VB19-JP002 RR-レヴォリューション・ファルコン-エアレイド Raidraptor – Revolution Falcon – Airraid

Rank 6 DARK Winged Beast-Type Xyz Effect Monster

ATK 2000

DEF 3000

Xyz Materials: 3 Level 6 Winged Beast-Type monsters

You can also Xyz Summon this card by discarding 1 “Rank-Up-Magic” Spell Card, then using a Rank 5 or lower “Raidraptor” Monster you control as the Xyz Material.

(1) If this card is Xyz Summoned: You can target 1 monster your opponent controls; destroy that monster, and if you do, inflict damage to your opponent equal to its ATK.

(2) If this card is destroyed by your opponent (by battle or by card effect) and sent to the Graveyard: You can Special Summon 1 “Raidraptor – Revolution Falcon” from your Extra Deck, and if you do, attach this card to it as Xyz Material.

From the same "set" as the new Number F0.

So it's basically the anime effect of Revolution Falcon as originally, but full damage, and the same float effect as Arsenal Falcon. Sure, why not.

I fail to see why one would summon this instead of the original one right away ... it is a somewhat cute play, however RR have a tight Extra Deck anyways and I sincerely doubt this does enough to be worth a spot.

Because Strix + any dead RUM in hand is a free Volca.

Why would you play any such RUM ? As for those which are not dead ... etranger and revolution exist.

Edit: I have to admit I totally forgot Soul Shave Force, which actually gets a lot better with this card ... and opening airraid is more defensive than anything else (except arsenal and/or ultimate, though these are far less common).

Yeah, I'm...not quite sure what this is good for.

It's not BAD, not at all.

It's just...superfluous. It's more or less identical to Revolution Falcon, and can be Summoned by ditching any RUM (which COULD have its uses) and using a Rank 5 or lower RR. In exchange, you can blast a monster for its full ATK as damage, and if this dies, you can bring out the original Revolution Falcon with this as Material.

But...ultimately, regular Revolution is better, because it can attack all your opponents' monsters, plus has the "reduce ATK/DEF by 0" effect. And Etranger already does the "full ATK as damage" effect, and is a Rank 5, so even ditching one of the "Rank Up by 1" RUMs with Force Strix seems a little weird.

Actually...the fact this doesn't have the "reduce to 0" effect makes this REALLY mediocre.

Not better than OG Rev, but the fact that it FLOATS into OG Rev is more than enough to warrant a use.

Can bait out strikes/negation (which in that case you can just float immedately).

Can we just increase the ED space to 20 pls and semi limit rat and limit triangle so Zodiacs can't abuse it lmao.

The thing is...I'd still probably run a copy of this, despite not caring much for it. My RR Deck rarely ever goes into a non-RR Rank 4, so it technically does have the space. And...for some reason I run 2 Ultimate Falcon...but almost never bring out my one copy of Satellite. I'm guessing that Ultimate was super cheap, and Satellite was uber expensive, because I can't figure out my logic.

I quite like this simply because ramming it on your turn into something lets it go into OG Revolution Falcon still during the battle phase and you can use OG Revolution's Volca effect during MP2. The combination of this and OG Revolution can potentially win games depending on your opponent's field.

It's situational when you shpuld go into it but by no means bad purely because of the float imo.

This also helps out Rank 3 RR variants if there is anyone that actually runs the Fiend Eagle build.

^the R3 build isn't even funny as a joke deck. BW can drop the R3 faster than RR can.

as for this baby, as far as i'm concerned, i run 2 copies of the R6 anyways, so swapping one out for this is rather simple.

as for those of you who can't understand what makes this baby beautiful, well, when you're playing raidraptors, you don't always have enough rank ups (or the right rank ups) to do what you want, when you want, and that's where this baby comes in, the sheer ease of summoning it makes it a prime choice for a slot alongside it's rank 6 bird brethren.

this monster, while not as strong as revolution on it's own, adds quite a bit to your own defensive options, should your opponent activate a card to destroy your rank 5 or rank 7 bird, previously, there would be little you could do on a creative front, but with this monster's advent, should you be in possession of a quickplay rank-up, or simply have an arsenal falcon, your defense and your offense are all now accessible to you through a simple effect activation. your attack with the R5 goes through? turn it into a r6, and continue beating for the revolution, your opponent nukes field? airraid falcon is now a prime alternative to an ultimate falcon (who can be beaten over, and is often unaffected by any support you may have backed up for your other birds), adding an additional layer to your potential responses. you can use force strix to search, and now, instead of having to end your turn sitting on a rank 4, or the rank 5, who is admirable in his own right, you can now place a more respectable wall between yourself and your opponent should you find yourself unable to end the duel on that particular turn. aside from the obvious walling, you also have a prime tool to destroy your opponents monster with upon summon, and while revolution falcon can do that all on it's own, this beauty here, as mentioned prior, can not only force further response, if there is no response to be found, it can proceed to blow up an opponent's monster, which is impressive in it's own right.  in addition, unlike revolution base, this baby inflicts the full damage, meaning stronger monsters are now prime targets for destruction via your mechanically feathered fury.

next comes a minor nitpick that i'm quite sure that many of you may have already noticed, this card has clearly missed potential, for it has literally no detach effect. in other words, you can do nothing with him, post summon, and prior to destruction. revolution falcon, is the clear winner in overall power, on practically all fronts.

in short, while this new bird is far from the powerhouse that bird lovers would like it to be, and ED space is indeed getting rather too packed for a bird lover's liking, it adds a new dimension of play to the defensive extra deck combos, and it makes the new R7, and even lower R4 plays, into far more formidable barriers than they normally would be, by way of creating an additional barrier that your opponent will need to break through to get at your rich, creamy life points.

7.5/10, it misses out on a lot of potential y you no have detatch effect, but it provides just enough use overall to make it worth a single slot in the ED
