For yugioh fanfics, what do people think of plot related cards from one series [eg numbers for zexal] being used by an OC in different series

Another example of plot related cards would be the signer dragons. I want to know if either of those appearing as non-supernatural cards in an arc-v fic for the purpose of deck building would turn off readers. The cards would have their TCG errata especially in the case of number monsters.

Since some of the deck lists used would benefit from not having to re-invent the extra deck staple wheel.

I am writing a spinoff 5Ds fic that does use some of the original Signer Dragons (well, Stardust/RDA in particular) and even the Duel Dragon version of Black Rose as generic staples; well, Ruka/Luna appears there also, so Ancient Fairy exists + that's hers.

 

(So yeah, I already do this, so not bothered by those types of cards being used in other people's fics.)

 

Other people, however, may object though (whether/not you use the TCG version or original), but I can't speak for them.

i don't see a problem with using them as generic cards anyone can use if that's what you're asking

 

in fact, i think one of the completed fanfics here had the protag use blade armor at one point

I personally tend to reskin things. My current story (in the works) has alternate versions of real archetypes like Resonators, Frightfur and Performapals, and if I want to use a Number monster, I cut off the "Number" part and turn it into a generic card, like Volcasaurus or Terror-Byte.
