Color Item

Free might be a bit much, but I can agree 750 points can be a bit too steep depending on a section. As per usual, I can only really speak from the viewpoint of what happens in RP, but in the OOC and - more recently - Database sections, the OP of a thread is prone to being edited a lot as characters come and go from an RP or get added to a database thread (of which like one or two are active). This could also be a point of concern for poll tournaments. For instance, the waifu wars thread updates with match results regularly. 750 points per OP/title update just to keep colors is pretty damn pricey. The rule even applies to CC Multiples to an extent, if the poster chooses to keep all their cards in one place, not to mention contest threads need to update their titles a couple of times each.

I get it's supposed to be a thing to not be recklessly spammed, but as Winter said, new members who would be more likely to spam them don't know how to use the shop anyway, and having to go to the shop just to use it is already good incentive not to go crazy with it. If not free, might I suggest considering that the price be lowered to, say, 100 points? Unless I'm forgetting how many points one gets for posting in threads and having their threads posted in for each section, 100 points per OP update should be enough to require actual investment, but not so much that it becomes cumbersome for threads that update often.

seeing that most YCM'er don't make 10 posts a day (the amt you'd need for 100 pts), I think even that's too steep

Been on YCM for a while now, don't think people really abuse stuff that much

This should give the amount of points you get from posting as a whole (for future reference).

-----

For CC, not many people (if any) use them; members do keep their stuff in one thread anyway and it would be a pain to repurchase the topic color after multiple updates (granted, the updating process is relatively slow for the most part throughout). I've only seen maybe one person use the color item in my area, and that's it.

Would have to see what the other staff members feel about this; think evilfusion can modify the price tags, but again, that's if the rest of us agree. Personally, I don't really use the topic color items (read: I only used it maybe once or twice) because I do modify threads a lot, so basically neutral on it.

You're lucky that it was lowered from 2000 points though (the equivalent of 2 months of custom groups or month's worth of posting if you're dedicated)

  • 4 weeks later...

Right now, we're dealing with other things at the moment, and even then, discussion amongst ourselves is still slow.

It's not that we don't care about getting this looked at, but rather that even with the new blood on the mod team, it's hard to really have a discussion when not everyone is speaking. The topic color hasn't been a hot issue lately, so suppose that's why it's been passed up. (How many of you use this item frequently?)

We'd use it more often if it was cheaper free...that's the point is it not sakura

I did bring it up to the other mods, but no response. Some things that would need to be considered.

1. Deciding what would be an idealistic value that's a reasonable price for members to pay, but make it so you actually consider when to buy/use another. I'd be fine with maybe 300-400 (which is about maybe 2-3 days worth of posts, depending on your activity), however it's not up to me alone to decide what the new price should be, if it needs to be changed.

2. How often will this be used (if we do lower the price tag to be affordable)? Is it going to be a reasonable increase, or one that results in you replacing them daily.

Right now, RP's are the only area that really use them often from observation (again, CC stuff tends to be updated quite a bit, depending on activity and the user in question, so it does waste the topic item).

[Would be nice if the color didn't reset whenever you modify the thread, but that's something out of our hands]

Right now, working on plans related to restructuring the site rules and other policies is a higher priority than adjusting the price of the topic colors. It's not that we do not care about it, but rather it's not on the priority list at this time (if it is being considered by the other mods).

We are taking your suggestions (both for this and other things), but the reason why a lot of changes are delayed is due to lack of communication / general agreement amongst ourselves due to various reasons.
