[spoiler=General thoughts]

Speaking about the moderator team as a whole (self included), yeah, we are rather disjointed about trying to approach decisions and get standards in place that would cut down on the amount of misbehavior that goes on.

Basically, some of us fail to show up for discussions (even when they're online) and thus, it puts a larger strain on the remaining moderators who do contribute to the discussions. Yes, all of us are busy with our own lives (work, academics, family/RL and so forth) and we may only be able to come for a short period, but at the very least, just say something and contribute to the discussion.

(I'd like to make clear that I have been actively participating in all of the moderator discussions as they come up; least on the forum.)

We should have a more unified consensus so that whatever happened in terms of the new rules back then (being badly written, and approved only by a few mods) doesn't happen again. However, it also doesn't help if some of us who have the time to come online abstain from participation in the discussions, but later chew the rest of us out for making bad decisions.

(You had every opportunity to speak up; why did you not bother to weigh in before things boiled over?)

====

In terms of active things, we are revising the site rules like Polaris noted a couple months ago (because yeah, a few of them are outdated and/or require clarification to be in line with newer policies). We didn't forget about them, but again, it's difficult to get the rest of us to reply.

(At the time of this post, only about 3 of us even said anything about the rules; self included b/c I drew up the rough draft of what we should be doing]; under the assumption that the rest of us have at least LOOKED at it.)

If you all would like to know what we're going for, the new rules will be patterned on that other suggestion thread while also factoring in other discussions that we've had about particular matters over the past year. This will include the new warn/ban policy and the discussions concerning permissible content on YCM.

(And yes Winter, I did bring up the topic color thing with the other staff members, but no response thus far.)

====

Right now, a lot of decisions are indeed made by individual moderators (or a small group thereof), due to the inability to get everyone together and the need to act fast (this includes forum policies, and yes, sanctions for particular members). I do not wish to call out specific moderators, nor suggest that they are not contributing adequately to discussions.

Aside from evilfusion, the rest of us are on that separate mod channel on Discord, but it hasn't been used lately. As for the YCM one, only a handful of us are there and even then, we might miss any flare ups that arise there. In the context of that incident last week, I was NOT online at the time it occurred and a punishment was handed down.

I didn't want to write a text wall, but yeah, I'm acknowledging that we really should've done more to reach better decisions in the past, and that we need to actually work together to come up with common standards for YCM as a whole going into the future.

Jesus, I wrote that years ago. Like, when I was in high school. Probably earlier.

Since then, Mare confessed that he was SD Dueler, writing my name was bannable, and a whole lot of other nonsense happened. Goodness gracious.

Couldn't you have been original, though?

No, what happened to you has been happening a ton with an overzealous mod team focused on a punative agenda over rehabilitation. There's been martial law on this site ever since Koko implimented her sex sandard rules. And people have been run off the site, banned, or unfairly persecuted

The only person who left the site, to my knowledge, was Jord. And that has its own set of issues.

Draco requested this to be removed, so just giving you a heads-up, that unless he says otherwise when I get back, I will be =T

Not trying to quash your posts or opinions, or I'd have done it outright.

Raeg? Laz? Kinka? Cirrus? Snatch? There have been a fair number black. I've explained the idea to this behind this thread to Draco, if he still feels the the way you suggested, do remove it

*shrugs*

Sakura assuring me that y'all are doing something is heartening; I just hope the rest of the mod team can follow sakura's lead

Raeg left due to klav/you. Laz left due to the mods not letting him act out, because he was "right" and you were "wrong@. Kinks is still here. Snatch left for personal reasons and still pops up on the discord. Who the funk is cirrus.

What? Raeg left wayyyyyyyyy after Klav was banned. It was immediately precipitated by a 7-point warning from Roxas after Enguin reported him as a joke.

...Thar, Armz, CowCow...

Actually, you're not wrong. Raeg initially left due to Klav. That said, he's, y'know, still around.

Two ragequits and Cowcow is still here...

People leave. It happens. It's not unexpected. It's not the fault of the team, the members, or anyone, solely.

Cowcow is still around and should still be around until his ties into the forum ends up getting severed somehow, Thar is banned, Armz had a breakdown.

Raeg left after Klav but got convinced to return again, but left again later on when the election season is all the rage. Actually not Winter-specific, he just don't like the site's atmosphere from then on.

As someone who's actually been told why Raeg left by Raeg, it's because P O L I T I C S A R E T O O M U C H F U N. Well, it might've been more of a drama thing, but it's in that ballpark. He might've left for a while because of the whole Klav thing, I don't remember, so we may be talking about two different events.

Has the guy actually requested the excerpt to be removed? In this thread at least he only implied it was a bit embarrassing to see that again or something like that.

We got a report about it asking for it to please be removed. He also was spammed with it, but that's another matter.

Man that was ages ago.  Before I even joined this site.

Black you gave me multiple warning points for a mild dick joke when people have Avis with f***ing tits hanging out. Keep at that kinda modding and see how it fares for attracting people to YCM

Alternatively you can be tone deaf and trigger happy like other mods and throw out 7 and 5 wps

This is probably not an effective way to persuade them to come around to your side.

Agreed, but the fact they've turned a blind eye to the report abuse in general till the very end has costed us Users. It took General hitting piss bottom before they even hired a reform mod in Dad.

The mod teams moves at glacial pace and has no real standards

It goes both way.

Does it now? When hina or pol go on a rampage. The other two of us stay back instead of joining the blitz. Also, care to go on record and affirm that the report abuse cuts both ways?

By my recollection, I've reported fewer than 10 posts in the last 6 months becuase throwing mods at personal disagreements only results in WP abuse. And most of them were spam, not triggerings

If people on the right are doing it. It's wrong. And shouldn't validate the left

That's fine, but like, if you want to be persuasive, you have to go about your rhetoric in a certain way. Pissing them off won't convince them to change, even if your criticism is entirely correct.
