Loving how it's turning out. Great colors there. It does need more detail and some refining of a few things like the smoke and the back volcanoes, but I could see this just getting better from here on.

 

Wish I had more of a useful input to give xD
but yeah, I like it a lot.

Yeah I've been eyeballing dem smokers for awhile now. I am just experimenting with things out of sequence with gradients to imitate dropping values and such so I've found myself ignoring detail in the process of learning how I want to approach the lighting of the whole thing. Hell I mean how does one imagine lighting in the in the Mid-Ridges of the ocean? I eyed http://yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Superancient_Deepsea_King_Coelacanth to get some idea...

 

And no problem.. I am so hard of a critic on myself I tend to find answers to each individual problem eventually.

Wanted a new avatar, was unhappy with all of my christmas themed drawings, so just decided to digitize an old one. Also a good opportunity to practice shading and to mess around with effects until I broke the whole thing and added 10 more layers to cover up my mistakes.

The arm at the foreground would need to be closer/bigger. It looks kind of smaller than the one on the back, and in the small avatar image it takes a bit of effort to notice it.

Though applying that change would mean it wouldn't be able to hold exactly the way it is right now.

It'd either keep the upper arm up to the elbow coming straight at us, but the fist would end up higher.

Or it could keep the fist where it is, but it'd have to lower the elbow.

Right now I think it is kind of fusing both of those poses together.

 

Also, the body doesn't look exactly turned in the same angle as the head. It is ever so slightly different enough for me to wonder if I'm the one imagining things, but I think if the body rotated a tiny itsy bitzy more, it'd be a change that'd work out.

 

The black outlines that separate both of the snake's colors would look a little better if done with a brush pen (that made them end in points instead of the line thickness following up until the end), but that's mostly nitpicks.

 

 

 

I think the head looks pretty good. I like how the highlight looks against the shaded area. 

Also, nice duel disk.

10 layers, Dova?! Depending on what program you use... What if I told you you could simplify your project with 5 less layers: 1 for line art, 1 for shading, 1 for lighting, 1 for background, and 1 left out for miscellaneous effects for say blending?

 

If you have Photoshop (this probably applies to the other programs as well) , I can tell you that there is a little simplification technique I like to use called Merge Layer (Ctrl + E). It basically makes the Layer you have selected become 1 with the Layer below it. For example, say you screwed up some where with the coloring, and you made Layer above the layer to correct some errors you've made. You can basically make your corrected layer Merged onto your layer of mistakes as though the mistake never happened. Additionally, you have less layers to look at and correct.

 

I know this may be hard to understand without applying it... So just try it with this project, but don't save it unless you want to.

Not 10 layers active at the same time :P Not that crazy. As in, I had to add 10 layers over my basic glow, shading, color outline in order to fix up mistakes I had made, and then merged them after fixing them.

Yeah, body issue was intentional, but it does look off now that you mention it.

 

Brush points. Yet another incentive to get a good imaging editor instead of pdn xd

The preface is that I decided to experiment on a much cartoonier style than usual, drawing inspiration from a game setting idea I've kinda toyed with my head for fun for quite some time. Said game idea won't go anywhere because I have no applicable skills to the game industry besides writing (rip), but the idea was fun to think about nonetheless.

the hair on the mage makes me, just frankly, really happy and satisfied to look at.

 

The tiny legs on the strong guy are very important.

I like how stylized those are, and yes the tiny legs are important to make the guy look bulky xD

As for me, I drew this the other day. It is quick fanart of a friend's OCs. They weren't exactly the fanciest drawings I've made, but it was entertaining xP

Definitely has that medieval RPG-esque character class feel to it... I am a sucker for these guys and their style. Only thing that stands out to me is that 3/4 them have the same cuffed boots, but honestly that is not really that big of a deal. I mean at least it makes sense visually on the rogue and the mage.

and yes, this is still alive lol. It has dead weeks but it is still going. 

I basically try to do the opposite of what I caused at Fuzzie's club ^^"

 

 

Here is a project I've spent a lot of time on awhile back and may revisit it again.

I actually had to look up the reference to this... XD But, I suppose I could do that. Perhaps as a meme joke. XD Although I have to study on one of my least successful drawing subjects: a muscular man. >_>
