[COTD] Heavy Dust Storm

dont we like have everything else better than this?

It's a costless Twin Twisters. I mean, depending on the deck you're running, this is... pretty decent for what you want it to do. As far as S/T removal goes, Twin Twisters hits better versatility because it has the Q/P function as well as the equal removal, but not every deck likes the cost. In a slower game, this is very good. Hopefully the game slows down to take better advantage of it.

The flexibility and speed of Twin Twisters still outweighs the discard cost even in slow decks, IMO. Plus, the discard isn't too bad sometimes, assisting with setting up cards that want to be in the grave, or making use of any dead cards.

it's not a card that we need, but it is definitely something that it doesn't hurt the game to have. the reappearance of imperial order means this card may be of some importance in the side deck, and paleozoics are a thing as well. while in possession of built-in removal, are not exactly hurt by having access to a stronger form of removal.

Well Konami are trying to give us generic backrow removal that fills every niche, and this fills yet another one. In some decks it's obviously better than Twin Twisters, like Paleo or Demise decks, but it's terrible going second and less flexible than Twin, so most decks will probably still go for Twin. Though it is worth noting that this can turn off your own Imperial Order while Twin can't, which could be useful.

I am a card hoarder, I don't like to discard my cards, so Twin Twister will a lot of the time be replaced by other cards, I am still using MST in some Decks, though I do want to destroy more cards sometimes. It feels great to stop two traps and your opponent can't do anything about it, MST can't do that, Twin Twister costs you a card, this one gets both for no cost whatsoever.

What deck do you play, if you don't mind me asking? Just seems like a really odd attitude.

Any Deck where there isn't any good use to discarding your stuff, it doesn't really matter what Deck it is, I just dislike putting cards like that in the Deck if they won't benefit me. If I'm playing Burning Abyss, sure I'll use cards like that, but if I'm playing a Pendulum Deck, I probably won't be using a card like that since they rarely interact with the Graveyard.

with imperial order, and necrovalley coming out strong, this this is definitely getting sided in a few of my decks,i mean, twin twisters hits necrovalley just as well, but paleo are gonna need a lot more backrow hate on hand to deal with the (unavoidable) GK matchup.

Thinking you're underestimating how ass it is to set a card for backrow destruction and have to wait a turn

against imperial order, what else are you using that won't waste extra resources? it's not completely terrible (for decks that have nothing else to use) to side dust storm in when facing something like imperial order,

Any rank 3 engine into Break Sword should suffice, to be fair.

In any case I don't think it's productive to look at this card in terms of direct comparison to Twin Twisters. In most scenarios Twin will probably be better for flexibility, but if a card has a niche it has a use. Even if it's not a particularly competitive use.
