Amaranth closed his eyes and tilted his head, still smiling. "Oh alright. I'm afraid my spirits are contained within a different sort of medium than a simple tablet. But I'll take you on." He opened his eyes and tilted his head down, but his eyes (though you'd be hard-pressed to say how,) stayed trained on Marsdon's. He took three large backwards strides, and held up one hand. Five little motes of flame rose from the circle at his feet and arrange themselves in a row before him.

Amaranth's smile took on a sudden darkness without ant change to the smile at all. "Fair warning, pal! If I win..."

"There won't be a guild hall to have that drink at."

..Well that did absolutley nothing, Simon was as lost as lost could be, not to mention the person he talked to was clearly drunk and to tie it all up, there was an explosion at the gate... Perfect! just what he needed, people on his tail. Simon went to check out the commotion and found... A bunch of gaurds and their leader behind a crater where the gate used to be, standing in front of a magician who looked completely lost with a living corpse in front of him, and it wasn't a Summon spirit, at least, not a summon spirit he had ever seen, no it was an actual corpse... This was not good, Simon had decided to aviod confrontation so he got in through a hidden shortcut if he was found to not have taken the intrance challenge, then he would've been better of in Ersat. Simon decided to slowly start backing away when lady luck decided she wanted some intertainment. He steped on a dead branch breaking it in two with his foot and possibily drawing all eyes to the man with a spear covered in dry blood...

Kassyl was really to overwhelmed to say or do much after the sideshow freak offered to shake his hand and to say the revelations he was having and the scene playing out before him was startling may have been the understatement of the century. After all, it's not every day you see dead men walking, exploding gates and guards who like snakes a bit too much.

At least he could take some solace in the fact he was so far unidentified. The slightly less crazy wanderer stepped back to talk to the living dead to give an address as fast as he possibly could so he didn't become part of any collateral damage, "Hey, uh, it's Amaranth isn't it? The name's Kassyl and it's been really great to see you but I get the feeling that I'd be safest somewhere not here considering your threat and well... that" Kassyl turned to look at the crater to see a large spearman step on a comically noisy stick, but that was the least of his worries.

"and them." This time turning to look at the man named Marsdon and his cohort of guards, some of whom were chattering among themselves, others laughing, some looking at Kassyl like they'd seen him before, which was perhaps scarier than whatever this other guy could do.

"So if you don't mind I'm going to take this chance to pull a little disappearing act and get to the best seat in the house. So if you can see that building over there and refrain from destroying it that'd just be dandy. This is your show now, make sure they never forget who you are."

Marsdon drew his hand from the various tablets hanging off his armor, not yet looking at it while the two foreign summoners discussed whatever it was, calmly waiting for them to finish, Marsdon finally got a good look at the magician realizing who he was "I'll have to remember that for later, can't let him get out of here without a trial." Marsdon addressed the crowd of onlookers, as well as the other visitor they had who honestly Marsdon had let win figuring he'd lose to someone else later and seeing nothing of interest in his deck "My fellow brothers, for the time being these men are our guests, I expect you to treat them as such, especially our well dressed friend spectating." Marsdon gestured towards Kassyl at which point the other guilds-men recognized him and began grinning wickedly, thinking of the punishments in store for him "Should any of you have a personal grudge against either of these men I suggest you obey the guild laws and put them aside until our little game is over." It was clear what Marsdon had meant, the second he finished dueling Amaranth they would swarm Kassyl and bring him to the Guild house. "Now then, I believe you and I have some business to attend, it's a shame you won't be getting that drink, you've got spunk and the boss would love to initiate you. If your ready let's get on with the thrashing!" the crowd cheered as Marsdon stared down the stranger surrounded by flames, one grabbed Simon by the arm pulling him into the group, maybe this would be more fun than they thought.

Amaranth spreads his arms. "ENOUGH TALK" An echoing voice growls. The flames around his feet crawl up Amaranth's legs, consuming him in a column before subsiding to reveal...

Amaranth's clothing was now a hooded robe with heavy boots and gloves. His disfigured form made it look like  one shoulder was lower than the other, despite standing perfectly straight. The black clothing was patterned with dark purple lines, matching the flames that continued to dance around his feet. The hood obscured his face with an otherworldly shadow, leaving only his mouth and nose visible. "Let's begin." He says politely, raising one hand and summoning up a sixth hovering cube. Though his opponent did not see it, he knew each cube's purpose, and the spirits sealed within them. He snatched two from the row in front of him and cast them to the dirt before him, where each expanded to a grave-sized rectangle of dark flame. "I start, and will set two face-downs..." He decides, grabbing a third cube. "And Normal Summon Dark Effigy!" In front of the two face-downs, a flaming chasm opened in the ground and out rose a black cube, which began twisting and separating into many smaller cubes, shifting around and reassembling itself like some sort of living puzzle trying to solve itself.

Dark Effigy

Level 4 ~ DARK ~ Fiend/Effect

1500/0

"Golly, I hope it's a good enough start to our Duel!" Amaranth gestured to his opponent and smiled, but the warmth and friendliness in it was gone, replaced by the cold grin of a hyena before a kill. "Well, it's your move now: make the most of it! I don't want to feel like you're holding back!"

"Really, all this fuss when i'm just doin' my job, what do ya say boys, should we go easy on him?" the crowd hissed and booed at Amaranth, only boosting Marsdon's confidence "Didn't think so, draw!" He tore one of the tablets off his armor adding it to his hand. "First I'll activate Terraforming to add my Venom Swamp to my hand." Marsdon grabbed the tablet as it began to glow in synch with his spell.

(Terraforming)

(Spell)

(Add 1 Field Spell Card from your Deck to your hand.)

"Next I'll activate my new Venom Swamp from my hand, hope you aren't afraid of snakes, otherwise you're about to have a nightmare!" He threw the tablet on the ground, it was quickly absorbed by the earth causing the ground to shake, transforming the landscape in to a marsh, complete with plant life not native to anywhere in Predrealia.

(Venom Swamp)

(Field Spell)

(During each player's End Phase: Place 1 Venom Counter on each face-up monster, except "Venom" monsters. Monsters lose 500 ATK for each Venom Counter on them. Destroy a monster if its ATK becomes 0 by this effect.)

"Now that my pet's have somewhere to play what do ya' say we bring them out? Slither and sneak my Venom Serpent!" Marsdon threw a glowing tablet into the water of the newly formed swamp, out of the muddy depths burst a pale green snake, easily big enough to devour a man whole.

(Venom Serpent)

(Reptile/Lvl 4/ATK 1000/DEF 800)

(During either player's turn: You can place up to 2 Venom Counter on 1 face-up monster, except "Venom" monsters. (Monsters lose 500 ATK for each Venom Counter on them. Destroy a monster if its ATK is 0.) When this card is sent to the Graveyard: You can add 1 "Venom" card from your Deck to your hand, except "Venomous Serpent".)

"She may not look like much but my darling pet's got some bite in her, Once per turn she can place two Venom Counters on your monster, reducing it's attack by one thousand, now strike with venom Fang!" The creature sunk under the waters only to reappear and coil around Dark Effigy, sinking it's teeth into the mass of cubes. "Once I end my turn the swamps poison will destroy your creature, so much for mister big shot." Marsdon took a moment to relish his opening move, waiting for Amaranth to plead for forgiveness.

Amaranth just smiles as Dark Effigy is melted by the venom and swallowed by the swamp. "Oh well," He sighs, almost too happy about what just happened. "I can't do anything to stop that, so I'll just begin my turn!" Another flaming cube rose from his feet and joined the others.

"Hmm. Well, I think I'll just let you have your turn! I can't rightfully do anything else with these," He gestures to his hand, "So I guess I'm done. Go ahead! I just hope you don't drop a big-bad boss monster on me right away. I doubt I could counter that."

"Very well, but don't think I'll go easy on you just because you passed." Marsdon took another tablet from his armor and smirked as he threw it into the swamp. "Child with toxic blood, I summon Son of the Serpent!"

out of the waters burst a young man with blond hair, his skin, slightly green, had the appearance of scales, his tongue that of a snake and his mouth filled with hundreds of tiny fangs.

(Son of the Serpent)

(Warrior/Dark/Lvl 4/ 2000/1500)

(This card is also treated as Reptile-Type, this card is treated as a "Venom" card. You can tribute this card, special summon one Reptile-Type monster from your hand or deck, if the monster summoned by this cards effect is "Naga the Serpent King" or "Fidi, Mother of Serpents" that card cannot be destroyed by card effects. During each players endphase inflict 100 damage to your opponent for each "Venom Counter" on the field.)

"Born of a horrid ceremony, he is the child of a wicked god. By spilling his own blood the lord of Snakes is awoken. I tribute Son of the Serpent to summon Naga the Seprent King in attack!" the crowd, no longer visable to the two summoners surrounded by the swamp, began cheering at the sound of one of Mardsons strongest spirits being summoned. The young man hissed as he bit into his own arm causing a steaming purple liquid to spill from his veins, as the creature fell back into the depths the ground began to shake giving way to a great throne, seated on which was a man that looked like a much older version of the previous spirit, his skin now a sickly green made from hardened scales, his fingers now claws and his fangs now full sized.

(Naga the Serpent King)

(Reptile/Dark/Lvl 7/ATK 2800/DEF 2100)

(This card is treated as a "Venom" card. When this card is summoned add one "Ouroboros, City of the Serpents" from your deck or graveyard to your hand. This card cannot be destroyed by battle. This card gains 500 ATK for each Reptile-Type monster you control and 100 ATK for each "Venom Counter" on the field. During each players endphase inflict 100 damage to your opponent for each "Venom Counter" on the field.)

"Don't think I'm done, what's a king without his palace? when summoned Naga adds Ouroboros to my hand, now tremble at the might of my king, bow before him or his servants will strike you down!" Marsdon dropped yet another tablet into the water causing the swamp to dry and the plant life to fade only to be replaced with a grand pyramid outlooking a city. "While this field spell is in play all spirits are Naga's kin, disobey your ruler and you will perish!"

(Oroboros, City of the Serpents)

(Field Spell)

(When a Reptile-Type monster is summoned inflict 200 damage to the controller and place one "Venom Counter" on a monster your opponent controls. While this card is face-up on the field all monsters in the hand and on the field become Reptile-Type.)

"I'll end with two face-downs. Now do you see where your cockiness has gotten you? in only a few turns my strongest creature will obliterate you and i will take your deck for my own!"

As Kassyl leaped from the quickly-transforming ground onto the 'please-don't-kill-me' building a thousand thoughts rushed through his head. Thoughts like:

  • Snakes. Why did it have to be snakes?
  • What's that guy with the spear doing?
  • What is that Amaranth guy? A spirit?
  • I need to find a way past the guards once the duel ends.
  • It doesn't look like Amaranth is using tablets for summoning.
  • I'm hungry.

These last two stuck with him, but his stomach dare not rumble as it knew that this town's alternative to starvation was a thousand times worse.

But more importantly Kassyl took a closer look at what the dead summoner walking was duelling with.

"Are they dice?" He mused aloud as he took out his loaded die from a coat pocket and rolled it around in his hand. Sure they were both cubes but where Kassyl had logically progressing numbers Amaranth had indecipherable and intimidating symbols all across."Can Spirits be bound to something more than tablets?"

He drew out an old deck of cards he used for tricks and the occasional gambling, their faces as faded and dirty as his was when he received it. He looked over the hardened parchment and considered the possible rituals he'd need and how it could influence his duelling style.

"No, that would be silly." He mumbled under his breath, dismissing the idea as he put away his tools of the trade and sat back to enjoy the show.

Well, this was great, first he was in a poisanous swamp, now he was in front of a giant Piramid in front of a city of snakes, great! 'Well, while i'm here i might as well enjoy the show, it's not like theres anything better to do...' And so, Simon decided to sit down and watch the hooded Spirit fight the Venomaniac Guild Leader. But first, Simon decided to study his tablet a little closer. "The Fortunate Tarot: Add one "Cups of Tarot", "Wands of Tarot", "Swords of Tarot", or "Pentacles of Tarot" to your hand"... Simon didn't know what any of those were. But whatever they were, they seemed pretty important. Also, The Fortunate Tarot... were there more of these Tarots besides This and the ones put on the description? And if so, why wasn't this tablet with the others?

"Well here we are." one of Astras escorts said as they approached the gates of Zaddicus' palace. The gates were guarded by four soldiers, two summoners and two men with spears. one of the summoners spoke, eyeing Astra suspiciously "Is this child under arrest or here as a squire?" "Show him kid." Astra put Lupus down so he could look through his pouch, who began playing with Lop, the stuffed rabbit that had not yet disappeared, immediately. "I um, i'm here about this." he said shyly, showing the guard The Starry Tarot from his deck pouch. The expression of all four men changed from boredom to a mixture of amusement and bewilderment at the sight of the tablet "Well then young man, allow me to show you to your quarters like the others. you two are free to go." Astra watched as the men that had brought him here saluted before leaving without a word, meanwhile the other summoner pulled a tablet from his own pouch "Gates Beyond!" the stone wall covering the archeway disappeared as the summoner gestured for Astra to follow him "Zaddicus is incredibly busy at the time but you will meet him in a few day at the feast he's planned for the others that have arrived so far." As Astra went through the ow open arch into the palace Lupus and Lop backed away "What's wrong? is something bad inside?" the spirits waited a the edge of the entrance, the black dog doll growling. His new escort, clearly annoyed, walked over to Astra and grabbed his arm "Come on kid, I can't leave these open for to long, we don't want some random person wandering in here." as he dragged him into the build Lupus and Lop got closer to the entry, still refusing to enter.

Another mote of flame rose and joined Amaranth's hand. Appraising it visually (despite the whole blind-eyes thing), he threw it to the ground before him. "I'll set one monster face-down and an additional face-down card. They'll slow you down for a bit." He admits as a new plume of flame and a curled up silhouette formed on his field.

Amaranth tilted his head, listening to something Marsdon couldn't hear. A frown flickered across his mouth, annoyed by something he heard. He then righted his head and smiled. "Well, Marsdon, it sounds like this Duel will be over in a mere three turns! Exciting, right?"

"AAAAHHHH!" Dazon screamed. He was on a road he didn't mean to go down. His surroundings were strange, he couldn't remember how he got here or what he was doing, only that he needed to scream. He saw a road sign down the road, it had the Words "Redwater." Dazon looked at sign with a confused look on his face. "What? Hold on, what is that!" He roared, as he saw a huge pyramid in the distance. He grabbed a tablet from his pouch, a secondary pouch filled with stuff to travel. "Expressroid!" He announced as the dropped the tablet on the ground. A Cartoonish looking train appeared in a cloud of smoke, and Dazon hopped on. "Okay, lets see what this Pyramid's About!"

"We'll see." Marsdon took another tablet and grinned "I'll set one face-down for now, and just for  good measure, Naga, destroy that face-down creature!" Marsdon dropped a tablet on to the ground, which quickly disappeared while the snake king leapt from his throne onto the silloutte and sunk his fangs in while slashing with his claws. "Trying to play defensive, how pathetic!"

Amaranth laughed. "See, that's the one thing he WON'T be doing!" The silhouette exploded into being and parried Naga's attack with one of it's large, armored wings, shattering it's steel feathers. The green bird shrieked and tucked the damaged wing behind it's intact one.

Shield Wing

DEF: 900

"Thanks to his effect, Shield Wing isn't destroyed the first two times you attack it! So it survives your Naga's attack and is ready to take two more! Oh, and don't think that your Venom Counters will help either!" Amaranth folds his arms. "His Attack is already 0. So you can't reduce it to 0 and kill him that way!"

Marsdon smirked at that comment "So if I were to do something like this that spirit would survive?" He revealed a spell from his hand "I acitvate Venom Shot!"

(Venomous Shot)

(Quick-Play Spell)

(Send 1 Reptile-Type monster from your Deck to the Graveyard, then you can target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; place Venom Counters on that target equal to the Level of the Reptile-Type monster sent to the Graveyard by this card's effect. (Monsters lose 500 ATK for each Venom Counter on them. Destroy a monster if its ATK is 0.)

The tablet transfomed into a purple serpent and sprang onto the metallic bird, biting into it before disappearing. "By sending my level three Venom Snake to the graveyard I can place three venom counters on that bird of yours, and since it's already at zero attack it won't be destroyed? Your prediction must have been right, on my next turn I'm ending this! By removing the three venom counters just placed on that worthless pile of scrap metal Naga can shed his mortal form and show you his true power!" The serpentine man began shuddering as his skin turned a deep purple and his eyes began to glow a bright crimson "Creator of poisons and destroyer of the mighty, let your divine venom flow through the land, burning all who stand in your path, I summon Naga the Serpentine God!" The snake king started tearing his own flesh off brutally as he grew to large for his skin, purple blood spilling onto the stone paths of the city, burning the ground on contact leaving smoldering potholes in the street, eventually ripping through his old body and casting it aside in his true form, a Purple and Orange Snake the size of the pyramid overlooking the city, the massive creature began curling around it's palace to stare down, casting judgement at those below.

(Naga the Serpentine God)

(Reptile/Dark/Lvl 10/ATK 3000/DEF 2800)

(This card is treated as a "Venom" card. This card can only be special summoned summoned (from the hand) by tributing "Naga the Serpent King" and removing three "Venom Counters" from the field while "Ouroboros, City of the Serpents" is face-up on the field. This card gains 500 ATK and DEF for each Reptile-Type monster in your graveyard. If "Ouroboros, City of the Serpents" is removed from the field shuffle this card into the deck and special summon one "Naga the Serpent King" from your graveyard. During each players endphase inflict 100 damage to your opponent for each "Venom Counter" on the field.)

"Of course do to my city i take two hundred damage but I also get to place a venom counter on that bird again!" Marsdon cringed as snakes erupted from the ground to bite at him then slither off as the same happened to Amaranth's Shield Wing. "Then of course you take 100 damage for each venom counter on the field, it's not much now but I'm sure we'll work our way up!" He grinned sadistically as the enormous reptile opened it's mouth to let out a cloud of poison that enveloped Amaranth. "Let's see you grasp for breath through the toxic fog on your last worthless turn! Kill me now or My Deity will crush you under it's might!"

"Righty-ho, here we go!" Dazon groaned. He took a few steps forward, but was skeptical about proceeding onward. He saw a huge serpent creature curl around the pyramid, sending Dazon into shock. He cautiously walked towards the entrance, where he saw a duel taking place. He looked at the scene unfolding before him. A monstrosity-like creature dueling a man. "Wha-wha-wha?"

"Snake God? Compensating much." Kassyl chuckled as he took a hand of imaginary popcorn from his hat and pretended to eat it. It was juvenile but his private heckles were what got him through the tedium of other people's duels. And speaking of compensating...

Kassyl laid his eyes yet again on the spearman who was still hiding in plain sight, never having moved too far since he first saw him, as if he was petrified by the serpent's gaze. He tapped his sleeve yet again to reveal the white bird, its form slightly shimmering and swirling unnaturally, and drew out a piece of parchment to write a message on:

"Hi! I'm Kassyl, magician extraordinaire ♥︎

You can find me on top of that building near the dead-looking guy. Don't worry, he's a sweetheart so long as you watch out for the violet murder-fire.

But enough about me, you look super-interesting. What's your story?"

Folding it with a quill dipped in just enough ink he was about to send it off when something else was eye-catching, a man in noble garb. A royal sigil emblazoned on his cape and a piece of finely-crafted armour on his arm. "Well that's nice. I'm making all sorts of friends today." He almost giggled to himself as he repeated the process, rewriting the letter verbatim (he didn't want them to feel like he loved one more than the other) so his avian ally could deliver the message to who, on a normal day, would be the strangest people he's met in about a week.

Alas, this was not a normal day. So sending off the dove to drop the message into the hands of his new acquaintances he turned back to face the duel; ready to either watch Amaranth stomp the serpentine stranger or work out how he could incorporate a dragon into his routines, whichever was more interesting.

Dazon looked up, a dove was gliding through the sky gracefully. "Nice, really makes you not think about the death around the corner...." He said sarcastically. But then the dove aimed for HIM and flew down towards him. "Wait What, please don't kill me Mr. Dove, Nice Birdy!" He coaxed, looking perplexed. The Dove landed beside him and dropped a piece of parchment on the ground, which Dazon snatched. He read the message.

"Hi! I'm Kassyl, magician extraordinaire ♥︎

You can find me on top of that building near the dead-looking guy. Don't worry, he's a sweetheart so long as you watch out for the violet murder-fire.

But enough about me, you look super-interesting. What's your story?"

"Wait what?" Dazon asked himself. He looked onwards, there was a building near the dead guy. He through down a tablet. "I Summon......" He looked at the tablet he was holding with great disgust. "Blue-Eyes White D-D-Dragon!" He roared. A White Dragon appeared and gracefully flapped his wings, his blue eyes glowing with confusion. "S-Sorry M-Mr. D-Dragon!" He said, looking at it with fear. He had an un-needed fear of dragons. He jumped on and began to fly. "Let's meet this, what was it? oh yeah, Kassyl!"

Amaranth coughs for a minute... and when it subsides... he giggles. Giggles like a little girl as a new cube rose to join the others, making for four in his hand and four cards on his field. "What a wonderful idea, Marsdon!" Amaranth's voice suddenly takes on a bass-filled distortion effect that makes him sound like he's talking through a larger animal's chest.

"I activate the Field Spell Mystic Plasma Zone!" He shouts, throwing a spell from his hand to the center of the field. Blue lightning struck the ground where it hit, and clouds formed over-top of the Pyramid, swirling and flashing with sinister light. "Now, DARK monsters gain 500 Attack, and lose 400 Defense!"

One of Amaranth's face-downs flares to life, and a green dome drops over the two duelists, separating them from the city around them. "This Field Barrier Spell protects active Field Spells from being destroyed, and prevents the activation of new Field Spells as long as I control it! Next, I'll use Monster Reborn to resurrect my Dark Effigy from the Graveyard!"

The black cube rose to join its companion as Amaranth played another Spell from his hand. "Now I can Tribute both my monsters to Summon the very monster that will crush you, your little guild, and the entirety of Redwater!" The two monsters became engulfed in indigo flames, and they rose into the sky, combining into one large ball of fire. Then, the fire coalesced into a large stone heart, one belonging in the chest of a monster far larger than any human. The heart pulsed suddenly, and all around Amaranth glowing human figures, ghosts, crawled from the earth. "These are the spirits of the people who once hailed from my home, Vinhaven. They suffered a terrible fate, one you will soon share! Your future is one cloaked in eternal darkness! I summon,"

The souls floated up and spiraled into the stone heart, its glowing pulse quickening with every spirit it absorbed. Then, the heart went still... All was quiet... And it exploded into a spire of brilliant darkness, piercing the clouds and earth alike. When the light died, the earth burst, and up from it soared...

"EARTHBOUND IMMORTAL CHACU CHALLUA! THE KILLER WHALE!"

(There can only be 1 "Earthbound Immortal" monster on the field. If there is no face-up Field Spell Card on the field, destroy this card. Your opponent cannot target this card for attacks. This card can attack your opponent directly. Once per turn: You can inflict damage to your opponent equal to half this card's DEF. This card cannot attack during the turn you activate this effect. While this card is in Defense Position, your opponent cannot conduct their Battle Phase.)

ATK: 3400 (2900 + 500)

DEF: 2000 (2400 - 400)

The monster was beyond massive, beyond any dragon or beast anyone could possibly have seen. Its skin was as black as a new moon, and all across it danced indigo markings in a wave-pattern. Rows of razor-teeth were revealed as it opened its mouth and unleashed a roar more felt than heard. It rippled through the ground and ran down people's spines, filling them with a new kind of dread at what Amaranth planned to do with this beast.

Amaranth's hoodwas blown back and his cloak opened by the wind. Now his pale white eyes were filled with deep, indigo flame pouring out through the sides. The scars on his mouth split, and rows of inhuman teeth were revealed behind them. His face took on a sinister new look, and he laughed cruelly as a symbol burned itself into view on his mangled and scarred chest, glowing with sinister light. The glyph took the shape of a sea creature.

"When I said you had three turns left? I MEANT IT."

Marsdon stared in amazement at the sea creature before him, harsh winds whirling around him causing every tablet on his armor to shudder. "My field spell!" he claimed in desperation "Your whale becomes a reptile which means you take damage and your spirit gains a counter!" snakes slthered from beneath the streets, latching onto Amaranth and the immortal, barely noticeable compared to it "and I can use my Venom Serpent to add two more for a total decrease of fifteen hundred!" as his snake latched onto the monster Marsdon grinned, believing he still had a chance. "I'm not going down this easy! I am Marsdon the Viper, rank  eighteen of the Blood River Guild, and I will not be beaten by the likes of you!"

Zaddicus was in his chambers, preparing for the feast he would have with the Tarot holders currently residing in his halls. "I suppose these few could be enough to begin searching for the others." a guard suddenly burst through his door "Sir, the summoner in Redwater, the guild sent a message." he said pulling out a scroll "Very well. read." the guard unrolled the paper and began reading "Of course sir "Lord Zaddicus, with all due respect, you are an idiot" I'm sorry lord, I'm only reading as scribed" Zaddicus paused and turned to the messenger, his face void of any reaction "Please continue." " Yes sir "We cannot possibly defeat this man, you either know this and have killed all my loyal men or have no sense what so ever and it's a miracle you've gained control of this land, let alone held it. This "hanged man" as you've written is more powerful than possibly even you may be and frankly you deserve what comes next. Your faithful servent S" If I may master Zaddicus, perhaps you should send someone more well equipped to handle this issue." Zaddicus replied, his expression still calm and orderly "Are you suggesting you go? If this man can defeat the entire Blood River Guild why would any soldier I have stand a chance? Men like this are precisely the reason I need the holders of the Tarots." "Of course sir, my apologies." The guard saluted before quickly leaving the room, not giving his lord the chance to humiliate him further. "The keeper of the Hanged Man is very interesting, I can't wait for him to get here. Just in case i should put up the precautions I suppose" He opened his desk drawer, taking out a blank tablet as well as all the components he would need to make the most powerful and most difficult spell he's ever thought of.

Simon looked up to see a bird carrying a letter addressed to him, it read as such.

"Hi! I'm Kassyl, magician extraordinaire ♥︎

You can find me on top of that building near the dead-looking guy. Don't worry, he's a sweetheart so long as you watch out for the violet murder-fire.

But enough about me, you look super-interesting. What's your story?"

Simon looked at the place where this Kassyl was shruged and took out his own peice of papper.

"Dear Kassyl.

My name is Simon, that is all you need to know, as for you and your undead demon, i would rather watch from afar then have the life drain from my veins."

He waited for a minuete before deciding to add:

"...You wouldn't happen to know anything about tarrots, would you?

Simon"

He took a tablet out of his patch, a small winged square creature with a question mark above it's head.

Simon: "Mokey Mokey, Give this to a person named Kassyl, he'll be beside the flaming cloaked Zombie on top of that building."

With that, the strange angel creature took the peice of paper and went to send it to this Kassyl.

"You really shouldn't try this spell." The goat headed demon said, watching it's master work "I cannot allow anyone to betray me before i've gathered all the Tarot holders, you should know that." Zaddicus replied, not looking away from his work. "While your here why not make yourself useful, has The Star arrived yet?" "Yes, quite some time ago." Zaddicus turned to the spirit, keeping his hands on the spells components "And you felt no need to inform me?" He quickly canceled the spell creation and placed the objects carefully in his desk "What room is the child in?" "I'm not sure, also there appears to be another holder approaching the gates, this one seems to want to join you." Zaddicus left the room in a rush, taking a key from his desk with him. eventually he found one of the head keepers in charge of his guests "Oh lord Zaddicus! is there anything i may assist you with?" the elderly man spoke with a rather chipper attitude as he nodded his head in substitute of a bow "Yes, there is another guest arriving, I'd like you to give them the childs room and move the child to the chamber near the main hall." Zaddicus handed the man the key to the childs new quarters, turning to remove to his own after quickly remarking "Once you unlock the room for them give the child the key, no one is to enter that room except that child without my permission." "Yes Master Zaddicus." the servant remarked as he left to find the boy.

Astra's room was just like any one else' would be, a luxurious guest room with a bed of the softest down and finest sheets available along with a wardrobe for any extra clothing and a chest of drawers for keeping personal objects in. Astra was clutching his deck pouch, sure that someone would try to take it away. A man that Astra had seen tending the empty guest rooms knocked on his door, more for formality than anything as he proceeded to enter anyway, "Young master Astra was it? Lord Zaddicus has decided to move you to more . . . private living quarters." Astra looked at the man strangely as he was handed a key "If you'll come with me i'll show you to your new room."

Milleno walks up to the castle and sighs, a huge grin on his face, "I've finally made it!"

He knocks on the castle doors and is escorted in. He looks around and stares at the decor, dumbfounded and in awe. He can't believe he's really here, in the palace of his idol, "I have been invited to the castle. My name is Milleno and I wish to see the Lord at once. I have urgent business to talk to him about."

The escort stared at Milleno with amusement "Are you making requests of Master Zaddicus? How adorable, you think just because you've found one of those spirits the most important person in Erast has time for you. I'm afraid the Lord is busy at work, preparing and planning for the feast dedicated to all his appreciated guests, you'll have to wait until then to speak with him." The butler smirked "In the mean time allow me to show you to your room for the time being." the elderly man gestured for Milleno to follow and lead him to the nearby guest room previously occupied by Astra, so far the youngest of the summoners to arrive. as he left the servant turned to make a final remark "And please young master Milleno, make yourself comfortable and feel free to inform the staff of anything you might need, your happiness is among Master Zaddicus' top priorities." just like that Milleno was alone again.

Astra was exploring his new room, confused by his sudden upgrade, instead of one of the basic yet luxurious guest rooms in the opposite wing of the castle Astra was now in what looked like the bed room of a child, the wardrobe was filled with outfits for a young boy, no doubtably made from the finest materials and by the best tailors and seamstress' available. The boring white walls with a balcony overlooking the capital replaced with pastel red walls with purple accents along with a drawn on window where a real one would have been. In place of a drawer at his bed side there was an empty toy chest at the foot of his bed, which was not the king sized variety of the other rooms but a smaller queen sized bed with soft purple sheets and a slew of stuffed toys instead of pillows. "Why would I be moved here? It looks like this is already someones room." Astra pulled out the room key, which he placed in his deck pouch for safe keeping, as well as a tablet to summon Lupus with. The black dog doll yipped and scurried around the room excitedly while Astra stared at the key "Maybe This Zaddicus person just wants to keep younger people separate from everyone else for some reason? the people that brought me here kept saying it's unusual for a . . . a "summoner" to be so young." he said to his spirit who had now jumped on the bed and began making a makeshift nest of the other stuffed animals, staying still to appear as if he was just one of the lifeless toys.
