COTD-JP038 Supreme King Servant Dragon Starving Venom
Level 8/DARK/Dragon/Fusion/Effect/ATK 2800/DEF 2000

2 DARK Pendulum Monsters

Must be either Fusion Summoned, or Special Summoned by Tributing the above cards you control (in which case you do not use "Polymerization"), and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. Once per turn: You can target 1 other monsters on the field or in either player’s Graveyard; until the end of this turn, this card’s name becomes that monster’s original name, also replace this effect with that monster’s original effect, also, during this turn, if a monster you control attacks a Defense Position monster, inflict piercing battle damage to your opponent.

I would see this as a very nice cards if Pendulum Monsters hadn't gotten such a nerf, but with that in mind this card's future depends on how Konami approaches Pendulum Monsters in newer expansions.

I myself am surprised were getting all the cards from the Zarc Duel here when Code of the Duelist is also meant to be the intro into the VRAINS era. I was likely expecting this and the others to appear in a special pack or promo set.

Still being able to take a name and effects of a card on the field or grave and inflicting piercing damage is a nice combination of effects.

that awkward moment when Zarc can't summon his servants

Indeed, they specifically put in the wording on Zarc so it could Summon servants from the Extra Deck, then tack restrictions on those servants so that he can't. Hopefully the other two ED ones aren't so constrained.

That or Konami makes card support that allows you to treat your Main Monster Zones as Extra Monster Zones for certain decks.

This looks really good to me. Has a handy summoning condition, whose materials can recur through Pendulum Summon, also Summonable by Dragon's Mirror, solid stats, and copying effects can lead to many shenanigans. So fun.

inb4 Infernities find a way to take advantage of it as they did with Hundred-Eyes Dragon.

assumption: we're getting all four in this set

That being said, copying anything is really nice. Drancia or Conductor come to mind off the top

Wouldn't work with Drancia, since it wouldn't have any material to detach for the effect. You can still copy any Zoodiac not named Drancia and overlay your own Drancia over it, though

This requires DARK Pendulum Monsters, not just DARK monsters.

Uh, yes, I am aware of that, and I was mostly kidding there, but I implied Infernities could find their way into Summoning 2 DARK Pendulums, Contact Fusing this card, and carry on their combos and loops.

You're correct. My apologies.

That seems like a waste TBH, you can copy master peace instead though?

AFAIK yes. Even when targeting a Master Peace on the field that is unaffected by Monster Effects, the effect isn't affecting Peace, so the protection wouldn't interfere with this card gaining its effect. And you can always copy a Peace in either player's grave, if available.

I wonder what would happen if it copies, let's say, Amorphactor in the grave, since the card is an Extra Deck monster itself. Unless it is an illegal move and thus impossible to do at all because of the loop it would ensue.

Copying Master Peace also wouldn't do anything since it has to have been Tribute Summoned to gain the effects.

I think they forgot that part, lord knows I did too when I was making this reply. Unless they mean the original Master Peace and not the True Dracoslaying one. Either way, this card is fairly neat, and I really do like the concepts of Poly-less fusions that don't banish like the A to Z series.

You do realize it still gains the destruction effect ? (nvm) ... as for the protection ... it would hardly matter if you could get a spell speed 1 protection effect until your end phase, considering all possible relevant responses could already be used earlier.

They just hate Starve Venom, don't they? They nerfed Starve Venom's Summon Condition, nerfed its effects, removed its burn on destruction effect, made Greedy Venom REQUIRE a Predator Plant, nerfed THAT effect, removed its burn effect, made it nowhere near as epic as Starve Venom itself, and then had Zarc Summon Servant Venom just...kind of for the sake of it, even though it ended up being responsible for Reiji losing.

Admittedly, Servant Venom was a pretty epic card in the anime, and this seems to still fit the bill of what it could do in the anime, but the Summon restriction, while understandable, is a bit annoying. But since it gives ALL your monsters piercing, and can copy ANY monster's effect on the Field or either Graveyard...kind of fair to limit it. But the Pendulum nerf is not going to be doing Zarc Decks any favors.

Wait, how is Zarc worded? *checks* Ah...that's a shame. Obviously, Zarc is just supposed to spam Servant Odd-Eyes or Darkwyrm or whatever it's called.

My new headcanon is that Konami nerfed Pendulums because of Zarc.

No one uses the original one though, so how would you copy it? :P

Once per turn, during either player's turn, if this card was Tribute Summoned: You can banish 1 Continuous Spell/Trap Card from your Graveyard, then target 1 other card on the field; destroy it.
