What are your hobbies?

I like to make things. It's partially why I run my Minecraft server - I don't just build in game, I like to do design work on the server and its features.

But, it's not just Minecraft. I enjoy Photoshop, photography (I have a DSLR that's alright, but I'd like to get a better one), cooking, and many other kinds of creative expression. I also write occasionally - though, not as often as I'd like.

I also have a large Steam library that I'm trying to put a dent in. Lately I've really enjoyed playing through Watch Dogs 2.

What are your hobbies? How do you spend your free time?

I end up playing frisbee most of my free time that I can actually waste. Pick up games of Ultimate Frisbee are so much fun and exhilarating. We have a group that plays on most week nights, whenever I can find myself over to the lake.

I try to write more often. I usually stick to short stories, life posts, or poems on my personal blog. I used to write as a contributing writer for TheMeadery but then they died out, now I ended up constructing my own blog to write some Magic: the Gathering posts that I still enjoy doing. Wish I could play more, but I don't have the time to travel that much and I don't have as many free hours to spend. I have group of friend who I hit up to play sometimes and drink.

I ride my bike to campus since I live right across the street and I don't want to pay for a parking pass. When I get to campus, I just sit down with some friends. I put up a hammock, talk with them, and play some rad music. That is how I love to spend most of my days that I am not doing anything.

I have a job as an Editor with my school's newspaper and a local newspaper that keep my busy when I am not doing work with the school. Isn't that bad of a position. Lowkey and just sit at a computer all day. Sometimes I talk to the journalists and clear up information. Not a job I want to keep, but it is getting bye for right now.

I tend to go to a few concerts a month. Actually, today is the anniversary of going to my first concert. I am pretty excited about that.

I am trying to get back into Graphic Design right now, which it is kind of fun. I don't enjoy it as much as I used to, though.

There is this club I go to a few times a month that I can sit down with some artists and talk to them, make jokes. I love talking to people and learning about them. That is one of my favorite things to do.

I'm in the creation boat as well, and grabbing a legit copy of Minecraft for the express purpose of joining OP's server is creeping up my to-do list as the month draws near a close. Rather than buildings or servers, however, my greatest strength lies in making characters, hence my presence in the RP section. I like to write stories (largely yuri type deals) as well, though lately I haven't done any of that. Barring that my hobby interests mostly lie in anime and gaming, with a particular fondness for platformers in the latter's case. I've been playing Shovel Knight like mad the last couple months. Outside of platformers, I like team-based vidya games, namely World of Warcraft and League of Legends, both of which I'd like to get back into in the near future.

I read a loooot of webcomics. Like, 7 atm. I think. It's hard to keep track.

I'm also in like 2 choirs (no I won't sing for you) atm, and in june I'm going east-side to bring music to new york. Gotta love that my community college is one of the best choir-wise in the states.

Sometimes I do some waacking and some day when I get enough space for it i'm gonna spin my 7' pole around again.

I love consuming media. Going to the movies is something I do with basically all of my friends and I'm really looking forward to 2017's slew of movies. I'm starting to get the hang of watching movies from a critical viewpoint, something I've never really done growing up, though I'm nowhere near as well-verse as other film critics (using that term loosely too).

Huge anime fan, I've been watching anime seasonally since high school and I don't see myself slowing down anytime soon.

To go along with that, I read a lot of manga, superhero comics, and graphic novels. I've had the sobering realization is most of my reading involves visuals; I'd like to get back into reading traditional books and novels. I do have The Art of War on my coffee table, so that could be a good place to start.

I played more when I was younger, but I still dabble in video games. I've formed a huge backlog in my gaming library that I need to finish and I'm afraid I never will, but I suppose there are many worse problems to have than having too many games ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

And almost all of that involves my laptop. I think I'm unhealthily attached to my Macbook and am considering picking up non-electronic hobbies.

I've really grown an appreciation for art from all of those above activities and want to start learning how to draw. If I could go back and pick up a hobby from when I was younger, it'd be to start drawing at a younger age, but no time like the present.

I'd also like to integrate physical exercise and cooking as new hobbies; I think it'd make for a healthier and more productive lifestyle. But I've had lower back problems and would like them sorted out first before I hit the gym.

tl;dr-I have a lot of electronic hobbies and not enough physical ones.

  • Cardmaking (although it's toned down a bit due to lack of ideas, trying to avoid making stuff that Zoos and the like can abuse [they got hit lately, but yeah] and dealing with Link format)
    • Also Yugioh in general by extension.
  • Graphics (for time being, limited to custom images for cardmaking, whatever shop orders I get and random sigs/tags I feel like making. [Yes, the stuff in my sig is all me; bar maybe some of the stuff at the top of the Extra Images/GFX spoiler and Night's 2014 gift.])
  • Pokemon (DS stuff; I would say Pokemon Infinity [some MMORPG] but the admin is even more inactive than YCMaker [true story] and no updates for past 2 years, so I quit)
  • Drawing (if you guys read my post in Sleepy's thread, mine tend to border on Asian style. Also lack of time due to school)
  • Writing my fanfic (Need to stop being lazy at times and obviously get it done; stalling because of school isn't helping, but probably doesn't help that I wrote myself into a corner recently for introducing the main antagonist)
  • Martial arts (weekend activity; I also help out the younger students [yeah, basically senior student / assistant instructor])

====

So yeah, only one RL activity and the rest are online. I would say anime/manga, but I literally only watch/read 2-3.

As of February, my biggest hobby has actually been cosplay. I have been working with my best friend, and we should have a tumblr up soon™ to just share pictures and progress on future projects. After I enjoyed working on my sign prop for a Shizuo cosplay, I realized just how much I enjoy fabrication, and the feeling of wearing the cosplay was so good it occurred to me that it was something I wanted to do for the foreseeable future.

Oh, also I play MTG and video games., and occasionally stoke the fires of revolution. Just regular sheet.

That reminds me I need to fix my Overdrive Teleporter costume.

Life. I don't get bored at all not just because the autism and all that but because life to me is enjoyable by merely existing. Yesterday we did, Today we might, Tomorrow we will.

Less poetically though...

  1. Video Games
  2. Pixel Art
  3. Concept Art and writing
  4. All other kinds of art really
  5. Swimming and Diving
  6. Meditating1
  7. Rock Climbing2
  8. Running2
  9. Baking and Cooking
  10. Sewing, Knitting and Crafting
  11. Reading sci-fi topics
  12. Reading about good things that are happening
  13. Reading medical journals if I can find an interesting article
  14. Talking to my better friends and randoms
  15. Texas Hold'em Poker3

And thats just the short list. Learning to me is life's greatest pleasure. So I keep on. Hell I'd learn to dance like Dae if I could spare the time. And I know a lot of them are Redundant to mention but I do keep practicing all of them on a regular basis, enough to be considered competent at them all.

1:A non-white, non-martial arts practicing, non-yoga person who meditates? Ooolala.

2:When I can help it anyway. I'm lazy as hell and my bowels are not the kindest. Nevermind my absolute lack of depth perception.

3:Its illegal in Hawaii though otherwise I'm confident I'd be making significant amounts of cash at it. Even if I do know of a few illegal "game rooms" that I absolutely WILL NOT go to. Laws remind us of our freedoms. I intend to keep mine.

  • Mass consuming music, all across the board. My main focus of recent has been Goth Rock and Darkwave, but I go through the whole nine yards

Reading, mostly though Poe and Lovecraft as of recent.

Attempting to keep up with the latest political chaos

Producing music via FL Studio. Used to be EDM and Hip Hop, but moving far and away from that more towards Darkwave and Synthpop

Dealing with the mess that is the music industry

Attempting to keep up with this game through Yugitubers. I keep trying to convince myself to start playing again, but that hasn't really worked.

Vinyl collecting

What kinds of stuff you got? I myself have a ton of stuff by The Inkspots, Andrew Sisters, and Bing (played on '19 Victrola, since this is actually an extension of antique collecting for me).

I've just started, but my main focus is more towards 70s Glam and Punk alongside 80s Goth. The Cure, Joy Division, David Bowie, that sort of thing, though probably if I come having a bunch of any artist it probably will first be The Velvet Underground. I most recently have looked to picking up Unknown Pleasures and ordering a copy of the Batastrophe EP by Specimen online. I probably will hunt for the Batcave compilations if I can, but I'll be damned if I find a copy that isn't wallet breaking or that actually is the original pressings
