"I-I'm fine. I'm Crystal. Crystal Fraclair."

"Kin. Kazato Kin," Kin introduced herself in return, after removing the burger from her mouth. It was then that Kin heard a voice nagging at her in the back of her head. The voice of her Numerix monster. She was still getting used to hearing someone in her head besides herself.

She is broken. Weak. Let us fix her; let us heal her.

No. We can't just waltz around dueling everyone you think is broken. EVERYONE is broken.

She is also a Numerix holder. But that is beside my point. You are broken too. Please, let me heal--

I'll rip you if you keep it up. Think I won't?

...I await the day you come to terms with your broken nature.

Kin extended her free hand to meet that of Crystal, and took it, shaking her hand briefly before her burger-holding hand rose up to be on level with Kin's face. As she released Crystal's hand, Kin asked "So what brings you to this part of town?" before returning her food where it belonged: Her mouth.

"If you want to get from Uptown to the Residential Distribution on foot, you're going to need to walk past the interchange," Crystal commented, hand-waving her reason for bring in Uptown in the first place- not wanting Kin to think she was an easy mark due to her heart condition, "and I don't exactly have a ride."

Fight her. Summon me. I will obliterate the odious loudness of the highway . . . and, in the same move, claim a method of conveyance for you, and take for you a second of my brethren . . .

Crystal spoke slightly louder to try to talk over the voice of Frozen Constrict in her head, which was growing louder by the second. "What about you? Why are you under a highway overpass on such a bright summer day?"

Jack knew it was duel time. He tapped his necklace, and felt energy flow down to his arm. A duel disk appeared, ready to go. "Let's make this Good!"Five cards shot up out of his duel disk. "Good hand. Good enough to bring me out." "I activate One for One! This card allows me to send Raw Steel Dragon to the grave to summon Burning Heart of the Steel Dragon!"A flower bloomed on the field, and out went a small dragon , looking like it was fresh out of the forge."Now I activate Steel Dragon Upgrades! This Continuous Spell allows me to release my Burning Heart, to bring Phraxei, the Gamma Steel Dragon to my field!"The melted dragon disappear, and an actual mecha dragon appeared." Now, when Burning Heart is sent from the field to the Graveyard, it allows me to add from my Deck to my Hand a Steel Dragon card!"Suddenly, a glorious light shone from Jack's hand, and the Steel Dragon, in all it's glory, appeared in front of his master." But now, I bring my Steel Dragon to the field! I can do this if I have one Dragon and one Machine in my Graveyard, which all Steel Dragons are! But now, I use my Phraxei's effect! All Steel Dragons are Level Four! So I build the overlay network, using Level 4 Steel Dragon and Phraxei, to Xyz Summon Bladed Steel Dragon, In attack mode!"The 2 dragons leaped into a galaxy, and out went a dragon with bladed fangs." I Banish Raw Steel to use it's effect! Burning Heart is Back! I set 2 cards face down, and end my turn."

[spoiler=status]

LP:4000

Cards in hand:0

Cards on the field:

Bladed Steel Dragon (in ATK)

FIRE - Rank 4 - Machine/Xyz/Effect - 2200/2000

2 Level 4 Dragon-Type monsters

This monster is also always treated as Dragon-Type. This monster gains 400 ATK and DEF for every Xyz Material attached to this card. If this monster destroys your opponent's monster by battle, attach the destroyed monster to this card as Xyz Material. Once per turn, you can detach 2 Xyz Materials from this card to negate the effect of 1 face-up monster your opponent controls.

Burning Heart of the Steel Dragon (in def)

FIRE - Level 1 - Machine/Effect - 200/200

This monster is also always treated as Dragon-Type. When this monster is sent from the field to the Graveyard, add 1 "Steel Dragon"monster from your Deck to your hand. Up to twice per turn, if this face-up monster is targeted for a card's effect that would not destroy it, you can negate that effect and target 1 "Steel Dragon" monster in your Graveyard or Banished Zone: add it to your hand.

You can destroy this face-up card to Special Summon 1 "Steel Dragon" Fusion monster from your Extra Deck, using monsters you control as Fusion Materials. If this card is destroyed, except by its own effect: Special Summon 1 "Steel Dragon" Synchro monster from your Extra Deck, but its ATK becomes 0 until the End Phase of this turn.

Rank-Up-Magic: Steel Dragon's Force

Quick-Play Spell

Activate only if you control 2 or more face-up "Steel Dragon" monsters. Target 1 Rank 6 or lower Xyz monster you control: Xyz Summon 1 Xyz monster with the same Attribute that is 3 of fewer Ranks higher than that target from your Extra Deck, using the target monster as Xyz Material (Xyz Materials on the target monster become Xyz Material on the new monster). This counts as Xyz Summon.

Ken's runner changed gears suddenly as he and the thug both booted up their duel disks. The two drifted into the rightmost lane so that any other vehicles could get out before drawing their opening hands.

"Alright then, I think i'll go first! From my hand, I can Special Summon Sandragon Burrower by discarding 1 card!" As he discarded his card, a serpentine dragon with a fin-like tail whose body seemed to be made of rocks appeared beside Ken. "Of course, that's not all. Because Sandragon Blaster is in my Graveyard, I can send the top card of my Deck to the grave and Special Summon him as well!" Ken sent the top card of his deck to the graveyard, and immediately after, a dragon with large eyes who looked like it was made of sand appeared.

"Of course, it would be stupid if I just ended it there, so now, i'll overlay Burrower and Blaster and Xyz Summon the Rank 5, Superior Sandragon - Quick Crusher! Normally, his effect would go off and one of your monsters' ATK would become zero, but seeing as you have nothing, Crusher's effect won't go off. I'll set one card face down and end my turn."

[spoiler=status]

Ken LP: 4000 | Thug LP: 4000

Hand: 4 cards

Field: Superior Sandragon - Quick Crusher (2 mat) 1000/2500

Face-Downs: Extra Sandragon

Grave: Sandragon Earth Burst

Smiley laughed and drew his sixth card. "Well, that ain't bad at all." He inspects his hand and nods. "But I think I can do you one better. And I'll start with Kuro, the Black Talon!"

The area round both Duelist's visions grew dark, and from those shadows leapt a blurred figure. As it landed, their Duel Gazers cleared up, and standing tall and proud on Smiley's field was a petite young woman in black samurai garb, carrying a short Wakizashi sword

Kuro, the Black Talon

Level 3 ~ DARK ~ Warrior/Effect

ATK: 1000

Smiley continues without a care in the world. "And since I was able to summon Kuro successfully, I can summon Kage the Shadow Talon from my hand with his own effect."

Both player's visions darkened again, this time more so, and from the opposite side as, a second samurai, this one immensely muscular dropped from above and landed without anything more than bending his knees.

Kage, the Shadow Talon

Level 4 ~ DARK ~ Warrior/Effect

ATK: 1500

"Two effects activate here. Kuro's effect triggers when a monster is summoned, letting me Special Summon Yami, Elder Talon of the Darkness."

Yami, Elder Talon of the Darkness

Level 5 ~ DARK ~ Warrior/Effect

ATK: 2000

"And because a I control an imbalance of levels, I can use Yami's effect to remove one level and grant it to little Kuro, so I now have (let's see, carry the 60,) three level four monsters! How about that!" He chuckles and taps his chin. "Now, what should I... OOH! You think so? Alright, whatever you say!" He holds a hand above him, and a rainbow-colored spiral bloomed from the ground like it was melting into paint. The three warriors leapt into the air and fell in, turning into violet ghosts of energy along the way. The center gurgled and boiled, and Smiley began to chant.

Ring with a summons to heaven or hell,

Numerix 94, the Chaos Knell!

The portal opened into a hole in the street and out from it rose... a bell. A sort of bell person? Hard to say. Essentially, a young lady in a fancy silver-grey dress, only from the waist down, she was a giant metal bell. Along the bottom rim of the bell was an embossed trio of square numbers. A zero (which was a square with a diagonal line from bottom-left to top-right), a nine (which was the top half of the square with the right-side line all the way to the bottom) and a 4 (which looked rather like the nine, except it had the top line missing).

The portal closed and cleaned itself up, but the lady replaced the swirling vortex with two of her own, opening her eyes to reveal two roiling balls of color.

Numerix-094: Chaos Knell

DARK - Rank 4 - Thunder/Xyz/Effect

2350/1900

The thug on his bike drew a card and sneered. "Alright, then it's my move, I assume." He looks down at his hand and frowns. "Dammit. Normally, I'd have something better than this. Oh well. I Set a monster face-down, and a card face-down. That's all!"

Jack smirked. " Chaos Knell, huh? Pathetic."

He noticed Smiley's Numerix Shadow. It looked exactly like the monster.

He glanced over at his next duel. He appeared to have a cocky facade to him, almost a viciousness to him. He almost felt a number come to him.

He went back to his current duel. He stared directly at Smiley's hand, and saw three digits, 0,9, and 4. He couldn't tell, though, if he or his Numerix was in control.

He found surprise in 76's Words.

'Nice reaction, slick. You meet a Numerix, you are calm. Yet when you talk about your sister....'

' Woah, woah WOAH. You opened that can of worms, partner.''PARTNER?! I'M RUNNING THE SHOW!'

'Whatever you say.'

He awaited the next move.

Allie's smile widened a bit as Kenji introduced himself. "Pleasure to meet you, Mr. Tsusawa." The older man seemed to become slightly distracted as he looked down at his card (Acquire Numerix), so Allie followed his gaze... and saw two small, shadowy keys, one of which was pointed directly at her. The other one was pointed somewhere behind her. It appeared to be pointing at a young man with a... gas mask?? Who wears a gas mask in the middle of summer? Allie knew that some duelists liked to put on some pretty outlandish costumes, but a gas mask was new. She spun back towards Kenji at the sound of his voice.

"Eh, don't worry about it. What was I gonna do, just walk past it? And as for an exciting duel-" Here Allie's permanent smile became more of a smirk. "I think that can be arranged. But, ah, first..." How can I say this? Allie took a breath and decided to just come out and say it. "Your card has a pair of keys floating over it. I'm guessing that isn't exactly normal."

Smiley rolled his shoulders and threw out a hand. "OK, so now her effect comes into play. Chaos Knell! Remove one Xyz Material and banish his Steel Dragon with Sonic Collapse!"

One of her orbiting globes of sinister violet light swooped down and up into the bottom of the bell. With a mighty swing of her hips, Chaos Knell sent her giant bell-bottom into a fit of ear-smashing noise, the loud metallic sound blocking out all other noises in the immediate area. And just as alarmingly, the ground and air rippled, and Steel Dragon began to fade and melt simultaneously, disappearing from the battlefield along with the sound.

Smiley pulled a burger out of his bag and unwrapped it as he talked. "Now, your Bladed Steel Dragon is going to be gone a while. Four whole Standby Phases. And when it does come back... well it won't have its materials, so it'll be real close to useless. I just hope you weren't planning on using it." He took a large bite of his food, pointing at his opponent's remaining monster. Chaos Knell understood immediately, and she mirrored the action. A relatively small ball of chaotic, vibrant energy ballooned from the tip of her finger and hung in the air. Smiley swallowed, but didn't say a word.

As though that were the cue she was waiting for, Chaos Knell dropped her finger, locked it behind her thumb, and then flicked the ball, hard. The sphere sailed overhead, and when in struck the defense position dragon, shattering it in a wave of effervescent discord.

"That's all." He grinned, loosening the wrapper further and taking another bite of the burger within.

"They know, you might as well do something." Kori stopped and turned towards the pair he'd been watching "Those keys, is that his Numerix?" "Of course it is, get involved before they start a duel." begrudgingly the young duelist made his way over, removing his mask so he could speak "This probably sounds a bit forward but I was wondering if either of you are interested in a duel." he paused, annoyed by the laughter of sixty one "That's your grand plan? Ask nicely and maybe they'll do what you want? A real villain takes by force!" "I had to improvise okay! You said they knew I had you and this is the best I could think of!" he replied spitefully.

..."Your card has a pair of keys floating over it. I'm guessing that isn't exactly normal."

Kenji's eyes snapped open.  So it wasn't in his head after all!  What could this mean?  The girl also seemed pretty insistent on dueling as well so...

"This probably sounds a bit forward but I was wondering if either of you are interested in a duel."

Kenji saw the boy that the shadowy keys had pointed to earlier.  Now that he was closer, Kenji could get a better look at him.  Like the girl he had bumped into earlier, he had a gas mask.  Was it a fashion trend, or did he know the girl from before?  Either way, his piercing blue eyes sent a bit of a shiver down Kenji's spine.

"The young Miss Marquez here beat you to the punch young man."  Kenji said, trying to not let any of his thoughts be read on his face.  "I am quite eager to play a few games though.  Maybe afterwards?"  He turned back to Allie.  "I have a feeling you know something about..." he glanced at the boy, "the... things.  We can talk over a game, can we not?"

People were beginning to gather around and the atmosphere seemed to thicken as they sensed a duel was about to happen.  Kenji took a deep breath and pulled out an older styled duel disk from under his sleeve and placed it on his right arm.  "Let's duel!"  he said, as he placed his deck in the duel disk slot.

Suddenly, the LP counter on the top of the disk honked an error sound.  INSUFFICIENT CARDS flashed on the screen before it went black.

"Um... let's duel is... something I would like to say, but it seems that I cannot at this time." Kenji said, stunned.  Today just wasn't his day.  "Miss Marquez, would you mind dueling the lad instead?  It seems as though one of my cards must have blown away."  Kenji nodded to the boy.  "By the by, I did not get your name young man.  My name is Kenji Tsusawa."  He held out his right hand, trying to ignore the keys that were floating over his duel disk.

"If you want to get from Uptown to the Residential Distribution on foot, you're going to need to walk past the interchange, and I don't exactly have a ride. What about you? Why are you under a highway overpass on such a bright summer day?"

Kin once again removed the burger from her mouth, to answer the girl's question. "Nothing in particular." Kin spoke the truth. She'd just sort of wound up here by going where her feet took her, not really expecting to run into anyone along the way. Kin had figured everyone was too busy dueling each other in the panic to get a Numerix of their own to bother chatting it up with random people.

Fix her! Even you can tell just by looking at her; the poor girl is shattered!

I said can it!

Kin wasn't about to let this thing just keep blabbing on about the broken girl in her head. However, at the same time, she wasn't about to duel her either. That meant letting her card win over her, and Kin wasn't the sort of person who just let others win like that. She had a different course of action in mind. Shoving the remainder of her burger into her mouth and down her throat, tired of this tedious in-and-out routine she was taking with the snack, Kin raised a hand up to wave goodbye as she continued forward. "Not to ditch you, but I've gotta get going for some reasons. Be careful out there; this city's gone crazy over those Numerix cards and people will duel just about anyone." She sure showed her Numerix. Nobody ordered her around except herself.

[spoiler=An OOC part because I can't be assed to go to the OOC thread and post it there]So I've been recently informed that the only thing really holding the RP back right now is Drac needed to post. Who in turn needed me to post. So I've come in and unclogged the drain, so to speak, but I have no interest in continue to RP as Kin, nor am I willing to look through all the AGM archetypes again on the off-chance that I'd be permitted a new character in her place. So I'm officially dropping as of this post. But I wanted to make sure y'all could keep going, so I got this post up like I apparently had to. Knock 'em dead Drac (^_~)b

When Jack saw his dragon explode into nothing, Jack couldn't believe it. "No, not Bladed Steel!" Numerix 76, on the other hand, was calm. 'This is nothing. I have a plan, just do as I say.'

When the ball of sonic energy sailed at Burning Heart, he knew what to activate. "I play a Continuous Trap!" A negative copy of Steel Dragon appeared, and faded into normal colors.

Steel Dragon

FIRE - Level 6 - Machine/Effect - 2200/2000

"Steel Dragon Reverse! Now, this will allow me to bring my Steel Dragon to the field! It doesn't stop your attack, though."

Heart bursted into discord, and a card popped from the deck to the hand. "You know Burning Heart's effect, yes? So I'll go!"

A card burst into his hand.'Perfect! Synchro, into Evolution, into Tempered, into me. '

"I start by Summoning Steel Dragon Frame!"

An outline of Steel Dragon appeared, except with no insides.

Steel Dragon Frame

FIRE - Level 1 - Machine/Tuner/Effect - 700/0

" I tune level 6 Steel Dragon and level 1 Steel Dragon Frame!"

The two Dragons leaped into straight line, and became stars. The Stars melded together, forming a dragon.

"Dragon of Steel, Dragon of Flame, Show the opponent who wins this game!

STAINLESS STEEL DRAGON!"

Stainless Steel Dragon

FIRE - Level 7 - Machine/Synchro/Effect - 2000/2000

A gleaming light appeared from Jack's field. A dragon, made of steel appeared, shimmering and shining. As he appeared, Chaos Nell's rings became smudged and brownish in places.

"Now, when Stainless Steel Dragon appears, your monster loses it's attack, and my monster gains it's attack. So from 2000 to 4350! But I'm not done! I play Steel Dragon Evolution!" Stainless Steel Dragon glowed with light, dissipated, and in it's place appeared a enhanced version of Bladed Steel.

Tempered Steel Dragon

FIRE - Rank 7 - Machine/Xyz/Effect - 2400/2100

"By releasing Stainless Steel Dragon, I bring Tempered Steel Dragon! Now, using Steel Dragon Reverse, I bring Stainless Steel back! But now I activate in my Extra Deck Numerix 76's Effect! I use my Tempered Steel as Xyz Material for him!"

Suddenly, the sky turned blood red. Tempered Steel Dragon began to melt into a Overlay Network. Jack Cackled, his nature becoming more violent. His voice became 76's. On his neck, the Numbers 0, 7, and 6 appeared blood red on his neck. 76's voice began to come out of his mouth.

"Oh Dragon of Strife,

Knock out this fool's life!

Rank 11! NUMERIX-076:DRAGON OF THE IDEAL OF EVIL!"

Numerix-076: Dragon of the Idea of Evil

LIGHT - Rank 11 - Dragon/Xyz/Effect - 3300/3100

A mountain of bones fell out of the overlay network. Then, with a flash of red light, the satanic Dragon appeared, his eyes white, horns sharp, scales blood red.

"You're Finished!"

Allie made a face as Kenji's duel disk flashed an "insufficient cards" warning. "Tsk. That's a shame. Ah well. Maybe we can duel another time." She turned to the newcomer, which as it happened was Gas Mask Boy. Now that he was up close, Allie could take his measure better. He looked... strange. More specifically, his eyes did; they were too icy and predatory to fit properly in such a non-threatening body. And one of those shadowy arrows from Kenji's Numerix had pointed directly at him... Interesting.

Allie offered a smile. "I'm afraid I didn't get your name, Mr. Gas Mask. Mine's Allie." As before, she offered him a hand to shake.

[spoiler= OoC]

I will be taking over the role of Kin, now that Yui has left.

???

Far away from the hustle and bustle of the central areas of Destiny City, a scream rang out, agonized and pleading, before being quickly silenced with a sickening, cracking thud. Then there was no sound but footsteps on the asphalt, muted by thick leather boots.

". . . So he was telling the truth. He didn't own a Numerix. Stupid bugged sensor," a voice said softly, with little in the way of active emotion one way or another. "Not that I mind, of course," said quiet voice chuckled vaguely.

"Destiny City . . . you've got a big storm coming. Might want to brace for impact."

=======

Crystal Fraclair

As she watched the taller girl jog off, Crystal let out a sigh. Resisting Numerix-043's influence for an extended period of time was . . . difficult, to say the least. She internally hoped that it wouldn't make her hurt Kin, as she seemed like a generally good person . . .

But it seemed to have found a new target. A Numerix is not far. You want to avoid combat with the gold-eyed one for now, so be it . . . but I must be sated.

Crystal took her steps with an increasing hesitancy- Frozen Construct grew greedier, louder, angrier by the day. She was so focused on trying to resist its influence that she bumped into someone . . . another Numerix holder, by the aura about him.

Tall, lanky, with a simpering grin, he stopped Crystal. "You the gamblin' type, girlie? Because I've a bet for you . . . My Numerix against yours. I'll even throw them both in, I'm such a nice guy."

"Actually-" Crystal tried to correct nervously as she realized that she'd walked right into a dead-end alleyway.

"Wasn't really a question," the tall man smirked, blocking her exit. "You're staying right here until you Duel me. I'll even take the first move! With fast hands, he activated his Duel Disk, and Crystal activated her own without thinking.

======

Kin

As she jogged away aimlessly, Kin eventually found herself treading the same ground over and over again . . . and, looking into an alleyway in hopes of finding something to do, she saw that Crystal girl from earlier . . . facing down not one, but two Numerix.

The first, a drunken-looking, stumbling undead monk, with a digital-looking 013 on his leg . . . the second, a little pixie with playing cards for wings, and a staff with a die on its tip, proudly displaying the 052 on her surprisingly endowed chest for such a little thing.

Look what you've done! By leaving her alone like this, she's gone and gotten into such a horrible situation . . . you absolutely must help her!

"Oh right!" he grinned as genuinely as he could muster. "I'm Kori, Kori Akuyaku." the boy shook her hand with false excitement as he examined his possible opponent, despite her obvious advantage in age she was around an inch shorter than him and seemed to be an experienced duelist by how casual she reacted to his potential challenge of the older man standing with her, either that or he was being underestimated. "I don't suppose you'd be interested in dueling right now either would you? I mean you're both probably way better than I could ever be so it's not like i expect to win." Kori was sure to say it in a way that he hoped would gain him sympathy without pity.

Despite his piercing gaze, Allie couldn't help but feel a bit of pity for Kori. He was evidently pretty unsure of himself, if that self-deprecation was anything to go by.

Pity is irrelevant. Acquire Numerix.

Oh, shut up. I'll acquire some damn Numerix later. Allie turned her thoughts back outwards and responded to Kori with a smile. "Yeah, I'd love to. And I'm sure you're not that bad. Nobody is, here." She glanced around for a bit before spotting a duel arena laid out with rocks a short walk away. "How 'bout we head over there? Looks like nobody's using that arena right now."
