Old Inactive Members

So I was just looking through the members tab at all the members this site has. Thinking about it, all old inactive accounts should be removed (This is just a suggestion and I'm sure it has been brought up before). This would allow usernames that other people want to become available. Of course, certain criteria would need to be put into place when going through the accounts but it would help clean up the community and make it look a lot more active!!

What are everyone's thoughts on this??

You can PM a mod to ask him/her if they can change an old user's name so that you can use the one you want.

Deleting random old accounts seems like more trouble than what's worth.

Yeah, you can always PM us for a username that you want, but an inactive member has. It's happened in the past, both for monster accounts and really old accounts that never logged on since the MyBB days.

Unless it's a spambot, members won't be deleted because there is the chance that they wish to return (it has only happened a select few times, but yeah). Even if we did delete accounts (why?), only the Supers have that capacity.

It's unlikely people would've wanted your name anyway (that, and you do have a good number of posts to your name). The issue would lie in a lot of those members who just register, take a name and ultimately just use the cardmaker and never post; ones with zero post count; in which a lot of them exist.

Probably made it because they wanted to make/save cards here, but then either said "screw this site" after a while after they found out the flaws or some other factors. We can't force members to actually post here, but yeah.

Bottom-line, if you want a username that a really inactive member like this has, you can ask us to change it; not like that member would miss having their name. We just won't do it if it belongs to a veteran who's been gone for a while.
