While I was thinking about the upcoming Link Era, once I understood what it meant to Pendulums, I felt the need to do something that I consider could be a nice form for Pendulums to adapt to the new era. I'm mostly ok with the era changes, specifically because the optimal Pendulum playstyle was always to destroy everything you had as much as possible then profit, which was really boring imo.

 

Therefore, I'm trying some things with this new Pendulum Deck:

- A playstyle that doesn't rely on spamming. Now that you can't summon all your dead monsters in a single summon, Pendulum decks have to follow a new direction, but this also means they don't have to be that much weaker compared to other main deck monsters. Of course, you are still summoning at least 1 dead monster every turn so this is balanced as such.

- How to create different tiers of strength between Pendulum monsters in the same archetype. Normally, a Pendulum deck has fixed scales that allows the user to summon all of his monsters, but this also meant that all of them should have the same power level. In this archetype, however, you are able to change one of your scales to a higher number, allowing you to summon the stronger Pendulum monsters, but doing so will make that Pendulum scale be destroyed at the End Phase, giving somewhat of a higher cost to the summon.

 

The cards are based around the idea of celestial-like beings that considers themselves the ones supposed to "judge" the worth of others. Not necessarily in a fairly way. They also "oppress" those who they consider unworthy, as represented by some of their effects.

Holy Judge Disciple Ezimael
Level 3 – LIGHT – Fairy/Pendulum/Effect – 1400/1400 – Scale 7/7
Pendulum Effect: Once per turn, if you have a “Holy Judge” card in your other Pendulum Zone: You can make this card’s Pendulum Scale become 10 until the end of this turn. If you activate this effect, you cannot Pendulum Summon monsters for the rest of this turn, except “Holy Judge” monsters, also destroy this card during the End Phase. Once per turn, if you Normal or Special Summon a Fairy-Type monster(s): You can target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls with more than 2000 ATK; its ATK becomes 2000 until the end of this turn.
Monster Effect: When this card is Normal Summoned: You can add 1 “Holy Judge” monster from your Deck to your hand, except “Holy Judge Disciple Ezimael”. If this card is destroyed by battle with a monster with more than 2000 ATK: That monster’s ATK becomes 2000.
 
Holy Judge Disciple Anael
Level 4 – LIGHT – Fairy/Pendulum/Effect – 1700/1000 – Scale 2/2
Pendulum Effect: If a Fairy-Type monster you control destroys an opponent's monster by battle whose ATK on the field was different from its original ATK: You can target 1 card on the field; destroy it. You can only use this effect of “Holy Judge Disciple Anael” once per turn.
Monster Effect: When this card is Normal Summoned, if you control no other monsters: You can Special Summon 1 face-up “Holy Judge” Pendulum Monster from your Extra Deck, its ATK becomes 2000. During the turn you activate this effect, you cannot Special Summon monsters, except “Holy Judge” monsters. If this card attacks an opponent’s monster, it gains 400 ATK during damage calculation only.
 
Holy Judge Tyrael
Level 5 – WATER – Fairy/Pendulum/Effect – 2200/2200 – Scale 2/2
Pendulum Effect: Once, while this card is in your Pendulum Zone, you can negate an activated card effect that targets another “Holy Judge” card(s) you control, then destroy this card.
Monster Effect: If you control no monsters, you can Normal Summon this card without tributing, but its ATK becomes 2000. If this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can target 1 monster your opponent controls; until the end of this turn, its effects are negated, and if it has more than 2000 ATK, its ATK becomes 2000. Cannot be destroyed by battle with monsters with the same ATK as this card.
 
Holy Judge Lucael
Level 5 – EARTH – Fairy/Pendulum/Effect – 2100/2500 – Scale 7/7
Pendulum Effect: Once per turn, if you have a “Holy Judge” card in your other Pendulum Zone: You can make this card’s Pendulum Scale become 10 until the end of this turn. If you activate this effect, you cannot Pendulum Summon monsters for the rest of this turn, except “Holy Judge” monsters, also destroy this card during the End Phase. Once per turn, during either player’s turn: You can target 1 face-up monster on the field with more than 2000 ATK; its ATK becomes 2000 until the end of this turn, also the first time it would be destroyed by battle this turn, it is not destroyed.
Monster Effect: If this card is Normal or Special Summoned: All “Holy Judge” monsters you control gain 500 ATK until the End Phase, also, your opponent cannot activate cards or effects when Fairy-Type monsters you control attack this turn. If this card in the Monster Zone is destroyed by battle or by an opponent’s card effect: You can Special Summon 1 “Holy Judge Token” (Level 5 – LIGHT – Fairy – 1500/2000).
 
Holy Judge Ishmael
Level 6 – WIND – Fairy/Pendulum/Effect – 2400/2100 Scale 2/2
Pendulum Effect: Once, while this card is in your Pendulum Zone, if a “Holy Judge” monster(s) you control is destroyed by battle or card effect and sent to your Extra Deck face-up: You can target 1 of those cards in your Extra Deck; add it to your hand, then destroy this card.
Monster Effect: If you control no monsters, you can Normal Summon this card without tributing, but its ATK becomes 2000. Once per turn: You can target 1 monster on the field with exactly 2000 ATK; destroy it. If this card in the Monster Zone is destroyed by battle or card effect: You can target 1 face-up monster on the field with more than 2000 ATK; its ATK becomes 2000.
 
Holy Judge Ranael
Level 6 – FIRE – Fairy/Pendulum/Effect – 2500/2000 - Scale - 7/7
Pendulum Effect: Once per turn, if you have a “Holy Judge” card in your other Pendulum Zone: You can make this card’s Pendulum Scale become 10 until the end of this turn. If you activate this effect, you cannot Pendulum Summon monsters for the rest of this turn, except “Holy Judge” monsters, also destroy this card during the End Phase. Once per turn, when a “Holy Judge” monster you control attacks an opponent’s monster: You can make both monster’s ATK become 2000.
Monster Effect: If this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can target 1 Spell/Trap card on the field; destroy it. Once per turn, if this card attacks an opponent’s monster whose ATK is lower than this card’s, at the start of the Damage Step: You can send that monster to the Graveyard, then inflict 1000 damage to your opponent. 
 
Holy Judge Ascended Ezimael
Level 8 – LIGHT – Fairy/Pendulum/Effect – 2900/2700 – Scale 7/7
Pendulum Effect: Once per turn, if you have a “Holy Judge” card in your other Pendulum Zone: You can make this card’s Pendulum Scale become 10 until the end of this turn. If you activate this effect, you cannot Pendulum Summon monsters for the rest of this turn, except “Holy Judge” monsters, also destroy this card during the End Phase. During your Main Phase, if this card was activated this turn while there’s no card in your other Pendulum Zone: You can place 1 “Holy Judge” Pendulum Monster from your Deck into your other Pendulum Zone, but it cannot activate its effects this turn. You can only use this effect of “Holy Judge Ascended Ezimael” once per turn.
Monster Effect: Once per turn, if this card was Pedulum Summoned: You can make the ATK of all monsters on the field with more than 2000 ATK become 2000, except Fairy-Type monsters you control. This card can attack all monsters your opponent controls with ATK lower than this card’s once each. While this Pendulum Summoned card is face-up on the field, the first time each “Holy Judge” card you control would be destroyed by an opponent’s card effect each turn, it is not destroyed.
 
Holy Judge Ascended Anael
Level 9 – LIGHT – Fairy/Pendulum/Effect – 3000/2000 – Scale 2/2
Pendulum Effect: During you Main Phase, if this card was activated this turn: You can add 1 face-up “Holy Judge” Pendulum Monster from your Extra Deck to your hand. You can only use this effect of “Holy Judge Ascended Anael” once per turn.
Monster Effect: Once per turn, if this card was Pendulum Summoned: You can destroy all monsters on the field with ATK lower than this card’s, except “Holy Judge” monsters you control. Once per turn, during either player’s turn, if this card was Pendulum Summoned: When a Special Summoned monster with ATK lower than this card’s activate its effect: You can negate that effect.
 
Heaven’s Oppression
Spell/Normal
If your opponent controls a monster(s) and you control no monsters: The ATK of all monsters your opponent controls with more than 2000 ATK become 2000 until the end of this turn, then you can Special Summon 1 “Holy Judge” monster from your Deck, but its effects are negated. You cannot Special Summon monsters during the turn you activate this effect, except “Holy Judge” monsters. You can only activate 1 “Heaven’s Oppression” per turn.
 
Spear of Judgment
Spell/Equip
Equip only to a Fairy-Type monster. The equipped monster gains 500 ATK for each monster your opponent controls whose current ATK is different from their original ATK. Once per turn, if the equipped monster destroys a monster whose ATK on the field was different from their original ATK, it can make a second Attack in a row. If a “Holy Judge” card(s) on the field would be destroyed, you can destroy this card instead. If you have 1 or less cards in your Pendulum Zones while this card is in your Graveyard: You can banish this card from your Graveyard; place 1 face-up “Holy Judge” Pendulum Monster from your Extra Deck into 1 of your Pendulum Zones, but it cannot activate its effects this turn. You can only use this effect of “Spear of Judgment” once per turn.
 
Punishment for Insolence
Trap/Normal
If a “Holy Judge” card(s) you control is destroyed by battle or by an opponent’s card effect: You can target 1 card on the field; banish it, then you can Special Summon 1 face-up “Holy Judge” Pendulum Monster from your Extra Deck. You can only activate 1 “Punishment for Insolence” per turn.
