newfound technology, he realized he could afford to keep it trimmed without wasting much time. His eyes, which were a cornflower blue, now have a soft glow to it that intensifies whenever he uses the powers he was forced into.
The armor he wears isn’t his own but instead a recreation of the armor he once wore, stripped of all coat of arms, which was the one thing he allowed Sergei to give to him for this tournament. It’s much more durable than his old armor, though he doesn’t quite understand the technology that made it so. All he knows is that it was made to withstand the modern weaponry about as well as his old armor did medieval weaponry.

Also wears a helmet when in battle.

[spoiler=Biography] Rutger was a Lord knight in days gone past. He controlled a small, but important, area of his homeland, and served his king with conviction and honesty. When the king went to war, Rutger was right alongside him, with his loyal group of knights, called “The Unwavering Warriors” by most. The war was a long one, and it tested Rutger’s sword arm, and his loyalty.
For during this war Rutger noticed things about his liege. It seemed the man was changing as the years went on. It seemed he was desperate to win this war, which had gone on for five years with no sign of ending, and he was beginning to make more and more drastic, and distressing, orders. Kidnapping the child of one of the enemies generals to force a surrender, sending plague ridden refugees across borders, and, worse still, using Dark Arts.
Rutger was already questioning if his king was worthy of serving when he learned of the latter. Some of his knights had gone missing after a recent loss and, knowing they had been injured, he began to search the war camp for them. They weren’t in the infirmary, nor their barracks, and he began to panic. Each of his soldiers were important to him, he knew them all by name, and their families by name, and he refused to believe they just left.
He decided to seek an audience with his king, in the hopes that the man had just sent them somewhere else, but was denied entrance. He was ready to wait for the king to emerge when he heard a sharp cry of pain. Recognizing the voice he barged into the tent, knocking aside the guard, and found a horrible scene.
The king, and a mysterious robed man, with a necklace of bones, was standing by an alter of some sort. His missing knights were upon this alter, bodies torn open and organs lay bare, with the man chanting some kind of spell.
Rutger rushed in and, in a fit of rage, stabbed the man. This didn’t stop the spell but instead set it off prematurely. Rutger found himself beset by a strange force and intense pain ripped through his entire self.
He woke up with a start to an extremely unfamiliar scene. White walls, people in strange garb, unusual, demonic looking to the knight, devices. He was restrained to a table and, upon realizing this, started to pull at the restraints. “Don’t bother.” One of the men around him said. “Those restraints were meant to hold titans, you won’t...” Rutger burst from the restraints and grabbed the man by the throat.
Rutger felt something stab into his neck and he slept once more.
He woke again in a room, alone, with a large mirror in front of him. He saw himself for the first time, saw the strange blue glow in his eyes, and he knew he had been cursed, somehow.
A voice spoke suddenly, coming from a box above the mirror, and he learned what had happened to him.
He had been struck by dark magic, and forced into a coma, for over a thousand years. What happened to his king, the war, or his knights are unknown. Evidently even his king’s name has been buried in the confusing and conflicting record of history. The magic that sent him into a coma also seemed to have given him powers beyond his imagination. And it is because of those powers that he was brought here, to a laboratory owned by one Sergei Nikolaev. That man came to Rutger, whose name he refused to give and would only be referred to as “The Knight” from then on, and told him he was to take part in a tournament to gain his freedom.
Rutger refused. And Rutger was left in the dark, without food or water, for a week. Once more Sergei appeared, asking again. Rutger realized he would die in this place, alone and forgotten, unless he did something about it. And so he accepted. On the condition that he be allowed to fight in his own name, for his own self, without any ties to Sergei.

[spoiler=Personality]Rutger is a just and noble man. Or rather, he hopes he is. He has concerns that the dark magic somehow affected his very soul. Once a man of mercy, he, during a battle against someone Sergei set up to make sure he would be allowed into the tournament, had the chance to spare his opponent. Yet he did not and struck him down even while he kneeled in defeat.
He still tries to be noble however. He refuses to attack when an opponent cannot see him and he speaks politely to those he meets. But he is a troubled man. He believes he was cursed this way due to his own failings. He constantly relives his last moments in his own time and is disgusted how it all happened. He doesn’t even hate his king, nor the wizard, for what happened. He should have noticed something was amiss much earlier. He should have been more patient, more careful, when confronting his king. He will forever hate himself for his failures.
His lack of anger at his king would seem to imply he has learned to turn the other cheek. But, he’s disgusted to realize, he is quite the bitter man. He hates Sergei for whatever he did to bring him out of that coma. For forcing this fight, that wasn’t rightfully his, upon him.
Rutger struggles intensely with the memories of the war, and the other battles he took part of. In this new world, with all its different views, he realizes that he could very well have been wrong for believing in the honor of his lifestyle. He has nightmares, sometimes while awake, about those he killed. Whom he can picture with startling clarity that he didn’t believe he had before. He still believes he was right for protecting his people but he now questions if he could have done it differently.
He has learned much about this world, as he couldn’t help but devour all the information he could, and is sickened. He sees in this world the same darkness that his king fell into. Yet, he cannot bring himself to feel righteous despite knowing how evil the world has become. For he believes he is not any better. He wants to help this world in some way yet also can’t stop thinking he is too broken to do anything about it.
However he isn’t the type to just stand by. He would gladly fight against adversity...if only he knew how. He has a strong desire to defeat all evil he finds....yet he is unsure he isn’t evil himself.
He is a lost soul. He knows he has no place in this world anymore. Yet he keeps fighting. For he doesn’t know what else to do. There is always a sense of nihilism in his demeanor. He keeps going but seems to believe that it doesn’t actually matter what he does. He has no place. He should not even exist. But he can’t bring himself to stop. The only thing he truly has kept from his old life is his unwavering spirit. He can’t give up. Even if he doesn’t know what he is fighting for.

[spoiler=Combat Information]Weapon(s) of choice:  The only weapon, technically, Rutger has is his broadsword (depicted in the image). However he does not unsheathe it ever. It was found with him in his coma, grasped tightly in his hand.

Power Array:
Titan’s Strength: Rutger has extreme physical strength, able to tear through metal with ease.
Aspect of a Warrior: This is Rutger’s main power and it has three forms. Each of the forms can appear and disappear at will.
The Spear Relatively short, as far as spears go, as its the same height as Rutger himself. This weapon has the ability to emit a blinding light that lasts for three seconds, doesn’t affect Rutger, and can only be used once every several minutes. It can disorient a target, however Rutger doesn’t attack until his foe’s eyes have cleared. Used as a means to escape a tricky situation. The spear is capable of piercing through steel with ease.
The Axe A one-handed battle axe. It has the ability to, when Rutger slams it into the ground, cause either a wall, or spike, of ground to shoot up from the point he strikes. The axe is also able to cleave through magic.
The Shield. A shield that is impossible to destroy and offers protection from even magical attacks. Three feet high.
Sword of Truth: A power that even he does not know about. For it can only be unleashed when he unsheathes his sword.

[spoiler=Misc]Warrior’s Theme

“Nature...at least nature has not been totally corrupted.”
“This...Internet you speak of. It is quite the place. But what is this? lol? smh? brb? It seems I have not quite mastered your modern language yet.”
“I have learned this country has many veteran warriors forced to live on the streets. Surely something must be done about this?”
“This ‘Sir Ulrich von Liechtenstein' he has the right idea. I hope he wins his match!"

[spoiler Lace XIII, The Living Memory]

"Just like you, I'm fighting for myself... or rather, to carve out who that person is!"

Name: Lace XIII
Gender: Female
Age: Mentally 20 Phsyically 2
Species: Artificial Human

[spoiler=Appearance]
Touhouvania%20-%20Youmu.jpg
Lace stands at 5'8 and weighs a lean 154 pounds. With her soft gray hair, pale lavender eyes, and slender build Lace's appearance is often times compared to that of doll. Having been created, destroyed and redesigned multiple times by S.E.E.D's scientists, her features are unnaturally perfected, and though beautiful, are a clear indicator that she is not a normal human.

[spoiler=Biography]

XIII's story begins long before she was created. After loosing his daughter to a terminal illness, a brilliant scientist by the of name Doctor Brooks turned to his research to reunite him with young Lace. Having been responsible for countless breakthroughs in the practice of integrating magic into scientific studies and experiments, if anyone were to able to bring a soul back from the grave, it would be Brooks...

Through years of tireless research and development, Brooks managed find a way to produce a artificial copies of his daughter's soul. Now able to maintain the memories of his daughter, the good doctor pressed on to find a suitable host for the soul.Though it would seem that he lacked funding to create a living vessel that wouldn't deteriorate from the strain of having the artificial soul tethered to it.

After countless failures, word of Brook's experiments reached the ear of a very wealthy figure that saw the potential in the doctors experiment. The mysterious benefactor offered Brook's near unlimited funding and a massive new research facility along with everything else he possibly needed for the revival of his daughter. In exchange, they wished for his aid in using his research on artificial souls to create a soldier that could be killed and recreated whilst still retaining their skills. Accepting the offer out of desperation, Brooks spent the next ten years as the head of the S.E.E.D project.

With the disgusting amount of resources and money pumped into the project, it was only a matter of time before Brooks met his first success. Engineered with a body strong enough the house the artificial soul, Lace I was physically perfect in almost every way. Per the agreement with the benefactor, she was trained under extreme conditions, and pushed to the very brink of her physical limit before soon dying from the stress her body undertook.

After extracting the artificial soul, S.E.E.D would then make a copy of it, before moving the soul into the next body, a clone of the original. The copy of the soul would also then be placed into a clone, and stored as a backup in case something were to go wrong during the transfer process. Making use of the fact that the artificial soul retained all of it's experiences and memories, S.E.E.D simply continued Lace's training where the previous body left off, and continued to push her to new limits every lifetime.

This cycle of death proceeded up until Lace XII. Seemingly driven mad by the memories of her former lives and visions of her deaths, Lace XII used the power she had acquired from her twelve lifetimes of training to destroy the S.E.E.D facility, and murder all those connected to it; including doctor Brooks who she left bleed out after hours of brutal torture.

In his final moments, Brooks used the last of his strength to activate Lace XII's backup clone. Awakening in the burning facility with her father pleading for forgiveness, Lace XIII was stricken with a thirst for revenge. Setting out on a journey to find Lace XII, Lace XIII caught the eye of some important people and received an invitation to participate in the tournament. Though she originally had no interest in the prize money, Lace soon realized that this was the perfect opportunity to draw her doppelgänger out of hiding, and if she were to win, she could use the cash to find the mad clone herself. With her eyes on the prize, she accept the offer and was promptly taken to hotel to participate in this death game...

[spoiler=Personality]

Outwardly, Lace appears cold and emotionless to others. She has seen humanity's capacity for cruelty first hand, and though she realizes that there is in fact still good in the world, her pessimistic mentality was engrained in her the moment she died for the forth time in the S.E.E.D facility. Thanks to her training, Lace keeps her cool very well under most circumstances. Additionally, due to having experienced hell on earth multiple times, no matter what her foes do to her, she is always able to come up with a clever albeit dry retort.

Though Lace's pokerface ins't truly indestructible by any means. She is easily surprised by genuinely kind gestures, and though XIII would never admit it, she seeks companionship to some degree. Having lost everything, there is a large part of Lace that feels a deep sense of loneliness. She seems to fill this void in her heart by constantly seeking the thrill of battle and pushing herself by facing strong opponents. However, she is unaware that this thirst for combat is not only a copping mechanism, but has been programed into her by S.E.E.D...

As an identical copy, XIII has retained the same imbalance that caused XII to lash out against S.E.E.D, and is also occasionally plagued by the sporadic memories of her past selves. Though given the unique experience of awakening to find that everything that gave her past lives meaning had been burnt to the ground, XIII's imbalance seems to have manifested itself in a complex revolving around the notion of being an unique individual. Though she has fooled herself into thinking that she wants revenge, this this burning desire to be her own person is what truly drives her to seek out XII so doggedly.

[spoiler=Weapon(s) of choice]

S.E.E.D Magitek Broad Sword "Beowulf": A five footlong blade that was forged by combining both magic and science. Crafted with artificial mythril, this sword is nearly indestructible by conventional means and transmits zero vibrations to it's wielder. Truly one of the fruits of S.E.E.D's research, this blade is able to harm beings that would usually be intangible or even invulnerable to mortal weaponry. Due to it's enhancements, Beowulf is very heavy, and would be unusable were it not for Lace's inherent strength. Consequently, Lace's true speed is always inhibited when carrying both her swords, and she sees a large spike in speed when not carrying Beowulf.

S.E.E.D Magitek Chokuto: A mythril straight sword with a total length of 35 inches. Unbreakable by conventional methods, this blade has been engineered to cut on a cellular level and is Lace's weapon of choice in most situations.

[spoiler=Power Array]

Helter-skelter: A flash-step technique where Lace pushes her speed to the very limit. Moving faster than the human eye can trace, she blinks to the target location, leaving an afterimage in her wake. When not carrying Beowulf, she is able to create multiple afterimages whilst using this technique.

Iron Lotus: Lace's signature technique. In a masterful and inhuman display of swordsmanship, she preforms multiple blindingly fast sword strokes in what appears to be a single slash. Whilst using this technique, Lace empowers her current weapon with energy from her artificial soul. Causing it to glow with a shimmering blue aura, and increasing each slash's strength and cutting potential significantly.

Magnum Locust: A skill which changes in nature depending on what weapon it is being used with. Lace places her current weapon in it's scabbard, then channels energy from her soul through it before releasing a ranged attack in the form of a draw slash. When used with her straight sword, each swing of the blade releases a cutting beam of energy towards the target at frightening speed. However, when used with her broad sword, Lace's swing lets loose a concussive shockwave that is better suited for crushing targets or deflecting projectiles.

13th Phantasm: Stringless Puppet's Performance : As the main focus of the S.E.E.D program, Lace's body as been engineered purely for combat and survivability. Her physical capabilities extend beyond peak human parameters despite her slim build, and though she does not brandish an active healing factor, her capacity to function after receiving what would be mortal injuries is beyond that of most normal organisms. This is due to the fact that her current body is simply a constructed host that her artificial soul is attached to in a manner very similar to possession. Using this technique, Lace can use energy from her artificial soul to control her vessel as one would a puppet, allowing her to move freely despite paralysis, broken limbs, or any other injury that would impede her vessel's movement. Whilst doing so, Lace glows with a shimmering blue aura and is able to pull off greater feats of speed and strength by forcibly pushing her body to it's natural limit and augmenting it with the energy she is using to force it's movement. The technique can cause massive strain to Lace's body if not used carefully, and will be unusable once her soul's energy supply reaches certain levels.

Biography:
You wanna hear some bullshit? Okay, so I came from a very rich family. Not shitting you here. One of the richest, actually. Our family owned a research and tech firm, a big one. We did a lotta contracts, lotta military contracts, and a lotta deals under the table. Now for quite some time, I was "Daddy's little girl"; I was smart, I was pretty, I was the perfect kid for those rich a******s.

Now we get this contract, see? it's a big one, lot of money on the table, but my dad's not sure if we can do it. The project was for a suit, an infiltration suit, that let someone bypass any security system, any lock, even if it wasn't in a network. Hack any system by hacking the hardware. Problem was, neural interface tech wasn't good enough to work with everyone, and they needed to test this new kit.

So who better to test this new tech than Daddy's gifted girl. Oh, no I didn't get a say in this; I just wanted to live a nice, quiet life in the lap of luxury. Next thing I know those dickweeds are drilling holes into my head and ripping up my skin; plugging me into the suit. Of course I was put under for the surgery; they weren't TOTAL monsters. But remember how I said this tech wasn't good enough yet? Yeah, there's the problem. See, now I'm plugged into this tech that lets me hack hardware with my brain, but all that new tech starts messin' with you. There's a lot of pain, you start seein' things, you start hearin' things. Your whole life becomes hell.

So now they got me training on this suit; seeing how good it can be. Hacking different systems, breaking into different places. Eventually these aren't tests anymore; my parents are getting me to break into rival companies, steal information, money, etc. all without a trace. The more I used the suit, the more I get used to the pain, the more I learn to ignore what's not real; but I ain't stupid. I know what those a******s are doing. So I break out; I take that suit, and I escape from that hell they stuck me in.

I spent years on the run; I'm breaking into systems, I'm wiping who I was from the face of the earth. Now, I'm off the grid with a new name; but I'm still stealing and I'm still hurting people. Only now? I'm bringing these a******s down. This whole system's got a screw loose, and I'm gonna bring it down.

Thing is, I don't got the money to really hit that many people and keep myself going; so then I get this message. Don't know how they got it to me; I don't keep any accounts on any public servers and I worked REALLY HARD to get myself off that grid. But I got this message, promising a lot of money if I win a few fights. And if I get that money, I can bring this system down, I can finally bring justice to those a****** parents that did this to me.

Personality:
Jack isn't totally sane, that's for sure. She has an ego, and she doesn't care who gets hurt on the way to achieving her goals; often times she revels in the pain she gets to cause others. However, Jack isn't stupid; she's sane enough to know what's going on and keep herself as a functioning adult; to accomplish her goals. Jack is a very driven individual, and only gives up or backs down from a fight if she's already lost. Jack abhors authority, and hates being told what do; having a strong independence of her own. In fact, she has very few inhibitions in how she talks to others and acts; oftentimes rather volatile if it doesn't matter. It goes without saying that Jack is a rather... unique individual, and definitely one a wise man would step lightly around.

Weapons of choice:
Cipher Bow - A compound bow made of similar synthetic materials as Jack's armor. The Cipher bow is equipped with a long-range scope. As well, its strings are made of a shape-memory material the expands or contracts when a current is applied; allowing the bow to collapse or expand without the need of removing or installing the string. The bow uses arrows made from a nano-forge quiver equipped to Jack's armor and located on her right thigh. This forge manufactures arrows composed of highly advanced nano machines. In most circumstances, these arrows behave as well-made, strong arrows; but on impact these nano machines can infect electronic devices and, through advanced quantum mechanics, "infect" the flow of energy and data within, and take control of the system. Of course, larger systems and networks require more arrows.

Power Array:
  • Vermilion Shadow - Jack's signature armor is made of the most advanced carbon fiber and synthetic materials; creating a tough armor without any metal. This armor also grants improved speed, strength, and reflexes. The armor's composition grants resistance against extreme temperatures, chemicals, and electricity. The helmet is also equipped with air filters and filters on the visor to protect against bright lights and flashes.
  • Hack & Slash - 2 small cube-shaped robots that follow Jack; Hack and Slash are equipped with speakers and hollow projectors as well as a strong area-of-effect electrical burst attack. However, these bursts take a lot of energy and require a significant charge before they can be used more than once. This electrical burst attack be localized to a single, weaker zap to conserve energy for a lighter hit.
  • Vermilion Tether - Cables made from carbon nano-tubes are fed from a winch system on the Shadow's back, along her arms, and through launch systems mounted on the back of the wrists; 3 cables per arm. These cables are equipped with claw-like appendages on the tips, and can be used for advanced maneuvers. These cables fire with enough force to cause injury on impact. If two tethers are connected to a target, an electrical current can be run through wires inside of them.
  • Vermilion Haze - High-pressure canisters located throughout the shadow suit release a thick smoke laced with charged particles. This smoke blinds physically as well as blocks sensors and alternate visuals. These particles cause the smoke to be dangerous to breath for too long as well as electrical damage. A set of 4 canisters only contain enough for one blast (1 canister located in each limb); and in combat Jack usually carries an additional 8.

I'm in. App will go here fite me

[spoiler=Appearance]D5I9ziF.jpg?1

[spoiler=Combat Info]Weapon(s) of choice:

[spoiler=Misc]

So I kinda sorta finished my character

"I go unseen....was that too edgy?"

"Louis...that's a quote from a video game..."

Name:  Louis Ebon

Gender: Male

Age: 27

Species:  Human

[spoiler=Appearance:]

YgUT12e.jpg

Louis is a rather slender male for a man his age, weighing in at just around 68 kg.  He is rather short as well, standing at 179 cm.  He has long blonde hair that he usually keeps tied back in a small ponytail, and has blue eyes.  Along with his slender frame, Louisalso has small feet, only wearing a size 9 in men's shoes.  He can usually be seen wearing clothes that are moderately formal, a vest that is worn over a button up shirt with it's sleeves rolled up.  Complimenting his attire wholeheartedly, he wears black, skin tight pants, and nice black leather shoes

[spoiler=Biography:]

Louis was born in Cannes, France to a rather quiet and easy going family.  His parents were well off, and took great care of them, but there was always something holding Louis back from loving them.  As a matter of fact, there were many people in his life that he rather didn't care for, so he always was alone.  He'd rather be by himself than have to deal with all the voices in his head telling him that those people didn't really care about him.  No matter how alone he tried to be, he had the feeling that he was never truly alone...something was always with him...but he could just never see it.  Upon his tenth birthday, that entity decided to reveal itself to Jacques, introducing itself as Basabth.  Basabth was Jacques' first companion.  Basabth told Louis that he had been watching him since he was a child, and that he was the only one that truly ever loved Jacques...Louis brought him into this world!

However, ever since meeting Basabth, and learning what he was capable of, Louis took to a rather rebellious lifestyle.  He wasn't like the others, he was special.  He had Basabth...so why did he have to conform to normal rules?  It started out as petty theft...no one could see a small hand creep from the shadows and grab a candy bar.  But as he grew older, the crimes escalated.  Banks were no match for what Basabth was capable of.  However, Basabth wasn't the only person watching Louis this whole time.  A black ops French agency caught wind of who Louis was, and what he had at his disposal.  Louis wouldn't know, but his whole life would change when that same agency kidnapped him.

They didn't hurt him...nor did they play with his mind.  They offered him way more than he possibly could want in this world.  Immunity...a license to kill...he would work where he was incredible at working, in the shadows.  Of course, it didn't happen right away.  After all, becoming a secret government agent required a lot more training than he had ever figured he would need, but they would prove useful in his future endeavors.  When his organization caught wind of a certain tournament being held in America, they made sure that Louis would receive an invitation.  But little did they know that Louis had decided he had outgrown this whole operation...he would dismantle France from the shadows, and create his own shadowy organization in it's place.

[spoiler=Personality]

Conniving as he is cunning, Louis, despite his looks, is quite the evil bastard.  He's very manipulative and always gets what he wants.  He doesn't care what means he has to take to make sure his actions are justified, as long as it benefits him in some way in the end.  The only person in his life that he feels connected to is Basabth, and cares about it deeply, and the feeling is mutual.  When under his guise to lower people's defenses, he tries to play himself off as a classic goofball.

[spoiler=Weapon(s) of choice:]

Garrote - Louis' killing tool of choice.  Since he is able to sneak around, this tool for quick and soundless kills is guaranteed to let him leave the scene without making a mess

Flash Grenade - A grenade that emits a large flash of light, causing the affected area to be encased in shadows, and blinding a target.

[spoiler=Power Array:]

Shadow Manipulation - Louis can control the shape, and tangibility of shadows around him.  So far he has only been able to control two sources of shadow at a time, not including his own.  With his shadows, he can create inky, and tangible constructs.  While controlling them, he can manipulate the hardness of his shadowy constructs, or even the sharpness.  With this power, Louishas been able to create shadowy arrows and swords, that can move according to Jacques' own thoughts.

Shadow Sneak - Louis can take residence within his own shadow, where Basabth also lives when not in sight.  This is a pocket dimension that is not accessible to anyone besides Louisand Basabth.  However, his shadow is still visible in the outside realm, and non-living objects can still pass through.  This is why he usually hides his shadow in the shadow of other objects, to obscure his visibility while residing in this space.  Louis usually stores a lot of stuff in his shadow, and can release these objects in other shadows he is currently controlling.

Shadthrow: If Louis connects his shadow to that of an inanimate object, he is able to toss and move the shadow as if it were as light as air.  Upon throwing or moving that object's shadow, the object itself will take a trajectory to that of the way it's being moved.  He is able to change environments to quickly suit him.

[spoiler=Basabth]

[spoiler=1st Form]

zIBHNDE.png

Basabth is the entity that is constantly attached to it's owner, mainly manifesting from Louis' own shadow.  It can take a total of 3 forms, depending on how dire it's owners situation is.  As of now, Basabth has yet to transform to his second form, usually sticking to his small and cutesy form.  In this form, Basapth is incredibly fast, but not as strong as his other forms.  Any damage that Basabth receives is also inflicted upon Louis.

[spoiler=2nd Form]

"Ooh I'd just love to give you a big hug! But, uh...that's a bad idea."

Name: Experiment XRT-41-E "Mango"

Age: 6

Species: Experiment

Gender: Female

[spoiler=Appearance]aBqx5eu.jpg
As she was biologically engineered for war, Mango naturally can't be small. Standing at 7'6" and weighing 234 pounds*, hers is a wiry frame with a human appearance, but only at a first glance. While it can be hard to tell when she's covered in a toxic sludge with the general consistency of thick mud, Mango's skin isn't actually skin at all. Her body is covered with tough, dark brown scales coated in a thin mucus layer, excluding the sharp sword-like blades that protrude from her fingertips. An easier feature to notice than her scales is her shape being distinctly not human upon closer observation. Her arms and neck are both much longer than they would be if she were human, and her hands are notably large. A few minor features one may notice include her pink eyes (iris and sclera) and the acidic green tongue resting in a mouth full of sharp fangs. While Mango does have hair, it's generally pressed down by the sludge she coats her body in, or otherwise shoots out wildly in any direction it can.

Being covered in toxic sludge all the time has a few downsides to it however, the foremost of them being the smell. There are many words to describe Mango's smell, but none of them are pleasant. This isn't for a lack of effort on her part, make no mistake, but there's just not a way to keep herself covered in the sludge that keeps her alive and maintain good hygiene at the same time. She runs what few clothes she has through the laundry often to keep them smelling good, but this can either help the odor problem or make it even worse, depending on who you ask.

Due to her sludge, hands, and proportions, Mango's wardrobe is very small and needs to be tailored specifically to her needs. Because her bladed "fingersabers" can tear through most materials with ease, Mango's clothes need to be created from rubber about two inches thick so that, as long as she's gentle with them, they won't easily get torn or punctured. Her few clothing items are listed below.
  • Two-piece swimsuits in black (pictured above), white, and pink. Actually swimwear, but Mango treats them as underwear and wears other clothes on top of them unless soaking herself in toxic sludge.
  • One red poncho reaching to her knees, complete with a hood. Essential to Mango's survival on a rainy day so that the rain doesn't dilute her sludge; no way she's carrying an umbrella with those hands.
  • One pair of thigh-high rubber boots. Stylish, keeps all the sludge on her legs in place very well, and helpful in wet environments.
  • One very custom hazmat suit, minus a hood. Features large watertight zippers for the sleeves so that Mango can get her arms in the suit without tearing up the inside. Still difficult to put on and remove, so she tends to save the hazmat suit for formal events. Otherwise, she'll default to the poncho and boots.

* Because her body is covered in a thick toxic sludge most of the time, her weight will often look more like 240 pounds.

[spoiler=Personality]
Although bred for combat, Mango isn't a violent person by any means. Rather than hurting anybody, she'd much rather sit down, have a meal together, and talk. She's quite the social creature, and could ramble on for hours at a time if nobody stops her. She of all people understands that each person is different - probably one of a kind - and she'd hate to take something like that away from the world. Not only does Mango dislike violence, but she encourages each person to be the unique individual that they are, for better or worse. Pursue passions, make dreams come true, and live a unique, happy life. Those are Mango's aspirations with her short time in this world. It's most likely because of her short lifespan that Mango is so insistent that each person live life to the fullest, and enjoy as much of it as possible. She'd be happy to join them for some happy memories too, so that she doesn't completely leave this world when she's gone in a couple years.

Ever the inquisitive sort, another thing Mango likes collecting besides enjoyment is knowledge. The universe is infinite, as is the knowledge behind it, and Mango wants to learn as much as she can about this world in which she lives. Even if it isn't to share the knowledge, she wants to know just for the sake of knowing. It's all like one giant organic machine, and - considering herself something of an organic machine as well - she's quite interested in the workings behind the vast and infinite that, to this day, has still had its surface only scratched. While she can store knowledge just fine, Mango has a bit of trouble putting it all into practice. Despite an impeccable memory, she's a bit of an airhead.

One thing she's very serious about, however, is physical contact. Mango is extremely against touching others or being touched, because she is and will always be a walking safety hazard. She wouldn't admit it easily, but Mango is actually prone to bouts of jealousy over humans and their ability to touch whatever wonderful life they want without killing it. Perhaps her eagerness to bridge any emotional distance between herself and another is her way of compensating for the seemingly infinite physical distance (metaphorically speaking, of course) she has to put between herself and everybody around her. This is actually a super sensitive topic for her, and she tries to dodge the mention of it whenever it's presented. This may also be the cause behind her rather strict vegetarian diet, despite her teeth clearly being designed for a carnivore.

She finds ways to make up for the touching problem, though. Mango is quite the sculptor in her downtime, using her bladed hands to turn blocks of clay, ice, or other solids into well-cut sculptures for decorative use or purely for fun. This little hobby is by far her preferred use of the blades on her hands, and although she's by no means a professional, she's happy to teach others a thing or two about sculpting. Another recent joy of hers is, believe it or not, robotics. While in no position to create a robot of her own due to her hand situation, Mango have a deep profound love for tiny automatons, as they are companions she can touch without potentially killing them. Due to this love for small robots, she's developed a liking for bigger machines as well. Also very interested in nature and how different things all come together in the circle of life; it's by far her favorite thing to study.

[spoiler=Biography]
Experiment XRT-41-E, Entry #1, 01/17/2082: Experiment XRT-41 has been met with mixed successes and failures thus far. While we have been able to create a living weapon capable of producing its own highly acidic ammunition, the success of XRT-41-C was met with an unexpected condition. The body's natural temperature was too high for the experiment to stay alive, and the experiment ultimately melted itself from the inside out. Our attempts to resolve the issue were started with XRT-41-D as we attempted to engineer the body to react to toxic materials by lowering its body temperature. While the test was technically a success, XRT-41-D's scales were too slippery and it couldn't keep itself appropriately cooled unless bathing in toxic waste. Hopefully, by giving XRT-41-E's scales a thin mucus layer, she will be able to keep herself covered in the required materials after exiting a vat, tub, etc.

Experiment XRT-41-E, Entry #2, 01/21/2082: Experiment XRT-41-E has been stable. The mucus layer surrounding her scales has proven capable of successfully retaining toxic waste for up to three hours. Hypotheses are being presented that if we increase the density of the mucus layer for future tests, we may be able to retain toxic waste indefinitely. A minor anecdote, but one still worth noting, is that XRT-41-E seems far more pleasant than her predecessors. We don't believe there will be a repeat of XRT-41-B's rampage, but have prepared countermeasures just in case. Dr. Kepler has a good feeling about this one.

Experiment XRT-41-E, Entry #5, 02/10/2082: XRT-41-E is exceeding every expectation we have set out for her. We're not even a full month into her life and she is already capable of walking independantly, and is able to recognize the context surrounding certain words. I've heard speculation that an unexpected side-benefit of her effective cooling is allowing her to process information more efficiently, leading to greater intelligence than her predecesors. On a note unrelated to our science, Dr. Kepler has put in orders for new hazmat suits after Dr. Bennett's suit was pierced by XRT-41-E's "finger-sabers" and the doctor himself became ill due to contact with XRT-41-E's "cooling sludge". The suits will be made from thick rubber; as long as she's gentle, XRT-41-E shouldn't be able to tear these.

Experiment XRT-41-E, Entry #20, 03/24/2082: Dr. Mendez is sick today; this is Dr. Bennett making the entry in his place. XRT-41-E has been with us for a bit over two months now, and said her first word today. She spoke a bit later than the rest of the XRT-41 line, but once she got her first word (Banana) in, XRT-41-E surprised us with several other words throughout the day. We're pretty sure she has a fondness for fruits, as they make up most of her currently-known vocabulary. One of the other experiments seems to have taught her "Outside" as well. She's been pestering us for the last hour or so about going outdoors, between requests for various fruits. I'll speak to Dr. Kepler later tonight about the possibility of letting her outside for the first time.

Experiment XRT-41-E, Entry #28, 04/03/2082: Dr. Bennet's job is in serious danger right now. Because it's necessary for her mucus layer to retain toxic waste to prevent her body from overheating and killing her, XRT-41-E cannot be exposed to water that might interfere with her cooling process. It's been raining for the last week or so, and I guess Dr. Bennett caved in under the pressure, since at her continued insistence, he brought her outside in the rain. By the time he realized the water was diluting the sludge in XRT-41-E's mucus layer, it was nearly too late. She's in a bath of the sludge right now, but Dr. Kepler is furious at how much time, money, and effort Dr. Bennett nearly cost us. XRT-34-H, or Red, suggested we work out a means of waterproofing XRT-41-E, since the weather shows no signs of drying up soon.

Experiment XRT-41-E, Entry #413, 01/17/2083: Today is XRT-41-E's first birthday. It's become an unspoken tradition in the lab that we help each experiment name themselves once they become a year old. Because of her fondness of fruits, we suggested names such as Cherry or Peach, but XRT-41-E was adamant about Mango. Is Mango even a real name? However, it's what she wanted to be called, and as a result, XRT-41-E may be henceforth referred to as Mango. Good thing too; on a purely personal note, typing XRT-41-E for all of these entries is pretty tedious.

Experiment XRT-41-E, Entry #807, 12/09/2083: Mango's body has fully matured. I recall mentioning in one of our first entries regarding her that Mango seems more pleasant than the rest of the XRT-41 line thus far, and the guess holds true to this day. She's been highly cooperative and patient with our tests, and has even tried offering her own suggestions to help improve future iterations of the XRT-41 line. They aren't the best of ideas (and some are highly impractical), but her willingness to not only stick with us, but also try to assist, speaks volumes about her behavior, especially compared to her predecessors.

Experiment XRT-41-E, Entry #822, 12/26/2083: Mango is growing distressed about her status as a biological weapon. She's confided with other weapon-like experiments, but they simply don't share her major grievances. Because she needs to remain coated in toxic sludge to keep her body cool, Mango cannot make skin contact with any living thing; not even other experiments. To further complicate matters, her hands are quite large and have fingernails like small swords, meaning many things she touches will be ripped, punctured, or otherwise damaged. The crew has dug up an old - very old, mind you - motion picture by the name of Edward Scissorhands. Hopefully it will boost her self-esteem; we could be in serious trouble if she snaps.

Experiment XRT-41-E, Entry #859, 01/17/2084: Today is Mango's second birthday. Dr. Kepler gave her not one, but three massive blocks of soft clay to turn into decorative sculptures. Even as I put this entry in, I can hear her in the other room, sculpting and chatting with other artistic experiments. She's getting pretty good with the sculpting, and her recent enthusiasm for it seems to have warded off her distress as a biological weapon. Unfortunately, due to her toxic nature, she still can't trim the hedges in the courtyard. We've been speaking with other toxin-based experiments on how we might be able to help her feel more confident about the requirement of the toxic sludge, but we haven't had much luck.

Experiment XRT-41-E, Entry #902, 03/14/2084: Dr. Bennett is dead. Mango slipped on a wet floor and landed right on top of him, puncturing several organs and giving him direct contact to way too much of the sludge on her body. Mango is hysterical right now; we've had to quarantine her to make sure she doesn't freak out and do something she'd regret, but we're not cutting off her ability to communicate with others. A few of the other experiments and Dr. Kepler are trying to help her calm down. On a possibly related note, XRT-52-F, or Charlotte, has been very quiet since the incident this morning. Nobody's sure where she's hiding this time, but I'm going to help locate her once this entry is logged.

Experiment XRT-41-E, Entry #910, 03/20/2084: Mango has escaped, and we're almost certain Charlotte had something to do with it. While I'm slightly relieved that - if we're right, of course - Mango is at least with somebody who can secrete toxic substances similar to the sludge Mango is used to, Charlotte's always been a bit of a rebel. I fear for what might happen if she tries to manipulate Mango. Every experiment capable of tracking has been permitted to leave the laboratory so that we can locate and retrieve Mango, but I doubt it will be that easy.

Experiment XRT-41-E, Entry #911, 05/29/2084: We found Mango and returned her to the lab. We're running some tests right now to make sure she's alright. After some questions, it seems escaping wasn't her idea, nor did she want to leave in the first place. Charlotte more or less forced Mango to go along with her plan, and has been using her as a weapon to get whatever she wants. As a result of this, we've deemed XRT-52-F too dangerous to be left alive, and we've terminated her; XRT-52-G is in the incubation pods as we speak. Mango says she wants to be a role model for XRT-52-G so that it doesn't repeat Charlotte's mistakes. We've also appointed Dr. Stewart as the new head of Experiment XRT-52; he'll be settling into Dr. Bennett's old office tomorrow.

Experiment XRT-41-E, Entry #1587, 01/17/2088: Today is Mango's sixth birthday. It's been quite a ride with this one, but Dr. Kepler is almost ready to call Experiment XRT-41 a success. Clearly, Mango isn't personally suited for combat - she's been nothing but kind to everyone around her - but if Dr. Kepler calls Experiment XRT-41 a success, she'll be free to live out the rest of her days however she pleases once we collect her DNA map. A few of the other experiments and I have been trying to puzzle out a way to "de-claw" her hands once she's deemed a success, but we can't do anything about the toxic sludge short of a hazmat suit of her own, which should actually arrive in the mail in a couple of days.

Experiment XRT-41-E, Entry #1590, 01/20/2088: Mango's hazmat suit arrived in the mail today. She was thrilled with the gift, a bit late though it may have been. Also in the mail today was a letter from one of the laboratory's benefactors, Sergei Nikolaev, speaking of a tournament hosted at his Golden Gate Hotel, and his interest in having Mango as a participant. We hate asking her to do anything violent, but with one hundred-billion dollars as the grand prize, we could make immense leaps in our research. We'll let her keep half of it, of course. Dr. Kepler and I will be approaching her later today about it. I've got to go; Mango's having trouble with the hazmat suit.

Experiment XRT-41-E, Entry #1591, 01/21/2088: Mango has reluctantly accepted the offer Mr. Nikolaev presented her with. She seemed relieved when we assured her that she didn't have to kill anybody; we told her to just treat it as one final combat trial. We're preparing enough sludge to last her for several months during her stay at the Golden Gate, just in case things take longer than expected, and Dr. Stewart is helping Mango pack her things right now. I still feel bad for sending her off to do this, but the other experiments and I will continue working out a de-clawing procedure for when she returns. Dr. Kepler has also got the paperwork for deeming Experiment XRT-41 a success; all he has to do is sign the papers, which he says he'll do once Mango comes home.

[spoiler=Weapon(s) of Choice]
Fingersabers: Where most people would have their fingers end in nails or claws, or even talons, Mango's fingers end in shortswords. These little blades are sharp and sturdy, designed to stay in one piece under even the greatest stress.

Toxic Anatomy: See: "Acidic Fluids" and "Toxic Coolants" in the "Power Array" spoiler.

[spoiler=Power Array]
Acidic Fluids: Mango's body fluids are highly acidic, and she was designed to be capable of spitting out these fluids across large distances on command. While she has plenty of ammo, overuse of this ability can and will dehydrate her. She has an extra organ just above her stomach designed to store such fluids, with a capacity of 1 quart of acid.

Toxic Coolants: Mango's scales are covered in a thin mucus layer designed to hold in toxic substances, which her body reacts to by lowering its temperature. This is a critical life function of hers, as without the cooling process, Mango's body temperature will skyrocket and melt her from the inside out. This sludge can be held in her mucus layer for about three hours, and comes with the side effect of making skin contact with her hazardous to most forms of life.

Basic Blood: Mango's blood is a base substance that doesn't look too different from melted chocolate. This blood was engineered to counter her highly acidic fluids so that she doesn't just slowly destroy herself, as well as to dissolve any salts produced in the reaction. However, due to how the blood is designed, its temperature increases significantly as it works to finish these processes, which in turn is the reason behind her need for a cooling process.

[spoiler=More about Experiments]
Even with the best of intentions, not all science is good science. In fact, depending on the laboratory, some science is just downright heinous. For example, finding and "adopting" people who have gone missing and altering their DNA structures until they're no longer at all human-like, then creating a clone with the original's DNA map just before they die. These genetic abominations can come in any shape and size, and be bred for virtually any purpose, but the means behind their creation is seldom pleasant.

Fortunately, although their creation breaks at least a dozen laws on its own, scientists appear to have read plenty of sci-fi novels, and know that treating the genetic abomination with love and respect is the best way to ensure that they don't rebel and completely destroy the lab. Though rare, a small handful of Experiments are even allowed to leave the laboratory's property, though should you happen to meet one, it's more likely that it somehow escaped the lab. Because they were "previously" human, Experiments have all the mental and emotional complexity of their unmodified kindred. Experiments, due to being clones, are infertile, and also have very short lifespans due to their accelerated aging. Most experiments live for eight or nine years before their cells begin decomposing with the Experiment still alive. It's good manners to euthanize a decomposing Experiment.

[spoiler=Misc]
Favorite animal is the puffer fish. She could go on for days about them.

Fondness for electro swing music. Probably a result of influence from the laboratory's radios playing it a lot.

I am noting my interest in this! I may be new, but I like to think I can hold myself up for this kinda stuff. If my lack of time on here is an issue, I can back out without any fuss. ovo

A CHALLENGER APPROACHES!

Don't forget that if you're interested in joining us in the Skype chat, it will be our primary source of communication (but this thread will be updated as necessary).

I'll move this into to a full OOC tomorrow.

[spoiler=The Long of it]
Name: Xia
Gender: Female
Age:  623
Species: Half-Dragon (Sea)

[spoiler=Appearance]
KairQhY.jpg?1
Xia is humanoid in appearance, standing at a rather tall height of 6'2" and weighing at about 250 lbs. Her black hair is an unkempt mess, it's length stretching down most of her back making it no easier to keep in check. The girl is undoubtedly in good shape as one can see as she is quite clearly toned with her muscles being very clearly defined. The traits of hers that are far more noticeable, though, are the ones that take after her dragon aspect. The girl has two horns on either side of her head, one large and one small to the inside side of the horn. The next defining draconic trait of hers is a 4 foot long, blue, scaly tail ending in a brush-like tuft of blue fur. The least noticeable dragon trait of hers is that, while only partially visible, it looks as if there are scales underneath her skin. This is generally hidden by way of her attire, generally consisting of long sleeves and leggings across her limbs. The only skin that this is generally visible on is her face, more specifically her cheekbones, but those tend to have some manner of makeup covering them. Her torso, and thus the scales across it, are generally covered by a Chinese style dress. Most of time time her apparel is some shade of blue in color.

[spoiler=Origin of the Half-Dragon]
In China during the early Tang Dynasty, there existed a people who were quite attuned with the ability of magic. Gifted to them by their dragon deity, they showed reverence to it, and in turn, it provided them with the means to grow and prosper greater than any civilization.  However, during the early expansion of the Tang family's empire, the people had feared that their people may have been subjugated with their dragon's gifts abused. Fearing this, they asked for guidance from their deity. In return, he lead them to his home; the Sea. Using magic to create technology far beyond anyone's understanding of the time, they had managed to construct a completely mobile colony that could send itself into the ocean. Once there, the people continued to expand and firmly cement themselves, making an entire new civilization that had grown under the ocean over the course of the years.
As time went on, the dangers of the sea, though, became more and more apparent. They needed means to get food, they needed to repair damage to their underwater city and they needed a means to protect themselves from the outside dangers. In response to this, the dragon deity asked for an avatar, one they would bless with their strength and be used as their guardian being for all of their city. And so, the people had chosen someone they felt was fit for the role, someone that they saw favor in their deity from. Those chosen had their forms changed in order to still retain their humanoid shape but show their blessings with draconic features. The dragons were able to live for far longer a time period than any normal human, making them effectively ageless. Only when they died was a new person chosen to be blessed by their deity.

[spoiler=Bio]
Born more than 500 years ago, there was a young girl who stood out from all the others who were there. The girl was fairly taken in by the world around her, always in complete admiration of the sea. And while there was not much to note about her, as she was never particularly proficient in quite anything, a certain incident had left an entirely different impression on everyone else. When a section of their city had broken, flooding in the process, during the repair and salvaging process, she seemed to be the only one who had not drowned. Seeing this as a sign from their god, the people of this city had done their best to train her to fill the spot of the cities 4th guardian, as the 3rd one had died a few years prior. After reaching adulthood, the dragon seemed to be pleased with the girl as the candidate and had blessed her into the being she is today.

Devoted to her city, the now half-dragon girl had worked tirelessly towards making sure everything was taken care of and the people were never in danger. However, as the years passed by and their god's strength starting to wane, the girl's city started to crumble. No longer protected from the pressure of the water, collapses became more frequent. Unable to reliably leave, their food supply shrunk. Their magical abilities failing, sickness started to spread rampant throughout the city without any means of curing or containing it. Soon, what was once a prosperous yet impossible colony, had turned to nothing but rubble and ruins. All that was left was the half-dragon girl, who had watched her entire world crumble before her, powerless to stop it.

A feeling of despair and failure had overcome the girl, as she had been unable to protect her people despite her role. While the idea to end her existence crossed her mind, she had instead decided to stay at the bottom of the depths, safeguarding what little remained of the ancient city as a sort of atonement. And so there she sat for centuries to come, left all alone, with nothing but her thoughts to keep her company and the fish to keep her fed, (as making friends with food did not seem that enjoyable.)

This had all changed the day that humans from the surface had found their way into the depths. A small band of divers, ones that were into looking for buried wrecks or treasure in the sea, had come across by this ruined city. They were astonished by the find. A ruin that had no records of ever existing, with remnants of things that didn't even begin to make sense to the divers that found it. While they had started looking around, figuring out what everything was, the dragon girl had noticed the presence of the humans. While her first instinct was one to drive them away, as a guardian would, her years of isolation had made her reconsider otherwise. After much internal wrestling, she had eventually simply swam over to one of the divers, and continued to stare at him. The diver, completely taken aback by the sight, both started to panic at the sight of the girl yet also seem to hold some sort of reverence towards her, thinking she was some kind of emissary of a god. While the girl was merely curious at this reaction, she took no action except observe, only taking action to intervene with the actions of the diver when they had actually attempted to disturb the ruined city. After realizing their job was basically impossible, one of the divers had eventually attempted to converse with her, eventually managing to coax her up to the surface world.

While talking had gone incredibly poorly at first, as the girl had not spoken in ages and the language she had was long dead, not much headway was made on the first day and the girl had ended up going back to the sea, the divers leaving the area. However, as the days passed, they kept coming back and in an attempt to communicate with this girl and with a lot of effort and teaching and her own devotion towards trying to properly speak with others, she was eventually to hold a conversation with them. Once she was able to speak, the girl informed them of her occupation and that they were not to disturb the place and that there was absolutely nothing they could do to convince her otherwise. Upon hearing this from the mouth of a being that was practically like a divine entity to them, they could only resign themselves to this. With their business finally settled, after months of effort, the dragon girl was extremely reluctant to go back to being alone, when she offered her services to the diving crew, keeping a watchful eye on them and making sure that they were never to disturb her home again. Both floored and excited by the proposal, they had accepted.

For not more than a year or two, she had aided in their explorations, reveling in her new found companionship and work. Though she helped them with their efforts in both discovering and salvaging and was able to finally do something of use, she still felt a longing. Due both to not going into modern civilization, because of her race, and still having her head in the past, she had still missed her home. And as these thoughts started to plague her, she received a letter. While it was incredibly strange that she could even get a letter to begin with, the offer inside sounded even stranger to her. After being described what it was that was actually expected of her, and what she would get out of it, the girl took barely any time to form an answer to it. Being confident in her ability to fight, as it was practically what she was meant for, and thinking the money could be used to both help the divers who she lived with and start the restoration of her lost civilization, the girl accepted.

[spoiler=Personality]
After a long time spent in isolation, Xia both has the vibe of being someone who is both incredibly cheery and outgoing with others. Being constantly full of energy, she tries to be incredibly friendly towards others though in an almost forceful way, as if merely desperate to communicate with others. This is shown by her Despite this, she is absolutely horrid at talking, not quite understanding how to carry out a conversation in general. This is only worsened by her lack of understanding of language in general, and thus can't pick up on different social cues, idioms, etc. Nevertheless, she is a naturally curious and easily trusting person always wanting to learn more, as the modern world around her is incredibly different than the one she had known for all of her life.

Always doing her best to succeed, the girl's self confidence is only hindered by the issue of there not being much in the world that she is actually skilled at. Failing is not something she takes well, causing cracks in her cheery attitude and causing her to become far more nervous and/or sorrowful. Conversely, though, in moments of success she is filled with nothing more than pure joy. Though, if there is one thing she is good at, it is fighting. Xia adores physical confrontations with others as she feels it is the best way to both interact and understand others. While Xia doesn't ever wish to kill someone else, she is very terrible at holding herself back and always goes at full blast from the get go.

[spoiler=Combat]
Weapon(s) of choice:
-Xia is basically incapable of using any weapon other than her own body. As such, she is very proficient in punching things, kicking things, elbowing things, kneeing things, and tail slapping things. She also has the occasional moments of using her head in battle.

Power Array:

  • Strength of Dragons: Being a half dragon, Xia's physical parameters, such as speed, reflexes and endurance, are far beyond that of the regular human being. The most standout parameter of hers is her strength, being inhumanly strong and carrying a large amount of force behind all of her attacks.
  • Resilience of Dragons: Despite her scales not being incredibly apparent to the naked eye, they are still there and they are still tough. Given their innate toughness, they are able to reduce a good deal of damage that she would otherwise take. This amount of damage reduced is based on how thick her scales are, the thinnest being across her face (not providing much cover) and the thickest being across her forearms and shins (tougher than steel.)
  • Providence of the Sea Dragon: Xia is blessed by the powers of an ancient water dragon spirit. As such she is gifted with a few things to aid in her undersea guardian duties. For one, she is able to breathe underwater and is quite the swimmer. She, quite like water, is resilient to the change in temperature, taking longer to be affected by such than a normal person would be.
  • Force of the Sea Dragon: As a dragon, Xia is quite naturally attuned with magic. However, due to centuries of both no use or practice, both her mana pool and magical understanding is very poor. The one skill she can use, however, involves what she is good at; punching. By creating a large collection of water over her arm, she is able to launch it in a singular direction by punching. The water itself is launched in a small compressed orb of water, exploding on impact with the force similar to that of a cannon. This can be used at full power, as it regularly is, up to five times per day. If not properly ground, the force of the punch can send her in a direction opposite of the punch.

[spoiler=Misc]

  • Xia's real name is not actually Xia, it was simply given to her by one of the members of the diving team that found her. Her real name is both unknown to the rest of the world and forgotten by Xia herself.
  • Because Xia likes having a name after not having one for so long, she refers to herself in the third person.
  • Xia knows how to speak in both Chinese and English. She is, however, very bad at reading English.
  • Her favorite color is blue.

A CHALLENGER APPROACHES!

Don't forget that if you're interested in joining us in the Skype chat, it will be our primary source of communication (but this thread will be updated as necessary).

I'll move this into to a full OOC tomorrow.

Oh, I do have a Skype account, yeah! The address is kayden-north, it should be easy enough to find I think. If it'll make communication easier, I'll join the Skype chat!

Edit: Never mind I'm not sure anymore.

If you change your mind, you're welcome back anytime.

I'll announce an official OOC tomorrow, and I'll begin full review of submitted applications in the coming weeks.  It should take no longer than two weeks time (with consideration for players who are still creating characters and interested players).  Character creation deadline is Thursday, November 17, 2016.  After that, pending number of applicants and characters, we will close acceptance.

We already have a few completed applications, and characters look fantastic.  Remember, your character creativity will be of importance, so bring your A-game.

Looking forward to working with you all.

I do have some changes in store, despite most of the arenas and environments being the same.  Very few bosses will be returning from their original period in the first GGE.  I can say for sure that Vladimir Lacusta and the Swan duo will return.  All other bosses will be changed entirely.  In addition, I've got some new mob types and NPCs, as well as four more arenas I'm working on for variety.

Once characters have been accepted, I'll pump out the bracket so you can see who your opponents will be.  If  we meet our deadline, I expect to start no later than Sunday, November 20, 2016.

[spoiler=Akireusu]

JXSzI1U.png

"Sorry, but I won't be holding back."

Personal Information

Name: Akira Mizutani (水谷 明, lit. Mizutani Akira)

Epithet: Achilles (アキレウス, lit. Akireusu)

Gender: Male

Age: 17

Species: Human/ESPer

[spoiler=Appearance]Picture: http://www.pixiv.net/member_illust.php?mode=medium&illust_id=55009049

Akira stands out in most crowds; he's a gorgeous bishounen—with smooth skin, prettier than most girls, etc., you know the deal—but he also has long blue hair and violet eyes, marking him as an ESPer. Despite being a national-level athlete in numerous sports, he has a lanky build and barely any muscle; he stands at 170 cm and on a scale he only weighs 59 kg.

[spoiler=Personality]Akira is whimsical and capricious, but he is a man of action. When something catches his interest, he gains a wild enthusiasm for it far beyond what one would expect of a mere whim. Whether it's cooking, calligraphy, or playing guitar, the activity ends up consuming him for several days before he becomes burned out by his complete lack of moderation and drops it. The one thing that keeps him coming back to certain activities is his competitive spirit, his thirst for challenge, and his incurable addiction to the euphoria of victory. He is a bit of a sore loser and can be overly persistent in challenging those who more skilled than him until he surpasses them. His strength is not only in his unstoppable will and motivation, but also his ability to set objectives towards his goals and achieving them in record time through acute introspection and unrelenting practice. This ability, to some effect, allows him to moderate himself by splitting his efforts.

While his talent and unwavering zeal has earned him fame, it alienates him from others. His practice of always trying to prove himself better than others, although he means no offence, doesn't help. Slowly, he has come to accept that others don't necessarily share his fervor and has grown a thick skin towards those who criticise him. His social alienation means that he forms strong attachments to those who do share his good-hearted enthusiasm, but his single-mindedness still makes him insensitive to their feelings.

[spoiler=Biography]Akira's story is not overly dramatic. He was born to middle-class parents whose work caused them to move a lot, so Akira and his sister were constantly changing schools. The siblings' striking blue hair only created a further barrier from making friends where they went. As a result their greatest company during their early childhood was each other.

Towards the end of those ephemeral early years, Akira to joined the school soccer team. He was an awkward and reserved child, a result of his inability to make lasting friends, but due to a kind coach, an enthusiastic friend, and the team's cooperative spirit, he managed to fit right in. It ended up he became more passionate about the sport than anyone else. As it happens, the family had to move again before a major competition and Akira ended up missing out on the fruits of his efforts. He later learned his team got destroyed in the first round.

The next school did not have such a focus on soccer, they didn't have a good field and the soccer team seemed to be more of a hobby sports team, so Akira joined the basketball team instead. During this time, due to a friend and teammate's influence, he also became hooked on sports anime especially one called Kuroko no Basuke. Unbeknown to him, his passion for the sport was forcing awake his latent psychic powers and he slowly began to set himself apart from the other players. This resulted in him being scouted for a middle school team.

Of course, his parents still had to move for work, but Akira put his foot down and persuaded his parents to let him move out. His little sister also wanted to settle down somewhere as well. Thus, Akira and his sister started living alone when he was in middle school, and he joined the team he was scouted for.

Akira's talent exploded in middle school, and the rest of his team wasn't able to keep up. His relationship with the highly competitive team started falling apart after they lost a game and Akira, overcome with frustration, blamed the rest of them for not working hard enough. Things snowballed, and Akira ended up leaving the team because he couldn't stand the atmosphere, but not before the team reached sixth in nationals. To fill the hole left by basketball, he joined the soccer team. Things did not go as badly this time, the team managed to reach third place in nationals, but Akira felt his teammates' resentment as the coach ended up making all the strategies revolve around him, which caused him to switch sports again. He naturally distanced himself from fellow teammates despite joining team sports. In his last year of middle school, his ESPer abilities really shined as he was able to plow past entire groups of opponents to take nationals in rugby. At this point, he was really starting to get noticed.

In highschool, he became known throughout the nation as "Achilles", both a pun on his name and epithet describing his apparent invincibility in every sport he tried. It was strongly suspected his ESPer abilities were giving him a boost, and Akira was aware of it too; it was getting too strong and he started holding back. After during a particularly tough boxing match, he accidentally let loose and put his opponent in a coma. After that, he was forbidden from sports. However, he approached by the Japanese ESPer Bureau to become an agent. While he wasn't altogether interested, he agreed.

Then, he got an invitation to the Golden Gate tournament.

[spoiler=Combat Info]

Although Akira completely lacks experience in deadly combat, he has attended countless sports tournaments and trained his ability to keep calm and think under pressure. His ability to face adversity head on and keep his Eyes on the Prize lead to the fast development of his psychic powers, and facing stronger opponents than him will only make his powers grow. Despite his overwhelming superiority in most physical competitions, he still makes good use of his head to outwit his opponents. His strength exceeds human levels, but he generally holds back and uses his weak outward appearance to lower enemies' guards; while it's a tactic that had long dimmed in effectiveness in the Japanese high school nationals scene after he became famous as the invincible athlete, "Achilles", it should regain its full potential here in this new battleground.

[spoiler=Weapon]

  • Special Alloy Baseball Bat: A metal bat with extreme durability and considerable weight. It was created for him by the engineers working for the Japanese Bureau of ESP Activity.

[spoiler=Abilities]As a jack of all trades athlete, Akira has picked up numerous skills and has great physical coordination.

  • Athleticism: Akira has excellent balance, coordination, and reflexes born from natural talent and trained through numerous sports.
Akira calls his ESP ability "Perfect Aegis" and says it renders all attack useless, but this is a deception. It is far from merely the ability to nullify any attack, but ergokinesis or energy manipulation. Despite manipulating energy, there is some energy source separate from his stamina which this ability draws from that the ability cannot replenish.
  • Heroic Prowess: A passive ability granting him above human strength, speed, and stamina as well as control over his metabolism and homeostasis. Being instinctively capable of manipulating the energy in his own body, Akira drastically increases its energy efficiency. However, using this ability also means that his muscles don't get a lot of exercise because he is basically using his power to move.
  • Perfect Aegis: The power to absorb any energy (kinetic, heat, electric, etc.) being transferred to him into a mysterious psychic energy storage. This power can be activated at will. Although Akira claims it is limitless, it can only be active for up to thirty seconds at a time and there is a limit approximately equal to one megajoule (absorbing one megajoule is enough to perfectly stop a sizeable 4-tonne car moving at 80 km/h, although realistically he'd absorb only need to absorb a fraction of the energy as the car deforms or breaks apart so much of the energy dissipates; on the other end of the spectrum, a punch is generally 100-450 J). Deactivating it puts it on cooldown for a third of the time he used it for with a minimum cool down time of one second. This cooldown increases to 1/2 after he reaches 60 seconds of use. He also cannot use Perfect Aegis while expelling energy.
  • Greek Fire: The energy gathered from Perfect Aegis can be expelled as a jet of blue flame. As it is not real fire and merely psychic heat energy, it does not require oxygen (although water will deflect it all the same since water has a high heat capacity). The range and heat depends on how much energy he absorbed.
  • Unstoppable Force: The direct transfer of kinetic energy to an object through force. This can be used for extremely powerful physical attacks, although if he tried to punch someone with this ability he'd shatter the bones in his hand. Thus, he uses the baseball bat.

[spoiler=Miscellaneous]Theme: FLY HIGH!!

  • Akira is an avid fan of sports manga. His favorite is Kuroko no Basuke.
  • He also enjoys reading his daily horoscope, although he doesn't completely believe in them. He is an Aquarius, his birthday is January 29.
  • His blood type is AB.
  • He really dotes on his little sister, Chie Mizutani (水谷 恵, lit. Mizutani Chie). Her birthday is February 13. Her blood type is A.
  • They keep in touch through LINE. Akira bought the latest iPhone 42S before coming to the tournament.
  • His diet consists of large amounts of junk food since he uses up a massive amount of calories. This is likely linked to his power.
  • His English is rather accented, although it's getting better.

ESPers started appearing in Japan in 2023 after a strange meteorite fell near Mount Fuji. The meteorite was quickly retrieved, thus very little public data on the meteorite exists. However, it is generally accepted that this meteorite triggered a series of supernatural incidents throughout the country. One of these was the emergence of ESPers, people with supernatural powers of the mind. These psychics are easily identifiable through their strangely colored hair and eyes, but for 99.99% of them, their powers lie dormant or are extremely weak. Much research has gone into them over the decades, but very little progress has been made. Eventually, it was realized that ESPers had little impact and people stopped paying them much mind. People with colorful features became a common element of Japanese society.

The truth is that any incidents caused by ESPers hushed up by the Bureau of ESP Activity and any information on ESPers is classified. There is a mysterious organization in possession of the meteorite's fragments and it is known that radiation from these fragments can awaken an ESPer's powers.
