Naidraug
Hello YCM Community, allow me to introduce you all to my own custom Monster card type/mechanic: ClockworksClockwork Monsters and the Clockwork Zone: Clockwork Monsters are monsters that can be Clockwork summoned depending on the turn count, and reside in the new Clockwork Zone separate from Extra Deck.Clockwork monsters must be shuffled before being placed into the Clockwork Zone, and they must be placed their face-up. Only the monster on top can be Clockwork Summoned, and you can only Clockwork Summon once per turn. Clockwork monsters must be Summoned to a Main Monster Zone, they cannot be placed in The Extra Monster Zone. Clockwork Monsters can posses either Levels OR Ranks, but never both. The Clockwork Zone can only have a maximum of 5 Clockwork monsters. Clockwork Monsters have seperate Clockwork effects when face-up in the Clockwork Zone as opposed to being on the field. Clockwork Summons do count as Special Summons.Example Clockwork Monster:Big BengineerEARTHLevel 5ATK: 2000 DEF: 1200Warrior/Clockwork/EffectClockwork Effect: All Machine-Type monsters you control gain ATK equal to all Machine-Type monsters on the field X150. Once per turn, you can target 1 level 5 or lower Machine-Type monster you control, then Special summon 1 monster with same name as the targeted monster from your hand or deck, with it's effects negatedMonster Effect: Turn Count 3, 4, OR 5When this card is Clockwork summoned, calibrate. Once per turn, you can target 1 Clockwork monster you control, that monster's ATK is doubled until the End Phase, and can attack your opponent directly this turn: if you do, no other monsters you control can declare an attack this turn, except Clockwork monsters.Turn Count vs Actual Turn Count:The Turn Count starts at 1, and goes up by 1 each turn, and can also be increased or decreased by card effects. Can't be lower than 1.Actual Turn Count also starts at 1, and goes up by 1 each turn, but cannot be altered by card effects. Some Clockwork monsters may rely on the Actual Turn Count to be Clockwork Summoned. Can't be lower than 1. Once per turn effects also apply solely to that Actual Turn Count.Terminology:Calibrate: Make the Turn Count equal to the Actual Turn Count. Only done through card effects.Overclock: A new once per turn action that allows the player to place the top card of their Clockwork Zone on the Bottom of their Clockwork Zone, but that monster must not be able to be Clockwork summoned on the turn you Overclock. You can only Overclock during your Main Phase. You cannot Overclock a Monster in your Clockwork Zone if their is only 1 monster in your Clockwork Zone.Summoning requirement terminology:OR - Means that monster can be Clockwork summoned on any of the listed Turn Counts.AND - Means that the Clockwork monster must be face-up in the Clockwork Zone for all listed Turn Counts before being Clockwork summoned. If the number of listed turn counts is 5 sperate counts or more, put a dash between the first listed Turn Count and the Last listed Turn Count like so. # - # You can also use the terms OR higher, and OR lower, but never AND higher, or AND lowerRulings:- Clockwork Monsters can also be Pendulum Monsters, but must have their Clockwork Effect replaced with a Pendulum Effect (I.E. no Clockwork Effect).- Clockwork monsters aren't Extra Deck monsters, so they don't require the Extra Monster Zone or Linked Zones to be Clockwork Summoned.- Clockwork monsters can't be Special Summoned from the graveyard or banish zone, unless they were Clockwork summoned first. - Once per turn effects only apply to the Actual turn count, so changing the Turn Count via card effect will not affect card effects that activate once per turn.Generic Clockwork support:[spoiler=Clockworks and support] Clockwork OverwindContinuous SpellOnce per turn, if their is a Level/Rank 5 or lower Clockwork monster face-up in your Clockwork Zone, activate one of the following effects:* Increase the Turn Count by 1 or 2, then calibrate during the End Phase, even if this card leaves the field* Decrease the Turn Count by 1 or 2, then calibrate during the End Phase, even if this card leaves the field. ----- Cyverse MechanicLIGHTLevel 4ATK: 1700 DEF: 1200Cyverse/Clockwork/EffectClockwork Effect: All Cyverse-Type monsters you control can be treated as 2 Links for the Link summon of a Cyverse-Type monster.Monster Effect:Turn Counts 5-9 (OR)If this Card was Clockwork summoned to a Linked Zone, all monsters this card is linked to gain half of this card's ATK. If this card is removed from the field, and the Turn Count is different from the Actual Turn Count: calibrate, then place this card under the top card of your Clockwork Zone. ----- Ancient Gear Timegate GuardianEARTHLevel 7ATK: 2500 DEF; 1550Machine/Clockwork/EffectClockwork Effect:Once per turn, you can Special Summon 1 "Ancient Gear" monster from your hand or graveyard, but this card cannot be Clockwork Summoned this turn, and must be Overclocked during the End Phase, even if you already Overclocked this turn.Monster Effect:Turn Count 2 OR higherIf the top card of your Clockwork Zone is an "ancient Gear" card after this card was Clockwork Summoned, this card can attack your opponent directly this turn. Feel free to make your own Clockwork Monsters/Support cards, and I may add them to the list. Anybody is free to provide a template for Clockwork Monsters if they wish to, as I currently am not sure what the template of Clockwork monsters should look like. Also feel free to suggest any changes you would suggest for the mechanic. Have a great day everybody!
Naidraug
Bump Edits: -Clockworks now don't have to be Clockwork Summoned to the Extra Monster Zone, or to a Linked Zone first. -Clockwork Summons now count as Special Summons, to balance with the fact that they don't utilize materials. You can still only Clockwork Summon once per turn. -Will be adding more Clockwork and Support cards to the card list later.
