Smear Posted January 31, 2017 Report Share Posted January 31, 2017 A discussion and poll which raised up certain issues regarding the naming of Anime & Manga which excludes certain works of media (such as western animation and comics), has brought us to the decision to go for turning Anime & Manga into Animation & Graphic Novels. Roxas and I (being the mods for the mentioned section) believe it is best to do this. Although we want to hear your opinion on the matter before we make a final decision. The major issue is that this leaves Movies & TV Shows less active, considering the Animation portion of the section will be moved to Animation & Graphic Novels. What we think is best to do, is to merge Literature into Movies & TV Shows, to create a section for all three. The current name for the merged sections, pitched by Roxas, is Film & Literature which suits nicely. Merging the two sections helps by taking the activity from the Literature section and replacing it with what is lost from the Animation portion of the section. ----- If you have any concerns about the names of either section, or the merging of Literature and Movies & TV Shows please post in this thread. Books and movie adaptations go hand in hand already and it doesn't really make sense for Literature to have its own section anymore anyways. I support. Phantom Roxas Posted January 31, 2017 Report Share Posted January 31, 2017 I've been very supportive of Animation & Graphic Novels, and Film & Literature would be a wonderful counterpart to that. I'm also interested in suggestions for other names for Film & Literature. Ideally the title should be in the format of "____ & Literature", since there's no reason to change the name for Literature, but I do want a single name. Alternatives would be too wordy for the sake of wordiness. In turn, having it and Animation and Graphic Novels become the two main forums for discussing those topics gets my full support. I think it might be a good idea to add that you can discuss TV shows within the F&L forum description as well in case people think there isn't a specific place to talk about live-action shows. Yup, the goal is to make the forums be the main sources of discussion. While I think Film & Literature does sound like it could be just putting the remnants of what's left together, I'm hoping that it will be a section in its own right. Film & Literature should work. Agreed. The description will probably just be combining the descriptions of Movies & TV Shows and Literature. "Discuss anything related to movies, television, books, and other forms of literature."
