Yu-Gi-Oh!: Redux [OOC/Accepting/Not Started]

Recommended Posts

[spoiler=The Idea] A retelling of the original Yu-Gi-Oh! anime (with several plot changes to keep it interesting and make it it's own story) where players either take on the role as this universes version of a main character from the original or a completely original character (which may or may not factor into the plot).

[spoiler=The Story] Much like in the original story, a duelist discovers a mystic power from long ago in the form of a strange artifact (will be revealed in the RP), along with their friends they face a mysterious organization bent on taking this power and using it, along with the strange and ancient magic behind duel monsters, to reawaken the old gods and create a new world order with themselves at the top (can't quite go into specifics as several characters would need to be created before certain plot points could be mentioned). i realize this is heavily story driven and will require players receiving specific directions at certain points but it (hopefully) won't be as controlling and one sided as it sounds.

[spoiler=Rules]

Custom cards are encouraged

if able please try to "revamp" a card used by a character from the original series into an archetype (example by Libracor, Harpie Ladies become Furies)

Custom Sub-types are allowed but require pre-approval

playing pre-link

please try to avoid Pendulums/Synchros/Xyz if possible but you are not restricted to only fusion for your extra deck

more will most likely be added as it becomes neccesary

[spoiler=Proposed Character Roles]

Yugi Moto (Pharaoh optional)

non-specific, friends of the Yugi character

Bakura (Yami Bakura optional)

Marik Ishtar (Yami Marik optional)

Dartz

returning non-main villains/anti heroes

[spoiler=The Creator]

User - 0PxPz0

Name - Sirius Tulpar

Gender - Male

Age - 38

Character Role - Maximilian Pegasus

[spoiler=Appearance]e986d05e889961e2acc9ffc7cf4168bd.jpg

[spoiler=Backstory] The creator of Duel Monsters and one of the heads of Industrial Illusions, not many know the man personally but what is known is the story of how he created the worldwide phenomenon that made him one of the most wealthy men in the world. As a young man he studied abroad, living off of whatever scraps he could get his hands on. He'll tell anyone first hand that he took inspiration for his popular card game from Greek, Egyptian, and Celtic mythology to name a few and that when he brought his creation to Industrial Illusions they rejected it thirteen times after which he took what little he had and made one-hundred-twenty unique cards and allowed children to build and play with whatever decks they could make outside the companies office for three weeks until they offered to buy the game. Sirius quickly rose to the top ranks at Industrial Illusions to the point where a decision cannot be made without his knowing.

Personality - A (pun intended) serious man usually, he's always happy to speak with fans of his creation for hours on end and is often seen watching tournament finals around the world. there seems to be something going on with him behind the scenes that no one has managed to figure out quite yet.

Deck - a user of the first Archetype he made, one created specifically for himself, the Totem cards are a large set of the first cards he made, no one else since those children outside the office of Industrial Illusions has ever used them as he's limited the number of copies made. the cards focus on ritual monsters with alternative summoning conditions as well as a variety of mostly low level support. his signature card is Forsaken Totem although supposedly he has a secret ace that he barely uses.

[spoiler=Like a BOSS]

User - Libracor

Name - Seth Kingston

Gender - Male

Age - 17

Character Role - Kaiba

Appearance - Exactly the way he looks in the anime, except rather than the complicated jacket he wears in the anime, he wears a leather trenchcoat over a Cobalt-blue t-shirt. He also has a ring depicting the Opal-Eyes Cobalt Dragon's head.

Backstory - After being adopted by Gyozaburo Kaiba, Seto and his younger sister Miki began their lives as the genius heirs to the Kaiba fortune. One problem though, Gyozaburo was an abusive man, and Seto was forced to destroy him, toppling Gyozaburo's throne and taking control of Kaibacorporation for himself, transforming it from a weapons manufacturing company to a gaming company. He has dedicated his fortune to achieving the highest form of gaming, even manufacturing official peripherals for Industrial Illusions. He is ruthless and cunning, and has a shady relationship with Sirius Tulpar.

Personality - Ruthless and cunning, there is nothing Kaiba won't do to get what he wants, and the Gods help you if you get in his way. He is Seto Kaiba: Accept no substitutes. Though Kaiba does posess a soft-spot for his sister Miki, he refuses to show this, believing that caring publicly for anyone would be taken as weakness or that his enemies and rivals would target her in their schemes. Quick question, if i wanted to play as tristan could he actually  duel this time around?

you don't have to take the role of an existing character but tristen would be included in the friends category, obviously spending the whole RP not dueling would be no fun so of course you would

I'm sickened, but curious.

excellent! my favorite way to be approached

keeping the name and backstory the same isn't a requirement (although keeping the backstory relatively similar would be preferred, side note I see you changed Mokuba's gender but basically nothing else), the character role would simply be Kiaba, not accepting right away in case you'd like to change some things

Can I make Mokuba useful, and a girl?

define useful and of course, all traits can be changed as long as they take the part of that character in spirit and story relevance
