Some of the Amonkhet box arts were already revealed yesterday/day before, but there hasn't been a topic for them yet, so in the interest of totality, I've included them here.

To be honest, when your pack arts are for cards presently less than the MSRP of a single pack, it's hard to have high hopes. Though there's speculation that the box art is new Snapcaster art.

 

[spoiler=Amonkhet Packaging + Planeswalker Deck Artworks only]

 

Two of the pack arts are identical to those shown with Hour of Devastation pack arts and, more importantly, pack arts for an unannounced plane called Atlazan, which would seem to lend credibility to the plane's existence, though changes may still occur, and it may not be the next block. Boxes we've already seen, but the planeswalkers from the PW decks are of course new. Liliana looks as happy as one would expect on a plane where mummies will likely be fairly common.

 

[spoiler=Most important part: Amonkhet WILL have Full Art Basics]

 

They will appear in approximately 1/4 of booster packs, and will be available in "other products". Presumably/hopefully bundles.

 

I for one am exceptionally hyped for these, though the Island is not my favorite.

 

[spoiler=Archenemy: Nicol Bolas Box Art]

 

Not much to say here. Seems to imply the Planeswalkers included will be Gideon, Chandra, and Nissa, and naturally Nicol Bolas. Important to keep in mind that while none of the cards in the set will be new, except for the schemes, they can very well be from Amonkhet, as this releases in June, after Amonkhet.

The last five are likely the five Gods, though to me, the last one seems off; as he's standing beside something noticeably bigger than him, while the others are clearly owning their space. Perhaps that's just me, though.

 

Also, does anyone else thing Liliana looks a little too lavish here? Will she abandon the Gatewatch so soon? That seems unlikely, but I can't help but wonder seeing how comfortable she is.

Those gods (or at least some of them) are absolutely done by Pete mohrbacher. Looks straight out of angelarium. Consider me hyped.

The Gideon and Lili art both look sweet.

 

Getting more full art lands is really sweet. Not sure how I feel about the Bolas horns in them though. Don't think I'm a fan.

 

The art preview is pretty sweet. Lili's face throws me since it looks SUPER realistic. The gods look really cool.

I just noticed, and I feel like it may be relevant (ill explain why in a moment) but in the basics, the sun is in very nearly if not the exact same spot.

 

We can imagine that the horns heights and locations were designed such that the sun could be in the center like Bolas' own Gem of Becoming. But, all of these arts showing the sun in the same spot, but not that spot, makes me think that something special happens when the sun is positioned just right. Perhaps... An hour of devastation...

I've seen other people make that observation so you're likely onto something with it.

 

 

Also, while the Bolas horns do make me not like these full arts as much I will say that they did an amazing job picking these for the full art. Having only 1 of the 4 lands be full art makes them stand out a ton and having it showcase one of the most important aspects of the plane (Bolas' control over it) does a great job setting things up for his big reveal (which I think will happen in Hour).

The fact that it's forgotten is further example of how poorly they're promoting the format they claim to not be killing.

I think people's claim that wizard's is killing Modern is super over blown, but having a bulk rare be one of the face cards for the set is SUPER dumb. My guess is they went with her because the art is cool and the set might have more of a tri-color theme than MM sets of the past, but they could have done that with a much better card.
