Public Relations Moderator to be Announced

Dad

Recommended Posts

My capricious nature/part of my personality where I just do things for my enjoyment are both done utterly consciously and I have no issue or hesitance doing anything from toning them down to totally obliterating them while I would play the role of a moderator. I have a very strong sense of duty and responsibility and would be vicious in my path to excellence (in both approachability and proactivity).

Plus, there is the bonus that I got to say that I had X-rated relations with a mod. That is my favorite part of the possibility with you becoming mod.

well, in light of pol and denver stepping down from the power position, i swap those with tenta and hina. tenta having already been explained, and hina being rather similar in type to pol so far as being well balanced. from what i've seen. she's definitely whimsical, and blacks 'claim of hard to approach is not completely without grounds, considering hina's among the more confusing members on this site, (short responses more often than not, rather concise wording, and oftentimes so diect that the point can fly over the heads of the people she's discussing topics with) but i think she'd be a rather good balance to the mod seats. not completely sure where her positions lie as far as forum decorum go, but they seem similar to pols whenever i glimpse them. she doesn't type much, and that does need working on, but i think aside from that, she'd be among the more fun contestants.

for those wondering, yes, i watch most people in debates, just to find out how they work. it's fun guessing what kind of people the people who participate in debates are.

but where pol is concerned, would it actually be possible to give him the position, but not the powers? like an exclusive group, not junior mod, closer to an official title than a mod position?

also, what happened to winter? i heard nothing about him deserving a ban as of late.

My concerns with you mostly boils down to your very... capricious nature. I don't think you'd do a bad job in a moderating position (which is honestly how I feel about a number of the candidates), but I don't think a PR position with the intent of people seriously coming to you works out, with how non-seriously you treat everything/seem to do for your enjoyment.

I think you genuinely care, but I don't think you're approachable.

I assume your thoughts are generally the same with me, as a result of my cold robot heart?

Similarish, but not the same.

I'm not counting "General Heinous", but you do lack a sort of relatability that people would need to approach you.

I do see how I may be perceived as such. Though if that is indeed anyone's concern, be assured that I am far more relatable and approachable when specifically helping people, or in private.

Naturally though, if not voting for myself, my support for CowCow still stands.

Not to rush or put on any pressure, as a decision such as this obviously requires considerable thought and discussion amongst people across multiple time zones, but when can we expect the chosen member(s) to be announced?

I'm curious just how long I can keep this delusion of mine going.

Dad just asked the same thing in the Mod Forum. My personal opinion is to wait for 1-2 mods to weigh in, because we have 7/12, and hearing from just a little more could help us finish refining.

If I had a guess, between a day or two and a week? Preferably towards the former.

If you want my opinion on you as a PR Moderator, I'd gladly give it, because it's not really anything bad about you.

I also reject your reasoning on Hina black. She's a straight shooter. There's not many other people, (other than you), that have objectively trashed both the Roxas peeps and the Winter peeps

She's unequivocally qualified for the role and will be a fair and just person

I don't think roasting people is qualification for a position as a moderator, let alone one assigned to PR.

And sure, black.

I'd be fine with either of these:

Fusion: He's one of the most level-headed members I've seen at YCM throughout the years. He strikes me as somebody not easily swept by public consensus on topics. My only worry is I don't personally see Fusion around a lot so I don't actually know how active he is.

Giga: I support the above post nominating him, he is overall a very cool member. I think he's very eloquent and can be vocal when he needs to, among other things...

Cow: Cow is one of the friendliest members out there IMO, and probably the only nominee in this list I actually have chatted with more.

Birdie: Because she seems like the most enthusiastic one about the subject. That alone makes it worth giving it a shot. I have a few kind of concerns... Most already addressed somewhere in the thread although I didn't read everything in detail (so I could come write my post)... but still, again, worth a shot and she'd have my support too.

^In addition to my previous post, I wanna clarify that other candidates tossed around in the thread I didn't mention I by default have bigger issues on the idea of them being leaders.

Particularly, Polaris is a rather sketchy suggestion IMO, and I am not around as often as I would like to be, but the few times I bump into Hina's post she's jumping in to correct somebody on some nitpick or roleplaying her character "for amusement". That's a failure in the "approachable" department, although again, just my personal experience from recent memory talking, and what do I know?

- - -

On CowCow having a past, this is my first time hearing about it but people grow and mature all the time. If it's just something long past, I'd still give it a chance.

Giga and Fusion are still my top personal candidates, but Cow and Birdie are also pretty cool.

Again, Birdie seems to have a lot of passion put behind the idea of this project so would love to see what she does.

I don't think roasting people is qualification for a position as a moderator, let alone one assigned to PR.

And sure, black.

I think you are actually decently well suited to a moderator role. You have some latent rage, which can really show when the job gets tough, but I think that, overall, you'd do a great job.

... I just don't think you're the pick here.

You're not the most approved member, though also not extremely polarizing overall, you have a solid temperament with dips when annoyed, and you show some paranoia, such as earlier in this thread, and I'm a little worried about your approachability... But I believe you would do a decent enough job, even so.

So why do I not think you fit here?

The issue is that you would be more of the same. If we wanted someone with those qualifications, I'd fit the bill perfectly. Weaknesses included.

The member(s) that end up promoted should be people who bring new energy, warmth to the team, if only in the sense that they're approachable and trusted, though more would be nice. I'd like to think I'm doing a fine job, but I'm certainly not some shining light on the team, I'm someone trying to fix things as needed, and I still make mistakes that a PR mod shouldn't.

And I truly feel that you would be walking in those footsteps, intentionally or not, if you got this role. Or any role, really, but that sort of temperament is more suited to the other roles, like managing and maintaining a section or trying to work on the team/rules. Trying to keep them from getting out of line, if only in your eyes.

So if a position comes up that you're fit for, you'll probably have my vote. I just think that now is not the time.

Well if we can pick up what Black thinks of each person who's been nominated as a potential PR mod, I'd love to hear thoughts as well, positive or otherwise.
You are... one of my prefferred choices.

I think you could bring a spark to the team, you get along well with others, and you're a face that always seems to be around, trying to brighten days. I think you'd be perfectly approachable, and while IDK if you'd be hard on the team when it's needed, I think you'd do very well as a member liaison, so to speak.

However, my initial fear with you was that you've been known to have issues dealing with drama in the past. I was hoping this was no longer the case, so I put my approval in, but I've heard that you still do have issues with it, which is why you've gotten so good at avoiding it. I'm open to hearing what you have to say about such, but, loath as I am to admit it... That's... not a trait we really want in a moderator, much less a PR Moderator.

So, is there validity to this claim?

You need to be willing to call a spade a spade

Most of the noms so far are either Roxas or Winter loyalist

Neither of which is gonna heal the mod divide

This post is the only one I will make about you and I, because I do not want to derail this thread.

I do like some of the nominations, but I do not believe that any of the nominations can be described as inherently loyal to either of us. The nominations are not part of any "Roxas vs Winter" competition, and I believe that everyone has been able to make a case for themselves or their nominations without involving either of us. I am not interested in a moderator who would be my puppet, and I don't expect that to happen anyway. All candidates are to be judged on their own merits. Please do not continue to make this thread about our personal feud.

I don't think I missed it, so thoughts on Polaris?

Fine, it doesn't have to be so. There are clearly two separate teams operating in debates atm. We should pick someone who is willing to call both teams out on their sheet. Yui fits that to a degree. Giga and Cowcow do not

Fusion's comments have also made me feel a lot more assured about his stance. They've "been able to make a case" since nobody drudged up their past activities

Basically, I'd prefer someone who has stayed above the fray, but if that's not possible, been evenhanded in their involvement. Obv Birdie is the best pick if this is true, but there's the other mod to be chosen

Oh black's giving his opinions now? Notice me senpai!

Quack

Hrm... I'm still undecided.

I don't dislike you as a choice, but I'm unsure.

One is that I'm not sure if you're approachable. I don't know you well enough to glean that.

The other is your activity, which is a major reason why Kate was never chosen, despite being one of the higher ranking candidates (wasn't a mod then, but).

You come and go fairly often. Sure, you've stayed longer this time, but I worry that you would up and disappear, which is a problem that we don't want to run into.

I can't say for certain, but at the same time I feel like I'd be lying if I said there wasn't any validity to the claim. So I'm going to say yes, there most likely is. The only "defense" I have against this is kinda weak: I hang out mostly in RP, so pretty much all of the drama I deal with is among its members - most all of whom I consider good friends - and the infighting among them I'll admit is pretty distressing for me because omg I like both of you whose side do I pick. With that sort of context, if drama were to stir up in a section like CC or Debates where I know basically nobody on the same level as the RP crew, I probably wouldn't mind having to get my hands a bit dirty if the job demanded it. It's probably a problem, but it's one I wouldn't at all mind trying to improve upon.

For what it's worth, I think you misjudge my character.

I think that one of the biggest differences between you and I is, in fact, my sociability. While you tend to keep to yourself and those close you (nothing wrong with that, for the record) I branch out. A ton. I know this forum, I know the people on it, and they know me. Some may not be the biggest fans of me, but the more I look at it the better I realize my public image is.

I have proven myself to be eloquent on multiple occasions, and have shown that I have a vested interest in both how the forum works and how to improve it. And when I saw this thread, I knew this was something I could do. Talking to people is my favorite thing. It is what I am good at. Not to mention my constant desire to help people. You can ask tons of people on this site, I work my ass off so that people can be content. The opportunity to function as a communicator while also helping people with their specific needs is the best role I can imagine for myself.

I have a habit of selling myself short in what really counts (while sarcastically bragging in what doesn't), especially recently. Even so, I can say that, by qualification alone, I am the optimal candidate for this job. There are others here who definitely could do good in this position, but I am absolutely certain that I can go above and beyond.

Put me in, coach.

(not to mention I'm tied for most votes in here)

I don't plan on going anywhere any time soon, barring unforseeable circumstances. You have my word on that.

And if you're unsure because you don't know me as a person well enough, ask those who do. I'm well aquainted with Nai, Dad, and to a lesser degree Aix. I can't say if those moderators will voich for me, but between the three you can definitely get a good picture of how I act on and off-site. I'd say i'm very approachable, but i'm obviously a biased source.

I'm vouching for you. I think you're pretty relaxed, so temperament would not be an issue, and it would make you very approachable. I'd trust you to handle things fairly.

I don't mean you're the exact same as me.

I'm not nearly as asocial as I used to be, which people on the discord/Status Bar can probably attest. Sure, it's mostly shitposting, but I try to make people smirk with stupid sheet.

But where I have people who are largely neutral with a leaning one way or the other on me, you have people who outright despise you, along with those who love. I know people from both sides. I'm not comfortable saying you should be the PR Mod, knowing such, and it's not just due to grudges some of them have.

My points were meant to say that I think you'd fall into a similar role, especially considering I've been acting as an interim/de facto PR Mod for the sake of keeping you guys in the loop more. I'm not doing a perfect job, and I believe newer, brighter people are more suited, and I don't see you being much to different from me, eloquence or not.

I'm not alone in such, either. It's a real concern that you'd just be bringing in more of what we have, where someone like Yui shines bright.

I don't plan on going anywhere any time soon, barring unforseeable circumstances. You have my word on that.

I've gotten an iffy report along with a good report from the team. I'm not opposed, but I'm not yet swayed. I will say I'm not exactly opposed.
