I woke up on a wooden bench in a green jacket, Joggers, and dirty sandals. My head ached and my knees throbbed as I pushed myself up off the chair. My vision was blurry but I could tell there was a light green statue in front of me surrounded by water. The details were slim but I could see a sidewalk with bushes to my left and right. The ground was grey and had a pattern I couldn't make out. As I walked down the walkway I fell down a few times feeling the hard concrete surface under me. I couldn't see the look on people's faces, but I could tell they were frightened, I could almost sense it. Barely keeping myself up, I finally reached the end of the walkway. The surface changed colors and was now black with yellow lines. This landscape seemed familiar but I couldn't remember anything up to this point. I could only do basic things like walk, talk, and breathe for a while.

When my vision finally restored I could see giant bunches of people walking back and forth along the grey pavement. They were keeping away from the moving vehicles and so did I. Although, I didn't know what they were, I could tell they were dangerous. Some looked unique and caught my attention. Others, looked broken down and also made me notice them. I saw many tall landscapes with quite a bit of windows. The buildings reflected the sunlight into my eyes a few times but I kept moving. Sometimes, they'd block the sun to my avail. I got hungrier as time passed. Searching for food, I visited the small buildings I saw to my left and right. The buildings formed straight lines on both of my sides that would continue until the main foundation formed a large square. One of them with a window labeled Buy One Get One Free! Mario's Pizza! caught my attention instantly. Its window even had a picture of a nice, juicy, warm pizza.

"Hello! May I take your order?" A woman greeted me as I walked in. "I'd suggest the large pepperoni DEEP DEEP Dish, Chicago style!" She said with emphasis.

"Sure, give me that please." I replied not knowing anything they sold here, or even what a DEEP DEEP Dish, Chicago style meant.

"Comin' right up! 1 Double D Chicago Style!" She yelled to someone behind the counter. "Please, have a seat."

I looked around at the many booth seats they had. Some along window, some along the wall, and some had their very own little corner that was circle shaped. I squinted at the sun trying to focus on its shape. After looking at the sun shine brightly for quite a bit of time, the blurriness in my eyes came back. I guessed it was looking at the sun too long so I ceased to do so. The woman brought me my food and I began to eat it. The plate's contents were 3 sizable pizzas with a cup of water on the side.

I examined my food and began to tear it into pieces, slowly chewing the smalls bits. After smelling it and pouring some of my water on it, I was given some strange looks by onlookers. Others laughed, the employees ignored it, and some looked at me as if I was insane. I couldn't just tell them I magically appeared on a bench with a major case of short-term memory.

When I finished my food I walked out the restaurant when a female employee stopped me in my tracks. "You have to pay for that..." She said.

"W-wait, I had to pay money?" I asked in shock.

"Yes, $13.45 to be exact." She replied holding out her hand as if she expected me to give her something.

I felt trapped in a corner. What could they do to me if I couldn't pay, I didn't want to be in debt to this restaurant. Especially when I didn't know what money was.

"That'll be fine," A man in a dark suit said walking towards me. The man gently smiled, tipping his hat and revealing his white hair, with a bald spot in the middle. "I'll pay for it, How much was it Makato?"

This man seemed suspicious. A leather coat, black pants, but a gentle voice. A calm and collected tone. His aura complimented by his black STACY ADAMS. Inside of his coat, he had a vest on with a bow tie. I got this weird feeling from him, this aura I didn't want to be around. I almost felt like I hated him, but I didn't even know him.

After hearing him say Makato, my head spun. My body fell into a black void. A bottomless pit where I just kept falling. My body felt worse than it did when I woke up on the bench. Illusions of myself surrounded me. The details were strikingly similar. The blonde hair, the mixed skin, the brown eyes. They marched towards me, clearly unhappy; then they vanished into plain sight as I plummeted to my death. The farther I fell, the more pressure I began to feel on my body. Almost like I was squeezing in on myself and becoming a rock. Soon enough my ears began to ring louder and louder. My head pounded hard and I couldn't feel my legs. They were unbelievably numb. I looked to the bottom and saw what awaited me; sharp spikes and an unidentifiable figure waiting for me to fall into their arms.

When I awoke, my head still pounded furiously. I couldn't gather my thoughts. "Makato. Makato. Makato. Makato." kept replaying in my head, blocking out any other sounds. In that instant, I couldn't hear anything, see anything, of even feel the floor I was touching. Everything was shaking, my body felt heavy. I couldn't stand up. The pain was frustrating, I wanted the moment to end but it felt like it lasted forever. The more I struggled, the more pressure I felt on my body. It felt as if I was being crushed, stepped on, pulverized.

"Hey! Makato!" The man called out to me. Hearing him call my name again made me come back to my senses. "Sonny, are you ok?"

"How do you know who I am?" I replied with a deep glare, still suffering from my headache. The lady watched as we stared each other down. "How do you know, when I don't."

The man looked as if he was holding back a laugh. "It'll all be explained. I'll pay for your food, but I want you to come with me."

I studied his body. His calm nature, his gentle smile, his body composure. "No, I wouldn't just follow random guys I meet on unfamiliar streets; Who somehow know my name.."

The man grinned and held out his hand. "I'll tell you everything outside." He said walking out the shop. Searching for an answer, I follow this man. I wanted to find this missing hole in my heart, I could tell something important was missing. The man lead to me to a back alley. I stayed alert and on guard, checking my surroundings with every step. The alley smelled horrible, the walls were stained in green and black. I could tell there were a few street fights recently as I saw fresh blood stains on the floor.

He rested his hand on one of the many bricks on the wall. A section of the wall opened and revealed a white staircase, surrounded by white all around. I take a deep breath and walk down the hallway after him, to watch his every move. When we finally reach the bottom of the staircase and enter a laboratory, his grin fades. Platforms with chemicals and microscopes surrounding the room. In the middle of the room, one platform with just a keyboard lies. He presses a button and a blue holographic screen appears. On this screen, a number line was drawn. No, not a number line. A timeline, with my name in the middle.

I stared in shock at the man, his expression turned into a serious gaze. "You're from the future." He says. "You were sent here for a reason. A reason only you can find out."

My jaw dropped and for a few seconds everything around me just turned black again. Except this time, no headache. So many questions, few answers. I didn't know where to start. For starters, something wasn't right. I'm from the future, he knew this and my name, and had a complete diagram of my time period. How? Why?

"I've been studying time-travel for years. The chemicals are only here to throw people off in case I'm found. Your name is Makato, you come from 2055, born in 2041, which is this year." He said in a serious tone. "You're 14 and you were trusted to do something, we will find out what that something is and send you back to the future. Hopefully we fix whatever problem occurred when we do so."

I remained skeptical. Something didn't add up, there was something missing. A secret he isn't telling me. "How do you know my name?" I replied after a while.

"Well...I've been in the future before." He opened a file on the screen. It showed distorted pictures that looked like white squares and circles. "These pictures are unfocused or distorted one might say because I took them myself while I was in the future."

"So you met me in the future? That's your explanation." I thought about how his voice felt familiar earlier but still, I was skeptic. "How did you even meet me?"

"I met you at a private school, my future self was apparently a professor there. I bumped into you while watching my future self teach, which was probably a bad idea." His hand motioned towards me.

I pushed his hand away. "I'm leaving tonight if I don't get a good reason to stay." I walked towards a seat in the corner of the room, noticing that the wall wasn't white there. It was red.

"I'll help you get back to the future. I'll help you find out why you are here." The man grinned. "My name is Dr. Ferro. Nice to meet you."
