I already see it coming. New archetypes that focus solely on link summons and having the speed and reliability as DDD, zoodias, invoker, etc.

Like if you agree.

Not even new archetypes. Current decks can work around it just fine. Some decks even get a buff since their "if sent from field to grave" effects become much easier to trigger.

Well the hope still remains, though honeybot, link spider and firewall dragon already continue the mistake links "try/tried to correct". These may not be amazing examples, though they plan on doing exactly what was done thus far ... not to mention decks like darklords are not even affected at all. (Fluffals do not even care, considering they can still summon tiger + tripple sabre tooth, even with the changes)

Likebait on a barely active forum

Why even

Also, anyone who had put any thought into it already knew this :V

And anyone who didn't was probably going to get told it by me or someone else who likes to pop people's bubbles soon enough without asking for Likes

Yeah well, obviously.

The new rules are a dam but Links are the new trajectory, and the amount of water going through is gonna be the same as before. You are just changing the course of it.

The amount of decks I can think of that actually get killed by the new rules are just Igknights and Metalfoes because they rely on self-destroying and can't access their Extra Deck pops back as easily, and they will still manage to work on a basic level if they just get the right mix with an engine that allows them to Link 3 Zones for them to P Summon into.

To be honest though, they could have made this limitation without introducing Links and I'd still have fun with this new limitation.

I mean, more activity only makes Likebait less stupid, not not stupid. This isn't Facebook or anything, and it's still stupid on Facebook anyways.

Oh.... Right xD
And technically Majespecters also suffer a tad, but I've just teched Racoons to search for Unicorn, and learned to waste a Compulsory depending on the deck, so they somewhat can get things back..... kind of.

To be fair, the way Pendulums work now should always have been how they worked, new rules in general or not.

Only bringing out 1 from the Extra per turn makes it potentially more tactical to bring something out rather than "I choose everything that died that can fit into my field". It IS pretty much an inherent revive.

The Scales didn't need their own new zones,

The reason Pendulums seem so hurt is that 3 years worth of support was made to work with the more abusive model. I think they'll even have more room for designing support for them now that they are more naturally restricted. xD

Not really. I overreacted to that in the Firewall Dragon Topic

Let's look at what that combo actually involves.

Infernity Level SS w/ many vulnerable parts

14 cards out of 15 in the extra deck

Certain cards like Brifu Targets, Darling Cobra, and Dandys cannot be drawn

15 minutes later you have

A nat Beast who cannot be targeted or destroyed by battle, and a Firewall Dragon that can quick-play bounce two

Not that broken

Considering this is what we can do with what we currently have, right at the beginning of the mechanic, it's inevitable that as more stuff is released, combos like this will be more consistent and more commonplace. Also, this is just one example of what can be done, people will come up with better combos in time.

Probably the most significant problem of the combo, besides the myriad of other issues that involves a significant portion of the deck and the entirety of the Extra Deck to be dedicated towards a single combo, is that there are far to many bottle-necks in what's going on. The more that's required to happen to make something happen, the more that can go wrong simply from opponent interaction, which means the bigger chance the combo doesn't work out. Couple this with the fact that the combo has a pretty insane dedication in build to accomplish, and this becomes a glass-cannon deck with a highly inconsistent play that can't really do much else. It's touted as "Look how broken it is" but really it would make for a very bad meme deck that doesn't do well in practical play. It falls apart too easily.

As for if this becomes the "norm", I doubt it. The only way to find out with certainty is to see what happens, but I'm really not siding with the doomsayers on this one. Considering how freaking much it took to make a combo that's deemed "broken", I think it's going to take more time to come up with something that's actually practical, consistent, and good for competitive play and not just a spicy meme you'll only get to do now and then.

Again, the basic premise--that Links can and will be borken--is correct, purely because of how games are designed and especially due to how this game in particular is designed.

However a meme video does not do anything more to prove it than any other meme video has done to prove that x format is borken.

Yeah, that combo ending with Firewall Dragons and Naturia Beast is more of a proof of concept than a threat for the game, just like how there are convoluted combos for, let's say, FTKing with Horakthy that take close to the entire extra Deck and half a Deck, but in practice they are difficult and/or inconsistent to perform. But as more cards are released and the game evolves, efficient combos with Links surely will show up.

There's no real evidence that they're going to turn out like this. While we all like to spew the "Konami ALWAYS busts crap wide open", in series 9 they've had a pretty decent track record in reigning the game back to more "reasonable" levels. YGO is about a lot of silly stuff and combos, but in Series 9 the only major tier 0 instance was Ratpier, with the only other outstandingly good deck being Nekroz in its prime and PePe. Neither really lasted that long in their formats, PePe getting killed very quickly.

Yes, there's going to be some very good Link combos, but I hesitate to think that they're going to look this huge, even though in all honesty that field looks a lot more threatening than it actually is.

I agree. I doubt the combos will get as crazy as the aforementioned Firewall + Beast. Better combos will show up, but most likely won't reach such insane levels; forgot to highlight that that was my point.
