Yes, the fabled "Dark Theme" is now up for public usage!

 

You, too, can now have a YCM that isn't glaringly bright! Just go click the "Change Theme" dropdown at the bottom of the page!

 

However, we would ask that the members, as a whole, report glitches and bugs with the skin, as well as any comments or concerns with it.

 

Furthermore, Dark Text, such as those use by Yui and (Giga/Parentheses/Bill Cipher) may have to be toned back/disallowed. With a theme like this, it makes reading it difficult, and requires highlighting or quoting in order to do so.

 

However, this is not something that MUST happen, as doing such is not the same as glaring yellow text on a white background, which is going to be a strain on the eyes, glancing or not. This is something I'd like to see thoughts from the memberbase on.

It's a nice change to have a dark background under white letters.

Just tested it, and couldn't help but notice the card maker either has no access on that skin or has the button to get to it at some hidden place I did not find in the 5 minutes I looked around. I mean, not that it matters with how broken and outdated the card maker is, but just something I noticed.

 

Also, the Christmas lights pop a lot more awkwardly with other skins. Is it possible to make the Christmas logo gif with just the logo down the road? (like, cropping out the background that mixes into YCM's basic skin only). I think this ought to have been mentioned/asked in the past xD

The presentation of a black background looks nice.

 

However, does anyone else's Header Image stretch down? That's one thing I noticed that was off on the theme.

Lol what game is that image from anyways; Unreal Tournament? It's a very nice skin, though. The brighter text on a black backdrop is much easier on the eyes. Just a plain black background might've been better, but eh.

None of the dark colors (besides black obviously) seem to be broken here. Good stuff. I could get used to this theme actually.

Not quite a bug here, but in addition to the above, the hr dividers don't work because - much like the background - they are solid black. Not a complaint because that's kinda minor compared to how cool this theme looks, but definitely worth note. Probably.

Disallowing my blacktext is silly, considering the theme is optional anyway. If you can't read something, just highlight it or change to a different theme. It isn't difficult.

This is especially relevant in the context of the RP section, where people use different colors to differentiate in IC posts. If y'all want to use this new skin, I've nothing against it, but as long as the default theme/ycm2 is an option, I'm gonna keep posting the way I do.

Yeah, main thing aside from performance issues that might just be on my end would be the background and the the profile header.

 

Are those even something that could be changed?

I dig it. The only small complaint I have is that you can't see cover images on profiles unless you scroll down to their About Me section and even then you can't make out the whole thing. That and I think putting the level stars in instead of black dots would be a nice touch. But otherwise, I like how everything looks.

Although I do like how it shows up the sparkles nicely in member groups (although I'd rather have light blue or yellow ones for mine)
