~It's surprise bouncing time!!!~

Name: Surprise Springboard

<NORMAL TRAP CARD>

Lore:

"Pay 1300 LP and declare 1 Type of monster. Return all face-up monster of the declared Type back to the hand."

The idea of this card is a Magical Springboard that is capable of returning multiple monster(s) of the same type back to the hand, breaking combos and set-ups, such as setting up for an Xyz Summon, Synchro Summon and so on...

Another thing to note, this card can also be used to return all your monster(s) back to hand before unleashing a "Dark Hole" or other destruction devices...

Hmm...could be quite interesting in a mirror match

There's a reason why Compulsory Evacuation Device is Limited. This card is basically a stronger version of that, except that you have to pay 500 LP to do so. I'd think that if this card became real, it would probably also be Limited, if not Banned, because of its convenience again any deck and the raw power of possibly getting rid of all your opponent's monsters in one fell swoop (like against Raidraptors or Archfiends).

Well, At first thought, I already assumed that this card will be LIMITED or even forbidden due to it's simple but ultra-useful effect, like compulsory evacuation device, which I still use in my deck.

Maybe I should add a clause "There can only be 1 copy of this card in the deck", to limit its use, making it harder to spam, or maybe I should add a heavier cost to activate it?

Yeah, a heavier cost is the way to go IMO, since designing cards for them to be straight Limited or Semi-Limited is usually frowned upon.

Another thing you can do is to give it an "Once per duel" clause. However, this clause is just as frowned upon as well, but at least it has precedence, instead of indirectly putting the card in the banlist.

Not sure if you remember that member from early 2015 who literally designed stuff to be on the list (or even banned) if ever released, but yeah, making cards that are INTENDED to be on the list is a bad idea.

As already mentioned, this is a better Compulsory (500 LP is nothing) and given how linear most Decks are nowadays (in the sense that Archetypal and generally same Types), this does amount to a one-sided field bounce. Mirror matches will just bounce everything (bar generic bosses); only thing I could probably see you using this for with the TC's original plan is likely Pendulums under new mechanics; make them go back to the hand so they don't hit ED and aren't forced into a EMZ or Linked Monster Zone.

Make the cost much higher to use; while the OPD clause would be an option, you really shouldn't be doing that.

Until the advent of Link cards, I don't think it has been as good as it used to be since the Xyz age.

However, while that one had no cost and returned only one monster, this one has a small cost and can return a higher number of monsters. While not every player may use one exact Type, I still agree that a higher cost is in order for this card to balance out better; perhaps 1000 Life Points?

Compulse saw some play in the early ARC-V / late ZEXAL era iirc, but yeah, it stopped being seen some time later (namely due to target immune stuff at the time; see Kozmo ships, Majespecters, etc).

You should probably raise the cost to 1500 LP; granted, not everyone will have a mono-Type field, but a lot of Decks right now do. (*cough Zoos *)

Thank you everyone for your comments and suggestions!

*Edited the LP cost to balance it's effects, to a quite obscure amount 1300 LP, to keep things interesting?
