Battle-plan for the cowardly ones!

~Take things slowly and easy...like General (Shy) Guy do~

Name: General Guy's Battle Plan

<CONTINUOUS MAGIC CARD>

Lore:

"Once per turn, at the end of your Main Phase 1: You can skip your Battle Phase, and if you do, add 1 Monster Card with "Shy Guy" in its card text or 1 Spell Card from your Deck to your hand. "

The idea of this card is using the turn/time of battle to construct and devise a master plan, draw sketches on a blueprint, and call in reinforcements and supply, like a General does....In this case, the cowardly General Guy hides in the shadow, avoiding the current war

With the cost of not attacking, this card allows the player to search for a specific card straight from the deck, making it effective and useful for set-ups and more defensive decks....

So does this mean you never get to have your Battle Phase? Don't you think that gives your opponent a big advantage?

Well, I think I might have a wording error back there....

The effect I'm aiming to achieve is to let the player choose whether they decide to skip the battle phase or not (like an option) in order to draw a card....

So this doubles as a Battle Phase Skipper and a searcher

I tried to change the wording but not sure if it's appropriate....

Wording help?

Here's how I would word it. It's not perfect or anything, so you can mess with it all you want to improve it.

Once per turn, at the end of your Main Phase 1: You can skip your Battle Phase, and if you do, add 1 Monster Card or 1 Spell Card from your Deck to your hand.

Thanks for your wording help! Deeply appreciated.

Well, any thoughts on the use/benefit of this card?

Its effect seems very generalized. You can use it to literally search for any monster or spell in your deck. One idea I can imagine is if you have Blue-Eyes in your hand and use this card to get Blue-Eyes Alternative from your deck, then Summon it with its effect and destroy an opponent's monster. Another possibility is just gathering Fusion Materials and Polymerization so you can Fusion Summon. Those are just a few, though.

Now that I think about it, it's almost too generalized. Maybe you could restrict it to "Guy" Monsters and Spells.

Thanks for the feedback and livening up this topic. Considering your suggestion, I'll change the effect to restrict only "Guy" Monsters, as for the spell, I didn't really want to put the word "Guy" on every spell or "This card's name is also treated as ....Guy", so I decided to keep it general

There's a little problem with the tutoring effect. I've looked at your other Shy Guy cards and they only change their names while on the field or in the Graveyard, meaning they retain their printed names while in the Deck, so as to not conflict with the Rule of 3. Battle Plan's current effect will only let you search for monsters originally named "Shy Guy". To better get to what you want, I'd instead phrase it as:

"...add 1 Monster Card with "Shy Guy" in its card text..."

The tutor-any-Spell effect looks concerning, but let's also consider that you're effectively doing this at the end of the turn (so it's very difficult to use what you've dug up without certain obscure interactions) while telegraphing your combo. There's potential for this to be broken but it's offset by the delay that lets your opponent prepare a counterplay... if possible.

Thanks for the word correction and suggestion!

Now this card can be a decent searcher in a "Shy Guy" deck, and fit the name as it implies....

Well, this card can be used to search Quick-Play spell cards which can turn the tables at its moment..
