"Hey Lin, Hailey." Lin turned around to see Quinn, who was soaked from head to toe, he must've jumped into the pool in the conservation area. "Good morning too you cuties too!" Hoopa seemed annoyed at that.

"Hey, I'm not cute alright? But morning anyways." it's annoyed expression quickly turned into a smile.

"What's this I hear about a battle? Mind if I watch? I'm always down for learning something new! Gotta hold my own as a guardian, you know?" Lin shook her head. "I don't mind at all." she said giving a friendly smile, Hailey didn't seem to mind either.

"We should probably go there now." Lin nodded her head nervously. "Oh, right... Heh heh, no more delaying." Lin followed after Hailey with Hoopa floating right behind.

"Go, Dhelmise. Let's begin."

Dhelmise? So Ghost/Grass...not a bad comeback. Cyrus thought with a nod.

-BGM-

He watched River leaping upwards towards him with trident in hand. On instinct, he swung his arms to his right, before a blast of steam burst through his hands and propelled him to his left, dodging the strike from River. "Well that would've been bad." he chuckled, before turning to take a quick glance at Dhelmise. "Tectonic! Use Venoshock on River's Dhelmise! I'll give you cover!" Cyrus slammed his palms together and let loose a strong mist around both Dhelmise and Tectonic. Now River wouldn't be able to see what would happen...but at the same time, Tectonic would be at somewhat of an advantage.

Tectonic just stood there as the mist surrounded him and the Dhelmise, before moving quickly towards Dhelmise, preparing to fire off a Venoshock.

Lip followed Yars out to the Coliseum, a group of buildings that were kept separate from the rest of Aether to minimize the destruction that sometimes occurred while training. Lip didn't try to make much conversation with the Rocket grunt, an uncomfortable silence forcing him to awkwardly look around at the sights he had seen a hundred times before.  The watchtower resembled a lighthouse...in fact, Lip suspected that it probably was a lighthouse. Of course, he hadn't ever seen it lit. There wasn't really much cause to do so, they didn't have a lot of naval traffic moving in out of headquarters. The combat training area was the smallest building in the Coliseum. It had a simple one-floor layout that was spacious enough for several dozen people to move about it freely and a shooting range tacked on to the end. As Lip and Yars passed by he heard the familiar sound of gunfire coming from the range and the unmistakable ring of Colonel Guerrera's voice shouting at someone. Lip was grateful he hadn't been assigned to combat training that morning and if everything went according to plan, he would be able to skip his assignment tomorrow as well.

The battlefields took up the majority of the space at the Coliseum. True to it's name, the giant amphitheater formed a large circle around a dozen customizable battlefields. Yars and himself passed through one of the dark entrance tunnels beneath the seating area and led directly to the battlefield. Even before they opened the heavy doors that led into the arena Lip could hear the sounds of a battle taking place.

Sure enough, as Yars opened the door and ushered him in with an impatient wave, the two of them were affronted with a light wave of steam. One of the fields had been heavily cloaked in the mist and the sounds of a battle emanated from the cloud. Yars did not pay it any attention, however, heading directly for a woman that stood by herself.

"Well, look who finally decided to show up!" Sineva said, "I hope you're ready to throw down, because I've been itching for a fight since I got here!"

"Sorry, boss. It's just me." Yars replied. "Sorry it took me so long, I got slowed down by this kid. Says he's got something to talk to you about."

"Um, yes, ma'am." Lip piped up, mustering his courage. "Perhaps we could talk...privately?" Lip wasn't eager to discuss this topic in public. However, Sineva made no move to entertain his request, only narrowing her eyes. Lip swallowed hard.

"Okay, so anyway I know that you've got a way off this base and I need to get to the Alola Region."

Sineva's eyes somehow got even narrower, Lip felt as though they were literally piercing right through him. "You want to use my gunship to take a little vacation? I don't think so."

Mew.

"Not just me. A team. I want to take you and the rest of the Guardians to go find my father. He's gone missing."

"Mew. Mew." Still hovering invisible over his shoulder, Mew said something to Lip that caused him to pause and turn to the Legendary.

"Wait...really?" Lip asked. Mew just nodded in confirmation of whatever had just been said. "Hold on just one second." Lip said to Sineva.

Jogging over to the battlefield that was covered in steam, Lip cupped his hands to yell to whomever was inside. "Cyrus, River. Is that you?"

"Mew could you..." Mew's eyes glowed blue as she activated her psychic powers. A dull shockwave rippled through the area, causing most of the cloud-cover to dissipate. River and Cyrus were indeed the ones fighting on the battlefield, however, interrupted by Lip and Mew they inevitably paused when the steam inexplicably cleared.

The door to the Coliseum then loudly crashed open, Garrett Estrada running in. "Alright, Sineva, I'm ready to teach you a les-" The Tapu Guardian paused as he sensed that he may have just walked in on something. However, there wasn't much time to explain as right behind came a trio of trainers, each of them Guardians as well.

"Meewww~." The small, pink Pokemon popped into existence with an amused laughed. Clearly she found it funny that all the Guardians had managed to find their way to the exact same place when Lip most needed them.

"Are we having some sort of Guardian meeting?" Cyrus asked from behind Lip, being the voice of everyone's confusion. Lip could only laugh nervously as he realized that now the task came to him to lay out his plan. "Because if we are, shouldn't Kogu be here?"

"Did someone say my name?" Entering from the opposite side, Kogu entered the arena, drawn in by the clamor he had heard while walking by.

Mew. Mew. Mew, mew! Lip had fallen silent as the reality of the situation sunk in. He was about to suggest to them all that they break some major Aether rules, all on behalf of his father. Fortunately, Mew woke him from his stupor and he began to speak.

iU8EggM.png

The plan was a simple one. Sineva's gunship, the Zharptitsa, was kept on the landing area on the roof of the main building. All the Guardians had to do was make it to the landing pad and get out before anyone stopped them. It was the 'before anyone stopped them' that posed a bigger problem than Lip would've liked to acknowledge. Even though the roof was an open access area, it was heavily guarded by patrol Pokemon to stop...well, to stop exactly what they were intending to do.

Fortunately, they already had an ally up on the roof. One of Sineva's crew, Katyusha, would be waiting for them. She would pilot them away from Aether if they could just make it to the gunship. Lip didn't suspect that anyone would be able to get in the air fast enough if they could just make it off the base. Unfortunately, as luck would have it the Zharptitsa was held on the landing pad furthest away from the single set of elevators that led up to the roof.

The nine Guardians were packed into the elevator, somewhat uncomfortably. It had taken Lip quite awhile to explain his plan and then convince them, some of whom were practically strangers to tag along with him. He's sure that they each had their own reason for agreeing. He liked to believe that they were all just incredibly altruistic and they were helping him out, but in reality he knew that the weeks away at sea without a chance to touch dry land probably fed into it. Still, he was grateful, regardless of their motives. Although the silence of the cramped elevator was enough to remind them all of the awkwardness of their quick team up.

As the digital number indicating what floor they were on dutifully changed to 6, Lip inhaled shakily before speaking. "Remember, um, that there is only going to be one human guard up on the roof but probably close to a dozen security Pokemon. As soon as we get out of the elevator the guard will probably be suspicious of us, so we, uh, have to work fast. We can't let him sound the alarm." The weight of his father's pistol seemed to get heavier as he spoke. He hoped that he wouldn't have to use it. Not here at least. He could imagine the Chancellor forgiving them for going AWOL, but not for murder.

The elevator quickly passed up the 7th floor and they were nearing the roof. Mew was invisible, the only trace of her was a small depression on Lip's shoulder where she was anxiously perched. Lip nervously turned a PokeBall over and over in his hand. After this, there was no going back.

With a low electronic hum, the doors to the elevator slid open. The guard they were expecting looked at the group of them quizzically. "Can I help you all with something? I don't have a scheduled departure any time soon." Lip's eyes immediately darted to the handheld device attached at his belt. His father carried the exact same device, he knew it could be used to signal the alarm.

"I'm sorry about this." Lip said, his sigil glowing briefly before he turned invisible. "Now." He whispered for the Guardians to make a break for it.

[spoiler=OoC]

Alright everyone, I apologize for the tediously long introduction, but finally some action. One way or another, Lip has convinced the rest of the Guardians to accompany him on his mission to find his father. Feel free to describe Lip giving a rousing speech about the duty of being a Guardian. Or, tugging at your heart with the stories of his dad. Or, you just simply were tagging along out of sheer boredom at HQ. Regardless, you now have found yourself on rooftop about to mark yourselves as outlaws.

As detailed, there is only one human guard. He's armed with a couple Pokemon himself, a taser baton, and a gun, hopefully he doesn't need to use it. You are free to take control of the guard, just don't kill him. He can have whatever Pokemon you like...although take size into consideration. Remember he's stationed on the roof with limited space, so he probably won't be throwing out a Tyranitar.

For those of you that are able to make it passed the guard/around him/simply don't want to engage him...you are, unfortunately, not home free. There are several Pokemon making rounds up on the roof that will attack. There are about a dozen Pokemon up there in total, feel free to battle them and choreograph your own battle as you see fit.

These are the types of Pokemon you may encounter.

magnezone.gifwatchog.gifstaraptor.gif774.png

EDIT: Also there was a time lapse in between the scene at the Coliseum and now on the roof. It is nearing evening. Your characters had time to grab a few things for the mission, if they were so inclined.

Aether International - Coliseum: Battle Grounds

Just before, Garrett and Tapu Bulu had gone to one of several restaurants that Aether International had at their disposal after their training, and had just finished up their lunch. They both had nice salads that were freshly prepared by the chefs who were there at said restaurant, although Garrett joked about Tapu Bulu's needing more bacon... even though for understandable reasons, the Land Spirit in question was a vegetarian. In any case, Garrett stood up after setting down his cutlery.

"I guess we see about that battle now," Garrett decided, "It's rude to keep a lady waiting after all... even one as despicable as her,"

With that, they left the restaurant and returned to the Coliseum where Sineva would no doubt be waiting. Kicking the door for dramatic effect, he stormed inside and approached Sineva, eager to face her and her Pokemon team like he had before.

"Alright Sineva, I'm ready to teach you a les-..." Garrett paused mid-sentence, discovering that Lip was present among the top of them for no apparent reason, and that River and Cyrus had stopped a battle that they engaged in and were on their way over, "Oh... hey there, kiddo. Cyrus. Graves."

"Well that was anti-climatic," Tapu Bulu noted as Garrett looked around to see who else was around, but sensed that whatever the both of them may have stumbled into was important, "Hmm... something tells me that your so-called "lesson" will have to be put on hold."

"Yyyyeeeeah..." Garrett stretched out this word as he turned around to see another trio of Guardians, "Something tells me the exact same thing,"

He nodded in acknowledgement of the trio's arrival, before listening to Lip's speech. Apparently he wanted everyone to help him find his father who, according to him, was last seen somewhere in Alola, and the only way that they would be getting anywhere was by... procuring, a gunship that Sineva had set on the rooftops. Supposing there was nothing for it, Garrett followed everyone else to the elevators, and leaned at the back of it as Lip pressed the button that would bring them way up.

Aether International - Elevator Scene

"So... our destination is Alola," Tapu Bulu stated as the elevator continued its ascent, before turning to Garrett, "You think we might get to Mahalo Trail after all?"

"Possibly; I'll ask for a narrowed down location when we get to the ship," Garrett informed the Land Spirit Pokemon, "But we need to focus on finding Lip's old man."

"Supporting a fellow Guardian, huh?" a smirk would be seen forming across Tapu Bulu's face if it had a visible mouth, "I see you,"

"He's a good kid, alright?" Garrett sank his head and began to muse as he said this, "...so was Kailee for that matter."

Flashback - Encountering Kailee Avila

A young 14-year-old Garrett had been pacing up and down at a ferry terminal, wanting the ship that was meant to get him to Alola to hurry up and arrive already. He was anxious to get going, and seemed eager to try out this thing going around could the Island Challenge. He had heard that it would be totally different from the various leagues in which he participated. As he was pacing up and down, the young Garrett noted a girl in a black dress, sitting on one of the benches on her own, and hugging her Numel tightly as people passed her by. The girl seemed so lonely out there so, supposing he should at least see if she wanted company, Garrett casually approached her.

"Hey there," he said to the girl, "Mind if I sit here?"

"I, uh..." the girl seemed confused at first, but smiled, "Sure, go ahead."

With that, Garrett took his newfound seat. Sure, it didn't solve his current problem of having to wait for the ferry, but at least now he had someone to talk to, which would alleviate the boredom for a certain amount of time. On top of that, the girl would find it nice to have Garrett's company.

"So... ferries, huh?" he said as he tapped his foot impatiently, "Sure take a while to get here,"

"Yeah..." the girl shyly replied. Not much of ice breaker from Garrett, evidently.

"What brings you out here anyway?" asked Garrett, out of curiosity.

"Hm? Oh! I'm trying to return home to my family," answered the girl, "I'm... kinda looking forward to seeing my parents in particular, actually,"

"You come from Alola? Wow," the young Garrett was seemingly amazed, "And here I am just trying to take on that Island Challenge I keep hearing about. Go figure..."

The Island Challenge. Apparently participants would have undergo seven trials, and triumph over powerful Alolan Pokemon that they would come to know as the Totem Pokemon. At first, Garrett was disappointed to hear that there were only seven trials to the Island Challenge. But eventually he'd learn (the same way he learnt anything really, that being the hard way) that the final trial would be more difficult than facing two Gym Leaders at once. In any case, Garrett realized that he'd yet to get the girl's name... and figured now was as good a time as any to procure it.

"I'm Garrett, by the way. Garrett Estrada," Garrett introduced himself first, since it was the courteous thing to do.

"Nice to meet you. My name's Kailee Avila, and this here is Caramel, my Numel," the girl, Kailee, held out the Numel for Garrett to pet as she said this.

"Caramel, huh? Cute," Garrett stated in an awkward tone; he respectively declined the offer that Kailee implied to have present, but admired the Numel's presence nonetheless, "Y'know, Numel are actually good to have around. Their typing generally fears well with those of many other Pokemon. Just stay clear of Water-types."

"I'll... keep that in mind," Kailee replied, just as what sounded like a bell could be heard from the distance.

Aether International - Rooftops

Suddenly, the typical chime of the elevator reaching an intended floor had rang, snapping Garrett out of his reminiscing of the poor girl. He followed everyone else, up until the point that he noticed a lone guard, who was presumably patrolling the area when he heard the chime go off and the doors open.

"Can I help you all with something? I don't have a scheduled departure any time soon."

"I'm sorry for this..." Lip seemed to have the guard covered, stealing a handheld device that would otherwise easily allow for him to call for back-up, and vanishing from the guard's sight in an instant. Cursing under his breath, the guard released a Mightyena, and had ordered it to use Odor Sleuth in an attempt to track Lip down. It was a smart move from the guard's perspective... if not for him being a bit too focused on the Mew Guardian. Some of the other Guardians decided they could afford to make a break for it while the guard's back was turned, and some of them, Garrett included, had resorted to a more stealthy approach of bypassing the guard, for safe measure.

But unfortunately for everyone, the guard managed to spot every single one of them.

"Hey! Stop! All of you!" he immediately gave chase, the Mightyena he'd released beforehand instinctively following suit. Concerned for the girls' safety in particular, Garrett reached for a Poke Ball of his own mid-run; the one Nest Ball he had on his belt, to be precise. He skidded to a halt, and turned to face the pursuing duo.

"Orion! I choose you!" Garrett called, hurling the Nest Ball with all his might, a red beam projecting out his trusted Araquanid to block the Mightyena's path, before turning to the others, "You guys go on ahead. We'll slow this bastard down so that he can't catch up to you,"

Tectonic did close in to strike at Dhelmise with Venoshock, however...Cyrus' steamy mist dissipated suddenly and the Seismitoad stopped immediately. Apparently the one who stopped it was Lip and his Legendary: Mew.

"Well this is interesting." Cyrus said quickly, before returning Tectonic back to his PokéBall. "Guess we'll need to continue this later, River! Geyser! C'mon!"

Geyser let out a heavy sigh, a bit disappointed to see the battle end almost as quickly as it began. Then again, if this one kid needed something to stop a battle like this, it had to be important.

Quickly getting up towards the group, Cyrus spoke up from behind Lip. "Are we having some sort of Guardian meeting?" He noticed that Lip began to laugh nervously, but it why was he? "Because if we are, shouldn't Kogu be here?"

"Did someone say my name?"

Cyrus looked over and saw Kogu walking towards the group, causing him to laugh a bit. "Actually yeah! Nice timing!"

"Enough dawdling!" Geyser spoke up, looking from Cyrus to Lip. "Speak boy. What is it?"

Xvignette_zps578dff7a.png

You cannot be serious. Geyser thought to Cyrus from his UltraBall, who was surprisingly humming to himself as he put on a pair of sunglasses. Cyrus, you're actually going along with this suicidal plan?!? He could only feel his Guardian shifting his shoulder slightly, probably adjusting his backpack.

I wouldn't call it suicidal, Geyser... Cyrus smirked, running his hand through his hair. I call it a mission that simply needs to get done. Besides, if no one else is gonna do it, why not us?

Tch, humans...I'll never understand your logic. Geyser huffed.

"Remember, um, that there is only going to be one human guard up on the roof but probably close to a dozen security Pokemon. As soon as we get out of the elevator the guard will probably be suspicious of us, so we, uh, have to work fast. We can't let him sound the alarm."

"Don't sweat it, Lip. I'm sure we'll be fine!" he smirked, as the elevator came to a halt and finally opened. It was game time...

Cyrus saw the guard and was pretty much making a note to go for him, and as soon as Lip gave the word...he would stri-

"Orion! I choose you! You guys go on ahead. We'll slow this bastard down so that he can't catch up to you!"

Garret apparently got to him before he could, well that sucked. Still, with the bulk of the group already running, Cyrus' sigil began to glow as well, before he propelled himself forward, up, and over both Garret and the guard. "Heh, don't lose to him, Garret!!" he chuckled, before landing on the other side of Garret, quickly trying his best to catch up to the others.

That's when he noticed up ahead, two new Pokémon blocking their way: Watchogs. Cyrus gave off a small smirk, before grabbing two PokéBalls on his belt and tossing them ahead of him. "Ken! Minato! Showtime guys!!"

"BLAZIKEN!!"

"GRENIN...JA!!"

Cyrus' two Pokémon were called, and it was time. "Guys!! Make room and keep your heads down!!" he shouted, watching the group sort of split slightly and ducking their heads. "Ken! Give off a Blaze Kick to the Watchog on the left! Minato, Water Shuriken on the right!"

Ken and Minato nodded firmly, before making their way at a fast pace in front of the others. The two Watchogs stood their ground, as the one on the left tried to go in for a Hyper Fang, but ultimately was only met with a fiery kick to the face, being sent flying. Meanwhile, the one on the right tried to get up close and personal with Minato, using Iron Tail like it was going out of style. However, the Greninja gracefully dodged every attempt and sent the second Watchog flying via Water Shuriken.

"Awesome work guys!!" Cyrus shouted, laughing as both Greninja and Ken returned to his side, running along with him.

It was a shame that Lin never got to have that battle with Hailey, though Lip's little... Mission, if you could call it that, had Lin interested all the way. Especially since they were finally going to be getting off this man made island and onto actually land. Hoopa was very eager as well. "I can't wait till we get out of here!" it cheered from the top of the elevator. "Hoopa this is more important than getting off Aether Paradise..." Lin replied to Hoopa's cheer. "Hey, even a portal making djinn needs some time away from nothing but white walls and artificial life." Hoopa did have a point there, but now wasn't the time to think about that, now was the time to focus.

When the elevator doors opened, the group were immediately met with the guard. Lip rushed out and turned invisible, giving the signal to rush out. The guard had sent out a Mightyena to try and stop Lip but Garret had it covered with his Araquanid. Lin weaved her way through the ongoing battles but caught sight of some shadows above her, a trio of Starraptors.

"They do not like us one bit, Berry go get em!" Lin sent out a heal ball and from the beam of red light emerged her Oricorio, Berry. It made an adorable whistling noise before facing down the Starraptors. "Berry, knock 'em out of the sky with Hurricane!" On Lin's command, Berry started moving in a hula dancing fashion and then began to spin rapidly. The fast motion created a large gust of wind aimed at the Starraptors, of which were caught in the enormous current and flung all over the place before to the ground.

"Yeah, good going Berry!" Lin couldn't celebrate for too long as a Power Gem smacked Berry over. The little Oricorio stood back up but two Miniors stood in the way now. "Oh no.. I could use some help here!" she called over her shoulder.

Aether International: Coliseum ~ Battle Area

A lot had happened once they got to the coliseum. As soon as they got there, a large group had formed there; most of them being fellow guardians. Everything went by fairly quickly, and Hailey barely kept up with what was going on. Before she knew it, she was in an elevator, rather uncomfortably packed in there with a bunch of her fellow guardians. She wasn't too sure on the details of what happened or what they were planning; all she knew was that she and the others were going to help Lip find his father in Alola. While it went against Aether protocol, she was swept away by the tear jerk that was his story. She couldn't help herself to help him. She let out a sigh, preparing herself for the worst.

Aether International: Rooftop

When they made it to the rooftop, the door opened to reveal the single guard that Lip talked about. "Can I help you all with something? I don't have a scheduled departure any time soon." Before she could try and explain the situation, Lip leapt into action, turning invisible. The guard, sending out his Mightyena, started searching for the boy. Before they had a chance to slip through him, however, he spotted the group. Garret had decided to take the guard on, sending out his Araquanid. Hailey took the chaotic nature of the battle to her advantage and snuck by the guard.

Hailey's advance was stopped by a pair of Minior. The staraptor that had just gotten hit by the powerful Hurricane were beginning to stand back up, although it was obvious they had taken quite a bit of damage from the attack. Lin stood there with her injured Oricorio, before turning and asking the others for help. Reaching into her belt, she grabbed two premier balls and released them into the air "Go, Inti and Killa!" Out of the beams of light emerged a Solrock and a Lunatone. Hailey turned to Lin. "The Staraptors look like they're about to get up. You handle them; I got the miniors." She then turned back to the pair of Miniors, whom had already started there assault; the Minior that hadn't attacked decided that it was its turn, as it fired a Rock Slide at the new comers. The Solrock face-tanked the falling rocks while the Lunatone barely managed to get out of the way. "Killa, use Ice Beam! Inti, use Stone Edge! Focus fire one of them!" Without hesitation, the two celestial rocks began there own attack; the Lunatone fired a ridged beam of ice towards the one on the left, which was followed by a barrage of stones fired from the Solrock. The onslaught of attacks sent the minior flying, cracking its rocky exterior to reveal its bright yellow core. "Good job guys!" She applauded her Pokemon.

Lip had yet to get used to moving invisibly. The obvious perk of it being that no one could see you, but Lip often forgot that, that meant people couldn't see him. He only narrowly avoided being hit by a Water Shuriken, fired from Cyrus' Geninja. It took everything in him not to shout in surprise, but he restrained himself, not wanting to give away his position. Moving as carefully as he could between the different air craft up on the roof, he tried to find Sineva's gunship. Unfortunately, before he could find the damned thing he ran almost directly into a Magnezone that was quickly hovering its way to where the rest of the action was. Lip had to drop to the ground to avoid being hit by the thing.

Watching it, Lip saw it pause, and then it's small magnetic arms began to spin, a ball of electricity beginning to form between them. As was the case with most Pokemon he encountered, Lip inherently knew the Pokemon's moves. What could easily be mistaken as an Electro Ball, was actually the beginning of a Zap Cannon. Lip's eyes grew wide as he saw that Magnezone take aim at Garrett, who was too busy dealing with the guard to notice.

Mew.

"I know, I know. Go Weezing!" Lip's form reappeared behind the Magnezone just as he was throwing his PokeBall. It clanged loudly against the metal shell of the Magnezone, releasing a two-headed poison type Pokemon. "Flamethrower!" The bright light from the PokeBall hadn't even faded by the time Weezing's two mouths opened to shoot a stream of fire at the Magnezone. Knocked off balance by the super effective attack, the Zap Cannon fired wildly up into the air, missing Garrett completely.

However, the Magnezone turned back to face it's attacker. Lip didn't know if he was imagining it or not, but the Pokemon's eyes look almost literally red with anger. Lip swallowed nervously, his Weezing floating down in between the two.

The guard sized up the Araquind in front of him, his Mightyena growling menacingly. "Thunder Fang!" He ordered. Mightyena leapt towards the large spider Pokemon, it's fangs outstretched and crackling dangerously with electricity. He hoped that this would provide enough of a distraction for him to call for back-up. Reaching for his belt, the guard moved for the small device that would trigger the alarm. If he could just buy himself a couple of seconds then a half-dozen more guards would be here in no time flat to help him.

"Hey! Stop! All of you!"

In a word, the plan was insane. The Guardians were to simply barrel through this place, get on a helicopter, and find Lip's father. River wanted nothing to do with it, but even as she analyzed the chaos unfolding before her with that thought, she could feel the thoughts of another in her head. Kyogre again, though the "signal" was much fainter now that there was some distance between River and the nearest body of water. It told her something about her obligation to fellow Guardians. If she didn't think about others, she wasn't worthy of...something. She never caught what it was. I'll show him, River mentally huffed. Of course she was worthy! River Graves has no equal.

Now was the perfect time to help others, in fact. Garrett's Araquanid was about to get acquainted with a Thunder Fang from the guard's Mightyena. Glancing in said guard's direction revealed to her the device needed to call for backup. She had a plan. Reaching for one of the Dive Balls at her hip, River tossed it forward with a "Go, Eelektross." The ball opened, revealing a floating blue eel-type monster that placed itself between Garrett's Pokemon and that of the guard. Pointing at the guard, she ordered "Fry that guard's device with Charge Beam." The Eelektross obliged, firing forth a beam of electricity aimed at the guard and his small device.

Aether International - Rooftops

"Thunder Fang," upon order, the Mightyena lunged at Orion with a maw opened wide, and crackling with all sorts of static electricity. Garrett grimaced in an evident frustration; of course a trained Mightyena would have one of the three element fang moves on hand; if not Thunder Fang specifically for Orion, then the one he was battling right now probably would've revealed Fire Fang or Ice Fang if Tapu Bulu were to take it on instead. However, Orion wasn't about to take any type of Electric-type attack; not this time. He immediately pounced to one side as the Mightyena hurled itself at him, and got himself into position to strike the Mightyena from the side.

"Nice dodge, Orion," Garrett complimented the Araquanid, "Now strike back with...!"

"Incoming!" the man looked behind just in time to note that a Magnezone was trying to fire a Zap Cannon directly at him. He was surprised to see that Tapu Bulu was even there to warn him to begin with, figuring he'd have joined the others. Then again, if for neither the Land Spirit's warning nor the preemptive strike on the Magnezone to knock it off balance, Garrett would'e easily taken the Zap Cannon to his back... and he wouldn't have taken it well at all...

"Well... it was incoming..." the Land Spirit said as he noted the flight path that the attack had taken instead.

"Heh, thanks for the warning anyway Bulu," Garrett quipped, before returning his attention to the battle at hand, "Now then... use Leech Life, Orion,"

Orion had been waiting for an order from Garrett this whole time, but perhaps he'd waited too long. All the zeal in the Pokemon World couldn't help Orion land his attack on the Mightyena that expertly dodged it. But he pressed the attack nonetheless, expecting it to run out of steam eventually. That's when Garrett noticed one of the guard's hand shift. He instinctively reached for another ball on his belt, and Tapu Bulu raised an arm with intent to fire off a Leech Seed.

Though before either of them had a chance to see their actions through...

"Fry that guard's device with Charge Beam," yet another unexpected person to have stayed behind, River had unleashed an Eelektross from a Dive Belt that would've previously been at her side, letting the two know that she had the guard's attempt to call for back-up covered. The shot of electricity would no doubt short-circuit the device that the guard had on him... should it connect, anyway. He knew what he needed to try and do.

"Change of plan Mightyena; use Crunch on that Eelektross," the guard commanded.

"Cover it!" Garrett called out in response.

The Mightyena charged straight for the Eelektross, lunging at it with a maw opened wide. This was the opportunity that Orion was waiting for. He slammed right into the underside of the Mightyena just as it made its jump, and sunk his fangs right into the flesh to drain blood from it. That Mightyena wasn't going anywhere fast...

Kogu wasn't sure of exactly of what to think of all of this. Lip wanted them all to gather and escape on a ship, which hey, aligned with his goals, so who was he to say no? So he followed the group, not speaking up since he was more worried about the Zygarde cells he left around the base to... gather information. He was currently calling them back, but.. it could take a bit before they rejoined with him.

"You sure this is a good idea?" Zygarde asked as he looked up at Kogu, sitting like a dog would.

"Of course! Any plan to get off this island is a good one!" Kogu answered, chuckling over the mental link he had with his legendary. Zygarde just sighed and stood up as the elevator door opened up... and a guard saw them right off the bat. Woo, Solid Seviper would be proud of them. "Let's go, Cell!" Kogu stated as he jumped on his Legendary's back, the two taking off. With a smile, he grabbed a Pokeball and tossed it out. "Kazo, help us out!" A Gabite emerged, before running along side of the legendary dragon dog.

Using the remaining cells he had, Kogu created a gauntlet around his fist, smirking as they ran towards a Magnezone. With a grunt, he punched the Pokemon into the ground, which Kazo followed up with a Fire Fang. With that, they kept riding. They would get to that ship and make sure it was secure!

Quinn forgot what had happened, it was practically all a blur.  One moment, he was waiting for his friends to start battling, and the next thing he was thrown into an elevator along with the rest of the guardians.  Even though he had no idea what was going on, Quinn couldn't help but smile.  All of them here in one place...it was kind of nice.  The goofy grin continued as he and the other guardians rushed out of the elevator.

"So...what were we supposed to do again?"  Quinn pondered as he walked across the battlefield as nonchalantly as possible, almost unaware of all the commotion that was happening around him.  Golisopod abruptly discharged himself out of his pokeball, sensing that things were getting troublesome.

"Somethin' about a helicopter?"  A Honchkrow started to divebomb him, but was quickly intercepted by Wimpy.  Wimpy proceeded to throw the Honchkrow behind the unaware Quinn.  When the bird let out a squawk past his ear, Quinn looked around suddenly.  Battles were happening all over the place.

"Oh geez...am I gonna be put on some sort of list for doing this?"

Aether International
Coliseum Battling Area
Earlier

She couldn't believe it. This little pipsqueak wanted to go all the way to Alola, which was probably well behind them at that point, and find his beloved father. "You want to use my gunship to take a little vacation? I don't think so." She saw Garrett, her intended target for a stress-relieving battle, enter, but thought about it. Organizing an escape plan would be rather cathartic, and what could the Aether guys, especially Guerrera, possibly do about it? She grinned, and started to outline the plan, well, part of the plan, because she had a few strings to pull behind the scenes. Once the little party was done, she whipped out her phone, and began making a few private calls...

Aether International
Rooftop Launchpad
Now

There were two additional components to the hairbrained scheme that Sineva had added in. The first was Katyusha, who had managed to cajole her way onto the rooftop earlier to do a "90-day maintenance" on the Zharptitsa, and had asked the guard politely if some of her Team's Murkrow could help with the series of items on her checklist. While the guard had been hesitant about letting such mischievous creatures on his flight deck, she had shown that the Rocket Murkrows were clearly quite obedient and trained, and so, half a dozen of the little guys had been flitting and hopping about the craft, working with the girl as she sweated beneath the wing of the gunship. Her usual uniform had been stripped down to a black sleeveless tank top and her pants, and she had just returned from a shower not too long ago to get the grime of the messier parts of the maintenance off, now wearing a set of headphones around her neck, a cute brown pilot's cap with shades, and her hair tied back into a bun. The guard had made a comment at her, but she simply returned the pleasantry. She had analyzed the patterns of the patrols around the flight deck (though why they had Magnezones floating about the aircraft with highly-sensitive magnetically-vulnerable equipment was baffling), and when Sineva had given a text signal that they were heading up the elevator, she gave commands to the Murkrow to disperse for the plan.

As Sineva stepped out of the elevator, she began to stroll calmly towards her bird, the brilliant fire-red gunship with yellow and orange designs to evoke flames at the end, her rotors not been used since she got here, just rotting beneath the tropical sun. Her beloved Firebird, the craft that had ferried her around Sinnoh and beyond for a decade, and had let her escape from Sinnoh when the end came. Chaos erupted around her, and thus, she calmly reached down to her waist, pulled out a sextet of Pokeballs, and declared. "Alright, boys and girls! Time to pave the road for Mama!" The six balls erupted out, and Laska landed first, the obedient Weavile not fitting in the elevator with the others, while a Crobat flitted into existence, a large Honchkrow settled down and ruffled her feathers and adjusted her crest, a Magnezone rotated about to see its surroundings with its three eyes, a male Houndoom glared at the approaching Mightyena and growled, and finally, a massive Drapion roared and clacked its pincers, tensing for combat.

Obeying their Mistress, the Honchkrow extended her wings and swooped up, while the others formed a perimeter around their Trainer, who continued her steady walk to her craft without missing a step or stopping for anything, utterly confident in her Pokemon and their ability to protect her. A Minior dive-bombed towards Sineva, but Letuchaya the Crobat struck it down, its shell shattering and its green core fizzling before falling from a swift Steel Wing. A Staraptor tried the opposite side, but a bolt of lightning between two helicopters to strike it square in the chest from the hovering Magnezone dissuaded it from such a maneuver. A second Magnezone, clearly hostile, prepared to blast the Crobat from the sky like its fellow Rocket Pokemon had done for its own friend, but a series of powerful chops from above as Laska the Weavile descended upon its hull sent it crashing to the ground, twitching. A trio of Watchogs scurried towards the blonde, but each was grabbed by an ivory claw, the Drapion picking them up effortlessly by the scruffs of their necks before slamming all three against one another to disorient them before giving each a powerful dose of Cross Poison for good measure to keep them down. And a line of Magnezones headed for the obvious objective, ready to damage the hard work of Katyusha, but discovered that mastery of magnetism helps very little when threatened with both unnatural evil energies and intense, concentrated heat from an angry Houndoom. Sineva's cadre of Pokemon proceeded to the Zharptitsa with her, Sineva composing a second text message and sending it, glancing out of the corner of her eye at her blimp off in the distance.

The second component of her plan fell into place as Mama Vorona the Honchkrow settled on an extended lightning rod and crowed out loudly, loud enough for everyone on the artificial island that was outside or had an open window to the outside could hear. Unseen to those on Aether International, dozens of Rocket Grunts stood from windows and decks on the Snezhnaya Koroleva and threw out their Pokeballs, releasing what could be seen from Aether International as a small black cloud that loomed closer and closer, but the signature caws and cries of the individual members of the cloud betrayed its true nature. The elder Honchkrow took flight with her massive wings, gliding into the swarm of Murkrow as they soared around the rooftop, overwhelming aerial defenders and providing a wonderful distraction for Katyusha to open the door to the Zharptitsa and enter, heading across the lavish cabin to the cockpit beyond, sitting down in the pilot's seat, and starting the engines, the rotors beginning to spin up with an increasing whirring noise. She put on her headset, dialed into the Aether International frequency, and began a highly abbreviated takeoff sequence, most of it already been done with the maintenance to make sure the crimson gunship was air-worthy for her journey. "Tower, this is Firebird One. I am not requesting takeoff, I am not requesting permission for VTOL taxi along Eastbound axis, say again, Eastbound axis, and I am not requesting clearance for Machbusting at One-Zero-Zero-Zero Marks beyond Tower, over."

"This is Tower. Sorry, Firebird One, but we do not understand what you are saying. Repeat, over?" The voice crackled over the radio.

"Tower, Firebird One. I am NOT requesting takeoff. I am NOT requestion permission to taxi with VTOL along Eastbound axis until I am one kilometer from you. And when I reach that point, I am NOT requesting clearance to go supersonic. Over." She rolled her eyes, wondering what these idiots did all day.

Meanwhile, outside of the craft, Sineva turned to her fellow Guardians, and bellowed as loud as she could. "Oly oly oxen free!" She hoped that the Guardians would hear the signal to stop the fighting and fall back to the Zharptitsa.

The only word that accurately described the events on the roof was chaos. Complete and utter chaos. Admittedly, that was before a storm of Murkrow blotted out the sky. Then it was as if Giratina himself had broke loose. "Oly oly oxen free!" Sineva called, signaling to the guardians that the Firebird was ready for take off. It was time for them to leave. Lip ordered his Weezing to fire off another Flamethrower at the Magnezone before making a break for the jet.

The other Guardians were disengaging from their battles as well, everyone moving towards their only mode of escape. Fortunately, the guard's method of alerting the base had been fried. Not that, that was really important anymore, considering Sineva had alerted everyone to their departure with her personal murder of Murkrows and their cacophony of caws. It was no doubt that more guards would be on the roof in no time.

"Come on, everyone on board! Hurry up!" Lip yelled to the straggling Guardians, his voice barely audibly over the noisy shadow of Pokemon. His head turned to the guard that had thought to be dispatched. He was aiming a taser at one of the fleeing Guardians. Lip steeled himself. Leaping from the open door of the Firebird, he drew his father's gun, pointing it at the guard.

"Don't make me shoot!!" He shouted. "I mean it, don't make me!" The guard faltered, looking at Lip's white knuckles and nervous trigger finger. He lowered the taser just an inch or two.

"Wait a minute! You're Vega's boy, aren't you?" The guard called out to him. Fortunately by this time all the Guardian had made it on to the Firebird except for Lip.

"Weezing! Smokescreen!!" A thick black smog obscured the line of sight between Lip and the guard. He turned, returning Weezing as he did so, and ran back for the Firebird, clambering on board just as it was ascending.

The Guardians could see a unit of a dozen guards burst on to the roof just as they were leaving the island. They were too late. They had escaped.

"To Alola." Lip said shakily, holstering his father's gun.

[spoiler=OoC]

Okay, as I am sure you noticed, this post is a bit ambiguous. This was intentional. You are left with the freedom to wrap up your battles any way you choose and get on board the Firebird. This is the time to hash out your feelings about the mission, I know we just jumped into the thick of things. So, freak out, be calm, ask questions, take a nap...pls don't just out of the plane.

Aether International: Rooftop

The battle between her and the Miniors raged on. The other minior unleashed a powerful Rock Slide at the duo. The Lunatone barely managed to dodge it while the Solrock tanked the hit and retaliated with its own stones. Hailey heard someone shout something. She wasn't entirely sure what she had yelled, but she got the message - it was time to leave. She turned to the other, now exposed, minior. "Killa, Ice Beam! We gotta leave!" She shouted above the commotion, recalling the Solrock back into its Pokeball. After hitting the minior, she recalled the Lunatone and made a mad dash towards the helicopter. She barely made it onto the metal contraption, taking a seat with her fellow guardians.

Cyrus, Ken, and Minato got to the Firebird with the rest of the Guardians, though he was actually surprised someone like Sineva was wanting to help them out. Then again, Lip must've given her an offer she couldn't refuse...or something like that.

"Come on, everyone on board! Hurry up!"

"Aye aye!" Cyrus said, looking at Ken and Minato. "Great job as usual guys...rest up for a while." he took out their PokéBalls and recalled them, preparing to enter the jet...however...

"Don't make me shoot!! I mean it, don't make me!"

"Wait a minute! You're Vega's boy, aren't you?"

"Weezing! Smokescreen!!"

It was obvious that while Lip's Weezing did a good job trying to obscure the guard's vision, it needed some help. Once more, Cyrus' sigil began to glow as he exhaled a bit. "And throw in a bit of a mist for you guys...have fun with that!" he chuckled, his mist mixing in with Weezing's Smokescreen.

Soon Lip got into the jet and they took off...they were home free. Though now the question was...

This is the dumbest idea he's had.

Cyrus leaned back in his chair, hearing Volcanion speak to him, before shrugging. Maybe, maybe not. Still, ya got to put yourself in his shoes. Lip is risking everything to find his father right now... he thought, looking out the window. Now imagine you and Magearna being in the same situation...you'd do the sa-

Leave Magearna out of this, Langdon. Volcanion snapped fiercely, which caused Cyrus to jump a bit.

Yeesh...alright, alright. Conversation dropped... Cyrus thought, shaking his head before looking over at the others. "So I guess I'll be the first one to break the ice then. We just successfully broke out of Aether International...so does that make us badasses right now or what?" he asked, chuckling with a smile. "Then again...more to the point...what are we exactly going to do when we get to Alola?"

The reality of what had just happened was starting to sink in. Lip had been prepared to shoot someone. Sensing her Guardian's rising anxiety, Mew became visible nudging her way in between Lip's folded arms. He briefly rubbed his nose against the top of her head, thankful for the familiar touch. In his mind, he had just assumed that the Guardians would leave Aether with little trouble and come back to get a slap on their wrists, but he wasn't so sure anymore. What would the Chancellor do with someone that nearly killed one of her guards?

Mew.

Lip shook his head, of course, he couldn't think about that right now. He had to be focused on getting his father back, that was priority number 1, consequences be damned.

"So I guess I'll be the first one to break the ice then. We just successfully broke out of Aether International...so does that make us badasses right now or what? Then again...more to the point...what are we exactly going to do when we get to Alola?"

Lip didn't feel like a badass, he felt like an insubordinate that had run off with half a plan. He thought it best not to voice those opinions, however. He had just convinced a group of people he barely knew to commit a pretty serious crime. He would have to keep it together.

"The mission specifics list that my father was headed to Ula'ula Island. He was supposed to be going to Malie City. So, that's where we are going." Lip said, trying to sound confident.

"Mew." Mew squeaked, reinforcing her Guardian's plan.

Berry couldn't handle these minior much longer, thankfully Hailey came in with her Lunatone and Solrock to help out in the fight.

"Oly oly oxen free!"

Lin looked to the sound Sineva's voice to see that the helicopter was taking off. "Oh no, Berry one more Hurricane!" With a whistle, Berry sent another Hurricane out at the flying Pokemon, halting their attack for a few moments. Without a second thought, Lin grabbed hold of her Oricorio and high tailed it onto the helicopter.

She took a seat in the vehical and allowed Berry to rest on her lap, the frail little Oricorio couldn't have taken another rock type attack. Lin was brushing her little bird Pokemon's feathers as she listened to Lip explain the plan.

"The mission specifics list that my father was headed to Ula'ula Island. He was supposed to be going to Malie City. So, that's where we are going." Ula'ula? Lin had never seen that island to her knowledge, though she really didn't get a chance to see all of Alola.

"Well... No turning back now, right?" she said in a bit of a nervous tone.

"Geez...I can't even think with all of this racket going on."  Right next to Quinn was a steadfast Wimpy, making sure his trainer would not be hit by any stray attacks.  These guards were ruthless...it was like they weren't allowed to leave ever.  But Quinn wasn't thinking about the more sinister intentions of this organization, more so what he was going to eat for lunch.  Hist stomach growled, but a voice even louder than his hunger broke the battlefield.

"Oly oly oxen free!"

"Oh shoot...what does that mean again?"  Wimpy shook his head in annoyance, and hiked his trainer over his shoulder.  He then hiked the two of them onto the Firebird.  The rest of the guardians eventually joined them as well.  Quinn waved as the Aethercorp International HQ became a small dot in the distant horizon.  "Aw man...I think they were serving uncrusted pb&j's today..."

Before Quinn could ask again what he was doing here, Lip was able to fill them all in.

"The mission specifics list that my father was headed to Ula'ula Island. He was supposed to be going to Malie City. So, that's where we are going."

"A rescue mission for your pops?  Well why didn't you say so earlier?"  He probably had, but Quinn is prone to spacing out at times.  "But it would be suck if the Aethercorp just started hunting us down.  Feeling like a rebel is kinda cool...but yikes man we're in for an ear chewing later!"  Quinn put a thumb up to his chest.  "And don't worry, I know all the islands of Alola...well....actually just the shore's...I've never been on the mainland...haha."  He felt queezy...but he would accompany his fellow friends on the mission.

Well the signal had been given, the Guardians were all on a helicopter bound for Alola, everything had gone pretty smoothly. Of course, way up here, in a flying metal box, River had no "signal" with her patron Legendary Pokémon. Not that she had any problem with that right now; communicating with Kyogre would be a lot easier once the group had landed in Alola.

"To Alola."

Oh really? I thought we were headed for Orre, River sarcastically remarked in her head.

"So I guess I'll be the first one to break the ice then. We just successfully broke out of Aether International...so does that make us badasses right now or what? Then again...more to the point...what are we exactly going to do when we get to Alola?"

"I'll be our guide then, since that one can't." As if who "that one" was needed more clarifying, River nodded her head in Quinn's direction. Then turning her head directly in Lip's direction, River added "But make no mistake Lip; I'm not here for you or anyone else. I wanted out of Aether Paradise as much as the next Guardian, and this was an easy way out." River probably would have preferred to escape alone, but sometimes one has to compromise in life. "That being said, since you're already telling us all what to do, what's the plan when we actually get there? You do have one, right?"

Aether International - Rooftops

"NO!!" the guard called out as his Mightyena was defeated, and with a grimace, he held out a Poke Ball, "Mightyena, return,"

As a red beam came to collect the fallen Pokemon, the guard had reached for another Poke Ball that he'd had on his belt. Normally Garrett would eagerly await the arrival of the next Pokemon, but he knew for a fact that he wouldn't be able to commence battle for much longer. Sineva's sudden call didn't exactly help matters at all...

'sheet! We don't have time for this...' Garrett looked back momentarily, checking how far away he was from the Firebird as it got ready to depart, but doubted he could bolt the distance. And with a guard and possibly any type of fast Pokemon on his tail, matters would only be made worse. He turned to Tapu Bulu.

"What do you want to do?" the Land Spirit Pokemon asked.

"Go with Graves. I'll follow your lead... slowly," nodding in acknowledgement, Tapu Bulu headed off, while Garrett took his time to climb over a ledge or two in the way, aiming to inch just that little bit closer to the Firebird without the guard getting any suspicions. Unfortunately, the guard remained vigilant.

"Hey! Where do you think you're going?!" he called out as he detached his other Poke Ball.

"You might wanna start backing up as well," Garrett replied, "This next fight's gonna be explosive,"

"Oh yeah? We'll just have to see about that," with that, the guard throw his Poke Ball, "Arcanine, come on out!"

(OOC Notes: Battle will be edited in later, as will be the method of Garrett's escape. But I'ma have to skip this part for now since time constraints :/)

Eventually, the Firebird ascended into the sky with everyone on it, and Lip had stated that they were headed to Ula'ula Island. That was all well and good, besides the fact that Tapu Bulu would be dismayed that he wouldn't get the chance to go to the Mahalo Trail, but rather than participate in the discussion that was taking place, Garrett was primarily focused on trying to heal Orion while they were still in mid-flight. He pressed the Nest Ball on his belt on purpose, and Orion consequently emerged on a spare space. However, he'd hunched over in evident physical pain, and hissed in a tone of discomfort as sparks crackled from his legs.

"Hang in there, Orion," Garrett said calmly as he scoured inside his backpack for medicinal items, first pulling out what looked to be a pink spray-bottle of some kind and setting it aside before commencing his search for a certain something specific, "Damn it... I could've sworn I had a spare Paralyze Heal to go with that Hyper Potion; where in Yveltal's domain would it have gone?"

He continued to rummage through the backpack, but so far, it was to no avail...
